The desert sand was reflecting the sun's heat, making it hot, even in the shade. Aniya was leading the Octoling to the train, and it was farther away than he had expected. The Octoling had noticed a small Salmonoid following Aniya as well, and decided it would be best to ask questions on the train, where Aniya would actually talk to him. Inside the train, Aniya took a seat next to a Jellyfish sitting sideways on the seat. Her pet Salmon hopped onto the seat next to her and the Octoling sat in between her and her pet.

"Okay, you have a name right? Well, what is it?" Aniya asked.

"I do not know. Everything before I met you is coming up as non-existent." The Octoling stated. "What's up with your pet…fish?"

"Oh, you mean Lil' Buddy! I found him injured on my way to the Splatville train, so I took him back home and nursed him back to health with help from my dad."

"Splat…ville?"

"Yeah, that's where this train is taking us. And some of those people are getting off on stops before and after. It's…not like it just goes straight to Splatville or anything." She laughed nervously.

The Octoling looked out the window and saw some sort of skyscraper in the distance. It was white, so it stood out against the desert sand's orangish hue.

"Hey, how about I give you a name?" Aniya suggested.

"Um…sure."

"Octo commando?" She tried. "Hm…just Commando? Greeny? Commander? Tentacle head?"

"I like Commander. It feels like it fits…somehow."

"Great, then Commander it is! I'm Aniya; it's nice to meet you." She offered her hand in greeting.

Commander was hesitant, but shook her hand anyways. "Where are we right now?"

Aniya looked at her hand. "The Splatlands, why?"

"Does everywhere start with "splat'?"

"Nah, just the Splatlands. Splatville is only called that because it's in the center of the Splatlands."

"So what is Splatville actually called?"

"The city of Chaos. In memory of the Splatocalypse."

"The Splatocalypse? What is that?"

"Oh, just Inkopolis' final Splatfest, Chaos versus Order. I liked Pearl more so I chose Chaos."

"What's a-"Commander stopped. Inkopolis…Inkopolis…Why does that name sound so familiar to me? Am I from this Inkopolis place, or is it something else?

"Commander, are you alright?" Aniya interrupted his thoughts.

"Oh, yes, yes. I am very much okay. As I was saying, what's a Splatfest?"

"It's like a themed Turf war. You pick the team with the side you like most and you fight the opposite side. It's easy as cake, really."

"What-what's a…Turf war?"

Everybody on the train gasped at him. A humanoid fish standing nearby dropped his drink on the floor out of shock.

"Only THE most common sport to ever exist!" Aniya shouted. "What rock have you been living in?!"

"Aniya, I have told you before, everything that happened before I met you is nothing!" Commander said. Everyone on the train awed at him. "But not in that kind of manner, creatures."

Aniya sighed. "True, I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you. Turf wars are a 4-on-4 team battle match with randomly generated colors and teams. You can choose your weapon and gear before and after a match. Judd judges how much ground is turfed by the end of the round and whatever team has the most floor covered, wins."

Commander shrugged. "Sounds easy enough."

Aniya laughed at him. "Sure, real easy. If you're not dealing with," she held up a fist, "Squidbaggers, annoying 'This way'aholics, snipers, the Yellow Jackets, Clam Blitz, Booyah spammers, Squid parties, Hydra Splatlings, I can on all day." Every time she mentioned something, she had held up a finger, all the way to the point where she almost had two full hands in the air.

"Who is this…Judd person? His name sounds familiar."

"Judd is the cat who judges the Turf wars. He may look like he's wearing clothes, but he's not it's just a pattern on his fur. There's also another cat, called Lil' Judd. I think he might be like, Judd's son or something."

The train screeched to a stop. Most of the people on the train were Inklings and Octolings, and they started leaving the train. Aniya let Lil' Buddy hop onto her head and left her seat.

"Come on, Commander. We're here."
