Summary: Hinata has always been optimistic about life. She did everything to help those in need, her friends and family. She was well loved by her community. Unfortunately, the beautiful heiress has an untimely death, leaving behind her sister, her widowed father and distraught fiancée. Despite her good deeds, Hinata didn't get a chance to enter the gates of heaven because of being damned by a vampire.
Hinata has two choices: Either she learns to conform to her new life or perish for eternity.
-Hell Bound-
It was July, and summer was about to end just like her life.
A faint bell sounded, and the leaves crushed under the weight of the tires that went full speed over them.
Old man Teuchi was outside sweeping some leaves in front of his restaurant when he heard the beautiful Hyuga princess greeted him. "Good morning, Teuchi!" He lifted his head slightly and he smiled at her when she rode past on her bicycle.
"Good morning, Hinata!" He shouted. He watched as she disappeared down the path before he went inside.
"Was that Hinata, papa?" Ayame, his first daughter, asked. She placed her hand over the counter and leaned forward. Teuchi noticed how quiet she got and looked at her. She was grinning from ear to ear, and he knew all too well what it meant.
"What did you hear this time?"
"Kiba's going to pop the question tonight at her father's birthday party." Teuchi tilted his head to the side and suddenly a wave of laughter escaped his mouth. Ayame frowned and crossed her arms. "Papa, why are you laughing?"
"I actually had a dream she got married a few nights ago." He placed his hand on his chin and stared at the ceiling. "You know it means that person will live a long and prosperous life," He said, nodding his head. Indeed, it does."
Ayame tilted her head to the side. "I thought it meant death,"
He nodded his head slowly. "Did you get the pork like I told you to," His smile turned into a frown.
Ayame sighed under her breath because of her father's forgetfulness. "Yes, yes,"
Strands of long blackish hair flew with the wind as it followed behind a fair-skin maiden. Her big pearl eyes conquered the pavement before her and watched the people who came in and out of view. She was extremely happy today due to an important event. It was her father's birthday.
She slowed the bike down near a jewelry shop and hopped off. The door chimed, and a young red hair girl smiled cheerily.
"Welcome, Hinata."
Hinata nodded as she stepped closer to the glass counter. Hi Karin. I'm here to pick up the present for my father,"
Karin bobbed her head. She grabbed the jewelry box from the counter and placed it in front of Hinata. "It was hard to find this pendant, but we did," She opened the box and Hinata eyed the golden eagle pendant that had little blue jewels in its eyes. "Do you like it?"
Hinata pressed her thumb against it and traced the lining. "Thank you so much Karin. He's been eyeing these for such a long time, and I really don't know what the big deal is. Father has a strange taste when it comes to things like these."
Karin closed the box and began to wrap it with their finest wrapping paper. "It's no problem at all, Hinata. Your family is a valued customer of ours and it's been that way for centuries. We would hate to do anything that will displease you."
Hinata took the bag gently from Karin's hand and waved good-bye. "Thank you again, Karin."
Karin raised her hand slightly and watched Hinata who loaded on her bike.
The sun was slowly setting, and Hinata had just made it in time. She pushed the teal bike into the garage when she spotted her younger sister folding her arms.
"Why can't you use a car like normal people?"
"It was such a nice day so I figured I would take my bike," Hinata smiled towards her sister. "You should join me sometimes," She said, walking past her.
Hanabi followed behind her eldest sister and entered her bedroom. "It's almost six, Hinata. You should start getting ready," She jumped on top of her sister's bed. "Kiba's going to pick us up, right?"
"Yes, he should be her shortly," Hinata replied while taking off her clothes. "I'm going to take a shower," She mentioned before disappearing behind two white doors.
Hinata wiped the fog from the bathroom mirror and she stepped back, staring at her image. She was happier than normal today and it just wasn't because of her father's birthday. A few days ago, she was bedridden. She could hardly move her limbs and she had a jabbing headache. Her body was constantly cold and all she could do was sleep, but no matter how many hours she slept she was still fatigued.
She knew she should have checked in with doctor Tsunade, after all, she was a nurse, but she figured she had picked up something from Konoha Hospital during the night shift that she didn't worry too much about it.
Nonetheless, she was feeling so much better.
She slid into her black V line dress and sprayed some perfume on her delicate skin.
"Hinata," Hanabi called out, "Kiba is waiting for us outside." Hanabi sounded from behind the bathroom door.
The door opened slowly, and Hinata walked cutely. She did a quick spin and smiled brightly. "How do I look?"
Hanabi rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Beautiful. Now are you ready?"
"I just have to brush my hair," Hinata said, sitting down on the small-cushioned chair. She grabbed some of her hair and began to brush through it. Hanabi stared mesmerized at her sister's hair. She picked up an extra brush and began to go through Hinata's hair.
"I don't understand why you keep your hair so long. You should just cut it short."
Hinata looked at her sister through the mirror, and she smiled softly. "Hanabi, you know better than that. A woman's hair is her life. Why would I cut it off?"
Hanabi placed the brush on the vanity dresser and walked lazily to the door. "Let's go before we're late,"
"Coming,"
The night was soft and gentle, and the street lights turned on. Kiba, Hinata's boyfriend, smiled cheerily at the two ladies who exited the luxury house. "You two look lovely tonight," He said opening the door for the two ladies.
Hanabi rolled her eyes at his cheesiness and entered the car.
"Thank you," Hinata said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Kiba was a young veterinarian who worked for his family business. He had met Hinata during their second year in high school, and ever since they've been dating.
As they drove in the car, Hinata noticed he had a huge grin on his face. She stared oddly at the man and suddenly she smiled.
"Why are you grinning like that?" She couldn't help herself from doing that. There was just something so different about Kiba. When he smiled, it was as if the whole room lit up and she couldn't help but show the same positive attitude.
"No reason," He blushed suddenly. "Did you get the gift for Mr. Hyuga?"
Hinata nodded eagerly. "Do you believe this took a month to come in? I just know he's going to love it," Hinata said feeling the yellow ribbon between her fingertips.
Once they had arrived, they entered the grand lobby of the hotel and were greeted by some of the party attenders who also wore black.
"Hinata, I see you're feeling much better," Sakura, another nurse, and good friend said. She wrapped her arms around Hinata and squeezed her tightly.
"I am," She was joyous. "You look very beautiful," Hinata stared in awe. The short cocktail dress fitted Sakura's body frame, and the way she curled her pink hair towards the end really suited her facial structure. She noticed Sakura's eyes were shimmering and a slight grin formed on her glossy lips. "Okay, what's going on? Why are you looking at me like that?"
A slight giggle escaped Sakura's lips and she sipped on some champagne. "I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'll meet you on the rooftop. Your father should be here soon, right?"
Hinata glanced at the big clock on the hotel's wall and saw it was almost time. "Everyone it's time," She announced. "Please head to the rooftop." She said as she made her way to the elevator.
The night smelt amazing as she took a whiff of the air when she made her way to the rooftop. She heard Hanabi and a few other people gasp at the sight of the decorations.
Hanabi pulled her to the side. "Hinata, you did this?" She couldn't help but nod her head. "I didn't know you had it in you, but I must admit it is beautiful."
Hinata smiled gracefully at her sister's praise. "Thank you."
