Chapter 18: Taken

Ginny, Sirius, and the children just got out of Remus' car (Remus joined them at their shopping) at the orphanage when they saw it.

The Dark Mark, floating above the house.

"No!" called Ginny rushing in.

"Ginny!" called Sirius and Remus, rushing after her.

"What is that thing?" asked Michael.

"It's the mark of lord Voldemort, it usually means that someone was killed," said Lizzy quietly.

"What should we do?" asked Michael.

"I don't know, wait for Ginny to come back out?" asked Lizzy.

"We should go in," said Alex, pulling out his wand, Lizzy and Michael did the same and followed him in.

Inside everything was broken and burned.

Chairs were in pieces, sofas were burning, windows were shuttered.

The kids looked wide eyed around.

"They are gone," said Sirius.

"Where are the kids?" asked Remus.

"In the basement, they should be there, there is an alarm when someone brake through the wards. They know the secret passages to the basement." Said Ginny.

Lizzy, Alex, and Michael rushed to the basement with Sirius and Remus on their heels, while Ginny was searching in the rooms.

In the basement they found Luna with the children.

"Tom sent me here, but there are two children missing, JJ and Leo." Mumbled Luna as Sirius hugged her.

"And Tom? Where is he?" asked Remus.

"He never showed here," said Luna.

"We need to get help," said Remus.

"Allies, not ministry people," said Luna.

"Agreed." Said Remus, sending his Patronus to summoned Snape, Blaise, Draco and the Weasleys that were supportive of Tom and Ginny.

They were there in less than ten minutes.

"Where is Ginny?" asked Arthur as Snape and the others were checking the children for injuries.

"Up here!" called Ginny.

Lizzy rushed to her side.

Tom was on the ground, Ginny by his side.

"Is he…" her voice trailed off.

"No, but I don't know what's wrong with him. Is the children o.k.?"

"JJ and Leo are missing but the others seemed to be o.k."

Ginny was sobbing.

JJ was almost three years old, but Leo was only two.

Snape showed up in the room and rushed to Tom's side. He lifted an eyelid, "he was hit with some spell of paralysis, they didn't want him dead." Said Snape.

"Just out of their way," said Ginny, sobbing.

"We will get your little one back," promised Snape as he trying some spells to wake Tom up.

"But what happened to Leo?" asked Lizzy.

"What his last name?" asked Snape.

"Macnair." Said Lizzy.

"Avery and Macnair?" asked Snape.

"What about me?" asked Alex.

"You weren't here?" asked Snape.

"No, Hogwarts shopping," said Alex.

"You think they are after Death Eaters' children?" asked Ginny.

"If they are, why did they take JJ?" asked Lizzy.

Snape gave Ginny a look.

Just then Tom gasped and sat up.

"JJ and Leo," said Tom.

"They were taken, we will get them back," said Ginny, stroking his head.

He kissed her softly and stood up.

"They wanted Death Eaters' children," said Tom.

"But why take JJ?" asked Lizzy again.

"It's a long story, darling, we will talk about it later," said Tom, kissing the top of her head.

"Alright. How do we get them back?" asked Lizzy.

"First we will start with who was here," said Snape and they went downstairs to get to work.

After fixing the house and sending the kids to some much needed nap, the adults with the addition of Alex and Lizzy sat to work on the list of the Death Eaters that were at the house and what properties they had that they could use as HQ.

"No, the ministry impound those houses, and that one as well," said Arthur, pointing on a few houses on the list.

"That leave us with six houses, it still too many," said Ginny.

"We will figure it out," said Tom softly, kissing her temple.

At the time, JJ and Leo were locked up in a room, curled together on the floor behind the bed.

JJ was stroking the younger boy, wishing her parents will found them soon.

"Where are you going, Alex?" asked Ginny as the thirteen years old boy stood up.

"Out. I need to think, to have some air," said Alex.

"Not alone," protested Ginny.

"I will be fine, I am a Ravenclaw after all," he smiled and went out of the house.

Lizzy stood up.

"No. You are staying here," said Tom.

"Why?" asked Lizzy.

"Because I said so," said Tom.

"Alex is younger than me," she protested.

"Doesn't matter, I said no." said Tom.

"But-"

"No, Lizzy. I won't risk any of the children,"

"And Alex?"

"Alex is something else,"

"WHY? Because he is a boy?!"

"No! Because he is well practiced with magic, beyond his young age, and he needs the occasional solitude. Too many people making him feel bad," said Tom.

"I know that, he doesn't mind me." said Lizzy.

Tom looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Don't look at me like that. We are friends, just friends." Said Lizzy.

"Alright, but you are still staying in here," said Tom.

"Fine." she growled.

Alex was standing across the street when she showed up.

"Hello Avery," said Bellatrix.

"Took you long enough," said Alex coldly.

"Let's go then," said Bellatrix and grabbed his arm.

The moment they apparated Ginny looked out the window just in time to see them gone.

"No!" called Ginny rushing outside when the others right behind her.

"What is it, darling?" asked Tom stroking her arm.

"Alex. Bellatrix was here, she took him," said Ginny, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"You think he went out to wait for her?" asked Sirius.

"Not in the way you think. He probably let himself be taken, this way he can get the little ones back," said Tom.

"But he is thirteen!" protested George.

"He is a lot like me with magic, very natural, very intuitive, and Tom was teaching him over the summers," said Ginny.

"Wandless magic?" asked Remus.

"That too," said Tom.

"But he can't take on a bunch of Death Eaters on his own! We need to find them!" called Lizzy with tears in her eyes.

"And we will, darling, we will." Said Tom, hugging the young girl to his chest.
