I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

... eh, I've used that intro before.

Anyways, it's been awhile since I've written for this story, so I figured, with the help of Gabeherndon308, that this story deserves some more steam with another chapter.

Hopefully you guys are still fans of the bloodsuckers of the night, and are still thirsty for more.

So let's get back to the story.

I don't own anything.

...

Mewni, castle Butterfly...

After the shocking revelation of vampires being real, and seeing his friend in a hospital bed, Marco didn't know what to do. I mean, Hekapoo's right. This isn't anything like Ludo or Toffee. Heck, it wasn't anything like Hekapoo's trial. Judging from how panicked, and how freaked out she was about Eclipsa, this was definitely bigger than anything he's dealt with.

The only thing he can do is prepare himself. The first step... research.

Currently, we now find Marco in the royal library looking through whatever books he can find on either Eclipsa or vampires in general.

All that he could find on vampires is that they apparently don't burn in sunlight, but rather they're powerless.

"Huh. Kinda reminds me of Bram Stoker's Dracula." Marco said to himself.

He had also found out that some of their powers actually matches with Bram Stoker's work. Turning into a bat, turning into a wolf, and turning into mist. The only thing vampires in mewni can't do is turn into a rat.

(A/N: I heard the rat transformation thing somewhere. Just can't remember where.)

He also found out that vampires in mewni can not only transform into a single bat, but also an entire small flock of them. Figures. What really stood out was that alpha vampires can turn into a humanoid bat creature. Interesting.

"Ok I can definitely cross shapeshifting off the list." Marco muttered to himself.

He searched for other powers, and discovered that besides the usual bloodsucking and turning others to vampires with vampire venom, they can also hypnotize or charm people to do their bidding. Definitely something straight out of a movie or something on tv.

"Well that's not comforting." Marco said to himself.

He already has Janna to worry about doing that, he doesn't need a vampire trying to do it.

"Ok, what else is there?" He asked to no one in particular.

He read through more, and he found more vampiric powers. An alpha vampire, also known as the head vampire, can unleash a sonic screech that can be used as a weapon to keep enemies at bay, or disorient them. When an alpha turns someone, the turned victim is referred to as a New Blood. Head vampires can communicate with New Bloods, and other vampires by using vampire telepathy. They can't do this with anyone else unless they're a vampire.

"Well, I definitely have no plans to be bitten anytime soon." Marco said to himself as he continued.

Vampires who lack a mate after a certain period of time will go into heat, much like some animals, but it varies as to when it occurs with each individual vampire. They go into heat when they set their sights on their potential mate/lover. But it's not just with anyone. They have to study and analyze the potential mate before engaging in anything intimate.

"Not sure if I needed to know that." Marco said to himself.

"Know what?"

"AH!"

Marco yelped in surprise as he whipped around to see queen Moon Butterfly standing behind him.

"Oh, it's you." Marco sighed in relief, calming down after his mini heart attack.

"Is everything alright, Marco?" Moon asked.

"Y-yeah, you just spooked me is all. I'm just a little on edge after finding out that vampires are real, and there just so happens to be one on the loose." Marco explained.

"Oh... Star must've already told you then." Moon said.

"Yeah. It didn't exactly help after visiting and seeing Hekapoo in a hospital bed... or the fact that there's been another victim besides Rhombulus. Which I'm sorry to hear about." Marco said to the Butterfly Queen.

"It's fine, Marco. Just be glad that you weren't here when she first broke out." Moon reassures.

"I guess." Marco says in an unsure tone, turning his attention back to the books.

"May I ask what it is you're reading about?" Moon asked.

"Vampires. Since vampires are actually a myth back on earth, and the only reliable sources I have come from fiction or myth, the only source I have is the royal library. Besides, if I ask anyone else, they might just spew some useless tall tale nonsense... bad enough that the townsfolk do that with the monsters." Marco explained, muttering the last bit to himself but still loud enough to hear.

"I see your point. But you could've talked to me about them if you wanted." Moon suggested.

"True, but I don't exactly know your work schedule or what could come up at the last minute. So I took an easier route." Marco explained himself.