There were many people there, important clients of her father, possible business deals and even the prime minister of Konoha.
The elevator lights lit up signaling someone was about to come out and the soft strings of the guitar began to play Happy birthday.
"Surprise!" Everyone shouted when they spotted Hiashi standing there in all white. The stoic man didn't jump, but he smiled as he scanned the people on the rooftop. "Happy Birthday!"
Everyone gathered around Hiashi and wished him a happy birthday. He thanked each one of them for coming and made his way through the crowd. He confronted his two daughters and they hugged him tightly.
"Happy birthday, papa!" They said.
Hiashi wrapped his arms around his daughters and squeezed them gently. "Who idea was this?" He chuckled.
"Hin-
"Ours." She said pulling her sister into a tight hug. "Do you like?"
"I love it. Thank you,"
Excitement filled Hinata's heart, and she pulled the present from her dress pocket. "Papa before you get your night started, Hanabi and I got you a present."
Hiashi eyed the blue box and took it from Hinata's hand.
"It took some time to find, but we were able to find it," Hinata beamed with joy.
He slowly unwrapped the present, and he unclicked the box to see what lied in it. His eyes opened slightly, but not too much for questioning. His lips tugged upwards and he nodded. "Thank you, Hinata. I've been looking for this for a while. Go ahead and enjoy the party," He nodded his head in Kiba's direction. "Kiba is waiting for you,"
Hinata went on her tiptoes and kissed Hiashi on his cheek. "I'm glad you liked it, papa." She waved at him and skipped merrily to Kiba who was conversating with Sakura.
The band began to play a soft melody which made others slow danced to it.
"May I?" Kiba asked placing his hand out. Hinata smiled cheekily and she placed her hand into his and the two waltzed with the music.
"Kiba, you know I don't know how to dance." Hinata replied with a slight pout.
"I know, but you know how I get," He whispered into her ear.
The couples on the floor swirled and danced along with the music. Hinata failed to notice the crowd getting smaller, and smaller until nobody but Kiba and her were on the floor.
Hinata could feel the spin coming along, and her faced slightly reddened. She knew she could never get the spin right and would somehow fall on her bottom. "Kiba, don't you dare."
He smiled at her and made her spin. She saw a mixture of colors as she spun once. She balanced herself out and smiled. She looked around and notice Kiba was not there and that nobody was dancing anymore. Instead they all looked at her, smiling. She eyed Hanabi who was trying to hide her grin with her hand, and father who had a glint of amusement in his eyes. Then her eyes lingered to Sakura who smiled like a mad woman, was pointing down at the floor.
She cocked her head to the side and stared at the floor. Her eyes widened. Kiba was kneeling on one knee in front of her holding out a box that held a diamond ring.
Her eyes swelled up and she could not believe it.
"Hinata," His voice sounded husky. "Will you ma—
"Yes!" She said without allowing him to finish. Some people laughed at her enthusiasm and others applauded her. He placed the ring on her finger and picked her up, spinning her around.
She was overflowing with happiness. Happiness that would soon come to an end.
It was almost the end of July, and the nights were a little chillier than before. Some horns honked in the background which made Hinata jump from her skin. She slapped her neck when she felt a little bite and she sighed softly.
She just wanted to get into her car as she felt an eerie presence watching her. Her eyes scanned the area, but she didn't see anyone.
As she was inserting her car keys, someone grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth. Her heart raced and she tried to free herself, but whoever this person was had a strong grip on her.
"Hey! Stop!"
Her legs buckled slightly, and she dropped to the floor when her attacker suddenly ran off.
"Are you okay?" The security officer asked. "You work at the hospital?" He questioned as he looked over her scrub. "Let's get you inside."
"No, it's okay," She replied in a low tone.
"Are you sure? Are you okay to drive?"
Hinata stared ahead and nodded slowly. "I must be heading home. Thank you,"
The security back away and stared at the girl strangely who entered her car.
"She has a lot to offer, and her blood is the sweetest I've tasted so far,"
"Oh really?" A handsome man asked. "How sweet?"
"Sweeter than your first blood," The young woman replied seductively. "Makes you want to come back for more,"
The pale skin man dropped a stack of cash on top of the counter, and then was allowed entrance to the backroom. Red lights flashed throughout the room, and a loud techno music filled the scene. The woman pushed the door opened and he met two other men feasting upon a young woman.
The blood from her made his nose wiggled slightly and he felt an arousal stirring in his pants.
"There's no fucking here," She reminded the man.
"Of course," He sounded almost disappointed. He walked over to the girl and position himself between her legs. Her warm skin sent a shiver down his spine and she groaned when he inserted his fangs into her ivory skin.
Hanabi stared worriedly at her sister who was struggling to put on her work scrubs. "Hinata, maybe you shouldn't go to work. You don't look too well. Are you feeling sick again?"
Her once filled face was lifeless, and her skin was a sickly pale color. There were some dark rings around her eyes and her hair wasn't as luscious. "You've been sick for almost a week now. Maybe you should make an appointment with your doctor?"
Hinata shook her head. "I'm fine. I just need to go to work," Her voice trembled. "I'll let you know if I'm coming home early," She grabbed some water out of the fridge and walked to the door.
"Well, at least let me drop you off to work. I don't have to work until later,"
Hinata sighed and nodded.
"I'll pick you up. Just let me know when you're ready to leave," Hanabi told her as she grabbed her keys from the marble table. "Sometimes I wish you weren't like mom." She mumbled under her breath.
The stars lit Konoha and the night sky overshadowed the country. Cars honked at one another by the intersection of Konoha hospital, and police sirens sounded. Hinata drank some water as she felt dehydrated. Her minds played games with her and she couldn't help but look at her wrist every chance she got. Two small holes punctured her delicate skin.
She threw the plastic bottle into the recycle bin and entered the restroom on the 2nd floor. She threw her hair over her shoulder and stared at her neck; there was another one. She tried to remember what happened a week ago but could not sum up anything. The only thing that stuck out was red—like red lights and fast music.
"Hinata," Sakura called out as she entered the restroom, "are you sure you're doing okay?"
Hinata nodded her head slowly. "I'm fine," There was hesitation, but she decided to show Sakura what she had been fixated on. She held out her wrist towards Sakura, "what do you think these are?"
Sakura cocked her head to the side, her pink hair falling on the side. She grabbed Hinata's hands gently and examined the two punctured marks that was a little red. "Is this recent?" Sakura asked, her eyes never leaving the marks.
"To be honest, I don't know. I just seen it a few minutes ago," Hinata responded. "I also have them on my neck," Sakura pushed Hinata's hair to the side and examined her neck. "Do you think they're mosquito bites? I'm just a little concern because they're symmetrical and precise."
"I'm not sure." She ran her slender fingers on the marks, which made Hinata flinch. "These look fresh."
"Sakura, we need you in the maternity ward." A static like voice came on the walkie-talkie.
"I'll catch up with you later, so we can have Doctor Tsunade look at it. It may be the reason why you feel so weak as of late."
Sighing, Hinata nodded her head as she watched Sakura leave. She headed to the children's ward. There was slight coughing when she entered the room of ten children ranging from five to fifteen years old.
She walked over each bed to make sure everything was okay, especially the youngest child who was coughing.
