I Need a Hero
Summary: AU: Marinette is near the end of her rope with Lila and her lies, with no one on her side, except Chloé, even Adrien has been converted. What happens when an old friend from the past is transferred into the class? Lila and, entire class bashing. A new black cat is chosen. Marinette/Bastion. Kagami, Chloé, and Luka friendship. This is very AU, concerning heroes, characters, personalities, and love interests, there is mentions of suicide and even implied rape. You have been warned. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Hi everyone, this chapter is finally done, it was the duel that did me in. This chapter's changes include the duel, spelling and grammar, and other things that you'll see.
Chapter 5: A Fight and an Interview
"Everyone inside now!" was Bastion's command and everyone obeyed, running into the mansion. "Chloé, take everyone to my room, Marinette, come with me, I need to get to the emergency call room, and I need someone to watch my back in case another Akuma is flying around or Alya and Rossi manage to get in. Don't worry about us, we'll stay there, so don't come looking, we'll find you," said Bastion and everyone nodded. With Marinette next to him Bastion reached the emergency call room and alerted his father to the problem.
"Why did you have to do that anyway?" asked Marinette.
"Protocol for any danger, that way my father or mother can call up the school my brother is in and ensure that he's safe," said Bastion.
"Got it, Tikki, Spots On!"
"Plagg, Claws Out!" they both transformed and leapt out the window. They ran across the rooftops to find Lady Wifi and Volpina terrorizing Paris, hence the screaming as they were doing a lot more damage this time.
"Give us Marinette and Bastion!" demanded Lady Wifi.
"Not gonna happen," said Ladybug, landing in front of her.
"It wouldn't be very hero-like to give up innocent civilians to villains," said Felis Nero with a grin, landing next to Ladybug.

"That's not Cat Noir! Who is that?" asked Shadow Moth. "And why does Ladybug look different?"

"Who are you?" asked Volpina.
"The real holder of the Cat Miraculous, Felis Nero, Ladybug's real partner," he said, adapting a fighting stance, "Unlike Cat Noir, I'm all business when facing villains."
The akumatized girls rushed at them but they jumped to the side and Felis Nero used his staff to trip them both up, sending them tumbling to the ground. "Nice one Nero," said Ladybug, who had leapt back to avoid the attack.
"Thanks, let's try and wrap this up fast," said Nero.
"Got it, Lucky Charm!" a picture of Felis dropped into her hands and he was in a fighting position. She looked around but only Nero lit up and she tossed it to him. "Felis, look at this and figure it out, I'll distract these two," said Ladybug, she couldn't see any way to use it at all, so she decided to trust her partner, tossing the picture to him before using her yo-yo to trap them and then send them spinning.
"Got it," he said, studying the picture. He saw his white-coloured hand in black and with white kitty paws, his elbow, Volpina's face, her flute, and her necklace. He then nodded to himself; he knew what he had to do.
"Ladybug, send Volpina my way," he said.
"Got it," she sent her over with a spin, making her dizzy. Felis ran and shot out his fist towards her face. She gasped, dropping her guard but his punch stopped just before her face and she sighed in relief before her world was nothing but pain as he'd brought his right elbow up faster than she could see and smashed it into her nose, breaking it. She cried out in pain, dropping her flute, Felis stepped on it, breaking the illusions she'd placed throughout Paris before they'd gotten there. He then wrenched the fox tail necklace off her neck and broke it, releasing the Akuma.
"Ladybug, the Akuma!"
"I'm on it. No more evil doing for you little Akuma. Time to de-evilize. Gotcha. Bye-bye little butterfly," she said, now there was only Lady Wifi left.
"Time to pause!" said Wifi, trying to freeze Felis who backflipped out of the way. "Stay still!" she shouted as he kept on dodging. He flipped towards her to surprise her.
"Ladybug, your yo-yo!" he yelled, as he used his staff to push her away.
"On it," she said, using her yo-yo to grab the phone Wifi had in her hands.
"NO!" she lunged towards Ladybug, but Felis grabbed her from behind, holding her in place, while Ladybug broke the phone and released the Akuma.
"No more evil doing for you little Akuma. Time to de-evilize. Gotcha. Bye-bye little butterfly." Felis let go of Wifi and handed Ladybug the photo. "Miraculous Ladybug!" and the magic ladybugs made everything go back to normal, including Alya and Lila.
"Pound it!" said the partners with grins on their faces.
"What the?" asked Alya, staring in shock at the scene before her.

