I'm back at it again!
Spooky month may be over, but that doesn't mean I can't do anything for stories involving the bloodsuckers of the night.
Also, I looked back on the previous chapter and noticed I put two colors of Mrs. E's lipstick. Allow me to clear things up and say that it's Burgundy colored.
Ok, with that out of the way, I'll also be doing responses at the end of the chapters so I can try and focus on writing the chapter. Emphasis on the 'try' part.
Ok, let's continue where we left off before I run out of fumes.
I don't own anything.
...
After having a couple of scares from the substitute teacher, the bell rang, and everyone began to walk out of the classroom to enter the halls as they made their way towards the next one.
But while everyone began to leave, Marco was slow due to his newfound drowsiness, and was one of the last students about to leave the room.
That is until he's stopped by the substitute teacher, Mrs. E.
"Oh, Marco."
Marco flinched just as he froze in his tracks from being called out by her, his half lidded eyes flared open in surprise, and his heart pounded from the short dose of sudden adrenaline.
He turned to face her, and saw a look of concern on her face, unlike the odd smiling stare from earlier.
"Are you sure you're quite alright?" She asked.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to get more sleep, that's all." Marco reassured her.
Luckily for him, she seemed satisfied with the answer, and didn't press further.
"Very well then. Hopefully you get this whole sleep trouble sorted out. We wouldn't want this to be a reoccurring issue, now would we?" She said.
"No, we wouldn't." Marco said, leaving the classroom.
But the karate boy fails to notice Mrs. E's lingering gaze on him as he left.
...
Cafeteria, lunch time...
After going through a couple of the usual morning classes, it's now lunchtime, and Marco, Janna, Jackie, Alfonzo, and Ferguson are at a lunch table talking about whatever's on their minds today.
In this case, it's the new substitute teacher, and how Marco got spooked by her in class.
"I'm telling you guys, she looks just like her!" Marco said to his friends.
"Wait, she looks like who?" Ferguson asked, a little confused.
"She looks just like Eclipsa! The woman I keep seeing in my dreams!" Marco exclaimed.
"Oh... never heard of her." Ferguson said.
"You didn't tell them?" Marco said, looking at Janna with a mildly annoyed expression.
"No, why? Was I supposed to?" Janna asked.
"Well I assumed you would have, considering that you spy on me all the time as well as know everything that's going on with me." Marco pointed out.
"Ok true. But, anyways, no I didn't. Must've slipped my mind. But I don't see why you're bugging out, dude. You said that the woman in your dreams has green hair, and last time I checked, Mrs. E has black hair." Janna said, pointing out one detail that doesn't match.
"Ok true, but she could've used magic to change her hair color... or just simply dyed it." Marco countered.
"But there's no way of knowing without any proof." Janna said.
"And I don't know how to do that without proper excuses, or without being seen as a creepy stalker." Marco said.
Marco then rested his head in his hands with a tired groan. "Why me?"
"Sheesh, man. First, Toffee, now this? It's like you're becoming a magnet for the weird and wild like Star." Alfonzo said.
"Pretty sure that already happened when she first came to earth. But that's not the point." Marco said.
"Then what is the point?" Janna asked.
"The point is I have reason to believe that Eclipsa has found me when I visited, Star, back in Mewni. Because after I was done reading up on vampires in the Royal library, I decided to take a moment to reflect on my life at this large pond. Then, Eclipsa's reflection appears next to me, and said that she 'found me' in a whisper. I freak out, and see that there's no one next to me. Then I see a white wolf on the opposite end of the pond that wasn't there before. Then after I got home, and go to sleep, I have another dream of her. Then today we have a new substitute teacher, WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HER, except for the hair color. Do I even need to bring up the fact that her name is Mrs. E. E, as in Eclipsa! Not to mention that she kept staring at me for awhile." Marco said, going through a mini rant.
"Ok, I'll admit. That's hard to argue against." Janna said.
"But maybe it's a coincidence that she just so happens to match Eclipsa's description, and she was probably staring at you out of concern after you freaked out about a bat you pretended to hallucinate about." Jackie pointed out.
"Yeah... that could be true too." Marco sighed in exhaustion, not really knowing what to do from here.
"Well, do you know what Eclipsa's cheek marks look like?" Janna asked.
Marco's tired mind was confused for a moment. Until he finally realized what the question was.
"Huh? Well, now that you mentioned it, yeah. In the dreams however, I never saw her up close. She stood at a certain distance from me. She only stood close enough to where I could make out the basic details, but never her cheek marks. But I was able to figure it out from one of the books on her that had a picture of her. Her cheek marks are spades with a burgundy red color. Other than that, I've got nothing else." Marco said.
"Well then, good luck Van Helsing." Janna quipped.
"Psh! Is that seriously the best comparison you can come up with? That's pretty overused if you ask me." Ferguson said.
Janna arched an eyebrow at that.
