Almost a month already and now I am still high on motivation for this story!. Honestly, this fic has been driving my writing instinct to high gear and I start to feel better at writing. Burnout is going away and I hope this keeps up. I hope there will be more for you guys while I enjoy writing this fic.
With that said, let's begin.
Part 0
Izuku Midoriya laid down on his bed as night slowly began. The moon rose and he had just finished dinner. Raquel had left before dinner, refusing Inko's insistence on giving her a good dinner.
As the boy began to let his thoughts wander aimlessly, he eventually landed on all the revelations that were given to him.
Servitude for life. Loss of his (physical) humanity. Search for the fragment of an omnipotent power.
Things started to crash down on his mind and heart as caught up, processed, and finally understood the much larger implication of the revelations.
He turned around and planted his face into his pillow, suppressing his emotions just like always as it worked for him many times before anyway.
Inko was frantic as she heard the bloody scream of a broccoli while Hisashi was looking through the cabinet calmly, looking for honey to prevent any throat complications.
Part I
Izuku Midoriya, with a heavy heart and possibly heavy body, trudged through the street without a care for the world. His heavy mind still reeled from mentally assaulted by all the possibilities of something going wrong, with failures plagueging his immediate and far-flung future.
As he continued to make his way, he noticed police tapes sealed the shorter route to his school, preventing anyone from entry to that place. He felt guilty about it, as he knew the truth. The tunnel caved in and it might be his fault it happened.
His mind told him it wasn't, but insecurities and self-blaming always won out. It always worked out for him at the end of the day as, in his own words, a healthy behavior.
He continued his way in a hurried pace, unwilling to be late after missing his classes the day before. If he were to guess, the teacher would allow students to make fun of him again as Kacchan continued to 'dissuade' him from heroics.
"Just another day at the school." He sighed as he approached the school gate, ready for the day to happen.
Until he was intercepted by the smell of roses and touch of wind. He saw flowing gold hair and eyes right in front of him which caused him to yelp in surprise as Raquel gave him an unimpressed expression.
"Will it take a day where you will not yelp by surprises? Your yelling is grating my poor ears."
"S-sorry." He meekly apologized to the vampire, admonishing himself for being caught off guard. Raquel held her unimpressed expression, but suddenly held her bag to the boy. Confused, he only looked at it dumbly as he tried to understand her intention.
"Carry my bag Broccoli, you are my servant so you must do what a servant does."
He wanted to protest, yet the words died as soon as it came to his mind before he unwillingly took the bag. She was right that he was her servant now, thus must act upon his role. Even if he disliked the idea of servitude.
'Then again… I am helping someone so that's a plus.' He mentally justified the servitude.
Raquel took point by walking in front of Izuku while the latter followed, carrying both of their bags as they entered the school. He could feel the curious and judgemental gaze of other students, whispering among each other with their own speculations.
No doubt it looked like the bullied boy had fallen even further down as he was acting like the lakey of the new transfer student.
Which didn't go unnoticed by another blonde.
"Oi, what the fuck is this shit?" Bakugo yelled, like always, when he stomped his way to the pair. Raquel took a moment to glance at the angry blonde then promptly ignored him, gesturing to Izuku to follow her. "Are you making him carry your shit?"
"What of it?" She finally responded to the explosive blonde. "He is merely fulfilling his duty as my new servant for he owes his life to me. Thus, he belongs to me." She placed a hand on her chest, proudly proclaiming Izuku as her's.
Izuku could hear even more whispers and lowered his head, trying to shrink from the gaze of other students. Bakugo scowled harder and grabbed her collar with his right hand while the left hand was cracking to blow up.
"I give you five fucking seconds to take that back." He growled at the unfeeling girl who remained silent for five seconds. The tense atmosphere grew as time went on and Izuku wanted to interfere between both parties.
But can he do it? He was a weak person with a weak quirk. No matter the effort he placed, it will all be nothing. Why put effort when it resulted in nothing?
But… maybe a little effort could help.
"K-kacchan." He spoke up, only to flinch when the attention went to him. "She's… right about me being her servant. I literally owed her my life yesterday and this was what she asked in return."
It was a little more, like doing a treasure hunt for an omnipotent power, but who would believe him?
"What did she do anyway?" Bakugo questioned, still holding skepticism over the relationship between Izuku and Raquel.
Raquel decided to interject, finally speaking after the tense situation shifted by Izuku. "I merely ensure that his life was not forfeited when the tunnel collapsed."
That line made Bakugo widen his eyes, shocked over the reply. Puzzle pieces and scenarios fell into his mind as he could imagine how terrified the green haired teen felt before being saved by the golden eye girl.
