Overview
~The SCP Foundation is a top-secret, self-governing organization tasked with protecting the civilian population from anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena. They are dedicated to the research and containment of anomalies, which includes keeping them away from the general public and out of enemy hands. They are the largest and most powerful organization in the paranormal world.
~Operating clandestine and worldwide, The Foundation operates beyond jurisdiction; empowered and entrusted by every major national government. Many of the anomalies in their care pose a significant threat to global security by threatening either physical or psychological harm. All of them undermine the natural laws that the people of the world implicitly trust in.
~The Foundation maintains an extensive database of information regarding anomalies requiring Special Containment Procedures, commonly referred to as SCPs. The primary database contains summaries of such anomalies and emergency procedures for maintaining or re-establishing safe containment in the case of a containment breach or other event.
~The Foundation operates to maintain normalcy, so that the worldwide civilian population can live and go on with their daily lives without fear, mistrust, or doubt in their personal beliefs, and to maintain human independence from extraterrestrial, extradimensional, and other extranormal influences.
~The Foundation has few allies and many enemies, with their most powerful associate being The Global Occult Coalition, a rival organization with whom they have a rocky relationship.
~The Foundation holds The GOC in contempt for their insistence on destroying anomalies rather than containing and/or utilizing them. In spite of this, both organizations have been able to put their differences aside in the name of the greater good on numerous occasions. For more information about The GOC, please visit Chapter 13.
~The Foundation has formed an alliance with the entity known as Firebrand after the latter gained their trust by doing them some sort of favor. It is not yet known what this favor was, only that it carried a great deal of importance.
~As part of their alliance with Firebrand, The Foundation has been suppressing information regarding Slender Man and The Collective to prevent their influence from spreading. The only aspects of these demons that they haven't scrubbed from history are old myths and urban legends, as they see them as too obscure and irrelevant to the general public to pose any sort of threat.
Area 37
~Area 37 is a Foundation research and containment facility located in the Kichatna Mountain Range in Alaska. Little has been revealed about it at the time of writing.
