Reminded of why she had been concerned the past week Ororo couldn't help showing the worry that had gotten to her. "What's wrong Mommy?" She looked to the small voice seeing her oldest daughter Jessica in front of her and smiled as best she could. "It's nothing." She responded, "Oh… Can I help?" She asked curiously, Ororo was enlightened by her daughter's question, she was a very sweet girl who had already amazed her parents in many ways, even though she was only five years old. "I don't think so right now, but thank you very much for the thought." The child looked saddened that she couldn't help her Mom out of whatever she was handling at the moment, so she got an idea.
Ororo hadn't talked to Logan about it yet, and it was biting away at her harder now, she knew she should've asked him about it earlier, she didn't want to talk to him about it now, the kids were playing with him out in the living room as they hadn't gotten to in the past week, and she didn't want to interrupt their time together. She sat down on the bed thinking about it. "Ro?" She heard her nickname called, looking up she saw her mate standing there concerned. "Are you ok?" He asked, she was silent for a moment. "Logan, I must speak to you about something." He understood pulling up a stool that was in the corner of the room and sitting on it to pay more attention to her. "Yes?" He asked waiting for her to continue. She stayed silent for the next moment. "Are you happy here, with me and our kids?"
He was shocked by the question. "Ro, why would you ask that? You know you're the best thing that's ever happened to me." She smiled at him appreciatively. "And you know how much I love you." "How much?" She asked, "Hmm?" "How much do you love me and the children?" "I would do anything for you." She looked happy, yet sad. "Ro, what's wrong?" "Why did you leave us a week ago?"
They looked at each other for another moment, he got up leaving the room. This worried her, was their story ending? She prayed it wasn't, it would be too breaking for her to lose him, or the children, and she wouldn't want them to have to go through that either. They'd become so intertwined with each other over the years, and with them, even before when they were just friends. She tried to not let that thought enter her mind.
Hearing his footsteps enter the room again she looked up. There he was in front of her sitting in the same spot as before. "I guess I should've been a little more specific on my note huh." He said apologetically, then gently grasped her hand pulling it to himself and put something in it. She looked down to her hands wondering what he was doing, he looked up at her expectantly. She opened her hands revealing a precious jewel, her eyes widened as shock set in.
It was one of the most beautiful things she'd ever seen, it was as big as her thumb, and had a golden elegant chain connected to it. Her face lit up as she looked back up to him. "You… got this for me?" "Do you like it?" "It is very beautiful." "I had to go down to West Virginia to get it." She looked at him puzzled. "You had to what?!" "I'm sorry… I should've told you where I was going and how long it would take." "How long of a drive was it?" "About a day and a half goin one way." She looked at him a little unsure of his story. "On my way back it was pretty slow." He huffed out disappointed that he couldn't get back sooner. "I'm so sorry Ro… if that ever happens again I'll tell you about it, I promise." She smiled at him happily, then hugged him, so thankful that her thoughts regarding him were wrong.
"I thought you had gone on one of your journeys searching for your history again." He pulled away giving her a strange look. "I've looked for it so long. I may not find anything." He said a little disappointment in his voice. "If I don't, I have you, and the children, and that's all I need anyway." She smiled at him satisfied peacefully. "Speaking of the kids, I thought you were busy playing with them." He smiled. "Jessie told me that you weren't having the best time in here, so here I am." She gave him a tender smile followed by a kiss, a moment later they touched foreheads, looking at each other happily. "I suppose I should trust you more." "I suppose…" He said back peacefully.
"AAH-HOUW! DADDY!" A voice yelled from the other room, attracting the attention of both parents. They jumped up and ran out to the living room concerned at the voice of their son. He ran up to them crying. "Jessie hit mehehe!" He cried to his parents, they looked puzzled to their oldest daughter. "You were bonking me with that thingy." Jessie retaliated looking slightly mad at her little brother. The two looked at each other happy that it wasn't something too serious, and that their children had them, and would always have them no matter what happened.