'Of course he would feel so in debt that he would be willing to give his life away for her.' He scowled deeper, finding the very idea that the other teen doesn't value his life enough to reject the notion of servitude.
He let go of Raquel, who slightly scowled at the wrinkles around her uniform's collar before straightening it. As it happened, Bakugo turned away, but not before leaving Izuku some words.
"If she started making you less than a Deku, you better tell me to beat the shit out of her!"
With that, he left the pair while Izuku was confused over the words. Was he caring about him, or was there a double meaning? Why would Katsuki Bakugo even show any sign of caring after so many years of neglect?
Izuku Midoriya merely brushed those thoughts off and accepted that his friend was looking out for him.
Part II
The day went by with surprising calm with only Bakugo agitated by the fact his old seat was taken by Raquel. Said girl simply ignored the boy, but instead paid some attention to Izuku instead.
As soon as the class was over, Bakugo and Raquel stood up at the same time before quickly approaching the green haired teen.
"Broccoli, come with me."
"Deku, get your ass moving."
Both speaking people turned to each other, one scowling while the other remained indifferent. Raquel and Bakugo turned back to Izuku, wishing for their target of attention to choose.
Unfortunately for Bakugo, he got a bad response. "Let's go Raquel… I think what you want is more important."
Before Izuku could take a step, Bakugo immediately took hold of the other boy's back collar and pulled him towards him. Faced with the scowling face, Izuku immediately ready to run when the chance shows itself.
"I have more important shit to talk to you about. So move your ass before I blow it up." Bakugo growled and the crackling on his free hand showed he meant it.
Raquel sighed and closed her eyes. Both boys turned their attention to the vampire before they met with her eyes changed to blood red.
"Release your hand from Broccoli and allow him to follow me. Once done, forget about this encounter and return home." Her voice echoed in a commanding tone, as if otherworldly power exuded from her. As if the power had ruled over reality itself, Bakugo complied obediently and let the pair go.
They left the classroom, Izuku felt a question ready to leave his lips but he could recognize it would not be the right time to do so. Once they left the school gate, Izuku quickly pulled Raquel aside from the main walkway, behind a tree to obscure them.
"What did you do to Kacchan?" He questioned with higher pitch than he intended, a telltale sign of him on the verge of panic.
"I merely used one of my heritage power, Slave Red, to commad him." That got Izuku horrified and he immediately grabbed Raquel's shoulder, slightly shaking her in distress.
"You brainwashed him?!" He felt a tinge of anger in him given the knowledge of his friend being brainwashed. The casual admittance of Raquel brainwashing Bakugo drove his sense of righteousness into overdrive, wanting to admonish her for doing so.
Raquel gave Izuku a deadpanned look as she found it annoying. "I do not care for whatever morals you humans had over this fact, but I could only see this as a means to quickly resolve an issue. So I suggest you put down your moral justice sense and do as I say."
The boy bit his tongue when he was about to retort, holding back his words and thought of the reasoning. It was thanks to the brainwashing that they were able to avoid any conflict, de-escalating the situation before it could begin. However, somewhere deep down, he felt conflicted between logic and moral, as Bakugo was not a villain. Despite that, there were nuances that ran in his mind which he doesn't want to entertain for now.
So the boy nodded, giving Raquel the win for now.
"Good. Since we have no time to waste, allow me to explain the situation." Izuku nodded, letting Raquel speak her mind.
"While the school's mystery could be a possible lead to finding a fragment of the Blue, I had a solid clue towards one of the fragments that I had kept an eye on for weeks. It is not in Mustafu but it was nearby enough for us to search for it. I believe that place is called Mie."
"The Mie prefecture." Izuku repeated and pondered upon it. The prefecture itself was indeed not too far away from Mustafu, as all it took was an hour of bullet train ride to get there. "So you want us to go there to investigate whether the fragment is there?"
Raquel nodded. "Even if the fragment had moved it's position, I could set-up a scrying spell at the location to seek out a more precise location it decided to move."
The moment Raquel mentioned the spell, Izuku placed that information into his memory bank and wanted to ask her many questions. "Scrying spell? As in magic?" He wondered if she meant another part of her Quirk, as Quirks, while many times physics defying, still could be explained in science similar to SCPs. Magic, he theorized, were phenomena that could not be explained by science no matter what.
"Yes, indeed it is magic. We vampires are magical in nature, thus we could utilize magic however we pleased. Slave Red was one such spell that my race could utilize." Raquel explained.
