NO. 5 EVERY WHUMPEE'S NEEDS

Prompt: out of the few options given with this title, I chose "hyperthermia"

When their guard was down, Five was snatched by some Commission. The rest of the Hargreeves receive some help in finding him, suffering from Heat stroke.

"Any sign of him?"

Luther looked to the others. The Commission scattered the moment they all arrived, thanks to a briefcase Lila managed to get ahold of.

She was the one who went running to them the moment she saw Five, unconscious and being dragged to the lower level of the commission. Her mother was gone, but there were still some members who were not fans of Number Five. She wasn't really a fan either, but she watched the videos. She knew what had happened in the barn, and Five saved them all.

The Commission managed to snag him while he was fleeing from the Sparrow Academy with the others. All it took was a turn of the head and he was gone. Next thing the Hargreeves knew Lila was there, telling them that he was in trouble.

It's one thing to be able to catch one of the siblings off guard… but not all of them, and the agents knew they didn't stand a chance.

So they just ran.

Lila looked down the hall. They checked through all the doors…

"The vault…" she said. "They couldn't have put him in there…"

"Where's that?" Diego asked her.

She pointed and they all followed.

"It's a furnace in there," she said. "And practically air tight."

They turned the corner and there was a black iron door.

Viktor stepped up, eyes glowing and Lila joined in.

"Nice to be on the same side," Viktor acknowledged.

They both turned their attention on the door and sent a force of sound waves to crack the wall around it.

Luther ran up and pulled at the door, causing the whole thing to come down, Five's body tumbling over it.

"Five!"

He was clearly up against the door trying to figure out a way out.

"Why couldn't he blink?" Diego wondered.

"They definitely drugged him with something," Lila recalled how he was dragged.

Luther turned the boy over. His eyes were open and glazed over, his face flushed.

Viktor dropped down next to them and looked Five over.

"Five?"

"I couldn't get it right," Five slurred, before falling unconscious.

"Get what right?" Allison asked.

"I don't think he realizes what he is saying," Luther said.

"Five…" Viktor leaned over him and studied him more closely. His clothes were wrinkled as if they dried stiffly after wet, his hair was matted to his head. However… "He's not sweating," Viktor realized.

Luther placed a hand on Five's cheek, "he's burning up."

"Heat stroke." Allison realized.

"We have to bring down his temperature before he seizes," Diego informed them.

"Upstairs," Lila said. "Bring him this way."

Luther lifted him and they all followed after Lila.

Lila opened the door to the ice locker.

"Why is this here?" Allison asked.

"To store bodies," Lila said, as if it was obvious.

Luther stood with Five still in his arms. The others grabbed at chunks of ice around them to put against Five.

Five shifted in Luther's arms uncomfortably.

"We have to do this," Viktor said out loud, as if informing Five, unsure if he could hear him.

They waited for what felt like an eternity. One by one they started shivering, but all of them refused to leave until Five's temperature was definitively lower.

Five woke up in what appeared to be a hotel room.

"Oi! He's awake!" He heard Lila's voice call out. He glanced over confused, shifting himself to more of a sitting position, preparing for a fight.

"Calm down Five," Lila told him. "I'm not here to hurt you. I'll wait till you're feeling better so you have a fighting chance."

Five looked around, seeing Diego and Viktor.

"Hey," Viktor went over to sit down next to him. "You scared us."

"How?" Five felt so confused. "We left the Sparrow Academy…"

"And the Commission snuck up and drugged you," Diego started to fill in the blanks. "Lila came and got us."

"They put you in the vault. We had to bring you to the ice locker to bring down your temperature." Lila finished up.

Five looked at her surprised. "Why…"

"…did I save you? Because you saved us at the barn." Lila answered. Now Viktor and Diego looked confused, but Five steadied his gaze on Lila. "But just give me a reason and I'll kick your little ass."

Five paused for a moment and then let out a laugh.

"Welcome to the family, Lila."

I know. Short one. It's hard to write these in a timely manner while working a full time job, while going to school.