"Hinata," the young girl coughed, "you're here today?" The youngling smiled widely. "I've missed you so much!"
Her big saucer eyes stirred Hinata's heart and she smiled brightly. "Yes, yes I am. I heard you're doing –
An older nurse panted as she kneeled over with her hands on her knees. A team of doctors and nurses, who were talking in the lobby, stared at the senior nurse oddly. Sakura who had come just in time to see the frantic nurse questioned her. "Nirvana, what's the matter?" She asked placing some files on the counter.
"I got reprimanded for being late last time." Nirvana breathed out as she went behind the counter. "I can't be late again,"
"Nirvana!" Toph cried. "I thought you saw something!"
"I'm sorry." She frowned.
The elevators lit up, and Sakura saw another senior nurse, Shizune, bent over. The woman was trembling uncontrollably, and others quickly helped her off the elevator. Her hands were sweaty and clammy and before they could ask her anything, she let out a terrible shriek.
"Code Silver!"
Sakura quickly scrambled to her feet and ran over to the counter space. She pushed the bottom to alert code silver, and she ran back to Shizune.
"The staff downstairs," She gulped. "I was coming in and he just opened fired."
Toph covered her mouth and only then did they notice the specks of blood on Shizune pink scrub and face.
Sakura inserted the key in the elevator to stop anyone from coming up.
"I don't know how I escape, but- Shizune fell over and vomited her lunch on the floor.
Code silver rang throughout the building and a siren sounded. "We have to act now," Sakura said.
They could hear the gunshots downstairs, and they entered the administration office. "Did he come through the front entrance?" Sakura asked.
Shizune nodded. "I saw him when I was in my car, and he looked a little strange. You have to believe me I was going to report him to the security but he-
"I know Shizune. I know," Sakura placed her hand on his shoulder. They could see the red and blue lights from the upstairs window, and Sakura quickly urged them downstair through the emergency exit.
"Sakura," Toph said unsurely.
"We have to leave. Remember our training!" Sakura urged them. "Let's go."
A swarm of police officers came in the building with guns pointed. Among the police officers, was Uchiha Itachi, a well-known police officer.
Sakura slammed the door opened and they quickly flooded the area and into the parking lot where they were met by other police officers.
"Shizune, do you remember which way the gunman headed?" Sakura asked nervously. Now that she remembered, Hinata had left to go to the children's ward on the first floor.
Shizune shook her head. "I don't know, Sakura. I'm sorry,"
"It's okay, Shizune. You did the right thing," Sakura reassured her.
Red and blue lights flashed outside the hospital, and the staff along with some patients were escorted out the building. News vans came to the scene and the story made TV.
"Sakura! Sakura!" Kiba shouted as he made his way through the crowd that had gathered the scene. The breaking news had hit multiple news channels at 10pm. Concerned parents and friends who had people working or staying in the hospital left the comfort of their homes to rush to the scene.
"Where's Hinata? Is she okay?" A frantic Kiba said as he wrapped his hands around her arms.
"I don't know." She said in a faint whisper. "It's been thirty minutes and all we heard were gunshots."
Kiba eyes widened. "Which ward did the gunman go to?"
"We don't know,"
Kiba placed his hands over his eyes and started praying. Praying for some hope, some miracle that his soon to be wife would come out unscathed.
Doctors and nurses were instructed to come inside to assist with some fatalities. Some police officers were injured in the shootout because there was a second shooter.
"I'm sure she's okay. We called out the code silver, and Hinata is trained to handle the situation." Sakura said smiling. "I have to go now." She turned around and sprinted back to the hospital; she couldn't bring herself to tell Kiba that they had called code silver only after Shizune reported it. She squeezed her eyes. "Please be okay, Hinata."
The scene was grizzly when Sakura stepped foot in the hallway. Some bodies were laid out on the floor, and one was a nurse she knew all too well; Touka. Her eyes were wide opened, and her green scrubs were stained with blood. Her phone was next to her and a cup of spilled coffee. Sakura took a deep breath. She felt the girl's pulse but there was none. Shizune who hovered over Sakura checked something on a clipboard and a white blanket was placed over the victim.
"Get off me!"
Both Shizune and Sakura watched the blonde hair man be escorted out. All Sakura could feel was hate for the man. She saw what he did to the staff and people he killed.
"Get him out of here!" Itachi shouted.
The rest of the night was pure agony for the staff. It was just so much that they had to call in some of the day staff to assist. Two security officers were in critical condition, and would later succumb to their injuries, several staff members died, including some visitors. Out of the forty patients on the first floor, twenty-five were injured and lived, and fifteen patients died.
Sakura entered the last room and she took a deep breath. Her eyes widened, and she slowly backed out of the room and let out a teary whimper. Spread out on the floor was Hinata who was shot in her head. The young girl didn't look dead, but as if she was sleeping. She pushed through and placed her fingers on the girl's neck.
"Hinata!" She screamed. She shook the girl violently. "Hinata, please wake up!" She couldn't notice anyone in the room or that there was only a sole survivor. She didn't feel when someone was grabbing her. Her ears rang, and her vision blurred.
"What's going on?" She said to herself.
Shizune blamed herself for what happened. No one knew there was a second shooter until they discovered another body, dead, in the other room. The video surveillance revealed the second shooter had snuck in the back when Touka entered the building. She hadn't known until she walked through the double doors and shot with a silencer.
And as for Hinata, the footage revealed she had seen Touka walking past the door along with another assailant following behind her. When she had stepped out the room to confront the person, she saw Touka falling to the ground. She quickly returned to the room, but it was too late, the young man had glimpsed her hair following behind her in the room. He entered it before she could shut the door and locked it. It was a gruesome sight because Hinata pleaded with the gunman to spare the kids life as it shown her trying to huddle the children in a small corner, shielding them.
The blonde gunman came into the room with the second one and they seemed to be talking. They threw Hinata to the side and the blond man shot them without a second thought. They grabbed Hinata by her hair and one of them shot her in the head before the police came.
The footage made it on social media and many people blamed Touka for not being responsible and checking her surroundings. Her family was ridiculed, and her husband committed suicide leaving behind their five-year-old son. Some blame the hospital for not having any security walking the premises, but that was put to rest when the surveillance footage showed a security officer checking the children's ward because Hinata had spoken to him before she entered her section. It also showed two more officers in a span of thirty minutes apart checking the area before leaving. But only if the last officer had stayed for three minutes longer, the children and nurses would have probably had a chance to live.
The people that knew her couldn't believe she was dead. She was alive a week ago and engaged. They felt for the family because it was such a senseless killing. The blonde man they captured refused to speak about why they decided to shoot up the hospital. Nobody could understand it. The pictures that were leaked were too gruesome, and the videos made people's stomach churned. Why would they kill innocent sickly children?
The family bowed their heads each time a visitor came to stop in front of them. Hanabi was shocked. She couldn't believe it. Her sister, her only sister was gone. The tears swelled in her eyes and she couldn't hold it any longer, the memories flooded her mind, the way her sister treated her, the way she cared for her, but she was selfish in everything. Her sister treated her like a princess, but she always pushed the young girl away. And the one time she showed any signs of emotion was when she dropped a sickly Hinata to her death. She cried and cried, she cried more than she ever did when she found out her mother had passed.
