Early the next day, Ragora walked into Professor Ozpin's.
He looked at her. "Ah, Miss Cinarum. How may I help you?"
"I may need your help with my partner, Professor. She's working herself to the bone on an investigation and my teammates and Cinder's couldn't get her to take a break from it. If I can get her into an empty room, would you be willing to help me talk some sense into her?" The young mage asked.
He nodded. "I will do what I can to help you."
She nodded with a small smile. "Thank you, Professor." She said then left for the ballroom.
Team CMSN and Team SLVR, minus Lapis, were in the ballroom setting up the dance when Team SSSN walked in.
"Looking good in here so far." Sun said.
"Thanks, man." Simin said.
"...So, is Lapis still being the queen of stubbornness?" He asked.
"Yeah. We don't know what else to do to make her come to the dance." Cinder said.
"I have a plan for that. Trust me. She'll be at the dance tomorrow night." Ragora said then left the room.
Lapis sat at a computer in the library when she heard a high frequency sound that irritated her a bit before it stopped. She looked around with a glare. "I know someone isn't stupid enough to use a dog whistle on me..." She hissed then resumed typing on the keyboard. She heard the ringing again briefly before it stopped again, making her annoyance grow. It sounded again for a couple seconds before she slammed her fists on the table with a grunt before she followed the sound to its source...and found out it was her own partner with the dog whistle.
"What are you-?" The Faunus started.
"We need to talk." Ragora said then dragged Lapis away.
In an empty classroom, Lapis looked at her hat wearing friend. "Ragora, just save your breath if you're gonna tell me to stop."
"I'm not. I'm asking you to slow down." She said.
"We don't have the luxury to slow down."
"Not a luxury; a necessity."
"Stopping Ruby, Blake, and Yang is the necessity."
"And we will." Ragora assured her as a door opened and in walked their headmaster.
The silver eyed girl glared at the violet eyed girl. "You seriously went to Ozpin?!"
"She did. Ragora mentioned you're obsessing over an investigation. I haven't pressed for further details...yet, but I will need to know exactly what it is you're investigating, Miss Lazuli." Oz said.
"It's nothing to worry yourself about, Professor." Lapis said without turning her eyes from Ragora. "You guys are absolutely ridiculous! Am I the only one taking this threat seriously?!"
"Of course you aren't." Ragora said.
"I'm not the type of person who backs down, Ragora! This isn't just a search for answers, so I don't intend to-!"
"I told you that I'm not telling you to stop! We're not! But you're letting this whole investigation control you, Lapis! We will find the answers we need, Lapis. But what good is it if we destroy ourselves in the process?"
Lapis glared at her. "You don't understand! I'm the Defender of the Four Kingdoms! I'm the only one who can do this!"
"No, you don't understand! If a member of the Black Rose, the White Fang, the Burning Suns or even their respective leaders walked into this room, what would you do?!"
"I'd fight them!"
"You'd lose!" Ragora said.
"I can stop them!" Lapis snapped but couldn't push Ragora against the wall.
"How would you be able to stop them when you can't even stop me?!" Ragora asked then pushed Lapis against the desk.
Lapis started to growl, only to gasp as she received a hug from her teammate. "You don't have to stop..." She said then pulled back. "Just please...rest. Not just for you but for the people who care about you." She said then started walking up the stairs. "And if you come tomorrow night, I'll save you a dance." She added with a small grin then left the room.
Ozpin, who had watched the two argue, walked to his star pupil and looked at the Faunus. "Lapis, no one can singlehandedly stop all crime in a Kingdom, let alone the world. Admirable your determination may be to bring these criminals to justice, it isn't worth losing your soul over. My advice would be for you to slow down your investigation, hone your skills and master your technique. After graduating, you can take the fight to them if you still desire to." He said then left the room.
Lapis took a deep breath then left the room.
At dinner that evening, Lapis looked at her friends. "I'm so sorry I worried you guys."
"Don't be." Cinder said.
"We're just glad Ragora and Oz got through that helmet to get you to come to your senses." Simin teased.
Lapis rolled her eyes at her leader.
"Just don't worry us like that again." Vella said.
Lapis nodded.
Neo typed something on her Scroll then tapped the 'Speak' icon. "Hey, how did Miltia miss you in class the other day?" The female voice asked.
Lapis looked around then looked at her friends. "I guess you could say I have a secret weapon."
"What does that mean?" Emerald asked.
"Well, Ragora has her familiar, you have your hallucinations. My Semblance...is Dominance. Any person who looks me in the eye while mine change through the colors of the rainbow follows through with whatever I say. My grandmother taught me how to use it after my mother died."
Her friends were surprised but Lapis nodded. "I don't use it often unless I feel the need, or I'm overwhelmed in a fight."
They nodded back.
"So, any songs planned tomorrow night?" Mercury asked.
"Only one and I think it'll be perfect."
"We can't wait to hear it." Ragora said then the eight kept eating and talking.
