I Need a Hero
Summary: AU: Marinette is near the end of her rope with Lila and her lies, with no one on her side, except Chloé, even Adrien has been converted. What happens when an old friend from the past is transferred into the class? Lila and, entire class bashing. A new black cat is chosen. Marinette/Bastion. Kagami, Chloé, and Luka friendship. Chapter 2: A Ring and a Duel
Plagg had watched the whole thing go down with Bastion and Lila and he was giggling to himself, he hated Lila, so seeing the brat get busted was fun. He was in the bathroom with Adrien at the moment.
"That guy needs to stop this Plagg, Lila will be akumatized at this rate," said Adrien.
"Who cares, it's not as though it hasn't happened before, besides, she's hurt Pigtails with her bullying, and you haven't done anything about it, some hero you are," he said.
"Plagg, how could you say something like that? I am a hero, if Marinette would just go along with Lila instead of against her things would be ok. But I need to talk to that new guy about hurting Lila's feelings and how he talks to everyone. Who does he think he is?"
"Someone with the power to stop Sausage Hair and prove that she's a liar. I wouldn't cross him Adrien, he's probably more powerful than your dad," said Plagg.
"As if. I'm going to talk to him."
"Uh, Adrien, I think that the ring needs a polish, each time I go in there it feels filthy, do you think you could spruce it up, like right now?" asked Plagg, he had to get out of here.
"Oh, uh, sure thing, but you've never asked for this before," said Adrien, taking off the ring.
"Hey, even I know when my jewel is dirty," said Plagg with a grin.
Adrien washed the ring and was about to put it back on when there was a commotion outside. He raced out of the bathroom to see Bastion hugging Kagami and Lila was on the floor, Marinette and Chloé were watching in shock and Kagami was holding her sword in one hand. Plagg took the opportunity and grabbed the ring, flying away with it.
"What's going on?"
"She attempted to push Marinette, I lunged at her, shoving her to the ground, using my sword to defend my friend and Chloé saw everything and then I saw Bastion and we hugged," said Kagami.
"Why would Lila attempt to push Marinette?"
"Duh, because she hates her, but Liar-la didn't count on Bastion and I being with her and seeing the whole thing," said Chloé, who was holding onto Marinette tightly.
"I also recorded the whole thing, this proves that this girl is a bully," said Bastion, "I intend to show everyone."
"No, Lila could get akumatized," said Adrien.
"Oh, thank you Adrien and it wasn't like they said at all, I was trying to help Marinette," said Lila, curled up in a ball.
"No, it was like they said, I'll testify as a witness," said Kagami.
"You're a coward Agreste, you can't face the truth." Bastion had his arm around Marinette by now. "No, you're worse than just a coward, you're a dog, nothing but an obedient puppy for his daddy." Adrien turned red with anger.
"Wait, time out! It's not ok for Liar-la to get akumatized but it's ok for Marinette to get akumatized, because that's what you're saying," said Chloé, red with rage.
"You are not the boy I thought you were. Let's go Bastion sama," said Kagami.
"We're right behind you Kagami," he said.
"Wait, Bastion, how do you know Kagami?" asked Marinette.
"We knew each other when we were children before she moved to Paris," said Bastion with a smile.
"I thought you didn't have any friends before I looked at your phone, what's going on?" Marinette asked.
"My mother got me a new phone and so got rid of my old contacts and so I really did have no friends," said Kagami.
"Rubbish, you always had me," said Bastion.
"Mother didn't believe that we were worthy of associating with your family," said Kagami.
"Of course, she did," muttered Bastion who sighed and quickly wrote down his number and email for her, "There you go."
"Arigato Bastion sama, you are too kind," she said.
"Kagami, I told you, don't call me sama. Just my first name," he groaned as they all walked away from Adrien.
"I must show respect to my superiors," she said. Bastion groaned and Marinette giggled, asking what Bastion's blood type was.
