The music rang loudly against the speakers of his car, make you mine from PUBLIC, was playing. She honestly never thought of Romeo being the type to listen to that kind of music. She smiled to herself realizing that now she was really going to get to know him. The thought of possibly getting close to him sprung and deep down her stomach went warm. He was busy driving, the blinkers going crazy here and there. And soon she realized that they went to a neighborhood she had never seen in her own town.

He had obviously always lived in luxury. The homes were well kept, all around. Clean neighborhoods, joggers, parks, water fountains. A true paradise.

She stared on looking around, and kept quiet as he pulled up to a giant luxurious house, with a spectacular view. He pulled up to the side of the curb and his eyes wandered the house. He bit his lips together, and switched off the cars engine almost nervously. His blue eyes snatched glances towards the house, and Amaya eyed him with worry.

"is everything alright?"

Romeo quickly looked to her, and half shook his head and half nodded. "it's just, I wasn't expecting to come by and see my father's car parked out in the driveway. I thought he was still deployed."

Amaya blinked, so his father was still in the military. "Aren't you happy, though?"

He avoided her question, and instead opened the car door, "would you like to come with me?"

The girl stared at him, almost trying to convince herself that he didn't look nervous.

"It'll be quick, I promise."

That confidence he always portrayed seemed to spill off him like wax did to a candle. She was curious why this change of attitude was so sudden. Ever since she had re-met him, he had always been so confident, so alpha. It was a trait she quietly admired of him. Yet here and now it seemed like he was nothing more than a small child.

Did he have a bad relationship with his parents? His dad?

"Sure, I'd love to meet your parents."

He chuckled in a 'if you say so' matter, and nodded. Without another word he pulled on his car keys, and they jingled as he stepped out of his car. Quickly he walked over to her side and opened the door for her. Amaya stepped out with a worried expression, his vibes were terrifying her, and doubt inevitably settled in her heart.

Amaya looked to him, and he took a deep breath. Now that she saw the concern in his eyes she worried even more. Where they terrible people? He pinched his lips together and with all that confidence lost, he invited her to walk towards the driveway. She noticed as he strictly only ever stepped on the stones against the perfectly trimmed grass. He stared straight up towards what looked like a camera as they passed the walkway and she quietly followed him to the entrance of the house.

With a soft press of a button he rang the doorbell.

Romeo couldn't help but feel stressed. His relationship with his father had never been a good one. He guessed that being a Lieutenant made him the way he was. Even then, though, he himself wasn't a soldier. He was his son.

There was a loud unlocking sound, and soon the pair was greeted by an elderly woman, with a stern pair of eyes and a black facemask on her. Amaya suddenly felt out of place and desperately wanted to go back into his car and have him drive her home.

"Master Romeo." The woman opened the door quietly and stepped to the side, allowing space for them to pass through. Her eyes wandered Amaya, and the girl bit her lips.

"Madam."

Romeo sighed and looked to Amaya before returning his attention to the older woman. "Missus Ava… how are you? Is my mother home?"

"Sir, Cain is home as well." Her eyes were at his and Romeo looked distressed. "We can come back another day."

"No."

The elder woman shook her head and beckoned them to come in. She then grabbed a spray gadget with a blue light and without warning sprayed the pair with what smelled like alcohol.

They were led quietly to the homes living room and the woman walked away without another word.

To say that this house was luxurious was an understatement. Fine art covered the walls, portraits of important looking people, and one of the poet of all history William Shakespeare. Marble floors, a giant staircase, that Amaya had only seen in movies, a bar at the end of the corridor, it was simply grand.

Romeo turned to Amaya, his eyes were unlike anything she had seen. He looked concerned, he looked restless, he looked stressed, and she dared think it, scared.

After a while of standing there, the owners of the mini mansion came to attend them. Amaya stared in silence as a blonde woman with bright blue eyes, much like Romeo's, came into view. She was dressed with Capri pants and sandals, and a shirt that hugged her curvy figure.

