Chapter 71: Amazing Air Duos P2

Oh, why did Titan Cards have to be so powerful? I ask that because Aang was in a hot heated Duel against Mai Valentine. At stake was his own Titan Card. At the moment Aang's Life Points were: 3000, he had one set card and one Monster on his side of the field Wind Magician Aquas which should've had 3300 ATK but it had 0. This was all due to Mai's latest monster, she had 2900 Life Points left and she now had Stratoes the Tornado Titan which normally had 5000 ATK but it had 8300, this was all due to it towering over Aang's Wind Magician Aquas stealing all of it's target's attack points away. There was a mighty explosion as it seemed Aang's Monster was destroyed. As if she thought she won Mai smirked "That should've been the final blow!"

Then she gasped as Aang's Life Points were still at 3000 and yet Wind Magician Aquas still remained on the field "WHAT GIVES?!"

Aang answered "Simple answer, your attack has activated my Trap Card Defense Draw which makes all Battle Damage I take 0 for that turn and I get to draw a card."

Aang drew his card then spoke "Plus, thanks to Wind Magician Aquas, if he would be destroyed, almost similar to a certain Elemental Hero Fusion Monster, by banishing one Wind Attribute or Water Attribute Monster in my Graveyard, Wind Magician Aquas isn't destroyed by battle! So I banished Wind Magician Level 4!"

"Close call" I sighed with relief.

Mai was frustrated at that "DARN IT! I HAD YOU! YET COULDN'T GET THE FINAL BLOW IN! NOW YOUR MONSTER'S ATTACK TURNS BACK TO NORMAL AS DOES STRATOES'S!"

This was trueboth monster's attacks turned back to normal 8300-5000, 0-3300.

She then calmed down "You survived for one more turn. Lucky you because if Stratoes had destroyed your Fusion Monster, he would've been banished instead of sent to the Graveyard."

"Good to know that" Aang replied to her.

"With that" Mai announced "I end my turn."

I studied the scene hoping for the best of Aang, he only avoided near defeat thanks to Defense Draw and his Fusion Monster's effect prevented it's destruction, but question was, for how long could he protect his Monster after all it needed a Wind or Water Attribute Monster being banished and he only had two more Monsters in his Graveyard.

"It's my move" Aang announced "I draw!"

He drew his card then smiled "Time to go Earth Bending mode!"

He looks at Mai "I'll summon Avatar Synchron!"

A mechanical magician seemed to appear on the field ATK: 500

"Next," Aang announced "I'll activate Avatar Synchron's special ability, allowing me to Special Summon a, Wind, Earth, Fire, or Water Attribute Monster from my deck or hand! And I choose to Special Summon, Guardian Golem!"

A huge guardian made out of stone appeared having a guardian seal on it as well ATK: 2000

"Next" Aang announced "I'm going to tune my Avatar Synchron with my Level 4 Guardian Golem!"

Mai frowned "Finally a Synchro Monster but this will change nothing!"

"We'll see won't we?" Aang said in a confident tone as Avatar Synchron split into four rings scanning Guardian Golem while chanting out Elements of nature become a powerful new force, reach out to embrace the world in a good image...Synchro Summon. Bending, Syhchro Summon, Avatar Dragon!"

In a brilliant flash of white light a new Monster appeared on Aang's field looking like a powerful. dragon capable of bending the elements ATK:2800

"Impressive Monster" Mai said to Aang "But even it falls short compared to Stratoes!"

"I'm well aware of that!" Aang said "But it's thanks to Avatar Dragon and Wind Magician Aquas are going to be my key in defeating you! For you see, Avatar Dragon may have it's own ability, but it has four other abilities, each depending on the attribute of the Non-Tuner Synchro Monster that was used to Synchro Summon it. And since Avatar Dragon's Non-Tuner Synchro Material Monster was an Earth Attribute Monster, well, let's just say I'm ready for anything you can dish out!"

"I don't believe you!" Mai shot at him.