"I'm the rare AB type, meaning I'm talented, composed, proud, self-centered, charming, and creative. Those are just some of the things an AB blood type is," he said. "My dad is A, and my mother is B."
"Oh, that's so cool. Kagami told me that she's an O type, I found out that I'm an A blood type," said Marinette.
"Meaning you're stubborn, responsible, tense, kind, reliable, and a perfectionist," said Bastion.
"Uh, yeah, that's me, among other things."
"What is this blood type thing?" asked Chloé.
"In Japan, blood types are considered an important indicator of a person's personality. It's known as the "Japanese Blood Type Personality Theory," said Bastion. "It's the same as being asked 'what's your sign?" in English."
"Well, that's interesting. One time I was at the doctor's I needed some blood and they said to get O type blood, so what does that mean?" asked Chloé.
"It means you're independent, passionate, jealous, ambitious, ruthless, confident, and energetic," said Bastion.
"That's not what I want to hear," said Chloé, looking down.
"It also means that you're flexible, intuitive, athletic, vain, and a romanticist," said Kagami, "Just like Marinette is wary, nervous, neat and sensitive and Bastion is aloof, mysterious, private, trustworthy and a dream-chaser," she said. "I, myself am an O type, just like you, meaning I am independent, optimistic, strong-willed, and intuitive but also cold, realistic, self-centered, calm and robust."
"Wow, I didn't know any of this stuff," Chloé admitted.
"Let's talk about our birthdays, I'm April 12th, so I'm an Aries," said Bastion.
"I'm the 9th of July, so I'm a Cancer," said Marinette.
"My birthday is November 20th, I'm a Scorpio," said Kagami.
Chloé gave her birthday and they finally sat down together in the cafeteria. Everyone stared at the new boy who had the most unusual companions sitting with him. "Can Zoé join us?" asked Chloé.
"I don't have a problem with that. Hey Zoé, come over here!" Bastion called; she was surprised but she joined them with a smile.
"Thank you for inviting me," she said.
'Not a problem, Chloé asked if you could join us," Zoé looked surprised but pleased.
You know, if we're all, you know…uh, united against that brat Liar-la, maybe we should uh… you know...make a group for us to chat on or…something like that," said Chloé, who was red in the face at her suggestion.
"I like that idea, since you had it, you should start it," said Kagami.
"Uh, I think that Bastion should be the leader, it's because of him that this is happening," said Chloé.
"That's fine with me Chloé, but you'll always have the credit for the idea," said Bastion who created the group on his phone. "Ok, usernames?" he asked.
"Swordswoman," said Kagami, accepting his friend request.
"MDCFashion," was Marinette, with a smile.
"I'll be Deckmaster," said Bastion.
"Um…SweetActress," said Zoé.
"Um, I would pick Queen Bee but, I…I'm not her anymore," said Chloé, embarrassed, being around Bastion brought out another side of her, a better side, like when they were kids.
"How about SocialPrincess?" suggested Bastion and Chloé loved the name and so their group was made. It was cut short when Lila brought in Mr Damocles and spun her story about Marinette hurting her. Alix frowned, Juleka and Nathaniel frowned.
"Is this true Marinette?" he asked.
"No sir, it's not.
"Mr Damocles, I have proof that Marinette didn't hurt Rossi at all, Rossi was going to hurt Marinette," said Bastion and he played the video and recording for Damocles.
He watched as Lila came up behind Marinette and shoved her only to be shoved back and held at sword point by Kagami. Then the conversation with Adrien was heard.
"I'm not impressed with the bullying that the students are allowed to get away with. Your school isn't as it is advertised. I'd advise you to do something about it," said Bastion, his arms folded, and Alix frowned even more, edging away from Lila and the rest of the class. With no one noticing she was yanked into a portal.
The Burrow
"What the?" she asked, looking around.
"Hey mini me," said Bunnyx, standing behind her.
"You, you're…"
"Yeah, I know. Listen and watch," she said, showing Alix all of Lila's lies.
