Safari Zone Chase
Fortunately for Ash it turned out that there was a shortcut that would take them directly to Fuchsia City via the cycling road, of course that meant having to rent bicycles as they certainly didn't have any of their own but within a day they were in Fuchsia City, the destination of Ash's next Gym battle!
"Fuchsia City already! Can you believe it, Pikachu?"
"Pika pi!" Pikachu excitedly flicked his tail as the group began making their way towards the Pokemon Center.
"There's a Contest here in a few days too so there's no rush to get out of here," Chloe noted as she examined her Rotom Phone.
"A few days? Well apart from my Gym battle what else does this city have to offer?" Ash questioned.
"You really don't know? Ha! Still the same as ever, eh Ashy boy?" Gary came into view with a rather large smirk. "There's the Safari Zone where you can catch all sorts of Pokemon including some powerful and rare ones not commonly found in other areas of the region. In fact I just so happened to catch myself a Dratini while I was there!"
"Dratini? There's no wa-" Ash went silent as Gary showed off Dratini's dex entry.
"Of course I doubt that there are any Dratini left but if you want to catch up, then I suggest you get in there and catch some Pokemon!" Gary laughed. "As for me, I've got to get to Saffron City! It's one of the few Kanto badges I haven't collected yet, once I've got them all everyone will be forced to accept that I'm the best Kanto Champion there ever was!"
"Don't get too comfortable Gary cause we're winning the Indigo League!" Ash declared in retaliation.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu nodded his head in agreement.
"Yeah well we'll just see about that, right girls?" Gary smirked as his cheerleaders came into view.
"Gary Gary, he's our guy! If he can't do it nobody can, Gary Gary!"
Hearts filled Brock's eyes as he sprung forward. "Hello girls, would any of you be interested in going out with me sometime?"
"No thank you, sir!"
"Sir?!" Brock hung his head right before Croagunk could jab him, the poison frog croaked from laughter and let him be as Brock sighed out. "I'm not that old..."
"Time to roll out girls, I've got a badge to win!" Gary beckoned them with a wave of his arm before turning towards Ash one final time. "Oh and my Krabby's bigger than yours! Smell ya later, Ashy boy!"
"That Gary..." Ash growled out as he watched Gary and his cheer squad walk away.
"Don't worry about him, Ash. His ego will be his undoing," Chloe gently grasped his hand to help calm him down. "I do think Gary's right though, it wouldn't hurt to check out the Safari Zone while we're here. It's better than just standing around doing nothing and who knows, maybe you'll find a Pokemon that you like!"
"Chloe's right, Gary may have taken Dratini but I'm sure there are still plenty of other Pokemon available!" Brock exclaimed.
Ash looked thoughtful for a moment before a smirk eventually formed. "Yeah, let's go and check it out!"
The Rocket trio were nearby and smirked at one another upon finding out the twerp's plans.
"Did you hear that? If I catch a Dratini, I'll crush the competition!" Jessie smirked at the thought.
"Ya heard that cocky twerp, that Dratini was probably the only one there!" Meowth shouted.
"Meowth's right though I do have a plan in mind," James revealed with a light smirk. "When trainers enter the Safari Zone, they're required to leave their Pokeballs at the entrance as to prevent them from attacking the Pokemon that reside within the area. While the twerps are off having fun on their safari, we can break on in and swipe their Pokeballs giving us easy access to Pikachu and Eevee!"
"That's actually pretty clever but how will we get Pikachu and Eevee into their Pokeballs? Won't they just break out like they usually do?" Jessie questioned.
"Not today!" James smirked as he revealed a special containment unit. "I just have to drop the Pokeballs inside and if they get out, they've got no way to break out!"
"Heh, looks like today's the day that we finally win one!" Meowth smirked.
An old man could be seen behind a counter as Ash and the others entered the building that served as the entrance to the Safari Zone. "Welcome to the Safari Zone, I'm the warden around these parts and obligated to inform you lot of the rules. Entry to the park is 500 Pokedollars per individual and your prohibited from using your personal Pokemon and Pokeballs. You're to leave your Pokeballs here with me as to reduce chances of poaching or harm coming to the Pokemon residing in the park, while you'll receive thirty special variants of Pokeball known as Safari Balls. You may use as many as you like but any extras must be returned upon your exit, you may keep any Pokemon you catch however they will be sent directly to whatever Professor or storage destination you have set up for them as to keep you from exceeding the six Pokemon limit. If any Safari Balls break or are lost you may buy replacements here at the front however that will cost you an additional 500 Pokedollars."