"Perhaps you don't now but I ensure you, that I'm ready for Stateoes now! But for now let me introduce you to Avatar Dragon's first special ability, the one that doesn't require the Attribute of the Non-Tuner Monster, you see by paying 1000 of my Life Points, all Monsters on my side of the field can attack you directly, but if you have a Monster on the field, you receive only 1000 points of Battle damage for each Monster I attack with!"

"You've gotta be bluffing!" Mai shot at Aang.

"Am I?" Aang asked innocently as he paid 1000 of his Life Points. Aang's Life Points: 2000 He then announced "Now watch as I unleash Avatar Dragon's ability of Air Current!"

A massive air current was summoned on the battlefield and Aang announced "Now, Avatar Dragon and Wind Magician Aquas attacks you directly!"

Both of Aang's Monsters charge flowing in the same direction of the Air Current bypassing Strateos the Torando Titan despite it trying to force the two Monsters to attack it but it failed allowing Aang to announce the attacks "TAKE AVATAR DRAGON'S HEATED AIR BREATHE! AND WIND MAGICIAN AQUA'S Ocean Rampage!"

Mai's eyes went wide as Aang's Monsters actually bypassed Stratoes and unleashed their attacks Avatar Dragon took a deep breathe then unleashed hot heated winds in form of a fire breathe at her while Aang's Wind Magician Aquos proceeded to summon an ocean storm all over her. The attacks connect but each one only did one thousand points of damage to her. I was hoping this would've been a winning move but it wasn't. Still he did damage her for 2000 Life Point damage.

Mai's Life Points: 900

"DARN IT!" Mai snapped clearly not expecting that move.

Aang looked at her "Turn end."

"I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU PAY FOR THAT AVATAR!" Mai snapped "YOU WON'T BE BEATING ME, SO DON'T GO THINKING THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD THAT YOU'LL WIN NEXT TURN! CAUSE YOU WON'T!"

She turns to her deck "Here I go, I draw!"

She drew her card "Let's get right to when I beat you Avatar! I'll go to my Battle Phase and doing so activate Stratoes' effect, I can destroy all Monsters you have on the field except for the Monster I'm targeting so say good bye to Wind Magician Aquas!"

Aang just watches as Stateos attempted to destroy Aang's Monster but somehow Wind Magician Aquos is still standing causing Mai to grow even more frustrated "WHAT?!"

Aang looks at her "I told you, that I had a way to defend against your Titan's effect!"

"BUT TITANS ARE IMMUNE TO EFFECTS!"

"True" Aang smirked "But not if my monsters effect happens to protect my side of the field!"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!"

Aang answered calmly "It's Avatar Dragon's ability from using an Earth Attribute Non-Tuner Synchro Material Monster! You see while it's on the field, I can protect my monsters from destruction from card effect or by battle."

Mai growls now knowing what Aang meant by having a defense from Stateos's effect "Maybe but let's see how good you are when I go to attack Avatar Dragon! And remember thanks to Stateos's Tornado Drainage your Monster loses all of it's attack points and Stateos gains them!"

Stateos now towers over Avatar Dragon sucking away it's attack points and gaining them 2800-0, 5000-7800

"And now you're going down!" Mai shouts "I may not destroy Avatar Dragon thanks to it's effect from it's Earth Attribute Non-Synchro Material Monster but I can still inflict damage to it! Which it's more than enough to defeat you!"

Stateos attacks Aang's Monster but Aang was ready for it discarding one card from his hand which happened to be Kuriboh "Then I'll activate the effect of Kurbioh from my hand, making the battle damage zero!"

This frustrated Mai even more "DARN IT!"

After the Battle Phase ended both Monsters' attack points returned to normal 0-2800, 7800-5000

She checked her hand "I'll activate the Continuous Spell Card: Fierce Winds!"

A spell card appeared "Now as long as Stateos the Tornado Titan remains on the field, now I can't be targeted by direct attacks!"

Aang frowned a bit realizing what this meant, they were at an impasse once it went to Aang's turn. As long as Stateos remained on the field, he couldn't attack her directly and win the duel that way. Oddly he just smiled causing her to growl "Why do you smile?"