"Oh yeah? Than who would you compare him to?" She asked in a more daring way.
"Cole MacGrath from inFAMOUS 2 DLC, Festival of Blood." Ferguson said without missing a beat.
"Who?"
"He's a video game character."
"Never heard of him."
"*GASP* You uncultured swine!"
...
Later, after school...
Once school had ended for the day, everyone went home, and that includes Marco.
Marco would've used his interdimensional scissors to cut open a portal for a quick and easy trip back home, but he wasn't in a rush, and he felt a little lazy from his fatigue.
But he wasn't lazy enough for the bus. He didn't want to risk accidentally falling asleep on the bus, and miss his stop. So he decided to head back home on foot so he could stay awake, as well as think to himself without any interruptions.
CHIRP*
"AH!"
Marco was suddenly startled by the chittering of a singular bird flying out of nowhere, and flew up ahead of him, out of sight, which is then followed by a bus driving past him.
...Ok, almost without any interruptions.
Marco sighed in relief, and continued onwards.
As the karate boy walked home, he thought back to what happened earlier in class when Mrs. E kept staring at him in class. Ok, sure, it's probably only because she was worried about him like she said she was, but Marco couldn't help but question it.
He's probably overthinking it from the paranoia, and it's just a coincidence that she just so happens to look just like Eclipsa.
But Marco couldn't shake the feeling he got from that stare.
It felt... off.
Like he knew it wasn't a stare of worry. Because that small smile she had while she stared was telling Marco a different story when combined with her gaze. But his tired mind at the time wasn't able to place what her gaze held in her eyes towards him.
'I don't know what it is, but something isn't right about Mrs. E... or maybe I'm being paranoid.' Marco thought.
Wanting to give his tired mind a rest, he decided to just put those thoughts off to the side for now until he got back home.
He's lucky he didn't have any homework tonight.
'Maybe sometime after dinner I can go to bed early, and catch up on some lost sleep hours.' Marco thought to himself.
As Marco reached his house, he noticed that the house across the street got sold. It's for sale sign now saying 'SOLD'.
"Huh. I never noticed that the house across from us was for sale." Marco said to himself.
Marco turned, and made his way towards his door, ready to calm his nerves with a home cooked meal made by his parents as they enjoyed each other's company.
Speaking of which...
As Marco was just about to open the door, he heard his parents chatting with a new voice in the house. Curious, he pressed his ear against the door to hear who was the third person within the house.
But the voice he heard behind the door... made the blood in his body go cold, and his face turn numb.
Trying to remain calm, while trying his best to keep himself from shaking, Marco grasped the door handle, and opened the door to see...
...Mrs. E talking to his parents in the living room.
"What the?!" Marco exclaimed in both surprise and shock.
His sudden surprised outburst caught the attention of the three adults in the room.
"Oh, Marco, you're back!" His mother, Angie, greeted.
"Uh, yeah, b-but why's the substitute teacher here? No offense." Marco said.
"None taken." Mrs. E said.
"That's because she just moved into the house across the street, and we figured we'd welcome her to the neighborhood." His father, Rafael, explained.
"But how did she get here before me?" Marco asked, honestly confused.
"I took the bus, darling. I would've taken my car, but I'm afraid it's in the shop." Mrs. E explained.
"Oh." Marco said simply. But then a thought came to mind. "Wait, is she staying for dinner?" He asked.
"We wouldn't mind, but that's up to her." Angie said.
"I don't know. I mean, I wouldn't want to impose." Mrs. E said.
"Nonsense! We insist!" Rafael said gleefully.
Several minutes had passed, and everyone is sitting at the table eating enchiladas. The three adults are currently having a conversation about Echo Creek's former resident of the Diaz household, Star Butterfly.
Mrs. E did question if any of the magical antics of Star were real or not, but Marco had plenty of evidence from the photos and videos taken at the time... most of them from Janna.
While Mrs. E did chuckle at the antics that both Marco and Star got into, Marco couldn't help but notice that her eyes held something each time they talked about how close the duo are. But he couldn't tell what it was.
"So, Mrs. E, would you mind sharing a little about yourself? That is if you want to of course." Angie asked.
"I don't mind. I can spill a few little tidbits about myself." Mrs. E said.
"So what made you want to move to Echo Creek?" Rafael asked before taking a bite of his enchiladas.
Mrs. E hummed in thought before she spoke.
"I suppose it's because I needed a little change in scenery. People didn't seem to like me very much just because I didn't act or think like them, but I tried not to let that get to me at the time. Nowadays I couldn't care less on what others think of me, and be myself." Mrs. E explained.
"Well that's good." Angie said. "But did you ever marry?" She asked.
Mrs. E's eyes look away for a moment before she spoke.
"Well, actually... yes. But I'd rather not talk about it. Let's just say that it was rather... tragic for him." Mrs. E answered with some hesitation, her head lowered while her eyes held sadness.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know." Angie apologized.