Hiashi balled his fist, but he refused to cry. Sakura wrapped her arms around Hanabi and hugged the girl tightly as she mourned the loss of her sister.
Kiba cried. He refused to believe it when Sakura broke the news to him, but he saw the videos, the pictures, the way they treated her, and her body on the metal table.
Ayame shed a few tears, although she was not a crier. She was right after all. The dream her father dreamt was telling him Hinata would die.
Three days passed and Hanabi was trying to get used to her sister not being here. She would enter her room and sit on the bed and stare out the window, praying it was a dream and Hinata would wake up. But she knew she wouldn't, they had her body cremated.
Sakura sighed as she sipped on her orange juice. She was still in shock with Hinata's untimely death and she fought the tears back that were trying to escape.
It felt so lonesome not having her best friend with her, and she wept silently. She wiped some of the tears that stained her eyelashes and pulled the Mac laptop to her lap. She had decided to research Hinata's strange marks as she knew there couldn't be an animal who could make something as such.
I found two holes on the side of my neck. What animal could it be?
The puddle of water rippled when little droplets fell from the pipes above. Rats ran mindlessly throughout the sewer and one rodent even climbed on the body of a young woman dressed in white.
Curious, he stared down at her with his big black beady eyes then licked her nose. He sniffed her once more and as he was about to indulge into his new found food, the young woman stirred around before she got up slowly.
He went on the sidelines with his other friends, and they watched as she got up and held her head.
"What's going on?" Her voice was hoarse, and it even cracked.
A sharp pain shot throughout her brain and she hissed. "Where am I?" A wave of panic washed over her, and she looked back and forth.
"Hello?"
Her voice rang throughout the tunnel and it startled her. She got up shakenly and she wiped her wet hands against the white robe she wore. "W-when did I put this on?"
A bad feeling overcame her, and she panicked. She was disoriented and didn't know what was going on or where she was. Her feet walked her through the wet tunnel, and she fell over.
"Kiba?" Kiba!" She cried, but no answer. "This isn't funny!" She screamed loudly. "Hanabi! Papa!" The darkness cowered over and she got up and ran down the tunnel until she saw light seeping through above. She ran towards it, but she quickly pulled away when she felt as if her skin was melting off. She had never felt such excruciating pain.
She cowered in the darkness and pushed her knees against her chest. "It hurts." She repeated.
The rats watched the young girl in confusion, and they ran past her teasingly which made her cowered even more. "What's going on?" She tried to remember what happened, and how she got like this, but she couldn't remember. "Think Hinata. Think. What did you do?"
She gripped some of her hair as she tried to remember.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Hinata head turned sharply at the unknown assailant. A dark figured stepped in the light and her heart leaped with joy. A known face—Karin.
"Karin!" She shouted as she jumped on the girl hugging her. "I'm scared. What's going on? Where am I?"
Karin pushed the girl down to the water and brushed her clothes off. Hinata was shocked because she hadn't expected that from the gentle woman.
"Karin?"
The woman, Karin, placed her hand on her hip. "I'll only answer one question at a time."
"Where am I?" Hinata blurted out.
"An underground tunnel." Karin replied quickly.
"Who put me here?" She chewed the bottom of her lips.
"I did."
Hinata eyes widened. "Why would you do such a thing!" She got up angrily.
Karin eyes gleamed with amusement. "Why are you so upset? I saved you from being burnt after all."
Hinata cocked her head to the side. "Burnt?" After Karin hadn't responded, she balled her fist. "What do you mean by burnt?"
"Your family were going to have you cremated."
"Cremated? Why would they cremate me? That's only for—
"the dead?" Karin said raising her eyebrow.
"The dead." Hinata repeated as if she was a newborn learning to speak.
"Exactly." Karin grinned, then it faded and was replaced by a sad look. "I was so sad when they released the names of those who died." She said holding her heart. She jumped in the puddle childishly. "But then I realized that I had to save you before they cremated you." She pushed her glasses up. "I must admit it was no easy task and it almost took most of my powers, but you've been very beneficial to me, so I knew I at least owed you."
Hinata was scared. "What are you talking about? Why are you talking about death? Who died?" Her head spun as she tried to make sense of what Karin was saying: Names release of those that died, saving her, cremated?
"Yup!" Karin said shaping her finger in the form of a gun. She placed it on the left side of her head and made a pop sound with her mouth.
Hinata held her head as the images came to her. The kids. "The kids! Where are they? Are they okay?"
"You shouldn't worry about them anymore. They were sick and bound to die anyway." She said fanning Hinata.
Hinata narrowed her eyes. "That's distasteful."
In a blink of an eye, Karin had suddenly appeared in front of Hinata and pointed her fingers in her face. "If I were you," she said in a low tone, "I would worry about myself." Hinata gulped. The look in Karin eyes screamed bloody murder. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you." She said caressing the girl's cheek. "Even in death your face is soft."
Hinata slapped her hands away. "I'm not dead!"
"Yes, you are!" Karin cried. "Well, technically more like the undead." She showed Hinata videos on her phone and Hinata eyes watered.
"Why would you play such a cruel trick?"
"But I'm not. You died on July 23rd. Shot in the head by a gunman who showed no mercy."
There was a deafening silence and Hinata tried to soak everything in. "You liar!" She cried as she ran down the dark tunnel.
Karin watched as the girl ran down the large tunnel and she smiled.
"Shouldn't you go after her?" An unknown voice spoke from the shadows.
"No, she'll come back." Karin said licking her lips.
The sound of rodents running up and down the tunnel seeped into her ears. There were so many of them, but she couldn't see them. The tears rolled down her cheeks as she ran. She heard cars honking from above and the faint smell of cigarettes. She couldn't understand it; she felt like she was losing touch with reality.
Karin had played a cruel trick on her was all she could think of. She did something and probably spike her drink and the videos she showed had to be fake. The hair on the back of her neck stood up. Why were Karin's fingertips cold?
She reached the end of the tunnel and saw a rusty ladder. When she gets home, she made it up in her mind that she would report Karin to the police for abducting her. Her family was probably worried sick about her and Kiba. Kiba! She looked at her slender fingers and saw the engagement ring wrapped around her finger. She felt it and smiled.
"Wait for me."
Her hands wrapped around the handles and she climbed as fast as she could. She pushed the metal blockage to the side and peeped her head out. The cold wind brushed against her face and the sky was dark. She was taken back because she hadn't realized how long she and Karin were talking.
She managed to pull herself up, surprisingly because she was never the athletic type, and she was surrounded by walls. Hinata walked aimlessly around until she found an exit. Karin was probably following her, and she had to leave quickly.
The door made a creaking sound and she found herself by the Konoha park. What luck! The park was only two minutes away from her house.
The leaves crumbled under her feet and the excitement filled her body. She would be home with her family, and Kiba. Her smile widened, and she ran to her house. Hinata stopped at the black gates and punched in the pin and it opened.
She needed a hot bath and some clean clothes. The nerve of Karin to go to such an extent to make her believe she was dead. Disappointment filled her because she thought the girl was sweet and always cheerful. What a deceiver!
