disclamation: I do not own the 'Digimon' anime. I also do not own Walt Disney's lovely classic 'Sleeping Beauty'. the only part of this fanfiction that I truly own is the fanfiction, itself.
Meanwhile at King Susumu's and Queen Yuuko's palace, their majesties are anxiously awaiting the return of their long lost daughter since the night of the day she was born who is scheduled for her return today just past sunset.
King Susumu and Queen Yuuko are trying to busy themselves by talking to their friend, Queen Nancy, about their worries for their daughter.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Anything yet, dear?
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: No sign of her, yet, my queen.
Queen Nancy, however, only decides to revel in the engagement feast which has been prepared for the union between their two children.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Of course, she's not here yet. It's still a good half hour 'till sunset.
Queen Nancy suddenly notices that she is not exactly getting through to her friends.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): Oh, come on, you two, cheer up. The battle's finally over, and your girl's as good as here.
Queen Yuuko approaches King Susumu's and her friend to try to talk some sense into the woman…
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: I'm sorry, Nancy, but after sixteen long years of worrying, never knowing…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: The past. All in the past.
But, Queen Nancy is clearly far too excited about their kingdoms being joint together as one to care about what could go wrong. Upon clapping her hands together, Nancy's servant comes out to the dining hall to get them ready for a toast celebration.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): Tonight, we toast to the future, with something I've been saving for sixteen years.
She pours a few drops into each of the goblets present for her and her friends.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): Here, my friends.
She hands each of them one of the goblets.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): To the future, my lifelong allies.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Right, Natsuko.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: To the future.
They all chuckle up a good laugh about it, as Nancy's servant drinks a little bit of it from the goblet he poured the drink into earlier. Then, King Susumu and the two queens sang a little song for their toast and finally drank to one another's health as well as to their children's future.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: This is such an excellent vintage. Such a beautiful wine.
The servant also drinks to his majesties' health, but this turns out to be mistake as he starts to already get a little drunk.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): And, now another toast… this time to the new home.
King Susumu and Queen Yuuko are quite shocked by this toast.
King Susumu and Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: New home?
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Oh, come on, children will always eventually need a nest of their own, won't they? A place to raise their little brood, right?
Her servant pours more wine for himself.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Well, I suppose.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: In time, though.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Of course, to the home.
King Susumu and the two queens start once again with their little song about their toasts. Then, the servant starts to play his ukulele, but a string on it breaks as soon as Natsuko calls him up once again.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): The plans.
She pointed to her friends, signaling for her servant to bring them the plans for a honeymoon castle that their children can eventually move into. The servant showed Susumu and Yuuko the plans for their children's honeymoon palace, but he was just a little bit drunk when he showed them the plans.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Well, what do you think? Nothing too elaborate, and don't be afraid to be honest. Twelve bedrooms, dining hall; it's really more of a honeymoon cottage than an actual palace.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: You-you mean to us that you're building their honeymoon home, already?
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Oh, sweet Yuuko. I'm not building it already, I've built it already.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: It's already finished?
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Yes, yes. And the lovebirds can move right in tomorrow.
King Susumu and Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Tomorrow?!
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: But-but, Natsuko, they aren't even married, yet.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: We take care of that tonight. To the wedding.
She starts to pour a glass for her friend, Queen Yuuko, first, but the woman rejects the toast this time.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Now, hold on, Nancy. We haven't even seen our daughter, yet, and you're taking her away from us.
None of them notice, but as the wine is accidentally poured supposedly onto the floor, the servant grabs it instead, taking it inside of his own ukulele, all so that he can get even more drunk by the minute.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: You two are getting my T.K., though, aren't you?
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Yes, but…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: We want to see our grandchildren, don't we?
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Of course, but…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Well, there's no time to lose. We are after all getting on in years.
Queen Nancy raises her glass to her toast to try again.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: To the wedding.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Now, be reasonable, Natsuko. After all, Kari knows nothing about all this.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Well…
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Well, it may come as quite a shock.
Nancy nearly chokes on her wine.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Shock?! My T.K., a shock?! What's wrong with my T.K.?
King Susumu suddenly sees that it was most likely the wrong thing to do in calling the betrothal itself a shock. Queen Yuuko takes over for her husband in attempting to reason with Nancy.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Nothing is wrong with T.K.. Susumu only meant that…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Why doesn't your daughter like my son?
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Now, now…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: I'm not so sure that my son likes your daughter.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Now, just a minute, that's going too far, my fair Queen Natsuko.
Queen Nancy just continues to insult them.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: I'm not so sure that my grandchildren want to have you two as their grandparents.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Why you pompous, unreasonable, blustering old she-witch.
