It was already night in the city of Ali, the small garrison was resting or standing guard on the wall. Through the streets several Andean soldiers were advancing under the cover of night and carrying hidden daggers, their objective was the barracks.
Some imperial soldiers followed them, they could be identified since they carried crossbows, whose power of fire could eliminate those who were decently protected. these imperials, thanks to their precision, eliminated any gali soldier who patrolled the streets.
The Andeans were thus able to enter where the Gali soldiers slept, starting to cut their throats after covering their mouths, the poor devils could only open their eyes when they felt how the jugular was sliced without being able to scream or make any noise. After that, the Imperials were in charge of hunting with their crossbows those who were on the wall.
Thus the city was left without soldiers or guards to defend itself.
Saskia, upon learning of the success, went out to the square of the slave district along with her escort, starting to hit two pans, waking up all the slaves.
"The time has come!" is all she said before she started marching towards the palace with her escort.
Understanding that the plan had worked, the slaves took the weapons that the Imperials had given them and began to follow her.
As they marched, more and more slaves joined in, not only the Andean slaves, but also several others who had just learned of this revolt in the hope that if they succeeded they would be free.
As they were entering the privileged district, the Andean and Imperial soldiers began to join them. About 2000 were marching.
The palace guards saw the mob approaching, one of them stood in front of them.
"What do you think you slaves are doing? ." With an overbearing tone. "Do you think you'll have a chance to rebel, the soldiers are going to slaughter you!"
Saskia, signaling one of Zorzal's men to bring her a bag, pulled out the head of the captain of the city guard, throwing it at the guard.
"Shit!" The guard was running back to the palace. "We're under attack! Defend the palace!" he shouted until a crossbow bolt pierced one of his lungs, causing him to fall to the ground mortally wounded.
"Now!" Saskia exclaimed pointing to the palace.- "It's time to take back what's ours!"
Everyone gave a war cry and began to charge at the guards, overwhelming them instantly.
There was no mercy against those in the palace. Soldiers, nobles or servants, none were spared from the fury of the slaves.
After the fall of the palace, the horde of slaves began to hurl themselves against their former masters in the residential district.
There was no mercy, the Andeans massacred the Parisians who thought they were under attack by the empire and not by their slaves, who upon seeing them arrive thought they were going to join the war effort so they were caught completely off guard and had no chance to organize themselves and went into chaos.
Saskia was not interested in what happened to the civilians, especially for all that they put her and her loved ones through. Although she could have asked the legionnaires to stop them she didn't: she was going to pay them back in kind.

In the city of Les things were getting more and more complicated: hunger and disease were beginning to plague the city after two months of siege to the point that the gali, in a desperate attempt to buy time, expelled the civilians from the city, obviously the poorest, to save food and hopefully get the Imperials to take care of them. Zorzal did not allow them to pass. Although such a large number of slaves would have been good for the future, the number of people coming to him was similar to that of his army and he would have to feed them. So the prince decided to return them to the city, but Harngeil did not allow them to return. About 15,000 civilians would die of hunger and cold before the siege ended.
Now that the situation had changed, it was the imperial soldiers who ate all kinds of meat in full view of the gali, something the prince himself did, the experience in Tania was something he could never forget.
One evening, when the sun was setting, anyone who was in an elevated position could see several thousand approaching from all directions. It was a beautiful thing for the galis trapped in the city, as huge lines of people approached where they were to help them in this battle that would decide the fate of the north.
There was no time to prepare anything, with any luck Les would survive another week, nor was there any way to coordinate any attack from inside and outside. Both sides knew that this huge force were not soldiers, but simple recruits with no battle experience and hardly any training. That became very clear when the first group to arrive, composed of 30,000, launched an attack which was easily repelled by the archers.
This gave more peace of mind to the Imperials, the Gali would have to organize themselves as best they could in a very short time.

In the city of Ruthenia things were also getting hot. The army of the former king Juzeft had already reached the outskirts of the city and was preparing a camp, after that they started with the construction of the siege weapons.
