I rose my heavy body up and sat on the bed, half asleep. Taking a kettle and a cup from the nightstand that definitely was not there before, i filled it up with water and felt like i was using all of my strength just to drink it. After resisting the urge to fall back and back to sleeping, I stood up and instinctively pulled the curtains that also wasn't there before, allowing warm, energising sunlight to flood. I stretched myself and sighed. Hiding my smile when I opened the door to the living room, Omni was unusually missing. I frowned, so I left the hillside to once again bathe in sunlight. Looking back, the foundation for a modernised town was looking great. Omni was levitating, with what looks to be a digital blueprint. He waved, while I trudged up the hill.
"Hey, need help with anything?" I greeted.
"Morning to you. I don't really need help, so maybe go take a shower." He replied without looking at the solid, self constructing foundation.
"What if its loud?" I asked in a joking manner.
"You don't wake up in the middle of the night right?"
I blew a raspberry before basically hopping my way down back into the house.
A few hours later in the house, I was in my room after a relaxing shower. Never had makeup, so a first time for that. Braiding my hair, I caught a glimpse of my right hand. It still looks rotted at stuff but it still doesn't feel right. I unexpectedly found myself perplexed for no reason.
Is all of this supposed to happen? I don't even know anymore.
Once again out in the field, I looked back at the top of the hill. I was surprised to see the foundation fully built, although it looked like it was meant to support a small amout of people. I was about to ask Omni something but he seemingly knew and asked,
"What do you think would fit well in this enviroment for this building?"
I pondered over it before replying "bricks". He nodded slowly, stared blankly before continuing.
"Why don't ya catch a break for today? I think I've got something later..." Omni said. Usually that would arouse some suspicion, but I didn't care. It was rare free time I had to myself.
Looking through my hammer-space-like slingbag that i do not remember having, I see a fishing rod, some bait and... a stack of cards? I took the stack out. It was thick, yet digital-like, very futuristic. The back of the cards had some writing, but it was indescribable. And for no apparent reason, too. Was it some weapon? Was it... never mind.
Shaking off those thoughts, I happily strolled along the forest, although i brisked through the corruption forest. I unexpectedly found myself in damp mud. The air was humid and the trees was of a different shade. Further ahead, there were odd holes enough to fit a person into the darkness. Shuddering at such thoughts, I continued.
I have heard of such biomes in the legends of the many Terrarians elders back in my village have told. So if I were to guess, this was the Jungle biome. Suddenly, a bat came flying towards me. With no time to react, the snall bastard managed to headbutt me hard. I was of course, knocked back onto the mud. About to charge at me again, I panicked and threw one of the cards in the best way I could. . .
.
.
.
I opened my eyes. The card was nowhere to be seen, but the bat was definitely dead. It wasn't through the middle, neither was it pretty. But I was facinated by the fact that both split sides' cut was clean. I left the corpse there, as well as my bewilderment as I continued towards the forest(once again).
My shoe was getting kind of uncomfortable. Attempts to ignore fail, so I took off my shoe and turned it upside down. A few grains of sand dropped... wait, sand? I quickly put on my shoe and looked up and forward. The Ocean! My dream place to visit in the world, where I decided my safe haven, my escape from reality would be. I laughed heartedly. Finally... within five minutes which did not feel like long, I have successfully made a small shack supported by trees, with a secret way that only i knew how to get up. Jumping high and off the trees, like it did back in the days. Somehow, the shack was well equipped with a small kitchen and a small mat to call bed. there was also a balcony-like ledge that I could simply sit and try fishing for the first time, away from any danger... which was what I did.
As I looked over the tranquil waters that stretched till the curved horizon, the sun was sinking slowly, having it burst golden rays into the sky as half of the sun disappears from the horizon. Looking into the ice mirror, I found myself back in my bedroom. Omni was in the living room, as if he was expecting me.
"I saw what you did by the beach, not bad kid," He said.
"Really? Thanks... wasn't that much of a creative person... anyway, I caught some sea life, you want me to cook instead?"
"I doubt it'd be edible."
"H-hey, what gives-"
"Besides, I don't need sustenance to survive, have you not observed that I only made one serving meals for you?"
"Uhm... no..."
"Well then, good for you, naive child."
"Hmph, ok..."
"Aren't you gonna make dinner?"
"At least teach me how to do it,"
Long story short, the experience of learning how to cook went really well, definitely not what I was expecting.
Just when I thought I could enjoy the rest of the night, dinner tasted kind of weird, and when I asked Omni what he had done, he explained that he secretly placed bits of heart crystals that's meant to increase my health. Of course I attempted to complain, but he of course shrugged it off. Retreating back to my room with the thought of a terrible diarrhoea on the way, I laid in bed, reading a book that contained a nice story plus a few odd symbols.
