Chapter 7: Shota Aizawa

"You really have the biggest mouth. Will you ever learn when to shut up?" Aizawa said in an exhausted tone. Yamada had waited for Aizawa at the bus stop by the school the next morning so they could walk to class together.

"Whaaaaaat?" Yamada bellowed his arms to his sides to emphasize his shrug. "The news stations were there, it's not like it was a big secret! I was just giving a more personal look since I was one of the heroes fighting. Seeing Timeswapper in person? Of course I took some videos and had to post it on the web with commentary from yours truly! And you got to fight alongside him! So cool! He took a ton of selfies with me! Really got the internet buzzing last night when I got home." Aizawa at times would get so infuriated at Yamada. They were close friends somehow, due to the insistent Yamada that first year primarily, but their personalities couldn't be more dissimilar. Usually when someone has their nose in a book it means they don't want to be bothered. When someone finds the most secluded places on campus to nap during breaks so they could be left in peace, it means they don't want to be bothered. When someone goes to study hall during free period where talking isn't allowed, it means they don't want to be bothered. But that communication was lost on Yamada. He followed Aizawa around like a puppy the first few weeks of school their first year. Aizawa eventually let his walls down and the friendship had formed. As much as Yamada annoyed him, they had gone through all their ups and downs at UA together. That forms a bond that can't be broken. Even if they were polar opposites.

"You gonna be suspended from the school festival for the fight? Even though Ito started it? What was it about anyway? Why'd he punch you?!" Yamada asked all the questions in a long string of words quickly and with much enthusiasm so that Aizawa could barely keep them all straight.

"Neither of us are suspended due to helping out with the villain attack. And Ito punched me because he heard I wasn't signing up for any hero agencies and it pissed him off. I don't know why, he got signed on to Crimson Tower. I don't know what the hell his problem is," Aizawa replied evenly.

Yamada turned to Aizawa as they walked and grinned at him mischievously. "Sounds like a case of the green-eyed monster. Crimson Tower is a good agency but Golden Time is one of the best. So are you really gonna turn down the offer? Even after yesterday? Just think, a year ago you thought you wouldn't get any offers! Man, you're crazy! You should just start at Golden Time and leave when you've saved up a lot of money. You'll be kinda famous then, too, working at that agency, so work will be easy. It will come to you and you won't have to go lookin' for it." Yamada gushed.

Aizawa shook his head. "I don't need money and I don't want fame. I'd rather not even be known. I think in some ways that would be a benefit, people seeing you and just thinking you're a random guy. You could get intel a lot easier. My quirk works better with the element of surprise anyway."

Yamada nodded, "I guess. Funny, mine is the opposite! I couldn't get away with any kind of sneak attack with my quirk!" Yamada laughed, nudging Aizawa with his shoulder. Aizawa gave a small half-smile. Graduation was right around the corner. He was ready for the next step. He had not really enjoyed high school. He felt like a lot of his time had been wasted, especially once he figured out what he wanted to do after he graduated. He was eager to be able to spend his time the way he saw fit. Working towards fighting villains independently. He could train as much as he wanted with no interruptions. He would become stronger, faster, and more skilled in his fighting styles. He hoped to be able to truly be on his own as much as possible, but he was glad to know he could drop by Timeswapper's Agency anytime to pick up any extra tasks or patrols. Even Aizawa couldn't help but feel a little excitement for this new chapter in their lives.