Aang answered "It's cause if I defeated you by direct attacking then it would defeat the whole purpose of defeating the Titan Card. In other words if I'm going to beat you Mai, then I'm gonna half to do it the best way which is often the hard way!"

"Keep on saying yon can defeat me cause you won't!" Mai promised "Turn end."
"It's my move" Aang announced "I draw!"

He drew his card once more and checked the card out seeing that it was the same card he used against me and Haku in the practice Tag Duel. "I can't do much on this turn but I can do this, I'll set one card face-down and end my turn."

Haku turned to me "Let's hope this impasse comes to pass for Aang in the end."

I agreed Mai wasn't going to give him time to think or act but with that trap card Aang set it would delay Mai with just one turn. Still it would give Aang time to set up or plan to deal with Strateos.

"How long do you think the others can hold off Princess Azula and Sasuke?" Hanabi inquired.

"Let's hope they defeat them soon" I sighed out "Or at least give us a bit more time."

Lance agreed with Takara and Snowflake helping to keep watch around me.

Kakashi's POV

Deep down in my heart, at this time I felt as if the Duel between Aang and this Mai Valentine was happening. In fact everyone of us that was left facing off against the Fire Nation and Sound Ninja's latest but failed attempt to hunt down Avatar Aang noticed that the latest Titan Card was out. Sure we were further away but due to how big the Titan Cards were, even from our distance we saw a towering Tornado Titan. Naruto pauses as did Sokka as they could see the towering Titan.

"That's huge!" Naruto muttered.

"Seeing that we're just seeing it's head" Sokka muttered dryly "I'd hate to be in Aang's place. Who knows what danger that Titan presents to him."

Sasuke attempted to attack both of them with a Chidori but I swiftly caught his hand and threw him clashing into Azula taking both of them down in one collision "Keep your mind on the battle at hand!"

"Right Kakashi-Sensei!" Naruto replied hastily.

"Will do sir!" Sokka said swiftly.

"So" Azula muttered as she gets near Orochimaru "I see a fourth Titan has been brought out."

"And all in the hands of Mai Valentine" Orochimaru muttered "Not sure why her in the end as she's not evil-evil and won't totally use it for evil as one would want to, but at the same time she won't be joining the Lady Signer."

"She better not" Azula snapped "Hades already made a mistake in giving Tania Lythos the Earth Titan and looked how she betrayed him."

"It's all the matter of what the ones he gave them to want them I'm afraid" Orochimaru replied to her then he charged at Katara whom saw him. She tried to Water Bend but he sidestepped and came at her with a sword drawn from his mouth aiming it directly at her. Katara shivered senesing his power and do to dealing with three Sound Ninja and Iruka dealing with three Fire Nation Soldiers we weren't going to be able to save her but someone was shouting "Ninja art, Needle Jezzo!"

White hair formed around Katara's rescuer and around himself as the sword of Orochimaru met the hair forcing it back down Orochimaru's throat. Orochimaru frowned as Azula ran up to help "Don't interfere Princess."

"What? Why?" Princess Azula demanded pointing at Lord Jirayia "He's just an old man! Just like my traitorous Uncle!"

Orochimaru knew better than her "Careful what you say Princess, for that man is Jirayia and to underestimate him at your level would be your fatal mistake Princess."

She wasn't listening and charges in Fire Bending at first but Katara managed to Water Bend a stream of water colliding with the fire bended attack creating steam. It was all Lord Jirayia was waiting for without haste he formed a ball of Chakra which Azula realized what it was...A little too late, everyone could hear her mutter "Rats...That's…"

"Should've listened to Orochimaru lady! Rasengan!" Jiraiya shouted slamming the move right into Azula's chest sending her sprawling screaming in pain as she is sent backwards before nearly falling weakened not daring to get up.

She weakly looked up gasping for breathe at Orochimaru whom shrugged at her "I warned you Princess. Next time if we ever team up like this, perhaps learn to listen to my advice especially when dealing with Jirayia here. After all Princess...What you don't know is that this man...Is on the same level as I am."

