Obi-Wan laid back in bed with Satine laying against him. "What are we going to do?" she asked knowing he still wasn't sure of what to do himself.
Obi-Wan thought long and hard "Master Qui-Gon is going to withdraw but I do not know if Jaune is going to accept that" he left off the implication that he could make Jaune accept it but he was also trying to use a gentler hand than many mandalorian father's would.
"He will want to compete under his own name if he must," Satine agreed, tracing the scars on Obi-Wan's chest, mostly the ones she remembered.
"He cannot compete under my name or master Qui-Gon's. He would need to compete under your mother's maiden name" he explained.
Satine nodded in agreement knowing that she was going to need to have her great grandfather's armor dusted off from the small hidden home she had it kept in.
"What is his relation to the Xiao Long girl?" Obi-Wan asked, needing to gauge the emotional state of his son before he began to train him.
"Which one?" Satine asked not certain if he meant Yang or her much more reserved sister Ruby.
"The blonde one" Obi-Wan replied, keeping to himself how much like Satine Yang looked.
"Ah, Yang. they swore a blood oath as children, at this point Tai and I are just waiting for them to make the announcement to everyone else." Satine suddenly realized what Obi-Wan was getting at and took a more serious tone. "You are worried about her aren't you?"
Obi-Wan sighed deeply "I know first hand what he is feeling, and I know just how much can go wrong."
"What happened?" Satine asked, knowing that much of Obi-Wan's life as a Jedi before he met her was still unknown to her.
Obi-Wan steeled himself and answered. "Her name was Siri Tachi, she was a Jedi and we were hopelessly attached children. We only used the word love a few times but it wasn't needed, we both knew"
Satine could feel just what was about to happen and she clung to Obi-Wan a little more nervously. "She was killed during a mission and I nearly fell to the dark side at that moment. I was able to follow the light through that dark time but Jaune may not have that protection" his words would normally have angered Satine with him talking about curbing Jaune's freedom in order to "protect" him but she knew Obi-Wan. And she knew the force better than many. If he said that he was worried then he was probably right to be.
"There's more," Obi-Wan said, somehow suddenly seeming more dour than before. "I am about to tell you something that less than six people know about" turning to look her in the eyes. "Chancellor Palpatine is a dark lord of the Sith, he IS darth Sidious and he IS the one behind the seprateist movement"
Satin did her best not to look too surprised but she was rather taken aback that the sudden revelation. "How can you be sure?" she asked not doubting Obi-Wan's certainty but not understanding the possibility of it all.
"He attempted to recruit master Dooku a few years ago. Master Dooku has remained unclear about certain things on the matter but he knows enough. We are simply waiting for Palpatine to do something he cannot excuse so we can deal with him legally."
"How does this relate to Jaune?" Satine asked, worried she knew where this was going.
"Mandalore is going to need to enter the war Satine"
"No" Satine said staunchly, sitting up unashamed of her nakedness in front of Obi-Wan. "My people will not be dragged into YOUR war"
Obi-Wan sat up with her and rested his hand on her cheek. "And I wish with so much of my might that they didn't have to. But the chancellor must have plans to interfere with the clone army in the event of his defeat, and we need some way to counter that. The mandalorian warrior culture is that way."
Satine clearly hated the idea, her people had suffered enough at the hands of violence. "Your people chose to have a mandalore, they want to be in this war, you have to let them make their choices" Obi-Wan said, seeing the tears in her eyes as she accepted that her people were going back to the war like ways she tried so hard to protect them from.
Almost twenty years of work both to lead her people and to lead them by her example was about to become meaningless. And Satine broke at that acknowledgement. As she shook and wept into Obi-Wan's arms Obi-Wan made a vow to ensure that the tragedy of the Mandalorian people would never be forgotten or concealed.
With that promise made he turned to consoling the distraught woman he now shared a bed with.
short one this week, very busy with work and getting a new sleep schedule together.