"That, that…!"
"Yeah, I know but we just stood by and did nothing. Can you call yourself her friend?" Bunnyx asked. Alix hung her head. "I'm showing you this because now that Bastion is involved the timeline has changed dramatically. Without him, this would have happened in a week," said Bunnyx and she shows a dead Marinette to her past self. "He saved her life. The future is bright for her now, but she still needs more help. You can help by being a friend and admitting that you were wrong," said Bunnyx.
"I understand, is there anyone else I can get on Marinette's side?"
"Nathaniel and Juleka," Alix grinned. "Ok mini me, time to get you back," and she popped Alix back just after she had taken her.
Alix quickly slid over to Nathaniel and spoke quietly to him, he paled, and they both nodded. They then went over to Juleka and quietly spoke to her, she looked down, but she nodded too. "Hey, Marinette," said Alix, causing everyone to turn and look at her, Juleka, and Nathaniel who were coming over to Bastion's table. "Marinette, you were right, Lila is a lying, cheating, backstabbing liar, and bully. I'm sorry for allowing myself to be taken in by her at first and I'm also sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry I didn't speak up and do anything, it was wrong of me and cowardly. I know all about liars since I've been around cons who come to the Louvre to try and sucker my dad into buying fake stuff for the museum or try and get him to give or sell the stuff in the museum to them," Alix said, she'd taken her hat off and was looking at Marinette with sincerity and there was a sheen of tears in her eyes. "If it wasn't for Bastion and his help in exposing her and something bad happened to you, I…" she stopped talking, tears clogging up her throat. "You could have committed suicide!" she shouted, causing everyone to gasp. "I'm sorry, I'm so, so, so sorry, please let me find a way to gain your trust back, and then your friendship, because I don't deserve it," she finished, and Marinette stared, and Bastion nudged her. Alix was crying now.
"I can see she's being sincere," he muttered quietly. Marinette nodded and then went over and hugged Alix, who hugged her back.
"Marinette, I'm sorry I didn't speak up and didn't do anything for you," said Nath, "I was afraid of Lila but that's no excuse for being a bad friend. I understand why Marc doesn't like her now. I figured out that she was a liar when she mentioned that Leonardo had a wife, but he actually had no wife or children, making Lila a liar about being related to him and I doubt that any of her other lies were true either. I'm sorry for not saying anything. I was a bad friend. You introduced me to Marc and always tried to encourage me and I was just quiet. I don't deserve a friend like you, but I hope that I can, like Alix, gain your trust back and eventually your friendship, since broken trust is hard to get back. It's like burning the Mona Lisa, it's too priceless to repainted or fixed. I hope in time, you can forgive me," he said, and he had looked Marinette straight in the eye as he said all this.
"Um…Marinette," said an unhappy Juleka.
"Yes Juleka," she said.
"Uh…I'm…I'm sorry, I should have believed you instead of Lila. Luka talked to me, and I asked him to listen to her heart song a few days ago, I was never able to find the right time to tell you and I was afraid, I'm really sorry," said Juleka.
"Juleka…" Marinette was super happy that Juleka believed her, and she smiled, "It's ok, Lila could have hurt you too, I'll admit it wasn't nice being bullied by my friends. I can forgive you, but I can't forget." She hugged Juleka who nodded in understanding and hugged her back.
"I'll do what I can to regain your trust and friendship," she said with a pretty smile.
"We'll work on it together," Marinette said.
"I'm guessing that you'll give more silent support so as to not clash with Rose as she is your girlfriend," said Bastion and Juleka looked down and then at Marinette.
"I don't want you to choose between me and the one you love Juleka, it's ok," said Marinette.
"It's not ok," she mumbled.
"Well, in the meantime. Thank you so much for your apologies, they mean a lot to me and you're right, I can't give you my friendship and trust back that easily, but I can start forgiving you. Hi, I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, nice to meet you all," and she held out her hand. The three smiled and shook her hand. "Is it alright with everyone else if they sit with us?" she asked the others.
