While J'onn and Diana thought Drake and Batman was gunned down by the white alien invaders on the other side of the sealed tunnel, they were unaware of what was really occurring with the duo. Drake had summoned Yamato and used it to kill the aliens before Drake and Batman took another exist as more aliens showed up. With Yamato, Drake was able to cut their way out of this place and they learned that their theory n the sun being dangerous to the aliens was true.

Batman looked up to the sky to see the sun shining its rays upon them. "Just like I suspected, they seem to be highly susceptible to ultraviolet rays which explains why they quickly constructed the factories to block out the sun,"

"What's our plan then?" Drake asked.

Batman held up the red crystal. "I believe I can modify the ion matrix crystal to perform the opposite of its original function,"

"I hope you can do it fast so we can meet up with the others,"

"I have to return to my lair over at Gotham to use the tools needed there to do so,"

"Okay then, let's move," said Drake, then both heroes began to make their way to Gotham city to prepare the means for a counterattack against the white aliens.

Back in Metropolis, things were taking a turn for the worst. Numerous parts of buildings were broken apart and spread out along the among the streets alongside wrecked and burning vehicles, people were running in a state of panic and chaos with a few others seizing the opportunity to break into stores and steal various items. The police and the military are doing everything they can to oppose the threat but their crippled battle strength isn't putting the odds in their favor

Up above on the top of a tall building are Diana and J'onn looking down at the ensuing chaos with the former feeling appalled buy it. She was expecting the citizens to at least join forces with their military to fight against the invaders, but instead they perform selfish acts in order to save themselves. She couldn't help but feel that they were not worth the deaths of the two fallen heroes.

"Perhaps mother was right about mankind, they're nothing but untamed savages," Diana spoke with disgust.

"Do not judge them too harshly, they act out of fear," J'onn spoke up.

The duo didn't need to wait much longer as Flash and a recovered Green Lantern arrived at the building, having been called over by J'onn via telepathy.

"Sorry we're late, had to stop and help civilians," said Green Lantern.

"What did you call us back for?" asked Flash.

Diana pointed at the alien factory ahead of them "Superman has been captured, he's trapped somewhere inside there with Hawkgirl,"

"Whoa," Flash was finding it hard to believe that someone like the Man of Steel could have been captured, even when he had backup.

"Where's Batman and Shadow?" asked Green Lantern but Diana remained silent so J'onn spoke instead.

"They acted heroically to the very end,"

"The Bat and sword guy are gone?" Flash was in disbelief, he knew Batman was always the kind of guy to get out of many jams and he didn't know much about Shadow, but he knew he could handle himself.

"This is not good, definitely not good," Green Lantern said this with a frown on his face.

Moments later, the group had arrived close to the proximity of the factory which was currently guarded by an alien walker with Green Lantern and Flash scoping the area.

"I can't believe we're doing this again," said Flash.

"If Superman and Hawkgirl are in there, someone's go to rescue them…you're sure they're in there, aren't you?" Green Lantern turned towards J'onn who remained silent "…J'onn?"

"…yes your friends are alive but we must act quickly…the Imperium is coming," J'onn spoke ominously.

Flash quirked an eyebrow in confusion "The who?"

"The supreme intelligence which controls these invaders, we have met before,"

Flash towards Green Lantern to whisper to him "Can we trust this space case?"

"What choice do we have?" Green Lantern whispered back before speaking to the rest "Okay, we're going in…Flash, create a diversion…Diana, watch my back,"

Diana placed her hands on her hips with a smirk "You want to rely on an amateur?"

Green Lantern could only growl inwardly at the snarky response before speaking up "Alright…let's move!"

The group split into two directions with Green Lantern, Diana and J'onn going down a route while Flash took another with the latter running in between the alien walker's legs to appear behind it. Flash threw a rock at the head to catch its attention as the alien robot turned round and began firing at him but he quickly outran the laser fire to strategically position himself close to a hidden explosive mine then taunted it to attack him again. The alien walker approached then raised one of its legs to stomp on him, only for the speedster to move out of the way for it to strike the landmine and have the leg destroyed, the walker unable to maintain its balance toppled to the ground and exploded.

The group made their way inside the factory with Flash soon rejoining them soon after, a pair of alien invaders were patrolling the passageway so J'onn transformed into one of them and led them to the others before striking them both down from behind. The group continued on with their search for Superman and Hawkgirl with J'onn in the lead while cautiously keeping out of sight to avoid being detected by the alien invaders. They stopped before a wall where J'onn placed a hand on it and concentrated his powers for a moment before speaking up.

"I sense that they're somewhere behind these walls," said J'onn.