She knocked on the wooden door and waited for someone to come by. The door opened and Hinata smiled. "Oh, Hanabi! I've missed you so much! You would never believe who- She tilted her head to the side and stared at the girl who seemed to stare back in horror. "Hanabi? Are you okay? Have you been crying?" She questioned the girl. She examined her face and saw the girl eyes were stained with redness. "Hana-
Hanabi let out a terrifying screech which startled Hinata. She tried to enter the building, but it felt like an invisible force was blocking her from entering.
"You're supposed to be dead!" Hanabi cried as she cowered further into the house.
"But I'm not dead! I'm not! Stop playing games!" Hinata cried. She tried to force her body in, but it would not let her.
"You don't belong here! You're dead. Go away!" Hanabi screamed at Hinata.
Hinata glanced at the talisman hanging by the door and it glowed purple. Her grandmother had always told her and Hanabi that this talisman will stop any evil or dead from stepping foot into the house. "No." Hinata whispered. "I'm not—dead." Hinata said. "Hanabi- The girl was no longer in sight.
Hinata ran away as fast as she could around the house. "Hanabi!" She cried for her sister. She looked through the glass window and then backed away slowly. Next to the picture of her deceased mother, was her picture and an urn jar that read Hyuga Hinata.
"But, I'm not- dead."
She wondered through the night until she entered the park and sat on the bench. This had to be a dream or a joke. There was no way she was dead. The images Karins showed her on her phone made her want to vomit. It was her body and she concluded she had died at the hospital. She felt the side of her head and her heart stopped, a hole. How didn't she notice? Her finger traced the other side of her head and there was another hole.
She cried. "Why am I playing limbo?" Hinata hadn't mean to be vain, but she should have ascended to heaven to join her mother in paradise. She was a good person after all. She never once cursed, treated people badly, had sex before marriage, or been jealous. She was only a humble person who wanted to make other people happy.
"Unless I have unfinished business or I'm a guardian angel for someone who needs my help!" She concluded. "That has to be it. I'm here to help someone else."
There was a light snicker and Hinata turned her head to the side. There was Karin.
"I really don't blame you for being in denial." Karin held her gut.
"Are you supposed to guide me to the other world or are you an angel too, Karin?" Hinata said getting up and she walked smoothly to the girl.
"Eh, I won't say you're an angel Hinata more like the opposite."
"A demon?" she gasped out.
"We have many names they call us, but I guess you could say that." She straightened her posture. "Hinata, do you remember anything about those days you got sick?"
"Sick? I- I- I loud music, like techno and," she tried to remember, "red lights." She quickly showed Karin her wrist. "And this. I remember now. I was supposed to see Dr. Tsunade with Sakura after I showed her these." Hinata said.
Karin stared at the holes on her wrist and then her neck. These were fresh and that means someone other than the people she had feeding on Hinata was taking her blood.
"What are these?" She asked innocently.
"Hinata, you're a vampire."
"I did see her!" Hanabi screamed. "She was at the door excited to see me, but she's supposed to be dead!" She shouted. "I wanted to let her in, I really did, but grandma told us never to invite the dead into your house." She explained to Sakura.
"Hanabi," Sakura said staring at the poor girl. She sighed. It was only natural for Hanabi to feel this way. She had lost her sister after all. "Hinata was cremated so there's-
"But I did! The talisman glowed purple meaning she was evil." Hanabi said. "If it hadn't turned purple, I probably wouldn't have hesitated, but it did.
Hinata couldn't help but laugh. "A vampire? Karin, really?" She pushed the girl gently. "Who am I supposed to take care of, really?" "Or am I supposed to say my final goodbyes since my time was cut shortly." She said sadly.
"Are you sure it was Hinata?" Sakura inquired.
"It looked like her, but she seemed different… Her face looked pale and her lips were chapped and the white kimono she wore was dirty! It had to be her because she had the Hyuga symbol embroider on it."
But Karin didn't seem to be laughing. Her face was still, and her eyes fixed on Hinata. "Do you believe in the supernatural?"
"I do, but vampires are a long stretch. Demons are real. Angels are real, but vampires… werewolves… witches are made believe." Hinata told her.
"Can you explain the two holes on your body?" Karin said stepping closer in front of Hinata.
"A mosquito." Hinata said moving away. "It's the only reason I got sick because they had carried a borne illness apparently."
Karin grinned showing her fangs. Hinata eyes stared at the sharp teeth. "What about these?"
It took a while for Hinata to respond, but she uttered, "Body modification."
Karin sharpened her eyes at the disbelief. She grabbed Hinata by her neck and whispered, "then let me show you." Before sinking her teeth in the girl's neck.
Hinata felt a sharp pinched and she tried to break free from Karin's grasp, but couldn't. Her knees buckled, and she fell to the floor.
Karin wiped the blood from her mouth and stared at the unconscious girl on the grass.
"I think you went too far. She only has so much blood in her."
Karin scoffed. "Just get her to the shop, Jugo."
Her eyes fluttered opened as she tried to adjust to the darkness. She could barely see but she made out three figures leaning against the walls.
A match lit and it revealed Karin, Jugo and Suigetsu. They all worked at the shop and she knew each one of them by heart.
"What do you want from me?" Hinata asked as she stared at Karin.
"Nothing." Karin said walking with a glass of what looked to be wine, next to Hinata. "Like I said you helped me, so I owe you."
"This is going to be a hassle, Karin." Suigetsu spoke up. "She's known around here; do you really think this isn't going to cause an issue? People are going to start speculating our existence." He gritted his teeth. "It was foolish for you to have her run off like that. Suppose someone had seen and recognize her?" His eyes darted towards Hinata. "Who saw you?"
Hinata avoided his eyes and shook her head. "N—no one."
"Then where did you run off to?" he bombarded her with questions.
"You would run anywhere to get away from this, right!" Hinata shouted and the tears made their way out. "Why am I here? I just want to go home."
"You can't." Karin said passing her the glass cup. "Here, drink this."
"What is it?" Hinata examined the glass. "I- is this blood?" She threw the glass to the floor and the blood seeped on the concrete ground. "Do you know what can happen if a human drinks blood?"
"You're not human anymore, Hinata." Karin told her.
"Yes, I am! I'm alive. I'm here! I can see, I can, I can breathe, and I have a- Her hands dropped to her side after she felt her neck. There was no pulse. She finally realized Karin may have been right. "I've been damned. Forsaken by God." She mumbled.
"Let her be, Karin." Jugo said stepping forth.
"Let her be?" Suigetsu repeated. "I say we kill her when the sun comes out! This girl can cause us our life."
"The people of Konoha already know of our existence." Jugo said.
"What are you talking about?" Karin asked.
"The Konoha police has their own squad to deal with vampires. They're call the V-sector and they're led by the Uchiha's younger son Sasuke."
"This is the first I've heard about this." Suigetsu said folding his arms.
"We're not the only vampires in Konoha. There are many and, most of them don't know how to clean up after their messes so Orochimaru had me do some investigating and I found out about that tact squad." Jugo informed. "But I partly agree with Suigetsu, Karin. It was a foolish mistake you did and I'm sure Orochimaru is not going to be pleased."
Karin defended herself. "But how could I just let her die. She did a lot for me and her blood is so sweet, I just couldn't bring myself to let them burn her to life and besides if they did succeed in doing so, she would have woken up when they put her in the fire."