"After sincere apologies like that, why not?" asked Bastion with a smile. Alix, Juleka and Nathaniel sat with them, drawing Marc, Aurore, Jean, and Mireille from Miss Mendeleiev's class to join them as well. Bastion was introduced to all of them, and he liked them, and they liked him.
As for Lila, she couldn't believe what was happening, this morning, Marinette had nobody except Chloé and her dumb sister and then some guy showed up and turned her plans to get rid of Marinette upside down. She was given a warning about bullying and a mark on her record for lying to get an innocent student in trouble. She gritted her teeth; she'd get dirt on Bastion and then spread lies about him.
Meanwhile Adrien was searching frantically for his Miraculous in the bathroom, but it wasn't anywhere and Plagg wasn't responding to his calls at all. He was really worried, but he couldn't ask around or anything, it would give his identity away. He did know that it wasn't that new guy, Bastion, he hadn't gone into the bathroom at all, and he'd been with Chloé, Kagami, and Marinette as well. He sighed, maybe Plagg was trying to find him, maybe he'd taken the ring and was trying to find him right now, but it shouldn't take so long then.

Bastion was in the locker room after school and no one was around, he'd just made a call and what he'd asked for would soon be here.
"Psst!" he heard, and he turned his head to see a floating black cat with green eyes, holding a ring, fly up to him. "Finally, you're alone, here, hold his for me," said the cat and dropped the ring into his hand.
"Parden me but who and what are you?" asked Bastion calmly, he was used to the unusual because of his family.
"I'm Plagg, I'm your Kwami, a Kwami is a divine being and basically a quantic or small god, that comes into existence each time a new concept is born, I represent the concept of destruction, the very first Kwami represents creation, that's when we really came into being. I can grant you superpowers Bastion, as long as you wear the ring and say the activation phrase," he said.
"I see. Why me?"
"Because one, Ladybug needs a cat, two, my old user was becoming unreliable and obsessive and not very useful in a fight. Three, you could say that he was a temporary holder until you came along, you have the soul of a cat, you're the real chosen one to fight alongside Ladybug and help defeat Shadow Moth," said Plagg.
"Your old user wouldn't have been Adrien Agreste, would he?" Plagg's jaw dropped in shock. "As I suspected, both have blonde hair, green eyes, same skin tone and are the same height. Counting the fact that this morning he had a ring on his finger and after he came out of the bathroom and he didn't and you're here now, I conclude he was that useless alley cat, Cat Noir," said Bastion and he slipped the ring on his own finger, it transformed from its natural state to a white ring with a cat's head on the top with blue eyes.
"That's the proof you're the true holder of the cat, only then will the ring transform!" exclaimed Plagg.
"Ok I'll do it, what's the activation and deactivation phrase and is there anything else you need to tell me now?" asked Bastion
"You get five minutes after using your superpower, cataclysm, before you power down. Your suit will be based on what you think represents a hero, I have other powers that are accessible through potions. Ladybug is the current Guardian of the Miraculous. Shadow Moth uses the Peacock and Butterfly Miraculous and you can fuse two or more Miraculous together. I also need food in order to recharge, I like camembert as my preference and I can't be seen in photos or video cameras, screens or by robots but unlike vampires I do have a reflection. I think that's all the important stuff for now. You better get going or you'll miss your duel against that brat," said Plagg.
"Got it all memorized, one question, how will we hide that I'm now wearing two rings instead of one?" asked Bastion.
"Keep it in your pocket until tomorrow, then you can pass it off as a ring your family gave you, after all, it's very different from the form I gave you it in."
"Point," he said and popped the ring into an inside pocket in his jacket before leaving with Plagg hiding inside his pocket as well.

"Oh, Bastion, I thought you weren't going to how up," said Lila, looking terribly upset that he had, she had been prevented from sneaking away by everyone who wanted to see her duel.
