Cas walked down the straight road. He hummed a melody under his breath. The human did not know where he learned the song but it had filled his dreams alongside the fire. He found himself walking through village after village but nothing caught his eye. Eventually he found himself at the fork in the road. Cas looked down the right path where he saw another village waiting for him and then he turned to the left where all he could see was a large winding road.
Cas hummed to himself as he looked down the two different paths. One would lead him to where Rowena said she had already planned work out for him which would make his life easier in the long run. He was just a poor human orphan living in a world of supernatural. However, his entire being was telling him to go down the other route – which would lead into the unknown with an future that is up to him to decide.
Cas sighed this time as he looked toward the sky.
"What should I do?" he whispered to himself, "I could do with a sign." Silence meet his quiet words so Cas sat down where he was standing, right in the middle of the fork in the road. He sat there for an hour still undecided. Suddenly, something jumped him. He screamed as he ripped the thing of him only to meet the eyes of a dog. Cas frowned down at the dog, trying to remember his lessons on animals. He knew each animal was different compared to each species of people. Humans had dogs, but this creature was too big to be a dog. The creature almost looked like…
"You're an Impala" Cas whispered. Impala's were a rare creature, often finding themselves working alongside Hunters and looked like a combination between wolves and dogs. This Impala was shaggy with a large tongue hanging out of its mouth as it seemed to stare right at Cas with intelligent eyes.
Cas frowned as he tilted his head at the Impala. The animals copied his movement and Cas caught sight of a collar sticking out of his fur. He slowly grabbed the tag and read the name of the animal: "Your name is Baby." The Impala panted.
"Where is your Hunter?" Cas asked. He stood up, brushing mud from his trench coat only for Baby to grab part of the tie and beginning to drag Cas down the left path. Cas allowed Baby to do this, for he figured that this could be sign that his life is better following his gut.
Four hours later Cas found himself standing in the ruins of what could have been a beautiful city. The place felt a little familiar, but Cas couldn't put a finger on it. The people here seemed to be mostly depressed. Cas looked down at Baby would was sitting practically on his feet, growling at anyone who would come near the pair.
"Where do you think we should go?" Cas asked Baby, who sniffed the air and began to walk. Cas followed Baby, for lack of a better option, as the pair entered an ally.
Dean groaned as he and Sam sat at a table looking over research. Raphael was once again hanging over Sam's shoulder.
"What makes you think he's in Hell?" the spirit asked. Dean groaned and slammed his head onto the table. Sam looked at Raphael.
"Because we have already looked at Enochia and Earth. What better place to hide someone than under the noses?" Sam asked. Raphael hummed before his attention seemed to be grabbed by something else.
"You alright?" Dean asked. Normally Raphael would be insulting them. The royals that haunted this place were certain that the youngest member of their family is still alive. No matter how many times Dean tells them that there is no way an angel with the prophesised powers of Castiel would be hidden for this long without someone seeing him, they told the two boys that if they wanted to keep living in the palace, they need to find Castiel.
"Yes. I'll be back" said Raphael, "mother is calling for me." He vanished as Sam looked at Dean.
"Did you hear anything?" the younger brother asked. Dean rolled his eyes.
"Spirits make no sense man" he growled and want back to reading about angels.
Rebecca felt tears come to her eyes as she watched the teenager slowly walk into the foyer of the palace. He closely resembled what she felt her baby would one day look like. Raphael appeared beside her.
"Mother," he whispered, "are you okay?" She nodded as the boy looked around. She disappeared and reappeared near the boy and the Impala. Raphael appeared beside her. He sucked in a breath.
"That can't be" he whispered. The boy gave no indication that he heard them.
"Its uncanny. He looks just like Castiel" Rebecca said. Raphael nodded and looked closer.
"He has no glow, and his eyes seem dull. He looks human. It can't be Castiel" said Raphael, regretting the words the moment they left his mouth. Rebecca sighed.
"I'm aware" she said, "it's strange though to see a human with an Impala." The Queen could still feel tears running down her cheeks as she stares at the teenager her son could have become had Lucifer not done what he had done.
"Becca!" a voice called. Rebecca turned at the sound her husband calling for her, "I'll get your father and Michael."
"I'm getting Sam and Dean. There is an intruder that can't see us. He's human. He shouldn't have gotten by the wards" said Raphael and mother and son vanished to complete their tasks.