"That's only if she was given the blood of a vampire." Suigetsu barked. He squinted his eyes at her. "Did you give her any of your blood?"
"I had to, or she would've died."
"What did you do to me?" Hinata asked.
Karin sighed. "To make a long story short, I sold you to some vampires because your blood is so sweet, and I guess they got carried away this time because you almost died of blood loss."
"You sold me to… vampires? Is that the reason I've been sick on and off?" Now that Hinata thought about it, when she had met Karin almost a year ago, that's when she would feel sick every so often. She felt her blood boil. "I trusted you! My family trusted you!" She got angry.
"I don't blame her for being upset." Jugo said. "But Hinata," he said in a kind voice, "it will be best that you drink some blood unless you want to die."
"I'm not a monster." She shouted angrily. "I'm not like you guys! I would never drink the blood of a human."
Suigetsu grabbed her by her face and squeezed his grip. "I would be careful if I were you." His voice went low. "Without blood, it is a slow and painful death for a vampire." Hinata felt her stomach burn and she stared into his red eyes. Suigetsu scoffed. "It's already happening. Thanks to Karin feeding on her, made the process quicker." He walked away. "Karin, you better clean up this mess because it's not going to be pretty."
He left the room. "He's right Karin. Either Hinata straightens up or," Jugo paused, "well you know what to do." And he also departed.
Karin was hot in the face. "Hinata! You need to drink something before you die!"
"I don't care! I would rather death than to live this life."
"You don't mean that. You'll eventually succumb to your nature." Karin told her.
"My nature was human before you turned me, now I am damned!" She hissed. "Damned to hell! After all the good deeds I did, I am cursed! I am forsaken by God!" She screamed. "Because of you!"
"What about those two gunmen! They killed you!" Karin shouted. "If they hadn't killed you, you would still be alive."
Hinata softened up. Karin kneeled and picked the broken pieces of glass off the floor. "I'm telling you, being hungry is unimaginable pain." She said sadly. "I was just like you. Why would I drink human blood or any blood in general? I'm human and I refused to take blood, but the pain was unbearable, and I couldn't take it anymore and I did it. I took my first bite and I regretted it."
"Why?" Hinata said curious.
"Because I killed her. I didn't mean to, but I was so hungry that I didn't stop when my master said to, and I end up sucking her dry. I could've stopped had I not idle around and just drink the blood when it was given to me. So, I vowed to never starve myself again." She almost laughed to herself. "It's like a spell, and you just do it."
Hinata stared at the red hair girl in a disgusted manner. "You took someone's life! I would rather death. Now leave me alone." After seeing Karin had not budge, she screamed, "Now!" And it was like a vibration shook the room and Karin stared wide eye.
"I'll bring you a change of clothes and a bowl of water to wash yourself."
Hinata turned her back on Karin and sat on the hard-concrete bench. The fire they lit earlier was slowing fading away, and soon it completely went out leaving Hinata in the cold dungeon like room.
"I'm not like them. I'll never be like them." She told herself.
A few days had past and Karin bought Hinata a pair of jeans and white T-shirt. There was a basin on a stone table filled with water and a small washcloth for her to wipe herself. Hinata refused to touch them. She didn't know how long she stayed there, but it felt like it was forever.
She had time to think about her life before she became this thing. Her father and Hanabi. She cried once more because the way Hanabi looked at her made her hate herself and her very existence. She thought about the children who lost their lives and she blamed herself. Only had she been quicker or maybe if she hadn't looked outside to see the intruder and just bolted the door shut. If only she had stayed home when Hanabi suggested. She felt the print of the ring on her finger and thought about Kiba and his smile. Did he miss her? Would he cast her out like Hanabi had?
And Sakura. What happened to her? Did she die or live? The news Karin showed her stated there were three nurses that died. "I know Touka died, but I wondered who the other nurse was." She pondered out loud.
She rested her head on the stone bench. The noises she heard before was not as loud and her smell was no longer working. She held her stomach and she felt a sharp pain and the burning sensation again. She clenched her teeth. It began to die down and just wish death would hurry and take her.
Hinata got up abruptly as she smelt something sweet entered her nostrils. She licked her lips as she moved closer to the wall. "What's that smell?"
She took a whiff at the door and it suddenly opened. She hissed when the person shined the light directly on her skin and it felt sizzled. She crawled back to the opposite side of the room. It was just a little light, so why did it affect her so much?
"You're as stubborn as ever." Karin sighed as she placed the light on the stone table.
Hinata licked her chapped lips and watched as Karin approached her. She couldn't help but jump on the girl, causing her to fall on the ground. She felt like an animal, but she couldn't stop as she continued to smell Karin like a dog who smelt bacon in his owner's pocket.
There was fresh blood on Karin's neck. Two small holes, fresh wounds. "W-who bit you?" Hinata stared at the holes as if she was in a trance. Karin's face flushed.
"It's taboo for a vampire to feed off another vampire and is frowned upon." She said. "But most vampires do not realize this is one of the many ways they can be a day walker."
Hinata stopped listening to Karin as she stared at her neck. Without realizing she was inching her face to Karin but was suddenly pushed off.
She knew it was too dangerous to have Hinata suck her blood, the girl was new and hadn't eaten in almost three weeks. Karin would be asking for death had she allow Hinata to do it.
"Orochimaru found out about you." She said.
Hinata remembered the snake man who sent chills down her spine. She wasn't one to judge people and would treat them kindly, but the way he looked at her screamed bloody murder.
"And it isn't something to be thrilled about." She sighed. She grabbed the washcloth and placed it in the water. "Are you a virgin?"
Hinata blushed, and Karin glanced over her shoulder. She tilted her head. "You've been with Kiba and you've never had sex?"
"No, I wanted to wait when I got married."
Karin walked over to Hinata and washed her face much to the girl's dislike. "Well, Orochimaru is a promiscuous snake. And I'm pretty sure he's going to have his fun time with you before he kills you. He's been watching you every time you entered the store."
"And I suppose this was his plan to have me drink your blood when you kidnapped me!"
Karin remained silent. "Hinata, you're not going to last long with him and his "appetite". Either you conform to being a vampire or be someone's sex slave." Hinata trembled as she thought about the man. She felt as if Karin was trying to scare her, but she knew something was off about him.
"Has he ev-," She wondered if Karin heard her swallow her heartbeat.
"Everyone who works for him has had sex with him, man or woman whether they like it or not." Karin said picking up a comb.
"That's not having sex. It's rape!" Hinata said slapping Karin's hands away. "And it's clear that I don't have an option. If I decide to follow suit as a vampire, I'm still going to be force to have sex with him."
"When you're dealing with someone who's more powerful than you, you'll quickly adjust." Hinata shuddered at the thought of the man touching her body. She had to leave as quickly as possible. "That's why I told you to conform and he probably wouldn't have found out about you until you had left."
"Do you have any fresh water? I want to take a shower myself." She mumbled.
Karin nodded her head. "But don't make it worse by running away. Just embrace it." She warned her. She held Hinata's hand and led her down the dark corridor. "I'm going to leave the lights off unless you want to shrivel up."
Hinata made her way through the darkness and was surprise she could she the outlines of the tub. Water was already piled in the tub and she felt it.