"I see. Well, if you need anything just let me or Star know, alright?" said Moon.

"I appreciate it, your highness, but I'll be heading back to earth soon. But thanks for the offer." Marco said to the queen.

"Very well then. Good luck, Marco, and safe travels." Moon said to the earth teen before leaving.

"Thank you." said Marco.

Marco then resumed his reading once he was alone.

Weaknesses. Garlic; doesn't kill them, but does propel them or keep them at bay. Wooden stake; straight to the heart for an instant kill. Head vampires are harder to kill with a generic wooden stake, so multiple stakes or an upgraded stake or holier weapon is required. Sunlight; powerless once in the sunlight. Feral minded vampires, however, burn to ash once in sunlight. Holy weapons; cross/crucifix, holy water, silver, holy stake (wooden or silver), and any weapon blessed to become holy. Other weaknesses; unknown.

"This is definitely handy." Marco said to himself.

He read through more books, but they either said the same thing, or didn't say as much as the previous book. So deciding to switch gears, Marco decided to search through more books to see if he can find anything on Eclipsa. The queen turned vampire.

He didn't find much. Some of the books either told very little about her, or didn't mention her at all. All except for one.

This book contained the historical documentations of each queen besides the spell book. Of course, the spell book acted more like a diary for them, with only some parts of history written inside. This book however, contained the actual history of each Butterfly queen.

He looked through, and discovered that Eclipsa's mother, Queen Solaria, was an absolute monster! Not in the physical sense, but in the moral sense. No wonder she was called the monster carver. Jeez!

"Ok, glad to know that she's dead." Marco commented.

Getting paranoid, he quickly looked around himself to be sure that no one was around that heard that. Can't be too careful.

Seeing that he's alone, he returns to the book. He read that she died in an ambush set by the monsters while Eclipsa was just a child.

Ok, ouch. Surprising to see that she didn't turn out like her mother.

Turning the next page, he found out that Eclipsa actually dabbled in dark magic. But she actually didn't use them often given how dangerous they are. So she only used them when deemed necessary. They're not evil spells, just spells that if used irresponsibly, or used in the wrong hands, could prove to be devastating. So she kept her chapter in the spell book as a 'use only if necessary' or basically the spells are for those that are responsible enough to use them. Or something. But she didn't keep it as a forbidden chapter, that would be the high commission's doing. He still remembers when Star read through it, and didn't really care for it. But when he read through it, he remembers blacking out. That's it. But Star did tell him what happened, and he still has chills about it.

Shivers*

As he continued reading, he found out that she was put into an arranged marriage with someone named King Shastacan. Just looking at his picture alone, Marco could tell that he screams coward, and douchebag.

Yeeeeeeeeeah, he already doesn't like him.

He could tell from the picture with him and Eclipsa in the same picture that she doesn't like him either. He kinda felt bad for her.

Marco turned to the next page to find a picture of a rather handsome looking man. Marco decided to read this part out loud to himself.

"Gregory Von Red. A royal lord from an, at the time, unknown kingdom. Lord Gregory was known as a kind and passionate man to those that were worthy of his kindness. He was sought after by many suitors, but none caught his eye. That is until he met Queen Eclipsa Butterfly. Lord Gregory managed to sweep the Butterfly Queen off her feet with his charms, and managed to steal her away from King Shastacan. But it was later discovered that Lord Gregory was in fact a vampire lord, who then later turned Eclipsa."

"Wait. Gregory?" Marco asked himself.

He thought back to his the two previous dreams he had. This mysterious woman in dreams said Gregory in the first dream, and kept repeating it at the end of the dream after. Could the woman in his dreams be... Eclipsa?

This... does make sense to the odd vampiric gothic theme he keeps seeing. But what doesn't make sense, is why is he dreaming about her?

He wasn't entirely sure. But it did answer the question as to who that was. But why was she calling him Gregory? That just left him with more questions than answers.

Marco read more, which explained how Lord Gregory was hunted down, and killed by a barbed cross to the heart. Eclipsa was furious, and went on a bloody rampage until she was finally caught by the high commission. They would've used the barbed cross, but it unfortunately went missing.