"Just psyching myself up to win," he said. "Plus, you will call me by my last name as you do not have my permission to call me by my first name," he said.
Lila went red with rage and her friends began to speak up for her, but Bastion turned his head to focus on the incoming limo that parked outside the school.
A man with black hair and sideburns, in a suit and glasses stepped out of the driver's seat and walked up to Bastion with a package, "Master Bastion, the packages you requested," he said.
"Thank you very much Roland," he said and tossed one of the packages to Lila. "It's a Duel Disk, unopened and as such, I can't be accused of cheating, since I'm also using one," he said, opening up the box and slipping the disk onto his wrist. Everyone was staring, Bastion had a limo! So that meant he was rich.
"How rich are you?" asked Alya in shock.
"I make the Agrestes look like paupers," is all he said as he put the new deck into the disk. "Ok, to be fair I'll explain everything to everyone before we start since it seems not everyone plays Duel Monsters," said Bastion, who quickly explained the rules and about the cards. "We'll start with four thousand life points each and the first to zero life pints loses. Let it be noted that both Rossi and I have brand new structure decks and they are also the same structure deck so no one can call out any cheating. The only thing I have on my side is experience," said Bastion.

"I'll start, I draw, now I'll summon Tune Warrior in attack mode, then I'll place two cards facedown and end my turn. It's your move," he said to Lila. (TW 1600/200)
"I play Man-Eater Bug in attack mode," said Lila. Bastion face-faulted, she was obviously not listening when he explained about Flip Effect monsters. (M-E B 450/600)
"You do realize that Man-Eater Bug is a Flip Effect monster and far weaker than my Tune Warrior, right?"
"'It's ok, because I know that since we're friends, you'd never attack me and I'll play this card, Threatening Roar," she said but her duel disk beeps an alarm. "What's going on?"
"You can't use traps from your hand unless it's specified in the card text. You can only play traps facedown and then use them on your opponent's turn and afterwards," said Bastion, he was getting irritated.
"I'll play it facedown," she said and placed it on the monster slot, causing another beep. "Now what?"
"That's the monster zone, the spell and trap zones are the slots in the side of the disk, under the monster zones. Weren't you listening to a single thing I said earlier?!" he asked. "I think you'd better end your turn before you embarrass yourself even more," he advised. Lila ended her turn with flaming red cheeks. She forgot to play her trap facedown because of her embarrassment.
"My turn then, I draw. I play Rapid Warrior in attack mode," he said. (RW 1200/200) "He has an effect. During my first main phase his effect can be activated, and if I do, he can attack my opponent directly, but other monsters can't attack this turn, so go Rapid Warrior, take a chunk out of Lila's life Points! Attack Lila directly!"
"Ack!" as she fell down.

"I'll end my turn with a face down," said Bastion.
"I…I draw. I play Hayabusa Knight in attack mode," she said. "I read his text; he can attack you twice." (HK 1000/700)
"Unfortunately, he's weaker than both of my monsters, so that don't give you an advantage. If you used him to attack my monsters, he'll destroy himself and you'll lose life points too," said Bastion.
Lila scowled and placed her Threatening Roar facedown and Rising Energy facedown as well.
"So, it's my move. I draw and I summon my Quillbolt Hedgehog in attack mode, he won't be around for long. (QH 800/800) "I'll play a spell, my face down, Enemy Controller, it has two effects, and I can only choose one. Effect one is that I can target one face-up monster my opponent controls and change that target's battle position. Number two is that I can tribute one monster, then I can target one face-up monster my opponent controls. I can take control of that target until the End Phase. So, by sacrificing Quillbolt Hedgehog, I can take control of your Hayabusa Knight," said Bastion as her Knight left her field and appeared on his.
"That's not fair!" yelled Alya.
"It's fair Alya, if it wasn't legal then the Duel Disk would have been switched off right away if there was any cheating involved, which it wasn't. What Bastion did was a legal move," said Marinette.