Servius was watching them from the wall, he was not going to allow the construction of those machines, so he took the two princesses with him and then sounded a war horn for all the enemies to direct their attention.
"What's going on over there?"
"Are they going to try to attack us?"
"Wait a minute... Aren't those the princesses! Call Lord Juzeft now!"
"Once everyone was looking where Servius wanted, he began to speak very loudly for all the gali to hear."
"Barbarians! You who committed the stupidity of defying the empire will meet your fate now." Giving a signal, the catapults from behind the walls began to fire towards the front of the camp, those projectiles were the heads of the defenders and their inhabitants, although of course, from the impact only unrecognizable pulp remained, they could only identify that they were human by seeing the teeth that were distributed in those masses of amorphous flesh."
"Those damn dogs!" The former king growled in fury, intending to personally go and behead him. but now he was in terror at the sight of his daughters beside him. a cold sweat ran down his forehead.
"That is the fate that awaits every barbarian who dares to go against the greatness of the empire!..." Servius continued speaking. "And this will be the fate of all your women!"
Upon saying this, several soldiers began to hold the two princesses, beginning to tear their clothes. thus beginning to abuse them in front of the gali army, Servius had ordered that no one on the wall make any noise so that the cries of the two girls reach as clear as possible to the camp.
The king went into blind rage upon witnessing this, just as he went into deep despair upon hearing them.
"KILL THOSE SONS OF BITCHES! NONE MUST BE LEFT ALIVE! ATTACK NOW!"
"My Lord! We've only built the stairs! We couldn't even finish reinforcing the battering rams!"
"LAUNCH THE ATTACK NOW! WE OUTNUMBER THEM 7 TO 1!"
His men obeyed, beginning to form up and prepare for the attack, combined with the shouts of the princesses and the former king's cries for them to hurry.
Getting an army of nearly 70,000 into position was not something that was done quickly, especially when everyone was spread out looking for materials and building siege machinery, so the torture of the young women lasted another hour.
"Looks like they took the bait." Servius said, watching them form up. Once his enemies were ready and advancing, he ordered the two princesses off the wall. "Very well... catapults and ballistas! fire!"
The Imperials had not simply waited for the Gali to come... The engineers got down to work and had built 3 onagers and 6 ballistas, as well as several crossbows so that those who did not know how to use the bow could help in the defense.
The rocks slammed into the barbarian formations, shattering and sending several flying, the heavy bolts of the ballistae rendered useless the little improvised protection of the battering rams or those who carried wooden planks to cover several of their comrades from the arrows, making anyone who tried to take any of them quickly decimated.
Then they came into range of the arrows, beginning to rain down on the soldiers, killing hundreds at a time, those with individual shields tried to take cover, but the arrows came from all sides, causing several of them to end up wounded somewhere.
But the gali refused to retreat, especially with the king riding back and forth across the battlefield haranguing his soldiers to continue the advance.
It was more than obvious to say that those who carried the ladders were the first targets, but someone always took the place by taking the ladder to advance again.
Soon several thousand arrived under the wall, starting to throw arrows or whatever they had at hand. But the Imperials were protected by the battlements, plus at that range they could use their deadly pilum, so that's what they did, easily impaling anyone below.
The gali auxiliaries who joined the empire did not stand idly by either. They threw stones from the top of the wall. They also boiled water to throw later.
But with the arrival of the barbarian forces at the foot of the wall meant that there were fewer soldiers firing at those carrying the ladders, so it was inevitable that they would start arriving.
At first they weren't much of a problem, simply kicking the ladder away, but more and more were arriving and which they held quite tightly from the base so that they wouldn't push it over. Little by little they climbed the wall, starting a melee battle, a battle that the Imperials won and managed to expel the Gali from the wall, but the Gali came back up from different points to try to take the wall again.
The defenders threw boiling water on the stairs, burning all those who were climbing and making them fall, the onagers did not stop either, continuously hitting the increasingly compact gali.
The former king continued to harangue his soldiers.
"KILL THEM ALL! I DON'T WANT ANY PRISONERS!"
