Author's Note: You're getting this now because it's game night (Star Wars FFG currently, probably back to D&D some time in 2022) and I don't know when I'd get it out otherwise. This is the continuation of days 3 and 4.
"Is this the one I'm thinking of?" Stacie asked, raising an eyebrow at her wife.
"That depends which one you're thinking of." Beca answered
"That movie geek with no gaydar whatsoever." Stacie said. "What was his name? Josh or something?"
"Jesse." Beca said bitterly. "And yes, it's that story."
"Oh then yeah, this is good." Stacie confirmed, smiling at the blonde and redhead.
"I like to think so." Beca agreed. "We haven't known each other as long as the two of you, we just met in our first year of college. We were roommates."
"They were ROOMMATES!" Aubrey and Chloe said together, giggling. When they calmed, Aubrey added "Sorry, we love Sappho and Her Friend. Anyway, go on."
"It can be quite entertaining." Beca conceded "Anyway, on move in day, as I was getting my stuff out of the trunk of the cab, this car blaring Carry On Wayward Son stops in front of me and this idiot starts singing along with it at me. I was standing there thinking 'I can tell you make great life choices, dude.', but didn't say anything. When I finally get to my room, Legs here is already there, setting up her side, wearing just about the shortest shorts she could get away with and a Barden University, that's where we were, shirt that left little to the imagination."
"Hey! We went to Barden! We graduated in 2012, how about you two?" Aubrey asked.
"2015, so our first year was when you were seniors." Stacie explained. "Cool, it's a shame we never met, we could be further along with whatever it is that's happening here than we are."
"Like she said." Beca continued. "As you can imagine, she was fucking gorgeous with zero effort. I was kind of speechless for a bit, to the point she had to ask if I spoke English after she introduced herself. Finally, my brain kicked in and we started talking. We were interrupted though by my father who was the reason I was there, he teaches there and convinced my mom and her wife that I should get a degree instead of going straight to Los Angeles like I wanted. Anyway, Stacie gave me an out saying she was going to the activities fair and I said I was going with her."
"Those fairs were fun, I just wish there were something like a cappella groups or something there." Aubrey said. "There was a club that ran around in circles, but no a capella."
"Yeah I saw those people, that was, odd." Beca shook her head. "I was lucky enough to sign up to work at the radio station. What I didn't know, so did the Wayward Son dude, or as you guessed it, Jesse."
"I am really not liking this guy one bit." Aubrey shuddered, picking up on the disdain in her voice.
"You don't really like any men other than your father and my brothers." Chloe pointed out. "Which is fine, you being gay and all."
"With you there." Beca nodded at the blonde. "So yeah, we show up and the dude who was running the station at the time said a lot of stuff that boiled down to basically 'stack cds and don't have sex on the desk', as if that was going to happen, I was the only girl there. But Jesse thought it was fucking fate or something that we were both working at the station after he had 'serenaded' me on move in day, like it was out of a movie or some shit. Dude was obsessed with movies, I told him I don't care for them and couldn't believe it and that he was going to get me to like them."
"You don't like movies?" Chloe asked, tilting her head.
"I like movies fine, it was mainly a lie to get him off my back." Beca explained. "Like Stace said, he had no gaydar, I was standing there in a flannel shirt, short fingernails, you know, things most girls like us would pick up on. But he wsa clueless. And he had the audacity to try calling me 'Rebecca' multiple times. My name is decidedly NOT Rebecca, it's just Beca. I showed him my college ID, my driver's license, he was convinced. Dudes and their fragile egos. And he kept hitting on me, trying to get me to watch movies with him. After the first week of this, I told him in no uncertain terms I'm super gay and he just laughed it off, like I was playing hard to get or something."
"She'd come back to our dorm and just vent about him, I didn't even know him and I hated him." Stacie said.
"Things came to a head one day when I was sitting on the quad doing my thing when I threw down a Capri Sun or something and said he was going to get me to like movies." Beca continued. "I saw Stacie behind him, and could tell she was hearing what was going on. I told him 'Please just let me go, dude. I don't know how many different ways I can tell you I'm gay.', and that's where this one came in." she said, bringing Stacie's hand to her mouth and kissing it.
"The exasperation was coming off her in waves, so I plopped down next to her, kissed her and said 'Hey babe, what's going on?'. Dude finally took the hint, gathered up his stuff, and left. She thanked me and we sat there talking. I told her that if she wanted, we could go on an actual date. And that following Saturday, we had our first official date."
"Yeah, he was clearly insufferable, I am sure I would hate him." Aubrey agreed as the story wrapped up.
"So, since you do actually like movies, would you two like to watch one sometime?" Chloe asked nervously. "I think we can tell, there's something between us, and I would like to see where it goes."
"Me too." Stacie agreed. "It's a date."
