The Journal of Sebastian Kraus
~A large, brown, leatherbound journal dating back to World War II. Even from a distance, the raw power it contains can be felt emanating from it.
~The journal originally belonged to Sebastian Kraus, a soldier who was assigned to a top-secret Nazi operation codenamed Project Jötunn in Germany's Black Forest. For more information on Project Jötunn, please see Chapter 07.
~Sebastian used his journal to record as many details about Project Jötunn as he possibly could. He also used it as a standard diary, recording personal experiences throughout his time spent on the project.
~Project Jötunn culminated in a multi-dimensional, reality-shattering event that disrupted the very fabric of time and space. When The Event happened, Sebastian and his journal were present for it, and as a result of direct contact with the anomaly that occurred that night, the journal became imbued with unimaginable power, as well as forbidden knowledge, both of which can be used as a powerful weapon against Slender Man and The Collective when in the right hands.
~The Journal's power is based on ownership, and by simply owning it, one has the capability of utilizing its power and knowledge. The book's power is more than capable of protecting its owner from Slender Man and The Collective, even if the person isn't using it to its full potential. Ownership of the journal can only be transferred willingly, and any attempts to take it by force will result in failure.
~In the aftermath of The Event, Sebastian Kraus was hunted through the forest by an enraged Slender Man, who knew what the soldier had in his possession. Before he was dragged away into the night, Sebastian stumbled across a small camp of enemy soldiers and transferred ownership of his journal to a man named Karl Maxwell, telling him to protect it with his life.
~When Karl immigrated to the United States after the war, the monsters desiring Sebastian's Journal followed him and have been haunting him and his family ever since, relentlessly trying to wrestle the artifact from Karl's protective grasp. Currently, they are attempting to manipulate Karl's grandson, Noah Maxwell, into retrieving the journal for them, as they can't take it from Karl by force and know that the old man would never hand it over to them willingly.
~After being assimilated into The Collective and subsequently freed from their clutches in his original timeline, Firebrand was able to get the journal from Karl and began using its power to take the fight to the enemy.
~Sebastian's Journal is what granted Firebrand his godlike powers. It is the reason he can turn back time and manipulate reality itself to serve his purposes. This tome is what lets him wage war against Slender Man and The Collective, allowing him to break through the limitations of time and space.
~As a result of Firebrand tampering with the timeline, two versions of Sebastian's Journal now exist. The first is the one that's in Firebrand's possession, and the second is the one being protected by the current timeline's Karl Maxwell. Slender Man and The Collective are currently focused on obtaining Karl's copy of the journal, knowing that attempting to retrieve Firebrand's is a futile endeavor. With its power, they could use it to level the playing field, but Firebrand knows this and is doing everything in his power to keep it out of their hands, attempting to guide Noah Maxwell, Lauren Jones, and many others along the right path.
~The key to winning the war lies in the power of Sebastian's Journal, which is why it must never fall into the Slender Man's hands.
