1st year - Too Academy
...
"It's Tetsu's birthday soon," Mac said.
"Mm," Daiki hummed.
"We should do something for him," Mac said looking at Daiki who was lying on his back on his bed looking relaxed. She was sitting in the chair by his desk having finished some of her homework for her magic lesson with Sato the next day.
"What?" Daiki asked. "He might have plans with his new friends."
"Daiki," Mac smiled a little as she looked at him. "Don't pout."
"I'm not pouting," Daiki protested.
Mac laughed and got up from her seat and walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge of it beside him. It dipped slightly as her weight was added.
"Yes, you are," Mac said putting a hand on his arm. "You know Tetsu is your friend as well, Daiki. If you want to see him, you can call and ask to meet. Didn't you talk about that after we played them?"
Daiki was quiet for a moment before glancing at her and saw the searching look in her eyes and looked away.
"I… I just… I feel bad," Daiki admitted.
Mac sighed nodding as she understood.
"Avoiding him won't make it go away," Mac said gently. "And waiting for him to reach out first won't either."
"I know," Daiki said.
"It's not like you haven't seen him since we finished Teiko, Daiki," Mac pointed out. "We've spent time together."
"All of us," Daiki said. "Together as a group, yes. Mostly because of you or Akashi ordering us."
"He's not ordering us," Mac protested.
Daiki rolled his eyes, "fine, but still, it's been because of either you or Akashi and never…."
"Never just the two of you like before," Mac finished for him. "I get it, but Daiki… He won't be the one to reach out first. You need to."
"Why?" Daiki mumbled closing his eyes.
"You pushed him away," Mac said.
"I was stupid," Daiki scoffed closing his eyes. "Maybe I should stay away."
"Don't say that," Mac said reaching out and cupped his face with a hand. He opened his eyes and looked at her when he felt her touch and reached up to place his hand over hers as if to keep it there. "He wants to see you, Daiki. He just… doesn't know how to reach out first. So, you should."
"Okay," Daiki sighed. "But still… his birthday?"
"Let's ask if Seijuro and Murasakibara would come and maybe we could play basketball together?" Mac hummed. "That would be something Tetsu would like. I know he has missed it."
"You too," Daiki said.
"Yes, but this is for Tetsu," Mac said. "I want to show him that we see the efforts he has put through since… well, since the change."
"Okay," Daiki said. "If you can get the others to agree, then I'm in."
"Good," Mac grinned.
Daiki squeezed her hand before letting go and Mac pulled her hand back. She was about to get up when she suddenly was pulled back and suddenly was pulled fully onto the bed and found Daiki hoovering above her with a grin.
"Wha….Daiki!" Mac gasped.
"What?" he asked innocently. "Did I do something wrong?"
Mac rolled her eyes but smiled as she put her arms around his neck and pulled him down. He was smiling when he kissed her.
The sound of a door closing a while later, Mac couldn't say how much time had passed, made them pull apart. Her heart felt like it was trying to escape her chest and she felt warm all over. Looking at Daiki told her that he was equally affected.
He smiled so softly at her as he leaned down and kissed her softly again before pulling back so he could free her and allow her to sit up.
The sounds of the twins and Ayano reached them and Mac knew it was just a matter of time before they would find them here.
Maybe it was good that they had come back, stopping them from going too far because Mac knew that they were dangerously close to that line and having toyed with it for a while now. She wasn't sure she was ready, but she wanted it… she just worried. What if she was bad at it and he didn't like it?
She sat up and for safety moved back to the desk and pulled the book closer trying to distract her mind from, well, him. He was watching her but didn't say anything.
"Mac-nee!" Shiro yelled as he opened the door to Daiki's room. "I didn't know you would be here today!"
"Hey, Shiro," Mac smiled. "Did you have fun at practice?"
"It was okay," Shiro said.
"Good," Mac said.
...
Mac had talked to Seijuro and Atsushi both agreeing to come to Tokyo for Tetsuya's birthday. So, now she just had to talk to Tetsuya. She reached for her phone and found Tetsuya's number before hitting the call button.
"Hello?"