Diana approached the wall and tried to push it down to make a way through but to no avail "It's no use, we'll have to find another way,"

"Stand back," Green Lantern stepped forward and aimed his ring at the wall to fire a thin green energy beam and began to cut a hole through it.

J'onn looked up to the ceiling "We haven't much time left," eventually Green Lantern was able to cut a hole through the wall and there they found Superman and Hawkgirl hung from the ceiling unconscious, they ran to help them but J'onn suddenly spoke up "Wait! Something is not right…"

At that moment, the unconscious heroes suddenly woke up to reveal red eyes, confirming J'onn's suspicions as the hole behind them quickly sealed itself up before they could pass through it.

"It's a trap!" Green Lantern called out in alert, then small openings appeared in the ceiling which then proceeded to expel yellow gas that was all too familiar with Green Lantern and Flash. Everyone struggled for consciousness but they eventually succumbed and laid out on the ground. The 'Superman' and 'Hawkgirl' stood before them with smirks on their faces before transforming to reveal that they're the alien invaders.

"J'onn! J'onn! Wake up!" J'onn groaned shaking his head of the gas as he took in his surroundings. He was trapped with the others as the Imperium gathered their forces. He looked over to see Superman trapped with him, any injuries had already disappeared from the Kryptonian.

"Superman."

You shouldn't have risked your lives for us." Superman said.

"You would have done less for me." J'onn stares as someone on the other side of him groaned. Looking over he saw Flash waking up.

"Ow, my aching head. What happened?" He groaned.

"Earth's mightiest heroes." The heroes watched in surprise as the alien turned into someone Superman knew well. "Welcome."

"Just as Shadow thought, you really were an imposter all this time," said Superman much to the surprise of the alien.

"So you know of who I am, a pity that your very comrade lies dead alongside Batman." said 'Senator Kelly' with a sneer, causing Superman to grit his teeth with rage.

"This is far from over!"

"That's where you are wrong…" the imposter pushed a button on a control panel next to him for the ceiling to open up widely for everyone to look up to the sky, there they saw a massive spaceship hovering overhead and a smaller shuttle descended from it before coming down to land on the platform. The hatch opened up with a hiss as something descended from the shuttle it resembles a giant violet jellyfish with black and white matter swirling within…needless to say, it was very grotesque in appearance "All hail the imperium!"

"J'onn J'onzz. It's been a long time." The Imperium stated s it floated over to the heroes. With it's telekinetic powers it hoisted J'onn over to it and set him free. J'onn made no attempt which surprised the others, was J'onn giving up? Two of the invaders stepped forward with gray staffs and struck him to unleash large amounts of voltage which forcefully reverted J'onn to his original form before collapsing to the ground much to the horror of the heroes "That is much better, you have defied us for centuries."

J'onn struggled back to his feet "And I'll never bow down before you or any of your kind,"

"Then we will personally see to finishing what should have been accomplished long ago…the elimination of the last Martian," the imperium lashed out with its tentacles to grab J'onn then drew him within itself as he screamed out in pain.

"Let go of him, you filthy…grrrrr!" Superman yelled as he struggled to break from his bonds but to no avail.

"Yield to us, J'onn J'onzz," said the imperium.

"Never!" J'onn refused defiantly.

"Why do you resist? Embrace this truth, after all these years you have finally lost,"

"…have I?"

That response casted an unsettling feeling upon the imperium "You're hiding something, a secret deep within the recesses of your mind. Is this another one of your Martian tricks?"

"Do I sense fear?"

"What are you hiding?" the alien demanded.

J'onn transformed back into his Manhunter form and yelled out "…NOW!"

BOOOOOM!

There was a loud explosion and everyone turns towards the source which happens to be close to the ion chamber, there they saw something which was extremely hard to believe.

"Batman and Shadow?!" Flash spoke in disbelief.

"It can't be, they're alive?!" Diana was shocked but inwardly happy to see the duo especially Shadow are alive and well.

"I mentally shielded them so they couldn't be detected," J'onn grunted out in pain.

"Sorry we're late, traffic was hell." Drake joked as Batman inserted the device through the damaged shield of the ion chamber to attach to the crystal and was activated, causing the crystal along with the fluid inside to change from red to blue.

"What have you done?!" 'Senator Kelly' demanded.

"Reversed the ion charge," Batman replied rather bluntly.

"Destroy the crystal!" the imperium yelled out in rage, the alien invaders opened fire at the duo and the ion chamber but Batman quickly using a grappling gun to swung away whilst Drake took on the invaders head on with Rebellion in hand, Ebony in the other as he slashed and fired at them.