Azula gave out a gasp of realization what that meant "Your joking….That old man is…"

Sasuke answered for Orochimaru "Is the second out of three Sannin whom are said to be stronger than any Kage shinobi. Orochimaru is one of them, and Jirayia over there is the second…"

"AND WHOSE THE THIRD?" Azula asked in a demanding tone truly wanting to know.

"Lady Tsunade" Orochimaru answered "The Fifth Hokage and leader of Konoha."

This shut Azula up quickly realizing that she did over skip her boundries in trying to fight Jirayia, knowing that the old man she had attempted to burn to death was on par with Orochimaru, her only ally out of the three Sannin.

Orochimaru now turned to address her "I'll deal with Jirayia here Princess seeing I'm the only one that can match him. You need to deal with the Avatar's friends."

"Gotcha!" she said trying to get up but due to her injuries that Orochimaru inflicted on her she had no choice but to stay down for now "rats...Can't move."

Sasuke shook his head "Bummer Princess...I suppose I need to step up my game then."

He turned to deal with Naruto, and me "Especially when I have to face them."

"This time you are going to be beaten Sasuke" Naruto told him.

Sasuke watches us calmly activating his Sharrigon "Perhaps, but I'm no fool like Azula. Get ready for here I come!"

He disappeared but reappeared behind Naruto and tried to kick at him but I managed to block it with my own arm before trying to kick him backwards. He flips away but then frowns as I bring out my Sharrigon "Sharrigon battle I see."

Orochimaru turned towards Jirayia "Why, Jirayia it's been a while sense our last encounter when I tried to get Tsunade to cure me."

Lord Jirayia remained calmed "And this time, I'm not drugged as I once was! Time to go back to the Fire Lord and explain your failure!"

Orochimaru chuckled "Oh Jirayia only you would be so bold to say that, and I suppose that's one way to see things, I have another way to think on it!"

He brought his hands together but Jirayia knowing what he had in mind and managed to prevent him from summoning Lord Manda by kicking out at him.

"You're no fun Jirayia"

"You sent the Lady Signer into a different dimension in hopes to have that world's villain eliminate her, not going to let that happen here!"

"Then it appears I need to eliminate you first old friend" Orochimaru said.

"Well see if you can do it!"

This gave me and the others time to regroup fighting against the Sound Ninja and Fire Nation Soldiers.

Kasumi's POV

The duel between Aang and Mai was continuing and once more it was Mai's turn "It's my turn and time for me to destroy you Avatar! I draw"

"It is" Aang admitted "But I activate my Trap Card, Hurricane Winds! For this card to work I must pay half of my Life Points, but upon doing so, you are forced to skip your entire turn!"

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" Mai shouts watching Aang pay half of his Life Points 2000-1000 "Thwarted a third time!"

"He doesn't have any Life Points to give out for Avatar Dragon's effect" Hanabi pointed out towards me and Lance.

I frowned as that was true, but I had a feeling Aang wasn't finished yet "Trust Aang Hanabi, he'll figure something out."

Lance partially agreed "Let's hope so, because if not, Mai will win this."

Aang then announced "It's my move, I draw!"

He drew his card studying the field, he needed to save himself some more turns he saw a card in his hand and decided to use it "I activate the Spell Card: Swords of Revealing Light!"

"Now you won't be able to attack me for three hole turns!"

Mai just smirked "Growing desperate are we? You do know I have a special card in my deck that can easily thwart this!"

"Providing you draw it" Aang admitted in a warning tone "Which is also why I activate a second Spell Card, this one a Continuous Spell Card: Air Shield!"

Aang spoke "For each of our Stand-By Phases that passes including the moment I've activated this card, I gain one Air Counter equipped to this card."

"What's that supposed to do?" Mai demanded.

"You'll see" Aang taunted her "When and if that time comes! But for now I end my turn!"

"It's my move" Mai announced "I draw!"