"Hey Tetsu," Mac said.
"Mac," Tetsuya said. "How are you?"
"I'm fine," Mac smiled. "Busy with school and well, you know."
"Ah, be careful to take breaks," Tetsuya said.
"Sure," Mac said. "So, do you have plans for your birthday, Tetsu?"
She heard sounds in the background and realist that he must be outside.
"Um, no," Tetsuya said. "Not yet."
"So, what about spending it with us playing basketball like old times?" Mac asked feeling almost nervous but not sure why.
"Really?" Tetsuya sounded surprised.
"Yes, really," Mac said. "The others all said they would like that. Of course, if you don't want to play basketball, we can do something else…"
"No, I would like that," Tetsuya said. "It sounds like fun."
"Yes," Mac smiled. "So, we thought to meet around noon at the street court by Teiko? Do that sound acceptable?"
"Yes," Tetsuya said. "I look forward to it."
"Good," Mac said. "See you then, okay? I have to go and finish my homework for charms."
"Okay," Tetsuya said. "See you soon, then."
Mac smiled as she put her phone down. He had sounded happy and she hoped that this would mean new happy memories together. Not that they hadn't had happy memories this last year, but she knew that their different opinions about basketball had clouded a lot of their interactions and it had been especially hard for Tetsuya.
...
"Thief," Taiga pouted when he saw her, and Mac arched a brow.
"What?" Mac asked.
"We planned on having a birthday party for Kuroko," Taiga said. "And just before I could ask him you called and stole him."
Mac felt her lips twitch.
"Ah, sorry," she said.
"You don't look it," Taiga accused.
"Well, not really," Mac shrugged. "Tetsu is ours."
Taiga rolled his eyes, "you guys are all so weird."
Mac laughed, "sorry. You were too slow."
"We're still doing it," Taiga huffed, "just after he's met with you."
"Oh?" Mac tilted her head. "You think we would let him go that early?"
Taiga scowled but she just smiled.
"We'll see," Mac said. "But if Tetsu wants to meet you as well, then that's fine… If the others let him go."
Taiga huffed.
"He's our teammate too, you know," Taiga said.
"And he is our friend," Mac said. "But why can't we just have dinner together here? After he's met us on his own, of course. But we could have a party here or something?"
"I guess," Taiga said. "We had planned on being here either way."
"So, we can share him," Mac grinned. "I know he's your teammate, Taiga. But he also belongs with us and we won't let him go, just know that okay?"
Taiga looked at her.
"You have a strong bond with them, don't you?" he finally asked.
"Sure," Mac nodded. "I guess you could say that."
...
"We need to replace Imayoshi and Susa," Mac said looking over at Harasawa who nodded. "It's not easy to replace them."
"It's not," Harasawa said. "Do you have any ideas?"
"Hm," Mac frowned. "Do you want to recruit players as you did with us?"
Harasawa smiled, "it's not in my immediate plans but if there's a player out there that has the potential then I'm ready to do so."
"I think I would like to check out a couple of players," Mac said. "One is from Teiko, but the other is from Shoei Middle School."
"Oh?" Harasawa arched a brow. "And who are these players?"
"Kasahara Jisuke from Kamizaki Middle School and Yugi Ren from Shoei," Mac said. "They both have potential. Kasahara is a strong small forward and has the potential to be a centre. While Yugi Ren is not as tall as most basketball players he is fast and have good technique."
"Hm," Harasawa said. "You know them?"
"No," Mac said. "I remember them from when we played their teams, but I don't know them really. I know they have talent and it might be what we need, but I would need to do a little more research on them and how they have developed this last year. I haven't been able to follow middle school basketball that closely."
"Well, get more information about them and let me know," Harasawa said. "I'll make a decision then."
"Okay," Mac said.
She knew that she would be able to find the information easily enough even if it did add more to the pile of work she had to do. She got up and left to get changed for the practice and saw that Daiki already was there spinning a ball on his finger even if he didn't really pay it much attention as he talked to Sakurai.
...
Sato's house
...