Suddenly Drake was sent flying from an unknown force that sent him flying across the room. Flipping his body he planted his boots on the wall and launched himself on a platform below them. Dusting himself off, Drake looked back up to see all the aliens aiming blasters at him, with the Imperium floating above them, staring at him as if it was studying him.

"Another one of these planet vile creatures, how disgusting." The Imperium growled.

"You aren't exactly a welcome sight yourself, pal." Drake retorted as he stood. "I'll give you one warning: Leave this planet and never return."

The Carter alien laughed. "You?! One man tell us to leave?!"

"Enough of this!" The Imperium roared before it used it's power to send Drake into the wall then slam him into the ground, causing him to grunt. One of the white aliens fired it's gun, getting Drake in the mask. He grunted before he ripped the now burnt mask off. "A child?!"

"Hey, I'm seventeen!" Drake defended himself.

"He's young?" Diana asked in surprise as Batman was trying to get them free while Drake was distracting the aliens.

"Never expected that." Flash said.

"Neither did I." Green Lantern said.

"Loved this suit." Drake sighed before he dropped the mask. "Oh well, I was thinking of just going a cloth over half my face. Okay you ugly bastard, if you want to fight... then I'll fight you." He brought out Ebony and Ivory. "This party's gettin' crazy! Let's rock!"

"Destroy him!" The Imperium roared as the aliens opened fire. But to the other heroes' surprise, Drake's body moved and reacted beyond the human eye as it dodged every shot aimed at his body as he shot several rounds that killed the aliens left and right. No matter how close a shot was his legs or arm moved out of the way and fired more shots killing the aliens. His close seemed to move on their own as well, missing his clothes by centimetres but no marks.

Drake then started running backwards while firing at the same time, avoiding the blaster shots. He ran up to the wall firing a round from Ebony which reduced an Alien into a pile of goo with no head. Drake pushed off the wall and flew across the room like a spiraling angel, shooting each alien that would make McCree from that game Overwatch proud.

"He is a true warrior." Diana muttered as she watched Drake shoot the demons that would make the archers on her island look like amateurs.

"He is a lot better than I thought." Hawkgirl said impressed on how quick Drake was able to fire and never miss a shot. She has been across the Universe and have never seen anyone as quick and with such precision as Drake.

"He's alright, for a kid." GL said, slightly unimpressed. Drake jumped in the air firing at a group of aliens below him until he landed on one. The alien cowered in fear as the guns were aimed at his face, but to his shock Drake pulled the guns away. The alien was confused until Drake planted one foot firmly on its chest and the other on the ground. Like the alien was a skateboard, Drake skated across the platform shooting down aliens left and right while the one below him screamed in pain as its goo like body was being torn apart.

"Woo! Yeah!" Drake laughed while spinning around, shooting a torrent of bullets that fired everywhere and killed dozens of aliens. However no matter how much Drake killed, more seemed to appear. One of them pulled out a little ball, what seemed to be a grenade like weapon. Drake aimed down Ivory and pulled the trigger, the bullet pierced through several aliens until it hit its target. The grenade exploded upon impact reducing the one held it and some around it into nothing but ashes while the ones farther away were sent flying into the air. One of the aliens in the air looked up to see a gun in his face, before it exploded from the bullet. Drake flew around the screaming aliens, shooting each one before landed back on the ground.

Seeing most of the aliens dead, Drake turned his attention to the Imperium. "Okay pal, time for you to-"

"Enough of this!" The Imperium roared as an invisible force sent him flying into a wall. With it's telekinetic power, it levitated Rebellion and, to the shock of the heroes, impaled it right through Drake's chest.

"GAH!" Drake screamed in pain.

NO!" Diana shouted with wide eyes.

"Stop!" Superman yelled in horror. "He's just a kid!"

"He will die like the rest of his kind!" The Imperium laughed.

Drake went limp as blood poured down the blade of Rebellion and dripped onto the ground.

Satisfied, the Imperium turned to the heroes as Batman freed them. "You can't stop us! Not even this pathetic child you send could stop us! The Imperium shall reign supreme!"

As the Imperium was gloating, neither it or the heroes noticed Drake's body suddenly began to pulse, beating like a heartbeat. Superman, with his super hearing, heard it and looked, causing the heroes to follow his gaze and the Imperium to look as well.

Suddenly, Rebellion's guard and jaws opened up, along with the spike of the pommel opening to reveal several spikes. Then, there was a blast of energy that threw the blade into the air, all eyes following it. The Imperium was then struck hard by something, sending it into the wall. The alien and heroes looked to see Drake standing, with a white aura pulsing around his body with each step he took, and his breathing was heavy.