"Shut up Maritrash!" she snapped. Marinette looked hurt and upset but Chloé slapped Alya for that comment. Bastion looked like he wanted to do something too, but he kept himself composed and focused on the duel.
"My Quillbolt's effect activates. If he's in my graveyard I can Special Summon him back to the field. However, I have to banish it when it leaves the field. I have to control a Tuner to activate and to resolve this effect. I have Tune Warrior on the field so come on back, Quillbolt Hedgehog!" said Bastion. (QH 800/800) "I'll activate my other facedown, a spell called Giant Trunade, this basically washes away all spells and traps on the field away and send them back to our hands, but I don't have any on my field and you have two," he pointed out.
Lila was startled to see both of her cards back in her hand. "How?" she asked.
Bastion shrugged, saying that it just happened and not to question it. Now, it's time for your defeat. Quillbolt, take out Rossi's Man-Eater Bug!"

"Now, Hayabusa Knight, attack Rossi," he ordered.
"Ow!" she said.

"Again!" said Bastion, Lila lost one thousand more life points.

"Tune Warrior, finish this! Attack Rossi directly!" said Bastion.

"Game Over Rossi, I win," said Bastion.
"That's not fair, you cheated! Lila how could you lose?" asked Alya. Bastion rolled his eyes at the cheating comment.
"I…uh…." She was cut off by a man getting out of the limo, along with a woman, a child and another man.
"That's because she's nothing but a liar," said the man who had brown hair, blue eyes and wore a white suit, "I am Seto Kaiba and that was a disgrace to dueling," he said.
"Hello father," said Bastion and Seto nodded to him as he walked over and took the duel disk back and the deck as well.
"FATHER!" shouted the school, not just Bastion's class.
"Yes, the name I registered under, Misawa, is just a name I go by in order to try and live a normal life but in circumstances like this, well, the secret is out," said Bastion as he was handed a white trench coat by Roland and he shrugged off his yellow jacket, putting on the trench coat instead. Marinette, Chloé, and Kagami giggled; they'd known the whole time.
Lila couldn't believe it, this guy, Bastion, wasn't a nobody! He was the son of one of the most influential, richest, and famous men in the entire world. That meant that Bastion was, from his actions today, practically trained to spot liars and manipulators and he could get away with insults and such because of who he was as no one was going to risk bringing down the wrath of Seto Kaiba upon them.
"Hello Marinette," said Seto to the girl, giving her a small but warm smile.
"Hello Mr Kaiba," she said shyly, and Chloé and Kagami were also greeted. The three girls were hugged by the other man, whom Bastion introduced as his uncle Mokuba. The woman was Bastion's mother, Serenity and the boy was his younger brother, Noah, who had his mother's hair and blue eyes from their father's side. Bastion revealed that Rebecca Hawkins was married to his uncle Mokuba, and they had two kids, and his other aunt and uncle were Mai and Joey Wheeler and they had triplets. They were all still in Japan and Mokuba was only here for a few days having wanted to ensure that the family was settled before going back to Japan and running the Japanese branch of Kaiba Corp from there.
Seto invited the three girls back to the mansion and they accepted. Bastion grinned and opened the door for the girls who got in. "Dad, can I invite my new friends, Zoé, Juleka, Alix and Nathaniel too?" he asked as the rest of his family got in the limo.
"I don't see why not," he said. The aforementioned kids looked thrilled and got in the limo.
"So, dad, will we be adding Marinette, Chloé and Kagami to the permanent visitors list? And the rest of my new friends too?"
"Yes, only they will be allowed into the mansion on a permanent basis unless you make more friends that deserve it," said Seto.
"I think some new friends I made might find their way onto that list," said Bastion and they drove off, making everyone stare after them.
Alix, Juleka and Nath felt relief that they'd realized their mistake and they went with Bastion and the others, leaving Lila to stew about how bad her day had been.