Mac was mediating. Again. She really didn't understand why it was so difficult. Yet every time she tried to meditate her mind would drift to other things and that took away from her meditating. It was not so simple to turn off her mind.
"Okay, that's enough for now," Sato said, and Mac opened her eyes and let out a relieved sigh.
"Good," Mac said. "So, what now, Professor?"
Sato smiled amusedly as he watched her.
"Did you read the chapter I told you to?" Sato asked.
"Yes," Mac said. "About the Protean Charm."
"Tell me about it," Sato said and listened as Mac explained the charm the best she could and nodded a couple of times.
"…and the charm in English comes from Proteus a god in Greek mythology that was a shape-shifter. Basically, the charm allows several objects to change simultaneously through a common purpose."
"Do you think the etymology of the charm is important to the charm itself?" Sato asked. "Since you brought it up."
"Well, it's curious to see the word coming from a Greek god that could shape-shift, even if it is a myth. It suggests flexibility, versatility and the ability to assume many forms. And the charm can control several objects at the same time also signalling flexibility. The fact that you can use it on different objects also signal flexibility because you're not bound to a certain object."
"Alright," Sato said. "Interesting view. I want you to practice the charm now."
He conjured some galleons on her desk, and she blinked.
"Fake ones," he said. "But they're practical to practice on."
"Okay," Mac said.
...
Sato watched as she worked and saw the concentration on her face as she tapped her wand on the galleon.
He let her work for the next thirty minutes before he stopped her.
"It's difficult," Mac said.
"It is a difficult charm," Sato agreed. "You'll continue next time."
"Fine," she sighed. "I just… wish I could get it right."
"It's not normally mastered after just one lesson, Potter-san," Sato said.
"Okay," Mac smiled.
Sato nodded and hesitated for a moment.
"Professor? Is something wrong?" Mac asked noticing his hesitation.
"Perceptive," he said and saw her smile a little. "I was going to give you some articles that were posted in Britain recently because I think it is important that you are aware of some of what has been going on over there. "
Mac frowned looking apprehensive and he could understand why.
"Here," he said and levitated the articles over to her desk.
She looked down and slowly reached out to pick them up. He watched as she started to read and saw the emotions flicker over her face as she read. Sadness, confusion, annoyance and anger.
"Why can't they just leave me alone?!" She asked looking up and dropped the articles back down onto her desk.
"Because you are the Girl-Who-Lived," Sato said. "You will be mentioned by them."
"They don't know me," Mac said. "And I'm not."
"You are," Sato said. "Mac, I know you don't like it. I understand, but it doesn't change the fact that to them you are a symbol of the end of a dark time. To them, you are the Girl-Who-Lived."
She noticed him using her first name something he rarely did so she knew he was serious and that he regretted what he told her. She slumped back into her seat and scowled at the articles spread out on her desk.
Why couldn't they just forget her?
She picked one of them up again and scowled as she read the headline: Where is Mackenzie Potter?
She couldn't believe how they suddenly were so interested in finding her. No one had cared until she never showed up at Hogwarts. It was like she didn't matter until they could have a need of her, until they found they wanted her. No one cared that she might need them.
The other talk about the Malfoy family wanting Sirius' money and estate was also worrying and she should tell Sirius. While he was still wanted in Britain, he was free here, so maybe he could do something from here? It wasn't right that someone else took his inheritance.
"I just want to live my life," Mac whispered. "Is that so wrong?"
"No," Sato said. "It's not wrong, and that's what we've tried to let you do here. We're still working on that, Potter-san. Trust me, we are doing our best to protect you, but you need to be aware of this. I can't guarantee that it will never catch up to you because it probably will one day, but we'll do our best to keep that day from coming too soon."
Mac looked at him and he saw the tears swimming in her eyes, but they didn't fall. She nodded and swallowed trying to force her emotions back. He knew she was scared, he wished he could tell her it was unfounded, but he couldn't.
"I know," she said. "Thank you."

Too Academy
...
"I see," Sirius frowned as he had read the article Mac had given to him. "I guess I shouldn't be too surprised."
Mac didn't say anything as she watched him. She wasn't sure what to say.