"What's happening to him?" Flash asked worriedly but nobody knew the answer to that.

"Kill him!" The Imperium ordered as the white aliens ran to do just that. However, before they could attack.

"ARRRGGHHH!"

Drake gave out a powerful roar as he released a powerful blast of demonic energy, sending the aliens away, as well as the heroes but they managed to right themselves. When all looked, they saw, standing in Drake's place, was a humanoid Devil. (AN: DMC 4 Dante's Devil Trigger appearance)

"He's a... demon?" Diana asked in shock.

"He hunts them... and he's one himself?" Hawkgirl said in surprise.

"Just who is this kid?" Green Lantern asked.

Drake held a hand out and Rebellion, which had landed and had it's blade half buried in the ground, shot out and went flying straight into Drake's hand. Which surprised ever him as it never done that. Yet he felt far more stronger, more powerful, more in tune with the demonic side of him.

The Devil within had awakened.

"Who…..what are you? You are not like these other creatures." The Imperium stated. "You... you resemble HIM! That accursed Sparda!"

"My name is Drake Redgrave, son of Sparda." Drake said with a dark, demonic voice as his grip on Rebellion tightened. "And this world is under my protection."

"Destroy the Spawn of Sparda!" The Imperium roared in rage and anger at learning that accursed Sparda had a child and it was defending this planet.

The white aliens ran at the demonic Drake who narrowed his demonic red eyes before he threw Rebellion like a boomerang and watched it cut through several aliens before it came flying back to Drake's hand. Spreading his four wings, Drake shot at the aliens with speed that almost rivalled Superman, and started to slice and dice like a hot knife through butter.

"Man, look at him go!" said Flash in amazement.

'Kid's not so bad. Still shocked he's some kind of demon, and not only that but the son of Sparda.' Green Lantern thought. All Lantern Corps had heard the tales, the stories and legends about the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda, a demon who's power could take on gods and the strongest demons in the Universe. To see that very demon's son before his eyes, defending Earth, it made GL wonder if all the stories were true.

'This is... incredible.' Superman had seen many things, but this was a new one.

'Damn, this kids's strong and skilled with that sword.' Hawkgirl thought, rather impressed.

'It's like he has the strength of the gods.' Diana thought with amazement as she watched Drake easily dispatch the aliens without even trying much.

Drake then looked at the Imperium and narrowed his eyes before he flew right at it and burst right through, grabbing J'onn and flying out, dropping him where the heroes were.

"Time to end this." Drake growled before he looked up and saw the a blue energy beam to the sky and pierce through the dark clouds, he reversal of the ion charge was now complete. It caused the clouds to dissipate and the sunlight finally shone through. The sun's UV rays effect was instantaneous for any which was shone upon melted into a puddle with screams of agony while the others quickly took cover to avoid evaporation.

Drake saw the Imperium try to hide in the shade but he flew over, grabbed it tightly somehow and brought it into the sun.

"Feel the burn of the sun." Drake growled as the imperium shrieked in pain as its skin steamed and bubbled as the sun shone upon it. Drake flew out with the Imperium still in hand and delivered a huge punch that sent it flying into the sky past the clouds and into space. The full power of the sun destroying it and leaving no traces of it.

"Dang. That was intense." Flash said with awe.

"At least now it is over, all thanks to Drake." Superman said, knowing none of them could disagree with the Man of Steel.

"I owe Drake a great debt, because of him the nightmare that destroyed our home is gone." J'onn said.

"That kid is pretty tough, I'm gonna spar with him, you can count on that." Hawkgirl muttered.

Batman merely studied the battleground, having been watching when Drake had transformed and witnessed the new strength from the teenager. The way he took on the Imperium showed Batman that Drake was one of the most powerful beings on the planet, up there with Superman. He didn't know how strong this boy was but he knew one thing: He will need to keep an eye on him.

The only one who didn't voice their opinion was Diana as she simply stared as Drake came back down and as soon as he landed, he transformed back to human form. to reveal the condition he was in: His clothes, were torn in certain spots, and the area he had gotten impaled through with his own sword had healed as if it had never happened. There was only dried blood.

Drake grabbed Rebellion and sheathed it across his back, taking in deep breaths. He had never felt such power before, and yet... he felt that he was barely scratching the surface of the demonic power and blood within him.

'Something to find out another day. I'll take awakening my Devil's blood as a first step.' Drake thought to himself.

And I'll end it there to close the Rise of the Devil arc. Drake's Devil power has awakened and his Devil side has as well, but in the world of DC where there's very OP heroes and villains, Drake's barely scratched the surface of his demonic power.