Ash and Chloe gave each other a look. Croagunk, Larvitar and Vulpix went directly into their Pokeballs without a problem, Pikachu and Eevee hated their Pokeballs and Togepi well they honestly didn't know her opinion as she always burst out with an ecstatic cry!
"Sir Pikachu and Eevee can't stand their Pokeballs, would it be alright with you if we left their Pokeballs here but kept them with us? We promise you they're well behaved!" Ash attempted to bargain with the man.
"No, I have a strict policy here and I'm certainly not going to break it for some stranger-"
"They're with me,"
"Gah!" Ash, Brock and Chloe all leaped back in shock as a young woman dressed in ninja attire appeared directly in front of them! She appeared to be the same age as Ash and Chloe and was dressed from head to toe in black ninja robes fitted with a bright pink cape! However despite the rather noticeable cape, her ninja skills were top notch as she appeared right in front of them without them even realizing her presence! Her long purple hair was neatly tied up, likely to prevent it from blowing in her face as she ran!
The warden held a hand over his heart. "Janine, I swear you'll be the end of me someday!" He gave the ninja girl a light glare. "Are they really friends of yours? They don't look like locals."
"Of course they are, I met them at the Ninja Academy in Johto! You do remember I studied abroad, don't cha?"
"We never went to-" Ash started before Chloe softly nudged his arm to shut him up.
The warden took another look at the three before turning back to Janine. "Had this come from anyone else I'd think they were full of bologna but who am I to doubt the word of Koga's daughter? Very well, Pikachu, Eevee and whatever that other Pokemon is may stay out of their Pokeballs however I request that the eldest of you watch the baby. Friends of Janine or not, a trainer walking around in there with two Pokemon makes me feel uneasy."
"You're Koga's daughter?!" Ash exclaimed rather loudly resulting in the warden raising his brow in a questioning manner.
"Of course, silly Ketchum!" Janine playfully laughed as she threw an arm around him. "Don't you remember? You met him last summer!"
"I did?" Ash was a bit slow to catch on.
"Pi!" Pikachu waved his hands in a beckoning manner.
"Oh right, of course! It completely slipped my mind!" Ash laughed before handing his Pokeballs over to the warden. "Take good care of them!"
The warden quietly shook his head and didn't bother questioning it further as Brock, Chloe and Janine handed over their Pokeballs as well.
"Eevee you won't mind going with Brock, would you?" Chloe questioned only for Eevee to hastily shake her head back and forth with a stubborn expression.
"Eevoi!" She cried.
"Okay then I guess Togepi will go with him after all," Chloe gazed down at Togepi before handing her over to Brock. "Take good care of her."
"Don't worry about it Chloe, I won't let anything happen to her!"
Upon the warden handing the four of them packages containing the Safari Balls, they immediately headed for the entrance to the park where Ash was quick to question Janine's help.
"Why would you help us? We never met before, I'd definitely remember meeting Koga's daughter."
"Yeah, just what is your motive for helping?" Chloe questioned with a narrowed gaze as she couldn't help but feel threatened by the girl's presence.
"Well I'm not romantically interested in him if that's what you're implying," Janine flashed Chloe a teasing smirk.
"I wasn't-!" Chloe's cheeks burned brightly while Eevee and Brock couldn't help but smirk.
"Besides he's the Chose-er I mean, my father had a great respect for Red and talks highly of him! I figure if Red was all that then his son must be just as impressive!" Janine smoothly recovered. "Besides I saw you talking to Gary Oak and it sounds like you'd never hear the end of it if you didn't gain entry to the park!"
"Wait you were there? But we didn't see you!" Chloe spoke up.
"A ninja only reveals themselves when they want to be seen," Janine bowed lightly. "Now if you excuse me, there's a rather powerful Poison type roaming these parts that I have my eye on."
Her words captured Ash's interest, he already had three Poison types to his name but it wouldn't hurt to capture another one. After all they were quite scarce in other regions compared to other types within his possession! "Pardon my asking but what exactly is this Poison type Pokemon? Is it a Vileplume, Victreebel, Venusaur or-"
"A Muk!" Janine simply answered as stars filled her eyes. "It loves proving it's dominance by tackling other Pokemon and pinning them down with it's arms!"