"I suppose so," Remus said thoughtfully. "What do you want to do about it?"
"I don't know," Sirius said. "If I know Malfoy right, he will push until he gets what he wants."
"You know him?" Mac asked.
"He married my cousin," Sirius snorted.
"Your cousin?" Mac blinked.
"My family wasn't… well, good," Sirius said glancing over at her. "Malfoy was a Death Eater."
"Voldemort's supporter, right?" Mac asked.
"Yes," Sirius nodded.
"Then why isn't he in jail?" Mac demanded.
"Because he has money and is a pureblood," Sirius said. "He claimed he was under the imperious curse and forced to support Voldemort. He lied his way out of jail."
"And they bought it?" Mac asked.
"Money is valuable for some," Remus said.
"Great," Mac muttered. "And now he wants your money."
"Well, old Lucius is greedy and always wants to be more powerful," Sirius said.
Mac frowned. Should she care about that?
"Would he hurt others?" she asked quietly.
"He has before," Remus sighed looking at her. "He's not a good man, Mackenzie."
"Great," Mac said again. "Just… great. And the talks about Death Eaters attacking again? Is he involved in that?"
"Probably," Sirius said. "Probably trying to help himself in some way. Don't know how, though."
Mac shook her head.
"And that's why they are suddenly looking for me again," she said. "I don't know what they expect from me. It's not like I would make any difference if I were there or not."
"They might believe it would," Remus said.
"Too bad because I'm not going back!" Mac snapped.
"I never said that," Remus said calmly.
Mac huffed and walked over to the window. She didn't like this. She wished she didn't know about this, but she knew. It wasn't like she could do anything about the Death Eaters. She felt bad for the ones who got hurt, it was sad and horrible, but seriously, what were the people in Britain expecting? That she came back, and the Death Eaters just magically disappeared?
She snorted. As if.
"We don't want you to go back," Sirius said making Mac look over at him. "I'm free here now because of you and over there I'm not. And we want to be where you are, and that's here, Mackenzie. Your happiness is what is important."
Mac smiled slightly and nodded unable to say anything. She appreciated it more than she could say. Suddenly her phone rang, and she blinked as she looked at the clock.
"Whops," she muttered pulling out her phone. "Hey, Seijuro!"
"Where are you, Mac?" Seijuro said. "I'm at the station now and I thought you were going to meet me here?"
"Yeah, sorry," Mac grimaced. "I got caught up with something. But I'll leave now."
"Hm, okay," Seijuro said. "I'll meet you at the street court then."
"Okay," Mac said and ended the call. "Sorry about that, but I must leave. I'm meeting the others."
"Oh?" Sirius asked.
"It's Tetsu's birthday today and we're meeting at noon," Mac said looking at the clock.
"Well, we'll meet you another day then," Remus smiled. "Have fun with your friends."
Mac smiled and nodded. "Nao!"
Nao came running and jumped up in her arms getting smaller as he did so he could more easily fit into her arms.
"Good boy," Mac cooed at him. "Are you ready to go and see Tetsu?"
Nao yapped and Mac smiled.
...
Remus watched as Mac walked away down the street and frowned a little.
"What's on your mind?" Sirius asked noticing the look.
"Nothing," Remus said.
"No, there is something," Sirius said. "I know that look."
"I was just thinking about how close Mackenzie is with her basketball friends," Remus said.
"We already knew that," Sirius said. "I mean… we've seen it."
"Yes," Remus agreed. "And it's the kind of bond that we had back at school… Me, you… James."
Sirius smiled sadly, "yeah… I wish James were here."
"Me too," Remus smiled.
"But what about this bond? You don't think it's a bad thing? Mackenzie has found friends that will be there for her no matter what," Sirius said. "They've proven that."
"I know," Remus said. "I was just thinking about something."
"What? You're being vague," Sirius complained.
"That if they have the same kind of bond as we did, that it could mean they know," Remus said.
"Know?" Sirius looked confused.
"You knew I was a werewolf rather quickly," Remus pointed out. "You worked it out because we were close."
"Well your excuses were rather lame," Sirius said.