"But how? Instead of faltering, the new cat was perfect. Ladybug, Felis Nero, one day, I will take your Miraculous!" said Shadow Moth.

Adrien was furious, his Miraculous had been used to great effect to help Ladybug and she hadn't even missed him. This Felis Nero had done everything perfectly, but he was so stiff, no puns, he was violent, and Ladybug trusted him to use the Lucky Charm, she'd never done that with him as Cat Noir. How dare this new cat work with her. What next adults? She'd never use adults, after all she was his lady, his one and only. He knew how she thought. She was his, and only his, not some new cat. Plus, what was with the real ears, tail, and whiskers?

"I know that using violence isn't how you normally do things Ladybug but…"
"I understand Nero, the Akuma's are more dangerous these days, we have to protect Paris, and you're that type of guy. Don't worry, Paris will get used to it, besides, you're such a great guy, how could I not approve of what was an effective tactic?" said Ladybug. He grinned and her earrings beeped. "Uh, would you mind going over there to get Nadja Chamack, I need to retransform for an exclusive interview, and I need my partner by my side for it," said Ladybug as she zipped away.
Felis vaulted over to where Nadja Chamack was, "Excuse me ma'am, but Ladybug would like give you an exclusive interview right now if you have the time," he said.
"Oh of course, you are?"
"I am Felis Nero, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said.
"Likewise. Ok, let's get ready," said Nadja. The camera was soon ready to record, and Ladybug showed up.
"Ok, we're live in three, two, one," said the camera man.
"Don't be bemused, it's just the news, today I have Ladybug with me and a new cat hero, Felis Nero, here with me by the Eiffel Tower. This interview was requested by Ladybug herself, let's find out what she wants to share. Ok Ladybug, it's all you," said Nadja.
"Hi Nadja, hi everyone, thanks for agreeing to my spontaneous request but this couldn't go unsaid any longer. First of all, I'll address the fact that I have a new partner, meet Felis Nero, the one true holder of the Cat Miraculous, and how do we know this is true? His feline features of course, only the real bearer of the cat has real animal features and now that he's here, I have them as well, as will every Miraculous holder from now on," said Ladybug. Felis waved and grinned.
"Hi everyone," he said.
"That is fascinating. So, here's a question, after what happened with Miracle Queen, what's going to happen to Rena Rouge and Carapace and the other Miraculous users?"
"I will be speaking to Viperion and Ryuko privately but as for Carapace, Rena Rouge, Pegasus and King Monkey, you are no longer Miraculous holders," said Ladybug.
Alya who was still nearby let out a shriek, "What do you mean Ladybug?"
"Who is she? I know she was Lady Wifi but who is she as a civilian?" asked Felis Nero, pretending not to know.
"That's Alya Césaire," said Ladybug. "The other girl is Lila Rossi."
"Got it," he said.
"Anyway Felis, would you like to take Miss Césaire's question?" she simply asked, turning to her partner.
"Certainly, Ladybug. My partner here has informed me that she keeps an eye on everyone she chooses for a Miraculous and she's quite disappointed in the behavior of Rena Rouge, Carapace, King Monkey and Pegasus. Ladybug, would you like to take the rest of this answer since I'm new and don't know these heroes like you do?"
"Sure thing Nero. It's simple, their behavior disgusts me, they are bullying a girl who has done nothing to them, all because of her, Lila Rossi," said Ladybug, pointing right at Lila. The camera zoomed in on her, allowing the whole of Paris see her face. "I've been keeping an eye on the Ladyblog, and I'm disgusted at the lies I am hearing and reading about. I am not her best friend and I'm not saying that to protect her either. Unless I'm fighting an Akuma or am on patrol I'm not seen around Paris, and this girl here is from Italy and recently arrived in Paris if my facts are straight," she looked at Nero who brought out his staff and looked at the posts on the Ladyblog.
"Yes, your facts are straight, she first appeared when Volpina appeared, giving that she is Volpina. Then she left for no reason and reappeared in school just a few months ago. So doing the calculations with the months and factoring in the time you spend as Ladybug… Then factor in how you often have to dash away before you detransform it is quite impossible for you to have become best friends with a random civilian you didn't even know outside of Akuma attacks. It is equally impossible for you to trust her with your civilian identity as that's something you never do with anyone in the first place. So, we can conclude that she's lying," said Nero with a smile and Nadja was getting all of this camera, this was juicy.
"Exactly and I don't like liars," said Ladybug. "I never even told the old cat my identity and he really wanted to know. Alya Césaire your once reliable blog has become nothing but a tabloid about Miss Rossi here. It's filled with lies and unchecked facts. I would not trust it at all anymore. I advise no one to trust it. You call yourself a reporter but, due to you putting up videos that have lies, you obviously don't check your facts and that's what a real reporter, like Mrs Chamack here does." Nadja beamed at the compliment.
"Ladybug, may I ask another question?" she asked.
"Of course," she said.
"What's going to happen to Queen Bee? She betrayed you in the worst way possible after all," she asked.
"I'm going to speak to her in private because I can admit it, part of what happened with Queen Bee was my fault," said Ladybug, looking ashamed.
"Can you elaborate on that statement?"
"I didn't call on Queen Bee as often as I should have because of her self-serving attitude, and I basically snubbed her, but I should have tried to understand where she's coming from. So, I'll be having a nice, long talk with her and hopefully we can sort things out. Queen Bee, I apologize for what I did, and I'm not saying this because I'm a hero. I'm saying it because I'm genuinely sorry for not considering your feelings and I'll do my best to remember that; you taught me a valuable lesson. Thank you, Queen Bee."

