The day Seth disappeared, Morgan woke up knowing shit was going down. She hadn't had nightmares like this in a long time and it seemed like a bad omen.

In her dream, Seth was in grave danger. It was a rewrite of the catastrophe, where everyone had lost to Obake. Everyone except Morgan. Which meant Morgan was left, standing toe to toe with Obake and cowering. She was a failure, just as he had said.

"You can't save the people in your life, you couldn't save Tadashi and you won't save Hiro. Or Seth. Because you're not a hero, Morgan, you're not an angel, you're not even special. Everything you've ever done has failed, even this."

Morgan saw Seth's body, mangled under the ruins of the city. Seth, mutilated because of Morgan's mistakes.

Morgan woke up sobbing, her bed empty except for Beans. The cat couldn't comfort Morgan now, she needed to find Seth. If Seth was anywhere to be found.

Morgan smelled the coffee and heard Seth's voice from the basement and let out a sigh of relief, scrubbing the tears off her face before heading downstairs and throwing her arms around Seth's shoulders.

"Good morning to you too, Sugar. Is everything okay?"

"I had a terrible dream last night," Morgan said, before recoiling at the sight of what Seth was working on.

"I thought you stripped him for parts," Morgan said, obviously disturbed by the decapitated Robo-Obake head.

"And ruin a gorgeous piece of machinery like this? I couldn't do it."

"At least keep the bastard in a box," Morgan said, shuddering as she remembered her dream.

"He really hurt me, Seth. And Hiro. I don't want to look at him."

Seth nodded and put the head in a box. Morgan was tense until it was packed away, like the android's skull was the head of Medusa, petrifying her.

"Do you want to tell me about your dream?"

"It was a stupid What If."

"Your fears aren't stupid."

"Yeah, but they still suck ass. And this time my fears were manifesting a reality where I lost you in the catastrophe."

"Don't say manifesting. The catastrophe is past and everything is okay. You're not going to lose me, I promise."

Seth stood to kiss Morgan, but Morgan flinched away.

"I don't think you can promise that, Seth. Just be careful, okay?"

"I will, babe. I'm just gonna go to work, no harm in that. And we can pump the brakes on the criminal empire until things feel more stable, okay? No one is in danger."

"No one is in danger," Morgan repeated weakly, still shaken up by her nightmare.

"I love you, Morgan."

"I love you too." Morgan never missed an opportunity to say it, because, as sickening as the thought was, you never knew when you'd lose the chance to say "I love you."

"Be careful," Morgan pleaded once more, and Seth promised with a nod, blowing Morgan a kiss before heading upstairs to go to work.

Morgan caught the kiss and held it for a while, before breaking down in tears once more, unable to shake the slimy, inadequate feeling her dream had reawoken. That feeling had always been inside of her, but now it was back with a vengeance.

Seth was worried, but not about themself. Their own insecurities had been smoothed over after date night, but it seemed like anxiety couldn't leave them alone. One of them had to be having doubts at all times. They were good at comforting each other, but there has to be more than hurt and comfort, right?

Seth decided that after work they were going to stop by the flower shop where Bennet worked and surprise Morgan with some flowers. Whatever was in season, Bennet would know. Seth shot him a text asking about flowers before heading into work.

It was only their second week at Sycorax but things already felt a little bit off. Maybe the air felt a little bit colder, or Chris kept a closer eye on them as they walked to their lab. Seth decided to ask one of the other engineers about it when they got into work.

"Imogene, can I ask you a weird question?"

"I'm in a relationship."

"Me too, it's a work question."

"Oh, then yes."

"Do you know what we're doing at Sycorax? Like, not what we're doing but what the company is doing?"

Imogene stopped and looked at Seth, but not judgmentally.

"Huh. I guess I don't. Liv said we were invaluable to the company but she hasn't really said much else. Ask Butch, he's been here the longest."

Seth walked over to the short, bulky, muscular engineer who looked like he'd been in the industry for a long time but also looked like he couldn't be older than 35.

"Hey, Butch, do you know what Sycorax is in the business of? Like, what exactly do we do here?"

"Innovation," Butch said.

"Right, of course, but what are we innovating?"

"I don't know, I'm not the biotech guy. Why don't you ask Liv? Or Chris? He knows everything she does around here."

"I really don't want to talk to Chris," Seth said before the Ken doll popped up behind them.

"Talk to me about what?"

"Seth has some questions for Liv about the company's mission," Butch said, accidentally selling them out.

Chris smiled that artificial smile that made Seth feel squeamish and placed his hand on Seth's shoulder.

"Of course, right this way, Mx. Drake." Chris didn't let go of Seth's shoulder until they were in Liv's office. Seth felt incredibly uncomfortable and was considering lodging a complaint, or kicking Chris in the crotch. Or both.

"Oh, hello, Seth. How may we help you today?" Liv had a pleasant smile but there seemed to be a coldness underneath it all.

"I'm actually okay, I should get back to work."

"Nonsense. You're clearly here for a reason. Chris?"

"They were poking around in Sycorax's business."

"I just asked Imogene and Butch what Sycorax does."

"Oh, that's quite simple. Sycorax changes lives."

"Respectfully," Seth said, "that sounds like corporate bullshit. Alistair Krei could say the same thing."

Liv laughed then, "Oh yes, he could. But for us, it's true. Stay after closing time today and we'll show you."

"Oh, actually I should get home to my girlfriend, she had a rough morning and I want to be with her." What Seth really wanted was to get out of this office as fast as possible.

Liv continued to smile, and Seth realized her boss was just as artificial as Chris.

"I wasn't asking, Seth." Seth's name badge briefly turned red and Seth felt a pit form in their stomach.

"I've got to get back to work," Seth said hastily, rushing out of the room. Seth pulled out their phone to call Morgan, or Fred, or someone, but their phone suddenly died, which was really, really strange. The lights flickered in the corridor and Seth could only hear their own rapidly beating heart and the sound of footsteps behind them. This was a horror movie, a nightmare. And worse still, this was proof that Morgan had been right.

Morgan didn't go to classes or work that day. She couldn't, she felt sick. She'd texted Seth several times throughout the day and didn't get a single response. She didn't really, truly freak out until two hours after Seth should have been home when she got a text from Bennet. He said that Seth had mentioned dropping by the shop and then had never gotten back to him.

Morgan called Bennet immediately after that.

"Ben, I think something is wrong. Seth isn't home yet, and they haven't responded to texts all day. I don't even know if they made it to work this morning."

"You have to call the police," Bennet said. That definitely wasn't Morgan's first choice.

"No, I need to keep a level head and try to find out what happened to Seth. I'll keep you updated, but please don't tell Sadie. I don't want her to worry, it could be nothing."

"I hate lying to Sadie," Bennet said, sounding distressed.

"Yeah, I know. But you won't have to lie for long. I'll find them."

"Just, be careful okay? Don't get in over your head and ask for help if you need it. Call the police or Big Hero 6 or someone. Because if Seth is in danger then they're going to need more than just your stubbornness to help them."

"I also have a baseball bat," Morgan mumbled. She had to joke to keep from breaking down.

"Call me if you need anything. If you need help. You're part of our family and all of us will be there for you if you call. I won't say anything to Sadie yet, just, keep in mind that we're here for you."

"I will, thank you. I'll figure it out. Don't worry." Bennet was still clearly worried.

When Bennet hung up, Morgan paced in front of the door as the cats played at her feet. She couldn't tell Bennet that she couldn't ask for help. She didn't deserve it. Her dream had been right. This was all her fault. She had to find Seth, she had to make sure that they were okay. She couldn't fail this time.
