"Ngh..." The girl softly groaned. Her eyes fluttered as she tried to pick her heavy body off the... bed? Then, a memory flashed through her mind in an instant, and the girl's eyes widened as realisation struck her like a sledgehammer, bringing back what happened that evening.
"Hey, you have been out for 6 hours 25 minutes exactly. You OK?" A voice sounded from the other side of the room, making the girl flinch.
"Relax, I'm not the bad guy here. Actually, you should be doing the opposite," the voice explained. Then, at the other side of the room, a shadow rose from the door, but as if superior than the other shadows, it made shadows it overlapped much darker and leaving a trail of it as the shadow approached the girl. She attempted to stand, but from the lack of full recovery and fear, she was rooted, unable to move a muscle. All she could do was brace herself. She shut her eyes in fear, trying to hold back her tears as the shadow stood right in front of her.
"Hey, don't be scared, I'm sure you want to know what happened," the voice assured, as a hand wearing a leather glove stretched out, gesturing for her to get up. Then, the girl heard a snap from the shadow, ridding of the darkness. Instead of a solid shadow, it was a man, wearing ajacket, with its colour black as if no light has ever made it back, with a white shirt inside, leather glovescovered his hand except his fingers, normal blue jeans, oddly designed shoes and an unforgettable, black fedora. The girl took his hand with her right hand, and she shrieked in shock. Her right hand was red flesh. It worked perfectly fine, but it looked like it was part of a monstrosity.
"Don't panic just yet, i still haven't told you what's going on here," The man said in a joking manner. "Introductions first. My name is Omni,"
"I-uh.. my... my name is... Echo..." she stammered. "I liv-"
"i know all about your details, don't need you to tell me anything." Omni interrupted. Echo stared in confusion before collapsing back onto the bed, lying. Omni clapped his hands
"First things first, what do you want to know?"
"Everything,"
"Be more specific." Echo sighed.
"What happened? Where am I? How's the-"
"What happened? Simple. You were killed. Specifically by Yharim's troops. Where are you? On a cloud that's part of the crimson. How's the village? You are a lone survivor." Omni explained.
"Then explain this!" Echo demanded, raising her right hand.
"Remember, before you died, you fell into the corruption. Apparently, the corruptors you met, they brought you to the crimson, resurrected you. You are given a second chance at life, from pity from the two world evils. The only side effect, is that hand." Omni explained without faltering. "Its the truth, but you don't have to believe in it. I'll leave you alone to ingest this information. Will be coming back later, the Brain wants to talk to you."
"The brain?" Echo asked.
"The Brain of Chuthulu, after all, he was the one who revived you. Hmm, now that I think about it, the Brain usually isn't like this, but I suppose everyone has their own sides." Omni said. Then, Echo grabbed Omni's jacket.
"Wait, how do you know all this- Who are you, exactly?" Echo questioned.
"I am an omnipotent, I travel to multiple different universes, sometimes at the request for him. Other than specific requests, I do not keep secrets, they are bound to know them one day. I study timelines, just for fun and interest." Omni replied. "Now, if you excuse me, I have other things to settle. Take a rest for, 24 hours I'd say." Then, Omni disappeared through the door, leaving Echo to wonder... what happens next now?
"Welp, guess I'll go sleep then, only thing I can do..." she thought, before hitting her head on the pillow and falling asleep...
14 hours later, Echo woke up and stretched. As she got off the bed, she looked down to see if only her hand was the price to pay for revival. Then she noticed that her clothes has changed, into a soft, white shirt with black cargo jeans.
"You like it? I changed it for you," Omni said, suddenly appearing in front of her. Taken aback from his sudden appearance, she nodded, but oddly blushing.
"Y-y-you... what? Changed it for m-me?" Echo stuttered. Omni nodded.
"Yeah, I specialize in coding. Universes are nothing but a bunch of codes from the Big Bang, with unparalleled data flowing and forming all the processes. With a quick change of coding, anything is possible, like air into coffee, to pure gold, or stardust." Omni explained, bringing up a digital tab with an impossible-to-read binary coding. "It's also what I research in."
"O-oh... ok... well, thank you, I'd appreciate this..." Echo mumbled.
"C'mon, the Brain is requesting for your presence." Omni said," Come, I'll show you a short cut. Just close your eyes."
Echo closed her eyes as instructed, but being unable to resist the temptation, she opened her eyes immediately, and was beyond words. They were already at their destination: a dark yet lit corridor with bloody fleshy walls with many branching paths and grotesque monsters scurrying about, seemingly in panic, back and forth from the straight main corridor. As Echo strolled along the corridor, she dragged her hand along the walls with her right hand, observing that they were almost of the same flesh. Attempting to shrug off that possibility, the duo found themselves in a large room after dropping down a sudden end that had a hole.
"Oww..." Echo mumbled. Looking back, Omni dropped down without any problem. Sighing at his "showoff", Echo picked herself up to rub pain off her arm, but as she looked around, she awed at the grandness of the room. Though there wasn't a throne, the decor, sheer size and guards implied that this was indeed, a throne room. Whilst looking around, admiring the surroundings despite it being a disgusting biome, Echo noticed that the other half of the room was purple. At the border that separated the two, the red and purple crept into each other's territory. The cave rumbled. Echo looked around in panic, trying to identify the source of the tremor before a giant worm with eyes on its segments dug out of the ground into the cave. However, a presence seem to appear out of nowhere behind her. As she turned around, a giant detached brain with tentacles flailing around and a heart with an eye to the left, hovering behind and above her.
"This? The terrarian we pitied on? Doesn't look promising." The worm said aloud. It sounded disgusting, plus it was as if a hundred voices were speaking in unison.
"Indeed, although I see the contrary inside her," The brain said, with its loud, booming voice, as if the superior one. Echo trembled in fear. They were like judges, the ones to choose her fate.
"These big guys are basically the boss of the world evils." Omni explained. "The worm is the Eater of Worlds, while the brain is, well, I mentioned before, the Brain of Chuthulu. Yes, they did opt for your revival."
Echo slowly nodded.
"So... what do you want from me?" She asked.
"Not to be... how to say, blunt, but the fact that you are given a second chance by us means you are technically part of us, hence you cannot deny any requests from either the corruption or crimson. I hope this doesn't inconvenience you." The Brain explained. Before opening her mouth to protest, she wondered for a while, before giving up and not wanting to know the consequences of that proposal. Hence, with a sigh, she accepted her fate.
"Currently, we have no requests. Just because you are part of us does not give us the permission to abuse your idle status. You led a normal life, we give you a so-called new normal. I hope you understand." The Brain said. After adjourning the audience and a sulking Eater of Worlds, Echo left the throne room through a different exit, where Omni was waiting outside of.
"Since when did you come out?" Echo questioned. Omni merely shrugged and smirked, slightly irritating Echo. Snaping his fingers, both of them teleported to a clearing, with a Shadewood forest behind them. In front was a cliff view of a large town. Echo immediately identified it as one of Yharim's main cities, or trade cities: nothing more than a military controlled base disgusted as a lively city with citizens who think that this is home. However, having come here before in the past, she begin plotting what she could steal for her own benefit as they jogged downhill into the city border.