In the Kaiba mansion Chloé was touched, she actually had tears in her eyes. Luka handed her a tissue and patted her on the shoulder.

"That was so touching Ladybug. Felis Nero, can I ask you some questions?" asked Nadja.
"Of course, you can ma'am," he said.
"Being a new hero, how do you feel? Do you think that you can measure up to the previous heroes and Ladybug?"
"Considering that four of those heroes are no longer getting a Miraculous and the old Cat was not very useful. I've been told that he was lazy, and a flirt, and a creepy stalker. Since I was given the Cat Miraculous instead of letting him keep it, I think my chances of measuring up are pretty good. I will do my best to be the best partner I can be for Ladybug, unlike with Cat Noir, it's an equal partnership," said Nero.
"That's right, it is. I already know I can trust you more than I could ever trust Cat Noir. You and I are on the same wavelength, that Akuma fight was one of the easiest ever thanks to you. It's nice to have an equal partner watching my back and whose back I can watch," said Ladybug.
He was about to nod when he heard the flap of two butterflies wings. He turned and saw two Akuma's heading for Alya and Lila…again. "No!" he shouted, whipping out his staff and extending it to crush the one Akuma against the leg of the Eiffel tower before saying, "Cataclysm!" and destroying the Akuma that was just about to infect Lila's necklace…again. She shrieked. Unlike Cat Noir, Felis Nero's cataclysm came from his left hand not his right. "That was close. I advise you to go in for some calming yoga or drink some hot chocolate, chocolate calms everyone down," he said.
Ladybugs and Nadja eyes were wide, but Ladybug gathered herself quickly, "And this is why he's my partner and as you can see, he's far more competent than the old cat. Hey Felis, those ears of yours came in handy," she said.
"Yeah, there's a real advantage to having the real hearing of a real cat," he said, handing the squished Akuma to her. She sighed and purified it, allowing it to revive and fly away.
"Well folks, I don't know about you but I for one feel safer with Felis Nero around. Felis Nero, can you explain your tactics in the battle?"
"Certainly, now, to everyone in Paris it looked like I was using violence but the way I see it, the Akuma's are getting stronger and require a stronger approach. They were attacking the city, so I used my knowledge of fighting to defend it. Using tactics like that isn't violence if done in defense of someone. If I hadn't, someone could have gotten hurt, or the battle might have taken longer. I apologize for setting a bad example to the young children of Paris though. Remember kids, violence isn't the answer. You should only fight for someone else's sake, not your own," he said.
"Wise words and thank you for clearing that up for us," said Nadja.
"It's not a problem and I'll try not to do it too often, or if I have to, it'll be where no one can see it, but only as a last resort thing, I don't like doing things like that," said Nero and Ladybug and Nadja smiled at him.
"Well, I'm afraid that that's all the time we have since Nero will soon de-transform. Thank you Mrs Chamack," said Ladybug.
"Yes, thank you very much ma'am," said Felis.
"Thank you, Ladybug, and Felis Nero, I'm sure that Paris thanks you as well. This is Nadja Chamack, signing off," she said, and the heroes dashed away, back to the Kaiba mansion where they explained to their friends that they had stayed in the emergency call room and then they'd stayed there to watch Ladybug and Felis Nero's interview.
"Sorry if we worried you," they said.
"We knew that you'd be fine, you were in the mansion after all," said Luka and everyone grinned.
"Thanks, ok, let's get back to school. I know were' late but we can always blame it on the Akuma attack," said Bastion with a grin and everyone laughed and nodded.