"But the point is that you knew," Remus said. "There was no one else I would trust with that information, but I trusted you. And…"
"You think she told them about magic?" Sirius frowned.
"I think they know," Remus admitted. "They're close and they must have noticed something about her, seen something. They never seem to question what she tells them or who we are… I think they know."
"Oh," Sirius frowned. "That could be…. Bad."
"Maybe," Remus said. "But I'm not sure I'm surprised. We'll have to wait and see how this turns out and protect her if the truth comes out."
"Will you confront her?" Sirius asked.
"No," Remus said. "Not yet at least. Besides, I could be wrong."
...
Mac hurried toward the street court knowing that she was a little late. She pushed away her worries because this was about Tetsuya. She wasn't going to ruin the day with her own drama.
"Mac-cchi!" Ryota called when she came up behind them.
She was the last one there. Ryota had bounced over to her and threw his arms around her and hugged her.
"Hey, Kise," Mac smiled hugging him back.
He pulled back and let go smiling at her and she looked around feeling herself relax as she saw their smiling faces. This was just what she needed.
"Happy birthday, Tetsu," Mac said walking over to Tetsuya and hugged him.
"Thank you, Mac," Tetsuya smiled when she pulled back.
She smiled and laughed as Atsushi picked her up and twirled her around a bit.
"Mac-chin!" he said. "I missed you!"
"Missed you too," Mac laughed. "Put me down, please."
"Fine," he said.
Seijuro was watching with a smile so she walked over and hugged him too before smiling to Shintaro who pushed his glasses up and offered her a smile in return.
"Hello," Shintaro said.
"Yes, yes," Daiki huffed. "Now we all have said hey can we start?"
Mac arched a brow and exchanged a look with Tetsuya. When was the last time Daiki had been impatient to start playing basketball?
"Let's start," Mac smiled. "How should we divide the teams?"
In the end it ended up drawing straws in order to decide.
Mac was on the side-lines while Daiki, Tetsuya and Shintaro were going against Atsushi, Seijuro and Ryota.
...
They divided up into two teams and played games just for fun like old times. They took turns sitting out so the teams would be even, but no one really paid any attention to who was winning or losing. They just enjoyed playing like they used to. They mixed the teams so at the end they had all played with each other and against each other.
Mac had brought a camera, so she snapped a few pictures of them playing and having fun.
Though, Mac noticed that Atsushi wasn't as into it as the rest. She frowned a little when he pulled back during one of their breaks. She was standing with Daiki when she noticed and squeezed Daiki's hand quickly before letting go making him look at her for a moment but turned back to Tetsuya and the others.
Mac walked over to Atsushi and nudged him gently with her shoulder (she only hit his arm though – he was annoyingly much taller than her).
"What's up, Murasakibara?" Mac asked.
"Nothing, Mac-chin," Atsushi said.
Mac looked at him for a moment. "You don't have fun?"
"I have fun," Atsushi said.
She looked at him with a small frown.
"You sure?" she asked. "You look sad."
He was quiet for a moment.
"I don't know what to do," he admitted.
"Oh?"
"I wanted to quit," Atsushi said. "Basketball isn't fun."
Mac felt her heart clench slightly as she heard the hurt in his voice.
"You are allowed to quit if you don't like playing," Mac said even if she wished for him to keep playing. But she didn't want him to play for the wrong reasons.
"But this is fun," Atsushi said. "Maybe… maybe I could have fun with basketball again. Do you think I can?"
Mac smiled softly reaching out and took one of his hands in hers and squeezed.
"I know you can," Mac said. "You have a good team, Murasakibara. Himuro is good to you, isn't he?"
"He gives me sweets," Atsushi said.
Mac laughed. That was, of course, what mattered for Atsushi.
"You can't just eat sweets, though," Mac said teasingly.
"I'm not," he pouted.
"Give it one more chance, then," Mac said turning the conversation back to the topic they were discussing. "If you find that you don't like it then you know."
"But… basketball is what we do together," Atsushi said.
"Not only," Mac said. "We haven't played together like this in months."
"But it's what makes you happy, Mac-chin," Atsushi said.