"...that sounds like he's hugging them to me." Chloe remarked.
"Well the Pokemon are always unconscious afterwards!" Janine remarked with a smirk. "Nobody's been successful in capturing it either as it either tackles them or runs off before they get the chance!"
"Well I imagine being covered in sludge would be a turn off for some people." Chloe stated.
Ash on the other hand found the idea quite exciting! "I'm gonna catch that Muk!"
"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu raised his fists.
"You're welcome to try but you'll have to beat me to it!" Janine gave her chest a light tap. "A ninja's speed is unrivaled by normal trainers!"
"That's fine with me, we always welcome a challenge right buddy?!" Ash flashed Pikachu a wide grin.
"Pika pi!"
"Heh, well good luck cause I'm out of here!" Janine threw a smoke pellet at the ground causing the others to briefly cough, the smoke faded away a few seconds later to reveal Janine had disappeared completely from view which was quite something to behold as it was just open fields as far as the eye could see!
"Well I think we should split up for now, Pokemon might be scared off if we stay grouped up." Chloe spoke up.
"Right," Brock cast a quick look around before pointing in a random direction. "I think I'll go that way."
"And I'll go this way!" Ash pointed in a different direction.
"Alright then I'll go this way," Chloe turned her back to the others. "Good luck you two!"
"Likewise," Brock smiled.
"Yeah, good luck!" Ash grinned before racing off. "Come on Pikachu, let's go!"
"Pika!"
The two raced off and oddly enough it didn't take them that long to find a Pokemon as a Tauros could be seen grazing not far off from where they started.
"Hm, you think I should catch this?" Pikachu shrugged as he felt that should be up to Ash. His ear soon twitched causing him to look towards a nearby bush where a large shadow leaped out towards Tauros! The bull Pokemon was seemingly unaware of the Pokemon's presence until it landed on top of him!
"Mooo!" Tauros's hooves flailed about beneath the Pokemon as it joyfully pinned him to the ground.
"Muk!"
"Looks like luck is on our side today, Pikachu! Safari Ball, go!" Ash pulled back his cap as he fired the green Pokeball across the field. However it just so happened that Janine was nearby and had a similar idea as a ball appeared out of nowhere and flew towards Muk, arriving right before Ash's did resulting in Ash's Safari Ball engulfing Tauros in the bright red light instead! Both balls shook back and forth before one burst open to showcase Muk, the Poison type gleefully turned towards the direction of Janine before tackling her!
"Gah! Hey stop, that tickles!" Janine laughed.
"Muk!"
Meanwhile the ball Ash had thrown chimed out to confirm it's capture before disappearing in a bright white light as it was transported to Professor Oak's laboratory leaving Ash and Pikachu sweating at the turn of events.
"Tauros the Wild Bull Pokemon, although powerful it can charge only in a straight line!"
"Well I guess we got a Tauros now!"
"Pika..."
Muk leaped off Janine leaving the ninja girl covered in sludge as he quickly slithered off. "Muk!"
Janine merely shook herself off as she shot back to her feet. "Oh no you don't, get back here!"
"Come on Pikachu, we've still got a chance to capture Muk!"
"Pika!" The two quickly gave chase as they were determined to capture Muk!
"Jiggalypuff, jiggaly ly puff!"
Chloe and Eevee paused as a rather melodic sounding song reached their ears, Eevee's eyes and ears began to droop as a yawn escaped her lips.
"Huh? Oh a Jigglypuff must be nearby!" Chloe's eyes lit up as the Pokemon sounded like an ideal candidate for her Pokemon Contests with it's ability to use Sing along with the usage of Fairy type attacks which were quite a spectacular sight to behold! "Let's go check it out!"
"Eevoi..." Eevee sleepily responded while leaning her head up against Chloe's. Chloe smiled and softly stroked Eevee's head before advancing towards the source of the song, as Chloe approached she found herself slowly falling victim to the song as well but thanks to some quick thinking and ear plugs it wore off as quickly as it had came on account of her no longer hearing the song.
As she passed through some bushes she found herself greeted by the sight of an entire Tauros herd laying fast asleep with what appeared to be marker drawings across their faces. Jigglypuff stood atop her victims, her cheeks puffed out and her brow narrowed as she found their sleepy status insulting!