By the end of school everyone was talking about the new hero, Felis Nero and the interview and how there was going to be no more Rena Rouge, Carapace, Pegasus, and King Monkey. Lila was being given looks by everyone in the school who didn't believe her lies and laughed at, calling her out for them. Alya stood by her best friend, even though she was furious, how dare Ladybug do that to her number one fan!
Bastion was just enjoying the chaos when he received a message from Noah, "Hmm?" as he read the message, a smile forming on his face.
"What's wrong Bastion?" Marinette asked.
"Nothing's wrong, Noah just texted me to say that Felis Nero and Ladybug were awesome and that he liked the interview."
"That's nice of him," she said.
"Hey, I have an idea, do you mind if he comes with us to see Jagged Stone? It would be great fun for him, do you mind?" asked Bastion.
"I don't mind at all. He's met him before, right?"
"Yeah, he has, I'm sure Jagged would think it to be very rock and roll to have another fan with us," said Bastion.
"Do you want me to call him up and you call your mom or dad to check that it with them?
"Good idea," and they made their phone calls. Jagged was delighted with the idea and Noah was thrilled. They picked him up from school and went straight to Chloé's hotel where Jagged was staying. They had a lovely time with Jagged and Marinette was asked if she could design something for Fang for Jagged's next song, as it was about Fang, and he wanted Fang to look as rock 'n roll as possible. Marinette said yes and Jagged was thrilled, he even paid her for it this time, since the other requests were favors. Marinette was beat red, but she was happy to use the money to create Fang's outfit.

Adrien was angry, that stupid new cat was taking his place and he was also mad that Ladybug said all those things on TV, that she actually had an interview. Ladybug never did interviews, but she did this time and had humiliated Lila and Alya. They could be Akumatized! How could his lady do such a thing? "It must be that dumb new cat," he muttered, not realizing that he'd said that last sentence while walking past his father.
"What are you talking about Adrien?" Gabriel asked, did Adrien know something about the new cat?
"Oh, uh, father…I'm just upset about the fact that Ladybug has a new partner, there was nothing wrong with Cat Noir. I also can't believe that Ladybug said all those things about Lila, it could lead to her being Akumatized again. Alya too! I don't like what's happening and I believe that it's the new cat's fault. Ladybug would never do what she did normally. I'm worried," said Adrien, twisting the ring around his finger. He'd gotten a ring that looked like his old one, a replacement, just in case someone put it together, that he was Cat Noir.
"I see. I must admit that it is unusual for Ladybug to ask for an interview, but she did clear up a few things because of it. Remember Adrien, the famous will do anything to preserve their reputations. Speaking of famous, have you met Seto Kaiba's son yet?"
"Yes, he's in our class. I don't like him. He shot a cork into Lila's mouth and said he'd used her as a dummy to capture an Akuma for his father to study," said Adrien. Gabriel was very interested in hearing this.
"I see, well, don't make trouble for the Kaiba heir, I'm hoping to talk business with his father," he said, walking away.
"Yes father," Adrien muttered but he had a frown on his face. 'Stupid Bastion!' he thought. He went for a walk and came across Bastion, Marinette, and Bastion's little brother. The two boys were setting up their Duel Disks.
"Ready Noah?" asked Bastion.
"Ready bro," he said, he'd asked his brother if they could duel, and Bastion had obliged.
"Let's Duel!" they both said.