Mac swallowed back the sudden rush of emotion that filled her. Was he playing for her sake?
"You know that you would be my friend even if you didn't play, Murasakibara," Mac said. "I want you to be happy too."
Atsushi smiled slightly before he suddenly pulled her into a hug. Mac made a sound of surprise but hugged him back. She knew that Atsushi was more sensitive than most assumed.
"It will be alright," she promised when she pulled back. "You will find the right answer for you, but you need to find it yourself. I can't tell you what to do, but you should play because you want not because you think I want you to. I just want you to be happy."
"Okay, Mac-chin," Atsushi said.
...
"Is it just me or is it unfair that Akashi was the only one who never lost?" Daiki asked.
"Oh? Was I?" Seijuro asked.
Mac laughed, "it's normal, though."
"One day we'll beat you even when it's just us," Daiki said.
"You can try," Seijuro smirked.
Ryota laughed as well as he bounced over and hugged Tetsuya who rolled his eyes but didn't pull away.
"So, what now?" Shintaro asked pushing his glasses up his nose.
"I…" Mac trailed off as she looked at the camera. "I want us to take a picture together."
They looked at her and she was already picking up the camera.
"Okay," Seijuro said.
"That would be nice," Tetsuya agreed.
Mac watched as they grouped together, and she set the timer on the camera before placing it on the top of the bench so it would get them all. She ran over so she stood in between Daiki and Seijuro and felt Daiki place his arm around her shoulder.
When they finished, she moved over to the camera again and picked it up. She couldn't wait until she could get the pictures developed. Her sketching pad was already filled with the beginning of sketches of their day together. She would work more on them later but had started in order to remember and get it right.
"Dinner is at my home," Mac said looking up. "With Seirin."
"Kagami and the others also asked to meet today," Tetsuya said.
"Mac said," Seijuro said. He hadn't been too happy about it but had agreed when Mac pointed out that Tetsuya was close with his new team as well and they couldn't stop him from seeing them. "It's fine."
"But you'll come, right?" Tetsuya said looking around. He wasn't ready for this day to be over yet. This was what he had missed and had hoped for a very long time. This day had been perfect with just playing basketball for fun like old times and hanging out, talking and laughing together.
"If you want us to," Seijuro said.
"Of course, I do," Tetsuya said.
"Then we'll come," Mac smiled.
...
Taiga looked at Himuro who smiled back at him.
"Thanks for helping," Taiga said.
"I don't mind," Himuro said with a shrug. "It's a lot of food to prepare for everyone."
"Mac would have helped but she's with Kuroko and the others now," Taiga said.
"She's been teaching you too, hasn't she?" Himuro asked.
"A little," Taiga shrugged. "With dad travelling, we need to cook ourselves and it wouldn't be fair to have Mac do all of the cooking."
"True," Himuro said.
Taiga heard the sounds of talking from the living room where the rest of his team was decorating before Tetsuya arrived with Mac and their friends.
...
They had just finished preparing the food and decorating the living room when the door opened, and Mac came walking inside with her friends. Taiga saw Tetsuya right behind Mac and saw the smile on his face when he saw the room and the rest of the team.
"Happy birthday, Kuroko!" They all cheered, and Taiga walked over and pulled Tetsuya away from Mac and the others to ruffle his hair.
"Thank you," Tetsuya smiled.
Taiga laughed as Koganei and Kawahara both pulled at Tetsuya making him stumble slightly as he tried to stay balanced. He looked over at Mac and saw her smiling softly as she watched them while the others seemed to be waiting politely as they too were watching Tetsuya.
"Hey," Kiyoshi walked over to Mac and grinned down at her. "You okay?"
"My hand is fine now," Mac said knowing what he wanted to know. "I can play basketball again."
"Good," Kiyoshi smiled. "I heard you're the new captain for Too Academy. Congratulations."
"Thanks," Mac said with a shy smile. "I don't know if I'll do a good job."
"You will," Kiyoshi said. "You'll be fearsome opponents coming to Inter-High."
Mac shook her head.
"The food is ready soon," Himuro said and Mac blinked as she spotted him.