"I-It's fine. You didn't know." Mrs. E said.
Marco sat in silence when they spoke. Whether or not if Mrs. E was Eclipsa, and he still wasn't sure due to not having enough info, Marco couldn't help but feel bad for her. He couldn't imagine what she went through to lose her husband.
Everyone sat in silence for a moment, until Rafael decided to change the subject.
"Ok, how about a topic that's not depressing. Do you by chance have any hobbies that you're really into?" He asked.
Mrs. E seemed to perk up a little from that question.
"I do, actually. I can sing, and I can also play guitar." Mrs. E answered.
"Really? What kind of music do you like?" Angie asked.
"Well I'm into acoustic, but I'm also into metal." Mrs. E answered.
"You're into metal?" Marco questioned, honestly surprised by that.
"Indeed. Bet you didn't expect your substitute teacher to be a metal head, now did you?" Mrs. E said.
"No I did not. I don't really know anyone that's into metal." Marco said.
"Well now you do." Mrs. E said, then taking a sip of her beverage.
...
After dinner, Marco volunteered to do the dishes while the adults chatted amongst themselves. As he scrubbed away the remains of the enchiladas from a porcelain plate, his eyelids began to grow heavy, and then slowly close. He had to shake his head in order to prevent his eyelids from closing all the way, and to keep himself awake.
'I guess the fatigue is starting to get to me.' Marco thought.
While he continued to wash the plates, he noticed that it was oddly quiet for moment.
But then, he began to hear a soothing hum of a woman that lulled him into a trance.
His scrubbing slowed until he remained still with half lidded eyes.
He felt that someone was approaching behind him, but he didn't know who it was. All that he knew was that they were the source of the humming, and they slowly got closer.
He then felt their hands rest on his shoulders gently, and he heard them whisper in his ear.
"...I know that you know, sweetheart..."
Marco recognized the voice.
"Huh?"
He then felt his neck get punctured by two sharp objects, and he knew it could only mean one thing...
...She. Bit. Him...
The moment he felt the sudden pain in his neck, Marco yelled out in terror. He whipped around to see, not Mrs. E, but his mother, and she seemed surprised by his sudden outburst.
"What the? What happened?" He asked, his heart pounding in his chest.
He then quickly checked the left side of his neck with his left hand. He felt no bite mark, and saw that there wasn't any blood on his hand. In fact, the sudden pain he felt before seemed nonexistent.
"Marco, are you ok? I didn't mean to scare you." Angie asked in concern.
"I'm honestly not sure. Wasn't Mrs. E standing behind me?" Marco asked.
"What? No. She left a few minutes ago. But seriously, Marco, what's wrong?" Angie asked.
Marco was reluctant to tell her, but he did anyways.
"I've been having these weird dreams about this vampire woman lately, and I'm convinced that it's Eclipsa. They only occurred three times, twice on one night, and then once the night after. I keep waking up in the middle of the night after the end of each dream, and it's making me tired, but now I think I'm hallucinating or something. Which doesn't make sense, because even though I'm tired, but I'm not that tired." Marco explained.
"Oh, sweetie, I had no idea that you were having sleep troubles. Did this happen before or after Star told you about the vampire problem in mewni?" Angie asked.
"Before."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because I didn't think it would be a problem until now."
"Well, why don't you head to bed early, Marco? Your father and I will handle the dishes, and you can catch up on some sleep."
"Thanks, Mom."
"No problem, dear."
...
Man this took awhile to get out. Sorry for the wait.
Before we get to the responses, I have to tell you guys something weird that happened awhile ago; I had a dream where two different situations happened that involves my vampire Eclipsa story.
1. Marco, Star and whoever else, go and take either a horse carriage or vehicle to try and escape a cabin in the woods where Eclipsa could be hiding in the woods or heading towards. But her vampire minions (I'm assuming) disguised as firemen wearing gas masks, block the road, saying it's too dangerous to pass or can't pass because of a blocked vehicle (semi truck with either a trailer or gas tank) or a fallen tree. One is too rude, and Marco starts fighting back.
2. Eclipsa begins to hunt/chase a terrified Star around an empty car wash or warehouse facility. She's running, she scream's when bats appear, and scream's again when Eclipsa appears.
Pretty weird that I dreamt that, right? Long story short, it's given me ideas for future chapters.
Anyways, before we close out the chapter, let's get to the responses:
neztro: You're welcome, and thank you. Looking forward to seeing the next chapter of your take on vampire Eclipsa.
gabeherndon308: Thank you.
Lerans:Thank you, much appreciated.
Ohma flame: That's some good advice for going against vampires. I'd like to say something about the wolf, but I can't because of spoiler reasons.
Guest: Sorry for the wait, but don't worry I'll get to it when I can.
cukittalinda10: She is indeed dedicated, and here's the chapter.
See you guys in the next chapter, and happy holidays.