"But enough explanations. Let's be on the move now or we will not arrive in four hours."
"Four hours?!" Izuku exclaimed at her, shocked over why it took her four hours to reach Mie prefecture. "You can be over there in an hour just by riding the bullet train."
Raquel tilted her head, clear innocent confusion plastered on her face as if she never heard of such a method. "I assumed that human's means of transport were only vehicles like cars or by foot. I never heard of a transport known as a bullet train."
The boy owlishly looked at Raquel and mentally admitted that she was serious about her statement. He processed the fact that, for all regality and 'holier-than-thou' attitude she exudes, the girl still has weaknesses that were not known to him yet. Weaknesses that he could exploit in different scenarios.
That was if he was a malicious person. Even then, he tried to show any indication of finding her ignorance to be amusing.
"No, in Japan we have one of the best train lines in the world. The bullet train is the fastest long distance transport in the world. How did you not know it?"
Raquel scrunched her face which gave Izuku the indication that she was new to the concept of bullet trains. However, the next line of sentence was an oddity. "I thought trains were replaced by trams. Was the information given to me wrong?"
"Where did you even hear it?" Izuku asked her, genuine curiosity rose from his mind.
The girl nearly answered, only to stop herself and shook her head. Her facial expression showed clear agitation, as if reprimanding herself. "It's nothing but a mistake on my part. Now take me to this bullet train and let us off to Mie."
Izuku dropped the topic and simply nodded, not wishing to agitate the girl.
Part III
Ochako Uraraka hastened her pace as she was near a construction site, where the foundations had long since been in place and the workers were busy with building the internal structure. She wondered if her father was pushing his old bones once again and brushing off his pain as nothing.
Regardless of whether the man wanted it or not, she will just insist on helping the construction workers with her Quirk and make their lives easier.
However, as she got closer, at the corner of her eyes she noticed something peculiar. A green-haired boy and a gold-haired girl were looking intently at the construction site, sipping a cup of hot liquid that she couldn't identify.
While it was not unusual for people to observe construction workers doing their work, most of the time it was a passing glance or short observation.
Those two, however, were seemingly very intent on observing the workers. Suspicious of their activity, Ochako decided to get close to the two while discreetly looking 'normal'. As she got close while taking an outdated newspaper to 'read', she managed to be at a distance where their conversation could be clearly heard.
The gold-haired girl huffed, seemingly frustrated before giving the boy a stink eye."I still say we should go into this 'construction site' to start the investigation."
The boy only shook his head and sighed. "Just sit back and wait for now. If we get the timing right, we can go in and just do a quick investigation to see whether it is there or not. Worst case scenario, we have to run before we can make any progress."
'So they want to get into the site?' Ochako frowned and her urge to intervene flared. She hoped for more information to leak from the pair, but they simply stayed silent. Disappointment in her heart, she walked away and made a small round to avoid suspicion.
Eventually, she arrived at the entrance for the construction site and saw her father lifting a bag of sand with the help of his Quirk, Gravity Pull. Without hesitation, she pressed five of her fingers to remove the weight of the bag and allowed her father to lift it with ease.
Shocked at first by the loss of weight, he turned to her and gave her a bright smile. "Occhan? You're here again."
"Yep." She returned the smile and made a small fist pump. "Just got back from school. Surprised ya with my help?"
The man gave a hearty laugh and used a hand to pat her affectionately. "Yes yes, ya did a good job ya stubborn piece of work. Now release the Quirk before ya barf all ovah da place."
The girl pouted but still followed the instruction by pressing all of her fingers together and muttered "Release". The weight of the bag returned and pressed down on the shoulder of the man.
Thanking his daughter, he told her to wait in the office and prepared to continue his work.
"Uhm, dada! I got something to tell ya. It's urgent." The man stopped his steps and then gestured to the girl to continue. She got close to the man's ear and covered her mouth to ensure not many people could hear her.
"Just now I saw two people, a guy and a girl, outside of the site and was thinking of coming in to investigate something. I don't know what it is but they want to do it secretly."
The man nodded with a serious expression. It's not everyday something similar happens, but he and his fellow construction workers have precautions in place to ensure no one would sneak in for safety purposes.
"Aside from dat, did ya hear anything else?" He asked her, wishing to know more.
The girl shook her head with a small frown. "I think they already had a plan in place, so nothing much I can know." She silently hoped that this information wouldn't cause too much issues for her father, but she already could tell that he was already pondering on how to face such a situation.
"Why not just let dem come in real quick then?"
Ochako could only react by giving her most dumbfounded expression to him.