Right besides her was a man in his mid 50's, with dark hair and much like his son had a white streak just atop his left eye. He had one blue eye and one green. He was dressed in a much more stern matter, with a dark turtle neck and black dress pants. With polished fancy shoes. He looked like the spitting image of Romeo, and Amaya had no doubt that the pair were his parents.

The scientist stared in silence as the two finally reached them, and they simply stood in front of them without saying one word.

"To what do we owe the pleasure?" the woman spoke, as she offered for them to sit in one of the fluffy couches. It seemed much less than a family meeting and more like a business trip.

"Hazel, Cain." He looked at the pair and then towards Amaya. "I- we, were just in the neighborhood. I'm leaving back to Knightsfairy, I just thought i-we paid you a visit." His eyes suddenly reached the ground. "we hadn't spoken in nearly five years." He looked up again, this time to his father. "I wanted to know how you were."

His father had his eyes locked on him, "as you can see we're fine."

The comment came out louder than Amaya had expected, and she instinctively jumped as the man's loud voice boomed.

Romeo clenched his jaw and shook his head, "I see that."

"Then what else can I offer you?" Cain eyed Amaya and shook his head in disapproval. "And who is this?"

There was a bitter moment of silence before Hazel shook her head slightly.

"This is, Amaya, Cain."

"and what is she doing in my house?"

"is that any way to treat a guest?" Romeo retorted. "you haven't even met her and-,"

"and what boy!?" his father visibly reddened and quietly Romeos mother began to make her way to the bar at the end of the corridor.

"If I would've known you were here, I wouldn't have come by."

"that's why phones exist, Mecano. That's the problem with you, you never think."

"you know what, I don't have to take anything from you, we're leaving."

Cain huffed through his nostrils and also headed towards the bar at the end of the corridor.

Romeo shook his head and began his way towards the door, Amaya simply followed her mentor. When they reached the door, his father spoke loudly to his wife mostly for the boy to hear. "I told you, you should have aborted the little bastard. Should've cut his balls when he was a boy, with such a pussy that he is."

Amaya's lips went in a line and Romeo opened the door before they could hear any more his father had to say about his own son. She soon realized why he had chosen to leave so soon. And why he had been the villain when they were kids. All the dots were finally connected. Yet she found it astonishing that he had accomplished so much now that he was an adult.

They quietly walked out the property and he unlocked the doors to the car, and quietly sat at the driver's seat. His eyes had lost their shine and he stared emptily at the steering wheel.

Amaya buckled up and closed the door behind her, her eyes locked on the face of the man and she decided it was appropriate that she placed her hand on top of his. She genuinely felt sorry for him.

"You know…" he let her hand rest on his, the warmth making him come back to reality. "If I would've known that he was here… I wouldn't have brought you." He looked to her, his eyes still without that shine. "I am so sorry. You have no idea the guilt I feel for you having to have witnessed him."

The young girl blinked, he had done nothing wrong. There was absolutely nothing he should have apologized for. "Romeo, I'm the one that's sorry. I had no idea."

The man was quiet for a while until he pulled on his car keys from his pocket. He started the engine of the car and grabbed on to her hand firmly squeezing it before shifting into gear. "it's getting late, isn't it?"

The girl nodded and let go of his hand.

The shine in his eyes returned suddenly, and that wolfish smile of his suddenly crept on his lips again, and for a second Amaya melted. Joy was brought to her again when he shook his head and began to drive.

"Hey, McDonald's or Subway?"

Amaya was glad that he could shake off his father's nasty words so quickly. Had he gone through that abuse his whole life? He turned up the stereo and music blasted pleasantly. He drove off into an intersection quickly, it almost seemed that he wanted to get away as fast as he could from there.

"Why not a pizza?"

Romeo turned his blinker and eyed her before looking at the road again. "Hey I wanted to ask… I reserved our airplane tickets, right?"

Amaya shifted in her seat, all her attention on him.

"But, are you up for a road trip?" He smiled as the proposition left his lips.

"umm… why?" She grabbed at the strap of the seatbelt. "what did you have in mind?"

"We can rent an RV, if you'd like… instead of taking a plane to Knightsfairy." He glanced at her then back to the road. "I mean only if you'd like." He chuckled, "do you want to travel the country with me?"