The number of casualties was increasing, surpassing 10,000 on the Gali side and reaching 2,000 on the defending side counting imperial and auxiliary... mostly auxiliary. But it was clear that the Gali had the advantage and the balance pointed to them winning, after hours there were sections of the wall where the Imperials were unable to expel the attackers. They also managed to take four ballista emplacements which the engineers decided to destroy so that they would not be captured. This made that the Gali could take the battering rams to begin to hit the city gate.
Servius quickly ordered the soldiers to form a phalanx in front of the gate to form a bottleneck.
And so they did, the 500 soldiers formed up, and when the gate fell silent they withstood the charge of thousands of gali. They would defend that position with their lives, eliminating anyone who came within range of their spears.
The outlook was hopeless for the Imperials who were losing more and more sections of the wall, to the point that there were already few archers and crossbowmen firing at those outside because it had already become mostly a melee. Servius knew they had little if any chance of winning, but this way he was able to inflict a great deal of damage on his enemies, so he was satisfied at having a glorious death.
Meanwhile, in a secluded spot of the wall where they could still afford to shoot arrows and crossbows, a young soldier was firing hidden bolts, at that he spots the former king of Ruthenia who was coming to the end of the extent of his forces, shouting and haranguing them to show no mercy.
"Tsk... Damn..." the soldier began to take aim with his crossbow, as the gali soldiers approached so did Juzeft to continue to inspire order and discipline, going from end to end.
There were several who tried to knock him down by shooting him, but it was almost impossible due to the speed of his horse. But the soldier saw that there was a moment where Juzeft had to stop, that moment was when he had to turn his horse to go to the other end of the wall.
So the soldier waited... And fired when Juzeft stopped and turned his horse. It was the tenth time he had tried but with those attempts he learned that the bolt would lose speed and begin to fall as it went, and how the wind could deflect the projectile.
With all he learned, this time he was able to hit the target, hitting it in Juzeft's neck and unlucky for him the horse did not stop, turning around he continued to walk as he had before, causing all his men to see how the former king had his neck pierced by a bolt.
"The king is dead!" They exclaimed in despair, that news spread throughout the Gali army like wildfire, reaching even up the walls.
No longer having their king cheering them on, their attention was soon drawn to other things besides the battle... Like the fact that they were walking over the corpses of their comrades. It was as if a spell was broken, now being able to see the enormous amount of casualties, as if they could now hear the screams of their comrades wounded by the sword or by the burns of the boiling water, now they could feel how the ground shook when the rocks impacted on a group of theirs, now they could realize that every time they approached the door they were easily killed by a phalanx which did not seem to want to give in. Hesitating more and more to try to advance on the imperial formations which at their feet had countless bodies of their own, which they themselves would have to throw off the wall if they wanted to try to advance.
"Look over there!" An imperial soldier points outside, 800 imperial knights were charging the gali flank, beginning to enter the demoralized ranks. "General Servius is leading the charge!"
"The enemy is running away from the general!"
"Come on boys, we can't let these savages overtake us!"
And so, with morale soaring, the Imperials began to recapture the wall, using their shields as mobile ramparts. Soon the numerical superiority of the Gali became their greatest weakness, being squeezed against each other barely able to move and many being crushed to death by their own comrades, desperation flooded the minds of the Gali, who began to throw themselves off the wall to escape.
The Gali below who were not being slaughtered by the cavalry saw their comrades throwing themselves to flee, so they too began to escape in all directions.
"Emroy has smiled on us in this battle giving us the victory!" said Servius raising his sword, seeing how his enemies fled to the forests.
This was an impeccable imperial victory, with this all the north of the gali lands would be at his mercy and at the same time he prevented those soldiers from going to Les.
After several hours, Servius could finally relax in the city palace, thinking of all the honors he would receive after this.
"My lord." His assistant spoke up - Are you sure you want to get rid of the princesses? There is still time to make them presentable and dignified for Prince Thrush."
"I am sure." He said eating some grapes. "It would be dangerous to leave them next to his highness or mine."