"Jigglypuff!" Chloe couldn't help but frown, though Jigglypuff likely wouldn't admit it it appeared as if Jigglypuff had trouble controlling the volume of her voice. Normally Sing wasn't as effective as Jigglypuff's was, Eevee was fast asleep and they weren't even within view of her! Not to mention Jigglypuff actually made Chloe herself sleepy, a feat that shouldn't be possible else Sing would be forbidden from competitive use as there wouldn't be much of a battle if both trainers and the officials all fell asleep!
Chloe slowly made her approach and upon noticing her Jigglypuff's expression turned to that of excitement before she resumed her singing. "Jiggalypu-"
"Jigglypuff, hold up!"
"Puff!" Jigglypuff puffed out her cheeks as she didn't appreciate Chloe's outburst.
"You have a problem with other Pokemon falling asleep on you correct? Well I believe I can help you fix that, it's due to your use of a microphone."
"Jiggly?!" Jigglypuff looked down at her microphone before hiding it behind her back with a possessive look. "Jiggly!"
"I'm not trying to take it from you!" Chloe raised her hands to show she meant no harm. "Why don't you try singing without it? Just place it behind you and I'll stand right here," Chloe removed her ear plugs to remove any doubt from Jigglypuff after she finished. "I'll listen to your song all the way to completion, Eevee will too right Eevee?" She gently nudged her Pokemon. Eevee shot up with an alarmed look before quickly nodding in confirmation.
"Eevoi!"
"Puff..." Jigglypuff looked down at her microphone with a doubtful expression before eventually placing it aside. "Jiggalypuff jiggaly ly puff! Jiggalypuff jiggaly..." Jigglypuff constantly flickered an eye open as she sung to check on Chloe and Eevee and much to her surprise they were still awake! A smile crossed her face as she continued to sing for a few more minutes before wrapping it up.
"Bravo Jigglypuff, that was quite the show!" Chloe clapped her hands.
"Eevoi!" Eevee cheered while leaping up in celebration!
"Jiggly..." Jigglypuff cast the two a smile before turning her attention back towards her mic, Jigglypuff gave it a soft glare before picking it up and hurling it off into the sky! "Puff!"
"That was the right move Jigglypuff, you didn't need the microphone! Now everyone will be able to appreciate the beauty of your music!" Chloe praised
"Jigglypuff!" Jigglypuff smiled at Chloe before making her approach. "Jiggly jiggly puff!" She pointed towards the Safari Balls.
"What? You want to come with us?"
"Puff!" Jigglypuff nodded.
A wide smile quickly formed across Chloe's face. "Well that works out perfectly, welcome to the team Jigglypuff!"
"Jiggly!" Jigglypuff leaped up and slapped the Safari Ball's button causing a bright red light to engulf her body as she was sucked into the ball! The Safari Ball hit the ground and shook back and forth before quickly chiming to announce the capture complete!
"Jigglypuff the Balloon Pokemon, they use their cute round eyes to enrapture their foes. It then sings a pleasing melody that lulls the foe to sleep!"
Chloe smiled as she watched the ball teleport to Professor Oak's lab, she couldn't wait to see what Contest routines the two could pull off together!
"Togepriii!" Togepi randomly began to cry after an hour of being away from her beloved trainer.
Brock dropped everything and began gently cradling Togepi in an attempt to calm her down. "Shh Togepi, everything will be fine! I promise I'll get you back to Chloe soon!" Brock looked around cautiously as he feared Togepi's cry might startle a Rhyhorn or a Tauros and potentially start a stampede! Without Croagunk around the two would be in quite the peril!
"Horn..." The bushes rustled nearby as a rhinoceros with a rocky hide stepped out, it's eyes locked directly onto Togepi as an enraged look filled his eyes. "Rhyhorn!" Rhyhorn brushed his foot against the ground, Brock went pale and attempted to run to protect himself and more importantly Togepi but Rhyhorn proved to be faster as he quickly gained on him! Brock let out a shout as he felt the tip of Rhyhorn's horn brush against his back however it didn't go much further as he'd feel a burst of wind followed by a loud crash as something slammed against the Rhyhorn! Brock quickly turned around to investigate and was surprised to see that a Kangaskhan had come to his rescue.