Queen Nancy reaches for the knife, but instead grabs a grilled fish.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Average? Pompous? En'guarde, sir and madame.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Now, see here, I warn you, Natsuko, this means war.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Forward for honor, for country, for…
Then, Queen Nancy realizes she is holding a fish instead of a knife, and realizes how silly she is being. King Susumu and the two queens realize how silly they are all being and laugh it off.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: What's this all about, anyway?
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Nothing, Nancy. Absolutely nothing.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Our children are bound to fall in love with each other.
Now, it is King Susumu and Queen Yuuko who are making the toast.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: Oh, exactly, and as for our grandchildren, Yuuko and I shall have the royal woodcarvers start work on the playroom tomorrow.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Splendid. King-sized, of course.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: Certainly.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: To the wood carver's guild.
They hear no ukulele music in the background, however. King Susumu and the two queens look for Natsuko's servant, only to find him under the table and completely drunk. He was snoring and the rest of the strings broke.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Maybe, we should lay off the wine for now.
Queen Yuuko Yagami/Kamiya: I concur.
King Susumu Yagami/Kamiya: You read my mind, my queens.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Wouldn't wanna end up as drunk as he now is.
Suddenly, trumpets sound in the distance.
Elecmon: His royal highness, Prince Takeru Takaishi, known to his friends as Prince T.K..
Queen Nancy suddenly grows elated at her son returning from his day of travelling in the forest.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: T.K.?
T.K. comes flying in on his creature friend, Pegasusmon.
Queen Nancy is finally outside to welcome her son home.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: T.K.! T.K.!
But, Pegasusmon flies just past them. The horse-like creature does, however, land gracefully this time now that he is returning to his human friend's home from a day of travelling.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Hurry, my son, hurry. Change into something suitable. Can't meet your future bride looking like that.
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: But, I have met her, mother.
Queen Nancy is confused by this. She had been so certain that this proposal to King Susumu's and Queen Yuuko's daughter, Princess Hikari Yagami/Kamiya who is better known as Princess Kari, is to be the first time he will have ever met the girl, but she could have been wrong.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: You have? Where?
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: Once upon a dream.
Then as though things cannot get any more bizarre about the prince, he begins to vocalize to a melody as though he has been placed under a spell of some sort. Then, he pulls his mother into a dance as he vocalizes to the melody.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: No, no, T.K., no. Stop this foolishness and let me go.
T.K. does as his mother says and lets her out of his grasp only for her to ask…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Now, my son, what's all this dream nonsense you're talking about all of a sudden?
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: Oh, it wasn't a dream, mom. I really did meet the lovely young lady.
Whether it has happened by accident or coincidence, Queen Nancy does not care, though. She is just elated to finally know that her son has finally met…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Oh, Princess Hikari, or rather Princess Kari? Good heavens, we must immediately tell Susumu and Yuuko.
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: I didn't say it was Kari.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: You most certainly did…
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: I said that I met the girl I was going to marry. I don't know who she was, a-a-a peasant girl, I suppose.
Nancy grows quite shell-shocked at the news that her son, Prince T.K., wants to marry a complete stranger, and a peasant girl, at that.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: A peasant girl? You're going to marry a_
Nancy stops being shell-shocked just long enough to at least ask her son…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Why, T.K., you're joking, aren't you?
T.K. just shakes his head 'no' at his mother. Nancy tries to ask Pegasusmon next.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): Isn't he?
Pegasusmon shakes his own head and says…
Pegasmon/Pegasusmon: Nope, he's serious about the peasant girl.
Nancy starts to tear up.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: No, you can't do this to me. You're going to give up the gold, the kingdom, for some-some nobody? I won't allow it. You're a prince, and you're going to marry a princess.
Nancy is just about ready to throw her tiara onto the ground over her son's sudden rebellion.
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: Now, mother, you're living in the past. This is the twenty-first century, not the eighteenth. Nowadays…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Nowadays, I'm still the queen of this kingdom. And I expect you to come to your senses.
But, T.K. just is not hearing a word from his mother's lips.
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: And marry the girl I love.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Exactly.
Takeru 'T.K.' Takaishi: Goodbye, mama.
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi: Goodbye, son. And just marry the girl you _ No, no! No! No, T.K.! Stop, come back! Close the gates up! Guards, please, close the gates up!
But, T.K. and Pegasusmon escape very easily since Pegasusmon can fly. The two of them fly off into the forest, leaving Nancy alone and dejected, sobbing up a monsoon and wondering…
Queen Natsuko 'Nancy' Takaishi (continued): How will I ever tell Susumu and Yuuko?