"My lord... I don't understand what those fragile girls can do?"
"Not much if I hadn't used them for today's battle... But just think about it... Not only were they raped in front of their village and their father, they were also the cause of their father dying while trying to save them... And to let someone who has nothing to lose near the prince of the empire who did that to them... it would be very tempting for them to assassinate him." He explained.
"Lord Servius, Do you think the prince would let himself be killed like that?"
"I'm sure, I know the prince is very permissive with his slaves. So eliminate them both, if they are bought by an important noble they might also try to eliminate him."
"Yesmy lord... But in that case what worthy gift could I give the prince?"
"Well... treasures, jewels, whatever, now let's enjoy this victory and the victory the prince will have. "

The ballistas fired incessantly against the gali militias from the watchtowers, the attack came from all sides of the palisade and continuously changed focus, not following orders of some general who could see a weak point, but because it seemed to the soldiers themselves that "that place was less protected", which was not true.
Despite the numerical advantage, they could not do anything to pass the palisade, the reason was that no one commanded over the entire force, there were endless groups that followed orders from the shaman or chief of their village, making the organization and coordination much more complicated. Thanks to this, the defenders had it pretty easy decimating the hordes of inexperienced barbarian recruits. they just had to make sure that the battering rams didn't reach their destination and everything would be fine.
Harngeil was in utter despair as the reinforcements literally slammed into the imperial defenses again and again only to retreat shortly thereafter with little damage done. They too tried to break through the imperial defenses, but with their forces so weakened by starvation to the point that some were already dying it was impossible without a well coordinated attack between the two sides.
Zorzal, on the other hand, just had to sit back and wait, he had sent an offer to the poor citizens of Les who were between the city walls and the inner palisades that, the next time Harngeil came out of the city to try to break our defenses, they would go into the city and take the walls to keep out the Gali king with the promise that if they succeeded they and their families would not be killed and they would be fed, however they did not accept.
"Your highness!" Cornelius was hurrying.-"A wizard cast a spell into the air heading northwest and almost the entire army from the outside is heading to that sector!"
"I understand... So this is the final assault? Stand by for when Harngeil comes out of the city!"
Soon after the outer wall was attacked, King Gali came out with his army to attack the inner wall, causing the army to split in two.
Arrows and spears flew in both directions, the outer gali tried to use ladders but the water moats made them useless in this scenario, but they had another idea to not waste the ladders, they piled up many of them along with some more wood to make a makeshift bridge. Although that didn't prevent them from being blown to pieces by the bullets.
"Boss!" Volcatts pointed in the direction of the city, up the hill they could see six very tall ladders of at least twelve meters raised, at the top of each one was someone, these ladders were getting pretty close. "Those are wizards! Take cover!"
Those people up on the stairs began to throw fireballs, high pressure water or some other spell. The target of these attacks was not the soldiers, but the watchtowers, blowing up the ballistae that were causing so much damage.
"Damn, shoot those mages down!" Zorzal ordered and the archers started shooting at them, it was complicated to hit them because they were in a very high position, but that also meant that the mages had a harder time in channeling their spells because they also had to do some balancing to not fall down.
The archers managed to knock some down, but other mages were able to cast spells against our troops and set several tents on fire.
But those mages were not firing at the inner wall, but at the outer wall, killing many soldiers defending the palisade against the endless horde. Giving opportunity for an improvised battering ram to cause a bridge made of stairs in a part of the wall.
The Gali began to hit the palisade with the battering ram, which was nothing more than a log supported by several, the imperials tried to knock it down but it was always protected by all the rest.
"The barbarians managed to breach the western side!" Cornelius reported. "We need reinforcements!"
"Leave that to us!" Volcatts spoke up. "These simple farmers will have nothing to do against us! Boys, let's go!". Volraden attended the orders and headed for the breach, beginning to easily slaughter the inexperienced recruits in a crushing manner, easily tearing many to pieces.