"Can I go first?" asked Noah.
"Sure thing," Bastion replied.
"I draw and I play my monster, Cryomancer of the Ice Barrier in attack mode." (CIB 1300/0) "I'll place one card face down and end my turn," he said.
"It's my move. I play Jain, Lightsworn Paladin in attack mode," he said. (J, LP 1800/1200) "Jain, attack Cryomancer! When Jain attacks a monster, she gains three hundred extra attack points during the damage step," (J, LP 1800/1200 – 2100/1200) Noah cried out at he lost life points.

"Nice move, but that's not the last you'll see of my monster. I activate my face down, Call of the Haunted! I can now bring back Cryomancer. When Call of the Haunted is destroyed Cryomancer is destroyed and when Cryomancer is destroyed my trap is destroyed," said Noah.
"Alright then, I'll place two cards facedown and since it's my End Phase Jain's other effect activates. I send the top two cards from my deck to my graveyard. Awesome. One of those cards was Wulf, Lightsworn Beast. His effect is that he can't be normal summoned, but he can be special summoned when he's sent from my deck to the graveyard. Come on out Wulf!" (W, LB 2100/300) "I'll end my turn," said Bastion.
"Ok, I draw. I play the spell Pot of Greed; I can now draw two more cards. Next, I'll summon Samurai of the Ice Barrier in attack mode!" (SIB 1800/1500) "He has an effect but I'm not going to use it. I'll play the spell, Double Summon, now I can normal summon once more this turn. I'll summon Strategist of the Ice Barrier is attack mode," he said. (SIB 1600/1600) "He has an effect, I can send one Ice Barrier monster from my hand to the graveyard, and I can draw one card," and he did just that. "Nice, I'll play the card I just drew, Monster Reborn, now I can bring back a monster from my grave to the field. There's only one monster there, come back in defense mode, Defender of the Ice Barrier." (DIB 200/1600)
"Good move Noah," Bastion complimented him.
"Thanks. When he's on the field, and I control another Ice Barrier monster, monsters that you control can't attack if their attack is greater than or equal to this card's defense," he said. "However, I'm not done yet, I'm going to give my Samurai a tune up with Cryomancer, to create the level six monster, Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier!" (D, TKIB 2000/1400) "He has an effect, I can target any number of other face-up cards I control and return those targets to the hand. This card then gains five hundred attack points for each card returned to my hand by this effect, until the end of this turn. I can only use this effect of Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier once per turn. So, I'll send my Strategist back to my hand," said Noah. (D, TKIB 2000/1400 – 2500/1400)
"Clever strategy," said Bastion and Marinette nodded, she knew the rules of the game, having watched Bastion play many times when they were kids. She didn't have a deck, but she did have a card that Bastion had given her, Honest. Adrien didn't see what was so clever, surely bringing out that many cards on the same turn was illegal. He continued to watch.
"Dewloren, attack Wulf!" ordered Noah. Bastion took the damage; he would save his face downs for later. (D, TKIB 2500/1400 – 2000/1400)