Marco turned the page for anymore info on Eclipsa, but found that the next page was on Festivia the fun. He closed the book afterwards, and began to ponder on this information.

He decided to look through the book that he was reading before that contained the information of vampires in mewni. He checked the glossary to see if it had what he was looking for. Luckily, it did.

"Ok let's see... Vampire Lords and clans." He said to himself.

Luckily, the page had its own mini glossary, and found the page with Lord Gregory. Which just so happened to be near the end of the book. It basically said the same stuff the Queen's history book said about him. Kind and passionate. Nothing much else, other than the fact that he was actually an aspiring genius. But Marco did find out that a rival vampire clan, the Lunar Diamond clan, did have it out for him. The book said nothing else, other than that the vampires are supposed to have gone extinct after Eclipsa's demise. Some have speculated that the remaining survivors have gone into hiding, but no sightings or appearances of vampires have arisen since then. Lord Gregory's kingdom now left abandoned, and the location has been lost to time.

This was definitely a lot for Marco to process. He didn't find anything else in the other books he found, so it's safe to say that this was all could find right now.

He written down notes on his phone so he wouldn't forget what he learned, and left the library to get some fresh air.

...

Outside, near the castle...

Marco decided to clear his head a bit more by the pond or lake near the castle. Not sure what to call the body of water. Thankfully it was broad daylight, so Marco had nothing to worry about. At least, he thinks he doesn't.

This whole vampire thing is starting to get to him.

He took a seat in the grass near the water's edge. He honestly wasn't sure what to do. How is he supposed to move past something like this? I mean, before he left mewni after Toffee's defeat, he felt like a joke. Seriously, the cape he was given by River wasn't even a cape for Knights when he figured out that it was his meat blanket, so of course he gave it back to him before leaving mewni. He tried to form a resistance during Ludo's takeover, but that backfired spectacularly. The only big accomplishments he's ever done while spending time with Star was overthrow the headmaster at Saint Olga's, earn dimensional scissors during Hekapoo's trial, and punch Toffee through his chest. He's beginning to feel like that he was only a bumbling sidekick.

Marco stared at his reflection in the water as he thought this stuff over. Who was he before Star arrived? A safe kid thinking he was a bad boy. Who was he afterwards? The princess's karate sidekick with a dragon-cycle and his only access to magic being dimensional scissors. Honestly, his loyal dragon-cycle, named Nachos, and his dimensional scissors are pretty good perks. Especially since he's friends with a princess from another dimension that can do magic. Guess there were some good things that came out of his misadventures as a sidekick.

Marco smiled at the thought of the good stuff that happened while being Star's friend. But as he stared at his reflection, he saw another person's reflection appear next to him. His eyes widened with fear as he realized that it looked like the woman from his dream.

"I found you..." she whispered.

Marco yelped, and landed on his back. He quickly crawled away as he whipped around to see that there wasn't anyone next to him.

He slowed his panicked breathing as he slowly calmed down. Marco looked back into the water to see that the woman's reflection was no longer there.

"What the heck?" He muttered to himself.

When he looked up from the water, he spotted a white wolf sitting on the opposite side of the water across from him.

Marco knew for sure that that wolf wasn't there before.

He and the wolf stared at each other for what felt like minutes before the wolf got up, and walked away, deep into the woods up ahead.

Deciding he's freaked out enough as it is, he gets up from the ground, and quickly makes his way back to the castle.

...

Earth, Diaz household...

After saying his goodbyes to Star, Marco opened a portal back home to his house, and found himself in the living room where his parents are.

"Marco! Welcome back! How was seeing Star again?" His father, Rafael Diaz, greeted enthusiastically.

"Uh, pretty good. Well, except for the fact that apparently there's a situation going down in mewni." Marco said, a little nervous to tell them what's happening.

"What kind of situation?" His mother, Angie Diaz, asked.

"Umm. How do I put this? Well... there's apparently a former queen on the loose that's been trapped inside a crystal for three hundred years who broke out... aaaaaaand she's also a vampire." Marco hesitantly explained.