"Hey, didn't know you were coming," Mac said making him smile over at her.
"Taiga invited me, and I was coming with Atsushi anyway," Himuro said.
"I see," Mac said. "Good, I know Taiga likes having you around."
Himuro smiled a little and nodded.
"Muro-chin made the food?" Atsushi asked.
"Together with Taiga," Himuro said.
"Come on in," Taiga said looking over at them. "Find somewhere to sit and we'll find the food."
"Hey, Mac!" Takao grinned as he emerged among the group and Mac smiled.
"Hey, Takao," Mac said. "How are you?"
"Fine," Takao grinned. "I came to make sure Shin-chan behaved."
"Oi! It will be the other way around," Shintaro scoffed. "I don't need to be watched."
"You do," Takao said.
"Tetsu will be happy to see you," Mac said interrupting their bickering. "You are friends, aren't you?"
"Sure are," Takao grinned. "I will not let him beat me next time we play, though!"
Shintaro huffed and looked away.
Daiki was close by Mac but looking over at Tetsuya who was talking with Hyuga, Koganei and Riko.
The food was placed on the table and Mac waited until the others had taken their portion before she did the same and found a seat next to Seijuro and Daiki.
...
Tetsuya looked around at his friends all talking together and having fun. This day had been perfect, really it had. He saw Riko had gone over to Mac and the two were talking intently with each other and he saw the smile on Mac's face as she nodded to something Riko was saying.
"What do you want to bet that they're discussing a joint training session?" Koganei asked.
"I won't take that bet," Hyuga snorted. "Riko has been talking with Mac about it before this too."
"Do you think we'll survive?" Izuki asked.
Tetsuya bit back a smile when he noticed them looking at him like they expected an answer from him.
"No," he deadpanned just because he wanted to see their reactions.
"Eh?"
"We'll die!" They cried and Tetsuya chuckled.
"Who'll die?" Mac asked having suddenly appeared behind Tetsuya.
"No one," Tetsuya said.
"I see," she said. "You have fun?"
"Yes," Tetsuya said. "Thank you."
She smiled at him and nodded not needing to ask why he said thank you. She always seemed to understand what he meant without him saying anything.
"Mac-cchi! Midorima-cchi is mean to me!" Ryota whined.
"Don't provoke him, then," Mac sighed.
Tetsuya shook his head as Mac was pulled away by Ryota and pushed down between Shintaro and Atsushi.
"She can't go far from them before they pull her back," Izuki observed.
"Guess not," Tetsuya said.
...
Mahoutokoro
...
"Welcome to our school," Okashima Ainosuke greeted standing up behind the large desk that was centred in the large square room. "Headmaster Dumbledore."
"Thank you, Headmaster Okashima," Dumbledore smiled. "I'm so pleased that you agreed to this visit."
The Japanese man looked over Dumbledore with cool grey eyes before he nodded and waved the other teachers away with a hand.
"Come and take a seat," Okashima said. "We have lots to discuss, have we not?"
"Yes, we do," Dumbledore agreed walking over to the comfortable looking chair in front of a fireplace. "Let me first say that you have a very beautiful school here, headmaster Okashima."
"Thank you," Okashima nodded. "It has been our pride for many centuries now. The history of the school is something I still marvel at."
"I can understand how you feel," Dumbledore said. "I feel the same about Hogwarts."
They talked a little more before Okashima got up and Dumbledore followed him out of the office and to the large dining hall. The students were all dressed in white robes and were standing up waiting.
Dumbledore looked around at the students who were clearly standing in groups sorted by age and saw kids looking as young as 7 years old as well.
"Students," Okashima called out. "I would like to introduce the Headmaster from Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, Albus Dumbledore. He's here to take a look at how we run our school. So please give him a warm welcome."
Dumbledore smiled and nodded his head as he looked at the students and his clear blue eyes searched the faces for someone familiar.
"Thank you," Dumbledore said. "I look forward to getting to know more about this fine school!"
His instincts told him that he was closer to Mac than he had been in a long time. Though he was there for Sirius, something told him that he could find more than an escaped prisoner.
He couldn't wait.
