Jaune entered the main hall of the Mandalorian senate. His aunt, the Duchess of Mandalore Satine Kryze was waiting for him. His skin was still damp from the sweat he accrued during his sparring session.
He had a good feeling about what she was going to speak to him about. And he also knew that she wouldn't like that he had been training. She hated to see him fight and it deeply upset her that he was committing himself to be a full-time warrior.
"Jaune I'm glad you could make it," the Duchesses said from her place on the throne.
Jaune simply nodded at her responding. " I am glad to be here ma'am."
Satine probably wanted to roll her eyes at what he said. After all, she had wanted him to refer to her in a more informal way but they had compromised on his calling her ma'am.
"Jaune I called you here for a reason, there is something that I need to tell you." she continued, a slight smile spreading across her face.
Before she could keep going he interrupted her. " I know, you don't want me to sign up with that mercenary group from concord dawn but we have…."
Now it was Satine's turn to do the interrupting. " I am your mother," she said in a simple and yet obvious way.
Jaune did his best not to betray his shock. He had a good idea that the Duchess always knew more than she would tell him about his parentage. But he hadn't gotten round to thinking that SHE was his mother only that she knew his mother.
The more he thought about it the more sense it made. After all, she had practically raised him like he was her son. So it wasn't too far of a stretch for her to be his mother.
He was still speechless, however. He also saw the grin on her face grow even wider. She enjoyed every chance she got to mess with his head. It was a mother thing she liked knowing that she had some sway with how her son thought.
"And my father?" Jaune asked. He had a good idea of the name since he knew a fair bit about his now mother.
"He is a general in the Clone Wars. You will find him in the Jedi Temple for now. His name is…." her answer was cut off by Jaune.
He was glad to have some control of the discussion. It was the only way he could get his mother to act in an aggressive way. Sure it wasn't an actual fight like the Mandalorians of old but it was the best he could get. " Kenobi," he said, finishing the sentence.
"I will head out at once," Jaune said, he was eager to meet his father and it was a short enough flight that he could make it alone.
" You will need this" Satine chimed from her throne holding out a message stick. " you will bring this to the Jedi council, your father is a member of it"
Without hesitation, he took the stick doing his best to not look like an over-excited schoolboy. He was rather excited however, He was finally going to meet his father and he had just found out that his father was a great warrior. He had heard of the Jedi padawan that had saved his mother years ago.
By the end of the mission, the Mandalorians feared and respected both Kenobi and his master Qui Gon Jinn. They had kept the Duchess safe from all of her would-be assassins as well as her almost usurpers.
It took almost a year and a half but they had managed to reinstall his mother as the rightful ruler of her people. It would seem that Jaune was conceived at some point during that time. He would be lying if he said that he was hoping that he was conceived near the end of that time. He didn't want his father to have left him knowingly.
It wasn't that he was worried about not feeling wanted, he had long left such wants behind him. Instead, he was worried about the implication of being the son of a pacifist and a deadbeat.
Jaune found himself standing at the bay of his ship. It was a high-quality starfighter. It was able to out-maneuver most of the other ships in the galaxy just by how fast it was. Tack on its sharp turning radius and the eight laser cannons and you have one of the best starfighters in the galaxy.
Jaune didn't want to take one of the commercial liners to Coruscant. That would be crowded and slow. He had a perfectly good ship and he was going to use it.
The canopy was a welcome feeling to have closed around him. He used to get sick during in-atmo flights but when he turned thirteen something changed and he was able to suppress the feelings.
Jaune activated the tracking beacon on his hyperspace ring and remembered how much he loved being the second-best shot on Mandalore. There had been a marksmanship contest two years ago and he had taken second place behind a man from clan Fett. The second place prize money had been in part spent to buy his fighter and matching hyperspace ring.
The trip would have taken a normal fighter paired to a hyperspace ring almost a day. But Jaune had brought both to Corellia and met with some shady mechanic named Vandangante or Doc as he was commonly referred to. Doc had modified the ring with some parts of questionable legality as well as equipping the starfighter with the four extra laser cannons that occupied the space that the torpedo tubes and spare torpedo storage units would have taken up.
After Doc had finished with it the time for getting from Mandalore to Coruscant went from thirteen hours to only seven. The downside was that Jaune could only land at docks that recognized his Mandalorian diplomatic immunity since nobody would ever inspect his fighter and not find it to be in violation of several safety codes. He was the rightful heir to the Mandalorian system, knowing that his mother was the current duchess only strengthened that fact. He was more than qualified to have a ship that was both fast and armed. He may need both in his life.
With the Navi-computer having done the math Jaune activated the hyperspace engines and soon found himself lost in the swirl of blue and black. Leaning back Jaune did his best to get comfortable before settling for a long flight.
Hello everyone, this is the first chapter of my current story. I wrote part of it out and I determined the plot of this years ago. I decided that while I was getting both my commission and my personal life into order, I would finish this one. I wish you all a good read, and a good day.
always if you want to get access to my works a week early (or see some of the short stories that don't really warrant me putting them on Fanfiction) you can do that as well as support my work on my page. So Long, Farewell, and God bless.