"A vampire?!" His parents exclaimed in shock.

"But aren't vampires a myth?" His mother asked.

"Yeah, I thought the same thing until I saw Hekapoo in a hospital bed after getting into a fight with her." Marco explained, taking a seat in a chair, and resting his face in one of his hands.

"Were there by chance any, you know... victims?" His father asked with hesitation.

"Yeah. Two of them. The first victim being Rhombulus, the warden of the high commission, and the other one being recent. It was some peasant guy that I don't know. So far, no one else. Not yet at least." Marco answered.

"That's horrible." His father said.

"Is Star ok?" His mom asked.

"Yeah, she's fine. Just a little freaked out about what's happening. We just finished dealing with Toffee, now we're dealing with this." Marco said to his parents.

"Well at least you're safe here." His father reassured.

"Yeah I guess, but I can't help but worry about what's happening." Marco voiced his concern.

"Well, maybe some time with your friends at school will put you at ease a little." His mom said.

"I guess." Marco said with almost no emotion, the events of today and last night beginning to catch up with him.

"Well, other than all the seriousness going on, did you know that your teacher, Miss Skullnick, is taking a vacation?" His mother asked, changing the subject.

"Uh, no, no I did not. Any reason why?" Marco asked.

"The principal said she's cashing in her vacation days to get away from the boring mundane things at school, and to hopefully catch a date." His mom answered.

"Ok, ew. I did not need to hear that last part." Marco said, a little grossed out about that last part.

"So who's going to teach in her class?" He asked.

"Not sure. I was told that her classroom would be getting a substitute to fill in for her until she gets back." Angie answered.

"Well hopefully they keep the whole class awake." Marco quipped, earning a chuckle from his parents.

...

After dinner, Marco decided to turn in early for the night, the feeling of fatigue starting to consume his mind. It didn't take long until sleep finally took hold of him.

...

Marco's dream...

Marco once again found himself in a familiar world with a blood red night sky, and red glowing moon.

"Ah jeez, not again." Marco said out loud.

But he looked around to see that the landscape changed from the mountain cave to something much different.

He found himself to be standing in front of the big doors of the gothic version of Butterfly castle. He didn't know what to do other than stare at the massive doors.

Suddenly, the doors creaked open from an unknown source, startling him to taking a karate stance.

He kept his guard up once the doors fully opened to reveal nothing but darkness. But then a figure began to step out of the darkness, and into the red colored light before stopping at the mouth of the doors.

It was the same woman from his previous dreams, and she appeared to be carrying something wrapped in a blanket. Her attention is focused solely on the bundle in her arms. She reached a finger to it, and a tiny hand reached up to grasp it.

It suddenly dawned onto Marco that she's carrying a baby. With that thought in mind, he relaxed his stance as he watched her.

Suddenly, the two in front of him was whisked away like sand blowing in the wind.

Marco was confused as to what happened. But then he heard someone walk out of the darkness again.

The same woman walked out of the shadows, this time she's walking with a child along side her, and she's holding her hand.

Marco still couldn't get a good look at the woman's face, and the child was no different. The child was wearing a hooded robe that concealed their features. The two stopped where they were, which was where the woman stopped last time.

The woman's red eyes glowed as she stared at Marco, making him nervous. Even the child's eyes glowed red from within the shadow of their hood.

"Daddy?" Said a little girl's voice.

...

Marco suddenly woke up in a cold sweat, just like last time. His mind in a mild panic before calming down. He sat up in bed as he wiped his sweat drenched forehead.

"What the hell is going on with me?" He asked himself.

...

And done!

Ok, this chapter wouldn't have been possible without the help of Gabeherndon308.

The white wolf in the story is a small tribute to the white dog in the classic vampire movie The Lost Boys.

The barbed cross mentioned in the story is a tribute to the barbed cross in the Infamous 2 dlc festival of blood.

The weaknesses and abilities are a mix and match of different vampire medias, so hopefully it's satisfying for some of you.

Anyways, until next time, see ya in the next one.

Oh! And be sure to check out my other stories if want if you're bored.