She had to leave as quickly as possible. She had an idea where she was, the Konoha Jewelry store because she heard the melody of a bell chiming. That noise came from one place which was where her family went for centuries.
She looked at the outlines and quickly found her way to the door. She peeped her head down the corridor and didn't sense anyone was there. She left the bathroom and walked quietly down the jiggered floor. She felt constant pins on her naked feet. She froze. If she did leave, where would she go? Who could she go to? Everyone assumed she was- well dead. 'I'll find a place.' She thought.
There was silence when she made her way up the stairs, she peeped through the crack in the door, and took note that it was nighttime. She thanked God because she didn't think her skin could handle it. The door opened slowly, and a dark room entered her vision. It was now or never because there was no telling who else was down in that tunnel and what they would do to her if she tried to escape.
The doorbell always made a sound when entering in and out of the store. Just as she was about to bolt, she heard footsteps running and people talking.
"Why the fuck didn't you stay at the damn door!" Suigetsu shouted.
"I didn't expect her to escape." Karin cried.
"Who wouldn't bolt after telling her about Orochimaru and his sex drive?"
"She shouldn't be too far, especially since she didn't have any blood—yet."
Hinata bolted out the door when she heard them coming. She looked around and saw some people staring at her crazily. She avoided their eyes and ran into the crowd.
The thoughts filled her mind and the different scents made her lick her lips more. There were so many people out there and so many tastes. "What's happening to me?" She said aloud. Her eyes gazed around the area and she headed to a secluded area. The smell still lingered in the air, and only this time it was stronger than before. It was involuntary, and her feet guided her to the smell that aroused her. She hid in the bush and she saw a blonde hair stranger, wrapped around another person. She jumped from her skin when the blonde hair man threw the woman on the dirty ground without a care in the world.
Her silky blouse was torn slightly and Hinata could see the blood from her neck run down to her perky nipple that was out for the world to see.
That smell! It was coming from her. It was such a desirable sweet smell, and she couldn't fight the temptation. In a crouch position, she left the safety of the bush and crawled to the unconscious body.
The blonde man looked over his shoulder when he sensed someone approaching him. He watched her with a hint of amusement because either she hadn't seen him or cared for his presence.
She climbed on top of the half-naked woman and smelled her wound where the blood seeped out.
Her mind kept telling her to stop, that shouldn't do it, that she had to fight this, but the damn scent was so intoxicating.
Hinata paused as she stared at the two bite marks, and he could see she was contemplating with her inner demons. She hissed suddenly when he stooped down in front of her. She was aware of his presence and she tried to back away from until he grabbed her by her wrist and pulled her back onto the woman.
"Eat," He told her.
She stared at him oddly, and she had to admit he was such a handsome man. It looked as if he had just woken up with bed hair, but the look made him very appealing and gorgeous. His skin glowed without the sun, and even his eyes which were crimson red burn the very depth of her soul.
"Eat," He said once more.
Hinata shook her head. "N- no. I won't."
His smile took her by surprise. "How cute," He purred, "a baby vampire,"
The thought of her hearing that made her sad on the inside, but she attempted to smile at the stranger who understood her motto.
Her eyes nearly bulged out of her head when he gripped her by the back of her neck and buried her head into the woman's neck. The aroma was too powerful, and she tried to resist, but she let it happen. Her new formed teeth sank into the already punctured wound and sucked on the woman's neck like a new born.
The grip on her neck loosened and she felt the devil's advocate watching her, but she didn't care. The blood was so sweet, she couldn't stop. It did something to her and she needed to have more.
The young man pried her off the woman and she whimpered. "I'm sure you don't want to kill her." He whispered in her ear.
Hinata gasped loudly and she stared at the woman in disbelief. She had done an unforgiveable act. She was angry. Angry at herself and angry at this person for doing that to her.
Hinata slapped his hands away. "Why! Why did you do that?" She cried.
"You were hungry."
"I don't care. I would rather starve to death." She replied. Her body shuddered. How could she do such a thing? Her eyes lingered on the body and she wondered if the woman was alive. She went on her knees and felt for a pulse, it was faint, but she had one.
"We need to get her help." Hinata said frantically. "A hospital or something. There's one down the road."
"She'll be fine."
"She may have lost a lot of blood. Let's fin- Hinata fell on her bottom as the woman got up abruptly. "Uh-
The woman looked dazed. She brushed her skirt and adjusted her blouse and she walked off in the distance without so much as looking back.
"What just happened?" Her eyes travelled towards the blonde man.
"That's unimportant. You should worry about yourself." The young man said standing up.
"Why?"
"Because there's a target on your back."
Hinata got up as quickly as possible and she looked around. She hadn't realized it, but she felt it. Like a powerful surge that was after her—swiftly.
The look of sheer terror made its way on her face and she ran up to the man. "Please, I need your help. I don't want to be this. I don't want to do this, but I can't have them capture me. Please. Help me." She said clasping her hands together and she stared in the man's crimson eyes.
Before he could say anything, three figures jumped in front of them: Karin, Jugo and Suigetsu.
"Hinata!" Karin barked. She looked at the figure who Hinata stood next too. "Get away from him, Hinata!"
Hinata shook her head and she cowered behind the man.
"Hinata," Jugo spoke, "you don't know what you're getting yourself into."
Her heart wavered. Jugo was normally nice and was even kind to her when she was in that cellar, but the thought of the snake man doing things to her made her shook her head like a deranged animal. "I'm not going with that man." Hinata called out. She grabbed his gray blazer, and the crimson eyed man looked down at her. "Please help me."
"We should have killed her when we had the chance!" Suigetsu said, "and out of all people she meets him." He spat.
"Hinata, please. You don't know what you're getting yourself into. He's trouble."
But Hinata had already made up her mind. "Please help me." She said in a faint voice.
"My pleasure." He said. He wrapped his arms around her and she felt a gust of wind. "Hold on tightly."
She wrapped her arms around his waist tightly, and she closed her eyes as a surge of wind slapped her on her face. Hinata's heart race as she felt herself slipping. She looked down and notice they were no longer on the ground. She screamed as she tried to tighten the grip around him.
"Shit!" Suigetsu said as he threw his sword to the ground. "Karin, you better fix your shit!"
An anger stirred in Karin. "I heard you the first time!"
Hinata stared at the loft house, and she grabbed his hand which made him stopped from entering his house. "Too many lights," She squeaked out.
He still led her inside the house, ignoring her protest. Hinata braced herself for the pain, and her skin did sizzle but it was bearable unlike last time.
He led her down the corridors in haste that she didn't get a chance to look at the décor of his house. He pushed the door opened and the both of them walked downstairs.
"Where are you taking me?"
She grew weary of seeing tunnels, but she was grateful to be away from the lights.
"Away from the light." He entered another room and finally let go of her arm. Maybe he hadn't realized it, but he was quite strong. She rubbed her arm.
"Thank you for helping me back there."
"Are you a runaway from Orochimaru?" He asked.
"No, but I had to escape! He was going to take my virtue away, and besides, I would rather die than to lie with some devious man!"
"And was that the reason you didn't want to eat?"
Hinata remembered what happened. "Yes, but you—" her body trembled. "Because of you, I feel- I feel—
"Better?"
Hinata nodded her head, although she hated to admit it. She felt livelier, stronger and a little more focus. "I don't want to live like this."