"Kanga!" Kangaskhan lightly kicked at the downed Rhyhorn before turning to Brock. "Kanga!" She waved her hands in a beckoning manner as her gaze fixated on the crying Togepi.
Brock looked down towards Togepi before giving Kangaskhan a look. "I shouldn't, sorry but Togepi belongs to a good friend of mine and-Hey!" Kangaskhan snatched Togepi right out of his arms and began cradling it as if it were her child, Togepi uttered a peaceful cry before falling fast asleep resulting in Brock giving the Pokemon an impressed smirk. "You sure work fast, can I have her back now? I'd like to get her back to Chloe."
"Kanga." Kangaskhan politely bowed as she handed Togepi back to Brock. The Normal type then turned around and prepared to take her leave. Brock hesitated for a moment as a thoughtful look crossed his face.
"Kangaskhan wait!"
"Kanga?"
"I'm a Pokemon Breeder you see and I could use a Pokemon as naturally gifted with children as you are, I can sense that you've got a protective nature and your skills would definitely come in useful. Though if you'd rather wait for a more battle oriented trainer to come along and catch you I'd understand." Brock politely stated before extending his offer to her. "But if you'd like, there's definitely a place for you on my team!"
Kangaskhan looked thoughtful for a moment before quickly nodding.
"Kanga!" Brock held out a Safari Ball to her and she swiftly lashed out with her paw allowing for the red light to engulf her body, the ball chiming almost instantly to confirm the capture before she was sent back to Brock's home!
"I'll see you later, Kangaskhan." Brock smiled as he was sure that the two of them would do many great things together in the future!
"I can't believe my luck, thirty Safari Balls and they all were used up on Tauros!" Ash groaned as he left the entrance to the Safari Zone once more. He made a quick call to the Professor and requested that he send twenty nine of the Tauros back to the Safari Zone as there was no way he could afford that many Tauros nor give them enough time! It was better to have a singular Tauros so he could properly raise it! "Well at least we had enough for another go, let's try and be more patient this time."
"Pika." Pikachu nodded his head in agreement as the two walked in a random direction, hoping that their luck would turn itself around!
"Huh a downed Rhyhorn, ya think Muk passed through here?"
"Pika." Pikachu shrugged.
Ash was tempted to catch Rhyhorn but thought it was better left alone as unlike Nidoking, Gengar and Beedrill, Larvitar needed training so it'd be unwise to bring in another Rock type so soon. The bushes nearby rustled and Ash quickly turned around. "That must be Muk!" Despite what he said earlier he couldn't help but instinctively throw a Safari Ball!
"Muk!" The poison sludge Pokemon flew out out of the bushes, preparing to pin Ash and Pikachu against the ground only for the Safari Ball to fly directly into his mouth! "Muk!" The Pokemon coughed before gulping it down and as it tackled Ash to the floor, a bright red light suddenly engulfed it's body as the ball opened up inside of him!
"Oh wow, talk about luck!"
"Pika..." The two gasped from relief and watched in shock as the ball shook back and forth for what felt like an eternity before eventually chiming to announce the capture complete!
"Muk the Sludge Pokemon, the stench it gives off will make your nose scrunch up. Still, there are Muk fans who think that's a good thing. After recent environmental improvements courtesy of Phoenix Industries and the Aether Foundation, this Pokemon is now hardly seen at all. People speculate that it may go extinct at some point!"
"Alright, we got a Muk!"
"Pi Pikachu!"
"Aw!" Janine hung her head as she appeared directly next to Ash and Pikachu causing them to let out a yelp of alarm!
"H-How do you keep doing that?!"
"Pi-Pikachu?!"
"A ninja can never reveal their secrets, that's the way of the ninja." Janine smirked before giving Ash a quick bow. "But congratulations, you captured Muk! Clearly the fates deem you more worthy of it so who am I to question it?" Janine laughed. Her stomach then rumbled loudly resulting in her cheeks glowing bright red, Ash's stomach rumbled shortly after resulting in them sharing a laugh. "How about we collect your friends and we'll go find someplace to eat? My treat!"
"Heh, you're on!"
The four were soon reunited and were making their approach to the Safari Zone gate when an explosion suddenly occurred, smoke quickly rising from the building as the Meowth balloon hovered above the building with what appeared to be a long vacuum hose that began swooping up the Pokeballs that the warden kept watch over. The warden could be seen tied up and gagged, muffling angrily while giving the Rocket trio harsh looks.