The blood-stained claws and teeth were a terrifying sight to those who had barely ever picked up a weapon in their lives. But just as the gali were about to run away, several spells hit those werewolves, beginning to decimate them.
"What happened, didn't they finish off those mages!" The Volralden leader looked in the direction of the city to find another ten stairs with mages on them.
But then the horde of peasants charged back with their morale restored after seeing how those monsters were swept away in no time.
The archers were doing their best to bring down those mages that gave so much trouble in all the battles.
"Damn, everything would be easier if they had given me mages..." I was saying regretfully as I wanted to learn how to use them, since magic was really our only advantage against the JSDF and I didn't plan to waste it like in the original story. "...I want a cohort right now! Let's go support the Volralden!" I ordered and after a few minutes 480 soldiers formed up. i took the lead of that force to prevent them from taking the fortress - "Cornelius, take the cavalry and go all the way around to attack them from behind" - taking my shield, Cornelius nodded and i started marching towards the fight.
Volcatts was in trouble, they had managed to hold the line miraculously so far, but between the spells and the amount of galis coming in was wearing them down, little by little more wolves were falling.
The reason that these inexperienced recruits insisted with the attack was because the news of Juzeft's death had reached them, as well as Ali's fall. So they knew that if King Harngeil died here or was captured all chance of winning the war would be lost, so this desperate attack was the last stand. So when the wizards stopped casting spells they continued to advance.
"Volcatts! Behind the formation!" I said with the cohort, the shields were in front, in position to hold off the next wave.
The Volralden chief obeyed and his men quickly moved behind me and my men, then the wave of people crashed against our shields. We stabbed and slashed every chance we got, the gali recruits with barely any armor could not push us, so we started to advance, taking several ahead of us.
In a moment of carelessness a rock hit my head, taking off my helmet and leaving me a deep cut on my forehead, which came out a lot of blood, staining my eyes and making me barely able to see well but thanks to the fact that I was in front the only thing I had to do was to continue advancing. that blow almost knocked me to the ground if not for the soldier who was behind me held me up, if I had not been wearing a helmet I would have died from the impact.
"Agh!... Let's keep moving! Let's close that gap!"
At that, from among the gali ranks I hear someone shout. "That's the prince of the empire! Kill him!"
Then I felt that more and more enemies focused on me, to the point that they even tried to jump on my shield to stab me with a dagger or something, luckily the men next to me eliminated them, but even so I was so overwhelmed that I had no chance to move my sword.
At that moment I felt a strong blow that made me fall backwards, I felt as if time slowed down as if I was about to die, above me there was a kobold and I knew what his goal was, to bite my neck off. Thanks to the fact that at the last moment I managed to move my head, the enemy did not succeed in biting my neck but he did not leave empty-handed, when my salute went through him with his back the kobold moved away from me, biting off my left ear.
At first, due to the adrenaline, I didn't feel the pain, it wasn't until the soldiers took me to the back of the formation with terrified expressions in their eyes and all the hot blood I felt on the left side of my face that the pain came, giving a loud scream of pain and panic.
"AHHHHHH! Trying to cover my wound with my hand, writhing on the ground. soon after they put some bandages on me to stop the bleeding.
"Take the prince to the field hospital, NOW!"
As they were about to take me away, I raised my hand to stop them. "No... let's keep going..." I said standing up with difficulty, groaning in pain.
I know this is a decision that can kill me, but my presence in battle affects the morale of my men, although I would no longer be in front, obviously, I would accompany them.
Thus, the cohort continued to advance, but it was not enough to be able to push them into the breach, but Cornelius had already managed to turn around with his cavalry, managing to make a charge against the unsuspecting rearguard of the gali forces, causing the remaining morale of the recruits to crumble and begin to flee for their lives.
Seeing that they were driven from the wall, the outside forces dispersed, beginning to flee the battlefield, and because of this Harngeil also ordered the retreat. those who were driven out of the city did not accept my deal so they simply let the gali forces in.
At this victory, everyone began to celebrate giving a triumphant shout which I could hear all the way to the field hospital.
"LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!"
