NO. 4 DEAD ON YOUR FEET
Prompt: Hidden Injury Waking Up Disoriented Can't Pass Out
Five wakes up with a concussion and no memory of what happened, finding himself in the alley next to the Academy. The siblings watch over him to make sure he doesn't suffer any long term damages
"Diego, do you have any pain killers?" Klaus whined as he invited himself into Diego's bedroom. "I'm all out."
"Well maybe if you didn't take them 5 at a time, there would be more," Diego rolled his eyes. He was busy wrapping his wrist up, preparing to go out.
"But anything less doesn't work," Klaus pouted.
He walked over to sit on the bed, but Diego quickly moved his knife case on the spot that Klaus was aiming to sit.
"That's rude," Klaus moved to sit on the window ledge when something outside caught his attention. "Diego?"
"I don't have any pain killers Klaus."
"Well I figured that out, but I was going to ask you… does that body laying in the alley look like el Numero Cinco?"
Diego looked at Klaus and quickly moved next to him, looking out the window.
Sure enough, there was a small framed body laying in the alley in a school boy uniform.
Diego glanced again at Klaus, confirming his thoughts and they both raced out of the room.

They ran out the door and turned the corner into the alley.
"Five!" Diego called out sharply, as if the sudden sound of his voice could stir the boy. "Five!"
Klaus was the first to reach him though. He turned him over. There was a large bruise right on the corner of his forehead by his temple. The skin was split over it.
"Do you think he got hit with something?" Klaus looked around as if he would find the offending object.
Diego brought his attention upwards. "Unless he clocked himself falling down."
There weren't many balconies over on this side, and the rooms that they were connected to weren't exactly "common" areas.
Klaus tapped Five's cheeks softly, which caused him to stir with a groan. At that sound, Diego dropped down on his brother's other side.
"Hey," Klaus said softly to him. "Wakey wakey, Fivey."
Five slowly opened his eyes. He looked between the two and then started to pull himself up to look at his surroundings.
"Slowly," Diego cautioned.
"What happened?" Five asked, looking back to his brothers.
"We were hoping you could answer that."
Five studied around him. The ground was wet from fresh rain, and cold. He wasn't wet, so he must have been out after the rain. His head hurt in two ways. He had a pounding headache, and his forehead felt like he was met with another frying pan. He raised a hand to it, feeling the lump.
He realized Diego and Klaus were waiting for an answer.
"I-I don't know," Five finally voiced with a sigh. "I can't…I can't remember how I got out here."
"What is the last thing you do remember?" Klaus pressed.
"Trying to calculate the formula to…" Five stopped. What was the calculation for? "I…don't remember what for."
Diego and Klaus exchanged glances.
"Well, let's get you inside and warm. Have Mom take a look at your head." He wrapped and arm under Five to help him up to his feet. They immediately gave out on him, and he dipped down. Klaus grabbed at the other side to steady him.
This would have been easier if Luther was home.
"This isn't going to work," Five complained. "I don't think I can…stand."
Diego sighed and leaned to lift at Five's legs, pulling him up bridal style. Five was so out of it, he didn't fight or complain. "Klaus get the door."

"What happened?" Viktor and Allison immediately got up from the table as Diego brought Five in through the kitchen, followed by Klaus.
"We need Mom to check him over," Diego informed him.
"That doesn't answer the question," Allison's eyes searched over her injured brother. "Is that a lump on his head."
"Sure is," Klaus answered, filling in the blanks. "We found him in the alley unconscious. He woke all disoriented with no memory of how he got there… not sure if he blinked there or what."
Viktor walked ahead of Diego, "I'll get mom."
"I'm going to lay him on the couch," Diego called out to Viktor, who was rushing ahead. "Since I'm not sure if we should bring him to his room or the infirmary."
He walked into the living room, and placed Five down. He looked him over, placing a hand on his cheek. Five was unconscious again.
"Five?" He gave a little tap, causing Five to moan in protest. "Come on, Buddy. I'm not sure if you should go to sleep, so stay awake for me? Just at least until Mom looks you over."
Allison entered with an ice pack, bending to put it on Five's bump. Five looked at her, his eyes not seeming to recognize the scene around him.
"His pupils look uneven," Allison leaned closer to get a better look.
Just then Viktor and Grace entered.
"Oh dear," Grace looked over 'the Boy' and knelt next to him, checking him over.
"I'm sorry," Five said awkwardly. "I should have stayed inside, Mom."
The others glanced at each other nervously. Five never referred to her as "mom". She was always "Grace" to him, even when they were kids.
Even Grace registered this as something unusual, but she gave a comforting smile and squeezed his hand.
"We'll take care of you," she promised him. He gave her a little nod and closed his eyes. She turned to the others. "He has a concussion."
"So shouldn't he stay awake?" Diego asked, nervously.
"That isn't necessary. We just need to wake him every so often to ensure that he isn't suffering any deteriorating symptoms."
"And his memory?"
"It may never come back," Grace said, honestly. "He doesn't remember anything after doing calculations in his room," Klaus told the others. "He doesn't even remember what the calculations were for."
"And then you found him just laying outside?" Allison asked. "In the rain?"
"It had finished raining by then," Diego said, thinking about it. "Only the side of the clothes that were on the ground were wet."
"So he was out there after the rain," Viktor realized. "Which means he couldn't have been out there for long."
"I would imagine not," Klaus chimed in. "He didn't feel wet or cold, really."
They all looked to their sleeping brother.
"How did he get that lump…" Allison looked at the baseball sized bump on his head.
"We should let him rest for now," Viktor suggested. "We'll wake him when we need to and see if he can remember anything."

"Five?"
Five opened his eyes and immediately winced.
"The light…"
He saw through his eyelids the light being shut off. He opened his eyes again, now the only light into the room was peeking in from the hallways.
"Better?" Diego asked.
Five looked at him and noticed Klaus was with him as well.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like a car backed over my head," Five replied.
"Do you remember what happened?" Diego asked him.
Five thought about it.
God did that hurt.
"I was doing an equation… I was stuck. I needed some air, but didn't want to go downstairs and get distracted by anyone…"
Klaus looked outside at the small fire escape. "You went out onto the fire escape…"
Five nodded. "The next part is hazy…"
"What can you remember?"
"It was raining a bit…I slipped… I think I blinked?"
"You probably hit your head then," Diego connected the dots.
"I suppose so."
"It doesn't matter. As long as you weren't attacked. You just need to be more careful, old man." Diego told him. "You scared the shit out of us."
Five flushed a bit. "Sorry," he mumbled.
"Aw, it's alright Fivey," Klaus put a hand on Five's shoulder. "We'll be here to nurse you back to health."
Five looked to Diego for help. Diego held up his hands with a smile. "You're stuck in bed until Grace says it's safe. So don't push it."
Five sighed and shifted.
Might as well get comfortable.
And that's all for this one! Hope you liked it! Feel free to put in a request- if it matches a Whumptober prompt I may do it here- if not I'll carry it over to my other fic!