She drew her card but due to Swords of Revealing Light she was unable to attack this turn. In fact she frowned at having no drawn her one card and has no choice but to end her turn which when it got to her stand-by Phase Aang's card Air Shield gained one more Air Counter on it,"You got of lucky, but what I can do is destroy one card on the field thanks to Harpy's Hunting Ground, so there goes your Swords of Revealing Light!"

Her Field Spell tries to destroy Aang's Swords but it didn't "WHAT?"

Aang answered "It's all thanks to Air Shield's Air Counters, as long as this card has an Air Counter attached to it by removing one Air Counter I can prevent any of my Spell or Trap Card's destruction by card effect.

One of Air Shield's Air Counters was removed from it making it now back to one Air Counter so Aang had only one chance to save his Spell or Trap Cards.

"Turn end" Mai growled.

"It's my move!" Aang announced "I draw!"

He drew his card and another Air Counter was attached to Aang's Continuous Spell Card, but had nothing that could help him. There was going to be one way for Aang to overcome this Titan Card, and it was by the combo he done on me and Haku, but from the looks of his face, he didn't have the method plus Elemental Hero Great Tornado's effect wouldn't work on Statoes the Tornado Titan.

He checked his drawn card and I heard him think This card alone can work but I don't have the cards needed for this combo. So I gotta hope Mai draws Harpie's Feather Duster and uses it!

He then nodded towards Mai "I end my turn."

"My move, I draw!" she drew her card then smirked as Aang's Air Shield Card gained it's third Air Counter on it "Time to blow away your swords and your other Spell card down, I activate Harpie's Feather Duster! It'll destroy all your Spell or Trap Cards!"

Aang was ready for it and smiled "Thanks Mai, that's exactly what I wanted you to do! Cause I activate Air Shield's ability! By removing all of it's Air Counters, I negate the effect of a card that would destroy multiple cards on my side of the field then for each Air Counter removed that way, I get to draw one card and you must discard the same amount of cards from your hand

Mai frowned as she was countered again "LUCKY!"

With that in mind Aang drew three more cards and once more Mai was forced to discard three cards of her own from her hand to the Graveyard.

She looks at Aang "With that Avatar I end my turn"

Aang watches her "Then it's my move again Mai, it's my move, I draw!"

Aang drew his card and checked his hand then smiled "Alright Mai, it's time I turned this Duel around, and it's also time I'll be beating your Titan Card!"

"You say as if you can, but you are dealing with a Monster that has five thousand attack points!"

"We'll see now won't we?" Aang inquired causing her to stutter "W-W-W-W-What do you mean?!"

Aang smirked "I activate the Spell Card: Air Switcharoo!"

He explained the effect "Now with this Spell Card, I can select two Monsters on my side of the field and until the End of the turn you gain them but their effects are negated while they are on your side of the field!"

"WHAT?!" Mai demanded "Why would you do such a thing, those two Monsters were your only ones you could defeat me with and that was before my own Continuous Spell Card!"

Aang just gave her a small smile as Avatar Dragon and Wind Magician Aquas switched to be on Mai's side of the field.

"I repeat myself" Mai told Aang "WHY GIVE ME THE TWO MONSTERS?!"

Aang answered "Just be quiet Mai and your answers will be delivered!"

He then went for the next play "Next I'll activate the Spell Card: Polymerization!"

Mai grits her teeth "Another fusion?!"

"Indeed" Aang announced "With Polymerization, I'll fuse Elemental Hero Stratoes with Dash Warrior in order to Fusion Summon, Elemental Hero: Great Tornado!"

Aang's Elemental Hero Monster appeared on the field ATK: 2800

"Now" Aang promised "Before I unleash Elemental Hero Great Tornado's special ability, I'll equip it with Windcatcher!"

The equip Spell attached itself to Aang's Fusion Monster and Aang announced his monster's effect "Now Elemental Hero Great Tornado's ability once he's successfully Fusion Summoned, he halves the attack of all Monsters on your side of the field."

