Dear Alfie,

I was so pleased to receive the package with my necklace and the apples. What a lovely surprise it was. The necklace has been mended beautifully. Thank you so much, Alfie. The apples were delicious. I've eaten them all already. I don't believe you picked them yourself. You're an important man, I really can't imagine you picking apples. They weren't bruised at all. They were shiny and perfect. Please don't hurt the driver. He was very nice and called me 'Madam'. Mary wasn't happy because usually deliveries are taken to the back door and your man drove right up to the front door and told her he had been given express instructions to hand them directly to me. He wouldn't give them to her no matter how much she insisted and she was cross. It was very funny.

Thank you for enquiring about my health. I am doing well. The injuries are healing nicely and my cough has mostly gone. The doctor left me some medicine which helps a lot and I'm sleeping well. I would also like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming to my aid when I was in difficulty. It was an unfortunate event and you were kind enough to take the time to help me. Thankfully, all that is in the past now and I am much better. You are right about Fred. He is my constant companion and I couldn't be without him.

Yes, it is lovely to have the family all back together. The last few weeks have indeed been difficult for us, but it was all resolved and the misunderstandings cleared up, so things are back to normal. Tommy is very busy with his work which means I don't see him very often. He works hard. In fact, everyone is quite busy these days.

Dearest Alfie, it was lovely to hear from you. I know you're a very busy man but it would be nice to hear from you again if you have time.

I am, very sincerely, your friend

Rose