"I'll play one card facedown and end my turn," said Noah.
"Very well, I draw. I play one monster facedown in defense mode and I'll go right to my end phase, so Jain's effect activates, and I send two cards to the graveyard. That's all from me," said Bastion.
"That card has to be something like either Rinyan or Ryko," said Noah, drawing his card.
"Or it might just be a monster that has high defense," smiled Bastion.
"True, alright, I'll play the card I drew, Card of Sanctity, now we both draw until we each have six cards in our hands," said Noah as he drew until he had six. Bastion also drew and he smiled. "Next up is my spell card, Triangle of the Ice Barrier! I reveal three Ice Barrier monsters with different names in my hand. Then I can target one card you control, I can destroy that target, and if I do, I can Special Summon one Ice Barrier monster from my hand. I choose to destroy your facedown monster," said Noah. He was surprised to see it was Dawn Knight and not a Lightsworn like he'd expected.
"Thanks Noah, Dawn Knight's effect activates. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, I can send one Light monster from my Deck to the Graveyard. If this card is sent from my Deck to the Graveyard, I can target one Light monster in my Graveyard. Then I can place that target on the top of my Deck. I can only use one Dawn Knight effect per turn, and only once that turn. Dawn Knight's first effect activates, I chose Felis, Lightsworn Archer, since she was sent from my deck to the grave, I can special summon her to my field, in defense mode," said Bastion. "I may have helped you, but I can still Special Summon an Ice Barrier monster from my hand. I choose General Raiho of the Ice Barrier," said Noah. (GRIB 2100/2300) "Raiho, destroy Felis!"
"I activate one of my facedown cards, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow! I can activate it only when my opponent's monster declares an attack and negate that attack. I can then set it back facedown instead of sending it to the graveyard," said Bastion.
"Fine then, Dewloren will attack Jain," said Noah. Bastion look the damage, not concerned that his monster was destroyed. "I'll end my turn," said Noah.

"I'll begin mine, I draw, and I'll tribute Felis to destroy one monster you control, I'm choosing your Defender, say goodbye to him Noah," said Bastion.
"Rats you got past my monster," he said.
"I did and because I did, I can send the top three cards of my deck to my graveyard."
"Before you do anything else, I'll activate my facedown card, Poison of the Ol Man, a spell that allows me to choose one effect. I can gain twelve hundred life points, or I can inflict eight hundred damage to your life points. I choose option number two!" said Noah.
"Nice move," said Bastion as he took the damage.

"Thanks. Making you take damage is almost impossible, that's why this deck, despite being pretty cold, will burn you in the end," said Noah.
"I couldn't be prouder Noah, you really are a great duelist to think about how to defeat your opponents like that," said Bastion. Noah smiled. 'This duel is over," said Bastion. Noah's eyes widened. "I have over four Lightsworns with different names in my graveyard, I special summon Judgement Dragon!" (JD 3000/2600) "Next I'll pay one thousand life points to destroy every card on the field except Judgment," said Bastion.

"Now I'll Special Summon another Judgement Dragon to the field," said Bastion.
"You had two in your hand?"
"You gave them to me with Card of Sanctity," said Bastion.
"Aw man," Noah complained playfully with a smile on his face.
"Now both my Judgements, attack Noah directly! Finish this duel!"
"Argh!"

"Nice Duel Noah," said Bastion.
"Yeah, I was. I was clos that time," said Noah.
"You were, I'm proud of you," said Bastion and they hugged.
Adrien didn't get it, Noah had lost, and he wasn't upset, "why is not upset at loosing so badly?" he asked. Marinette heard him and looked at him.
"Because he's a good sport, that's why. Bastion's also only very rarely been defeated by him. Bastion and Noah are both really good duelists, but Bastion is stronger. IT's just a fun game for them, there's no need for Noah to get upset, he tried his hardest and that's what matters," she said and walked over to the boys. They smiled at her before continuing to walk her home.
Adrien watched, then he became determined. He ran to the nearest card shop and bought a deck and a duel disk. He was going to take Bastion Kaiba down! He only realized that Marinette hadn't stuttered in his presence even once much later.

In the Kaiba Corp building Seto Kaiba was staring down at the Akuma that Bastion had captured that morning. He'd been conducting tests on it all day. "This thing is evil. By using it to infect an object that belongs to someone Shadow Moth is able use the negative emotions of the infected person to turn that person into a monster. The question is, how do I use science to turn the tables and prevent the takeover of the person? What am I missing?" he asked himself after going over what he knew. He knew that the Akuma's were butterflies turned evil and that Ladybug purified them after each battle, or they were sometimes destroyed in another way. "Mainly the cat's Cataclysm," Kaiba muttered. He felt a brief surge of pride at the thought that his son was now the one wielding the Cat Miraculous and helping stop Shadow Moth.