"Death my friend, is worse than hunger."
"First it was hunger now it's death! Make up your minds! Which is what!" Hinata screamed. She hadn't meant to scream, but she was frustrated at this point. She was trying to get used to the fact that she was considered dead and her life was over. "I don't want to do this anymore."
"Do you know what happens to vampires when they die?"
Hinata lowered her head in defeat. "They turn into ashes."
"And do you believe that is all?"
"I mean," she scoffed, "the movies never go any further than that."
She watched him circled around her and an uneasy feeling overcame her. "We're forsaken by God the minute we are born or created." He paused behind her and she felt his warm breath on the tip of her ear. "We all know the story, do good deeds go to heaven and well those—to hell."
"I thou-
He stood in front of her and placed his finger on her chapped lips. "You believe we vanish with the wind?"
The feeling was there again, and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. He chuckled at her innocence. "There's a special place in hell for us, those that are forsaken by God. If you think these lights hurt now, just imagine being engulfed by the flames and thirst that lingers for years and years to come. It is a faith worse than hunger for those that knows."
Hinata couldn't breathe. Could he be telling the truth? "They didn't tell you?"
"No, they just said hunger. Hunger is bad and death. Fire? But I'm a good person!" she shouted. She gripped onto his clothes. "I'm a good person! I did good things! I didn't think about myself! How could I be damned? Please, help me."
"It's too late for that."
Hinata sat on the soft bed and she pondered about what the man said. The door opened, and he walked in the room with a glass of blood. She smelt it when he was preparing it for her upstairs.
"What's your name?" She whispered.
"Naruto." He replied, resting the glass on the brown table. "Drink this. It'll make you feel better."
Hinata stared at the glass and hesitated at first. She caved in and drank the glass of blood.
"And you're named Hinata."
"Yes." She whispered. "Um, why did they tell me to stay away from you?"
He sat on the bed next to her and grabbed her face. "You'll find out soon enough." He said.
A sharp pain pinched the side of her neck, and she yelped. He pushed her on the bed gently and climbed on top of her. The darkness that engulfed them seemed to swirl and she felt high. What seemed to be hours, were only minutes. She could feel her neck being tickled by his warmness, and she tried to push away, but it was no use.
After a while, he climbed off her and she suddenly fell into a deep slumber.
"Good night, my kitten." He purred.
"Hinata! Hinata! Can you hear me?"
The familiar voice ran throughout her mind, and Hinata tossed and turned on the bed. "K-Karin?" She mumbled.
"Thank goodness you're alive," She sighed under hear breath. "Where are you?"
Hinata turned on her back and rubbed her eyes softly. She could have sworn she heard Karin's voice.
"It's me! Hinata you're in danger," Karin urged. "You need to leave before he kills you,"
"W-why are you in my mind?" Hinata held her head. "Please leave!"
"Hinata!" Karin shouted. "I know you may have a hard time believing me, but that man- he's ruthless. He's just going to fatten you up and then feed on you. You need to leave,"
She felt her heart beat fast as she remembered what took place a few hours ago. Her delicate fingers touched the fresh punctured marks on her neck then she winced. There was a burning feeling radiating from the holes and she held her breath.
"Why would I believe you?" Hinata shook her head. "You've lied to me, took away my life and tried to get me to be some sex slave for that disgusting man!"
"And I'm sorry, Hinata, but I also saved you from being cremated."
"I don't care! At least I would have ascended to heaven," She felt the tears swelling in the corner of her eyes. "I'm stuck playing this godforsaken limbo," She cried.
"I'm sorry," Karin whispered. "I'm sorry I did this to you, but I know you don't deserve what he has install for you. You must escape,"
"Such a rude girl," A dark voice entered Hinata's head.
Hinata's eyes widened and she held her head tightly. "Everyone knows what you do to other vampires you half breed," Karin hissed. "Hinata you must flee, right away! If not, you'll surely be dead."
Hinata began to hyperventilate and she held onto her chest.
"Why would you scare my new pet like that?"
There was a daunting presence that washed over her, and she felt intense eyes piercing deep within her soul. A sweet smell filled her nostrils, and she turned her head slowly to the side.
"Hinata!" Karin kept shouting, but the more she did they quiet her voice became until Hinata couldn't hear her anymore.
Piercing red eyes watched her every move, and she trembled by the petrifying gaze.
"You're such a naughty girl," He shook his head. "Why would you allow someone to have access to your mind?" He smirked. "That's such a dangerous thing."
She couldn't respond to the man who sat on the chair on the side of the bed. His legs were opened slightly, and he held a wine glass filled with a red substance in his left hand.
"Y-you're going to kill me," She managed to say.
"Eventually you're going to die,"
Hinata swallowed the lump in her throat and she broke out into a cold sweat as she remembered what the man told her. No, she wouldn't turn to ashes with the wind but to be burnt for eternity.
Who words could she believe? Did she really want to die for good?
Her lips parted slightly, but she quickly closed it as she tried to find the right words to say.
"I thought you wanted to die," Naruto took a sip from the wine glass.
"I want to live, but- but not like this." Some of her tears ran down her cheeks.
"Like what?"
She screamed as she shook her head. "I don't want to be a monster like you or those other creatures!" She shot up from the bed. "I- I had everything! I had a job, a loving family, friends and was soon to be married! Why did this have to happen to me?" She placed her hands on her chest.
"It wasn't our fault, but humans. Humans chose to take away your life. They were the ones that cause you an untimely death. They were the ones who took away what was supposed to be your future, so who are the real monsters?"
Hinata's arms fell to her side and she stared at her feet. "A-at least I would have made it to heaven!" She threw the pillow at the man and darted out the room.
She turned and twisted with every corner, and she even stumbled a few times, but she had to escape.
"Where are you going to go?" She heard.
Hinata fell to her knees and she chewed down on the bottom of her lips. She was so close to the stairs that led up, but his sudden question threw her off course.
Faint footsteps echoed behind her and she felt him hovering over her.
"Are you going to Orochimaru?" Her bangs fell over her eyes and her shoulders lowered. "Or are you going to your father's house? Maybe a friend? Or are you going to travel a world you truly don't know?"
It was like he was mocking her, but she couldn't do anything. The world she knew believed she was dead, deceased, no longer living so where could she go? Her own sister nearly had a heart attack when she confronted her.
"I don't know," She mumbled.
"I know you don't. People like you never know,"
Hinata closed her eyes tightly when he gripped her long hair and pulled her up. "So, can I fatten you up before I kill you?"
She whimpered slightly as he was so strong. She could feel some of her hair snapping from her scalp and she cried.
"P-please don't kill me," She begged. "I have nowhere to go, and I don't want to perish. I want to live, please!"
"Why should I?" He deadpanned.
"I- I have so much to offer," She held her head when he released her.
He almost laughed hearing her say those words. "You have no real experience of the world, but yet you have so much to offer? You, who is so blind to what's going on around? You, who trusts those so foolishly? What can you possibly offer?"
She had a hard time containing her tears and she let them flow loosely. He grabbed her by her forearm and dragged her down the long corridors.
Her mind was a never-ending fog. All she could think about was her life before this and how she will no longer be no more.
She squeezed her eyes shut and whispered, "I'm sorry."