Her eyes widened and she blushed. "I mean… I've never been one much for road trips."

"oh… OK."

Romeo placed his glasses back on his face, and turned the stereo up again. Only this time they sat in silence. He pulled up to a pizza place suddenly, and quickly parked in an empty slot. He unbuckled his seat belt and without a word stepped out of his car without turning off the engine of the car so the A/C ran for her.

Her eyes glued to his back as he jogged into the pizza place, when he almost entered the place, a man stopped him, with a small red jug. They exchanged words and this once villain quickly nodded and pulled for his wallet, and handed the man a bill. The girl saw as the man in need patted Romeo on the back and bid farewell. The scientist walked in to the pizza place and Amaya looked down at her lap, realizing how much of a man her mentor really was.

How he didn't let the words by his father get the better of him. How he was selfless, how he tried hard to please everyone, how would he do it?

Soon he returned with two boxes of pizzas, and the smell of food met her senses as he opened the door. He handed her the boxes and she gladly accepted them.

"Let's head to my apartment, eat up, and then we head to the airport, yeah?"

The girl nodded eagerly and soon the pair was out of the parking place. After a good 15 minute drive, they arrived into the parking lot of the building.

The walk to his place was quiet, a little tense. She couldn't think of one thing to say, so when the elevator dinged for them she said nothing. He carried the pizza boxes and reached for his key to his apartment, unlocked it, and both stepped in.

Again the place was impeccable, and a bitter feeling settled in. She remembered where he came from. How everything in his parents house was not out of place. How everything was exceptionally clean and even disinfected.

She wondered how compatible she would be to him. And suddenly the offer her mother made rung in her mind. Maybe she would return home before she knew it.

He turned to her and pulled off his glasses, another smile on his lips. He pulled off his jacket and the white shirt clung tightly against his chest and biceps. Amaya blushed and looked away, not wanting to feed on him with her eyes.

"make yourself comfortable, I'm going to go freshen up real quick."

She nodded and he set the pizza boxes on the table in the kitchen. "alright, be back." He was off to what seemed the restroom. She went ahead and walked over to the sink and began on her hands. She didn't know what she was feeling, all of this was new to her… he wasn't acting like a teacher or a mentor, in fact it felt like he was actually integrating her into his life. Which felt slightly weird.

Amaya rolled her eyes at herself and went ahead at the cupboards and searched for a couple of plates. He had restocked his glassware since the last time she had been there. And she was happy to pull out two plates, two glasses, and some napkins.

She went ahead and searched his refrigerator he had two orange juice cartons and a 2.5 liter Coke. She giggled and pulled out the refreshment.

Romeo soon returned and he couldn't help the smile on his face, she had set up the table for them even if it was only for pizza.

"This isn't the healthiest breakfast you know?"

Amaya turned to her phone and though it was past noon, he was right. They hadn't had anything for breakfast.

"I'm not complaining." She giggled as he walked up to the table. The ice was broken once again. The two settled into the kitchen and opened up both the pizza boxes. Amaya served the drinks and Romeo placed a couple slices in the plates. They smiled at each other and quietly began away eating.

"So, Amaya?" He began after a few bites. "you decided what field you're going into?"

Her eyes lit up as this conversation was brought up. She stared into his blue eyes and nodded. "I do."

"And what is it?"

"Meteorology." She took another bite of her pizza and smiled.

"Good, you have talent for that." He sounded like her professor again and this made her relax. If he set those boundaries again then everything would run smoothly. As it was intended to in the beginning.

"Thank you!"

They chatted away quietly and in good spirits, and soon the pair picked up, cleaned up and filled a garbage bag with all the food that was in his refrigerator. She helped him clean up, while he prepared a small backpack with his clothes. Their flight departed for another three hours but they wanted to make sure everything was in order.

He quickly sat behind his miniature office, printed out their boarding passes, and soon the two were off to the first floor. Where Romeo requested a taxi. Soon it arrived and Amaya once more felt threatened with tears.