"Hahahaha, look at all these Pokeballs there has to be over a hundred here!" James grinned eagerly.
"The boss will be so proud of us!" Meowth exclaimed with stars in his eyes.
"And nothing will stop us this time!" Jessie cackled.
"We'll see about that, Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Pika!" Pikachu began charging his cheeks.
"Pikachu return," Meowth held up the Pokeball, returning Pikachu before dropping the ball safely into the containment unit.
"You too Eevee," Jessie grinned as Eevee soon found herself trapped in the containment unit as well! Mew curiously watched from a safe distance, blinking as she wondered if she should interfere or not.
"W-What just happened?!" Ash stared in shock while Chloe was too shocked to properly form words as she stuttered incomprehensibly!
"Hahahah, foolish twerps! This time we came prepared and this time we won't be stopped!" Jessie laughed before she and the others stuck their tongues out at the twerps. "We'll let out keep that Togepi as a parting gift, so long twerps it was a pleasure knowing ya!"
"Wobbuffet!"
Janine gritted her teeth before producing a shuriken. "I don't think so!"
"Um Janine, you're not planning on using that are you?" Ash nervously asked as he feared she'd hit Team Rocket instead of the balloon itself.
"Huh? Don't worry Ash, a ninja won't take a life unless it's absolutely necessary and my aim is perfect so there's no way that I'll miss!" Janine flashed a reassuring smirk before throwing the shuriken up. "Just watch and-" A wind blew the balloon off course causing the shuriken to miss! Janine hung her head as the Rocket trio let out a laugh of glee but that didn't last long as a masculine voice could be heard shouting from below!
"Cross Poison!"
"Cro!" A purple bat with what strangely appeared to be four wings appeared out of nowhere, each wing engulfed in a venomous purple glow before striking the balloon in an 'X' formation! The balloon popped and began flying randomly about as it lost momentum!
"Ah!" The Rocket trio cried out in terror while the containment units flew right out of the balloon!
"Pikachu!"
"Eevee!" Ash and Chloe dived forward to catch their Pokemon while Crobat sliced the vacuum causing it to go crashing towards the ground!
"Looks like... Team Rocket... is blasting... off again!"
"Wobbuffet!" The balloon flew off into the distance, vanishing from sight as the Pokeballs spilled out of the vacuum. Janine shot a quick look around before spotting her father standing atop the Safari Zone entrance. Koga's gaze fixated on her before lingering towards Ash.
'Remarkable, he looks precisely like Red when he was that age!' Ash turned his attention in Koga's direction as he felt like he was being watched however by the time he looked, Koga was already gone!
Professor Oak just finished transporting all twenty nine Tauros back to the Safari Zone when a white light flashed brightly as another Pokeball was transported to the lab. Professor Oak eagerly clasped his hands together as he saw it was one of Ash's Pokemon. "I wonder what Ash caught for me this time," Oak eagerly opened the ball only to be greeted by a powerful stench! "Aw man, that stinks!"
"Muk!" The sludge Pokemon gleefully tackled Professor Oak and Cerise to the ground as soon as he emerged! "Muk!"
"Quite the playful one isn't he?" Professor Cerise laughed.
"Well Ash does have a knack for catching unusual Pokemon!" Professor Oak laughed.
After they finished their meal at Little Scyther's Pizza, Ash and his friends went to the Pokemon Center to get a good night's sleep and prepare for the coming Gym battle while Janine headed back to the Fuchsia Gym which doubled as a dojo and their home. Koga could be seen waiting for her while still dressed in his ninja attire.
"So what did you learn?"
"Oh he's definitely the Chosen One alright! I was merely playing with him to see how he'd react to the situation and everything about him is precisely like the prophecy said!" Janine informed.
"Excellent," Koga turned to peel back a part of the dojo wall that concealed a tapestry with what appeared to be the three Kanto birds of legend along with a large silver bird Pokemon. "Then we must find some way to get him to the Orange Islands, it won't be long before the Shadowy One enacts his plan!"
And thus Brock now has a Pokemon that can Mega Evolve! It won't be happening anytime soon though as I want to avoid Mega Pokemon having a large presence in the first two books and gives time for me to properly think of one for Chloe and Jessie. It won't be Altaria as somebody else is getting that one