Mai growls "Stratoes the Tornado Titan is unaffected by card effects!" Mai roared at Aang.

Aang just smiled "You have a temper missy! Anyway, I know that...Which is why I gave you my two other Monsters!"

Mai then gasped realizing this now "W-W-W-Wait when you meant all of them...You exactly meant…"

Aang smirked "Yep all of them! You see Mai, I knew your Titan Card wouldn't be affected by Great Tornado's effect, but if I gave you my two Monsters Avatar Dragon and Wind Magician Aquas, then they can be affected! Plus Windcatcher's own ability allows Elemental Hero Great Tornado to increase it's attack points by the combined halved attack points of the Monsters he halved!"

"N-N-N-No way!" Mai announced watching this happen to the two Monsters Aang gave her,

2800-1400, 3300-1650

She then watched as Elemental Hero Great Tornado gained the attacks as well. 2800-5800

"Fifty-Eight Hundred!" Mai announced "T-T-T-that's stronger than Stratoes...And with Avatar Dragon's effect negated…"

She got it "Oh-no!"

Aang nodded sympathetically "Sorry Mai, but that Titan Card doesn't belong to you. If it truly did I wouldn't be doing this, but it comes down to this! Battle! Elemental Hero Great Tornado attack Stratoes the Tornado Titan!"

Fierce winds erupted around the battlefield as both Stratoes the Tornado Titan clashed with Aang's Fusion Monster and destroyed Stratoes the Tornado Titan in a massive explosion.

Mai still had Life Points left over. Mai's Life Points: 100

She growls "Stratoes! No!"

Aang then frowned more "Now Windcatcher's ability sets in not only did it negate any effect of my opponent that my Equipped Monster battles, it also it also allows Great Tornado that when it destroys a Monster by Battle it inflicts damage to you equal to your destroyed Monster's Attack or Defense Points depending on which was higher!"

Mai looked shocked "N-N-N-No way...That means!"

Aang shook his head sadly "Sorry Mai that means you lose!"

Elemental Hero Great Tornado turned towards her and unleashed powerful winds at her deputing her Life Points.

Mai's Life Points: 0

Aang's Life Points: 1000

I felt a bit sorry for Mai, she was a good Duelist no matter what others would say about her. Hades had used her to his advantage and this time claimed her body. She looks at Aang bewildered "He used me…"

"That he did" Aang told her "Look you are a great Duelist, but I needed to have Stratoes."

Mai sighed retrieving it from her deck and giving it to Aang "You better take care of this Titan, Avatar. You've won it."

Aang looked at Strateos the Torando Titan just as Kakashi-Papa, and the others arrived.

"Aang!" Katara announced rushing towards Aang "Are you okay?"

"I am" Aang replied holding the Titan Card.

"You aren't that hurt!" Katara said surprised.

"He really only took one thousand points of damage" Hanabi said "Which was lucky for him."

"So what happened to Orochimaru?" I inquired.

"Lord Jiraiya managed to force them to retreat using his Toad Mouth Trap technique" Kakashi-Papa said he looked at Aang "Good work gaining your Titan Card."

"Thank you" Aang said looking at the dying Mai "Just wish we didn't have to have a Shadow Duel against each other. I feel bad she was used by Hades."

"Just goes to show he's willing to do and say anything to those he gives them too" I admitted saddened.

Naruto frowned "One last Titan Card…"

All eyes looked at him as I admitted out "That one is all yours to deal with Naruto. Let's hope you are ready for it when the time comes."

Naruto understood "It's all up to Team Signer to find him or her."

I nodded "Or that last person may bypass them, so we have to be ready."

Kakashi-Papa agreed "Well we must be on our way."

With this said we continued on our journey

Short chapter, I know but I had a very busy morning, And I'll try to do better on the next one. Next chapter is: Chapter 72: Double rematch, Azula and Sasuke vs. Kasumi and Aang: After thinking their next move, Kasumi and Aang are confronted by Azula and Sasuke without any backup. Can the two heroes last out long enough for their friends to arrive?