A few hours later, I had a feeling I should check the chests out side. However, in the living room, it was refurbished to total comfort. By opening random doors and checking their contents, most of them were clean and empty, I finally found what I was looking for, odd forges and boxes with different coloured circles in the middle of all sides. Once again, the search begins, curiously looking through the materials stored within the storages.
The door swings open. I look back as Omni's puzzled expression stared back at what I was doing.
"Uh, is this not to be tempered... with...?" I slowly asked.
"No... just odd to see you see something somewhat productive other than stealing food I put away," He replied as he points, "What you are probably looking for is in the other storage unit."
Looking through the other top storage unit, a few oddly coloured grenades could be seen. Through more digging, I found that roughly half of the unit were these grenades. I smiled as I equipped them. To my reluctance, Omni said that we had to do something. In the middle of the night as well! I could take a good sleep at this point of time. But, feeling motivated with newly obtained items under the belt, I rushed out the door with Omni.
After traversing a few biomes, we found ourselves in the forest biome except at night. Looming over us was the overlooked dungeon with the old man sitting. The old structure looks extremely menacing, a shiver was sent down my spine as we approached the entrance by stairs. The old man sat there with his eyes closed, as if concentrating on something.
Approaching the old man was most likely not the best idea, as the old man without reacting somehow sensed our presence and attempted to shoo us away, implying that we are "too weak" and that we should not meddle with his affairs. Don't know what affairs an old man with rags would have but as soon as we closed distance, the old man suddenly collapsed on the floor and scrambled on all fours, begging and pleading what seemed nonsense to me.
"Please, battle my captor and free me! I beg of you" something like that.
A book from one of the bookshelves fell out and opened up. I merely looked at it and recited some words out of curiosity. Suddenly, the old man went limp. The whole dungeon was like shaking, as if tremors were made from something enormous emerging from the dungeon. It felt like something ominous and heavy went overhead, and the old man then acted like he had a seizure, then either transformed or burst out a huge ass skeleton with only the skull and arms magically levitating and connected, with blood gushing out of them.
Still stunned and taken aback from what happened, the huge bodyless skeleton took its chance to lunge its boney arms at me, knocking me back into the grass. I grunted, wiping away the dirt off myself before picking up myself. Holding one of those grenades I took from the storage units, I threw it, and it exploding at the skull's chin and releasing tons of bees that rapidly attacked the arms. Having a number of beenades allowed me to fire at will and being able to correct errors.
After a while and a barrage of angry bees, one of the arms broke off. Feeling light hearted, but then small skulls then shot out, homing towards me. Yelping didn't help, and getting hit by them was painful. Attempting to catch my breath, I supported myself against one of the dungeon's pillars. But the fight wasn't over as I dodged another lunge from the arm which almost collapsed the pillar that could have crushed me.
"I need a... bit of... assistance maybe?" I said breathlessly when I landed in front of Omni.
"The answer already is with you," He merely replied.
A stroke of inspiration hit me as I continued to dodge Skeletron's attacks. Ruffling through my inventory, then taking out the mysterious stack of solid-digital cards. Swipe. Got one card. Threw it at the large skull. Like the previous result, it cleanly sliced through the boss. Before I knew it, Skeletron were reduced to a pile of bones and a treasure bag. My fatigue was just gone. Just awe at what happened. My eyes out of nowhere stung, and I had to leak a bit of tears and wipe it off.
"That was exhilarating," I said with a smile. The adrenaline was slowly draining away, but I still had strength, but my legs were aching.
"Really? Care for another one then," Omni said as he walked over. Waving his fingers, the loot from the boss' corpse flew over. "The Sulpherous Sea may have changed, but I guess we can deal with that another time."
"...What?"
"Yeah,"
"Yeah, uh, I prefer my skin to be smooth and stuff-"
"Nah, you're going in there with a diving suit."
Which I where he left me babbling. I'm dreading to that day... but for now, a well deserved break.
I adjusted the trophy on the wall. Sun was shining, looked great for surface exploration, but Omni had other plans.
"We go down?" I asked as I looked over the dark hole.
"Yes, but preparation is everything, no?" He replied. Once again searching in the storage units, I found the right unit and flipping it, making all the contents fall out. Ignoring Omni's disbelief at my mess, I picked up some useful items.
"Terraspark boots. Great for traversing the elements. Don't tell anyone though, it's quite illegal in this world."
"Impressive,"
"Cloud in a bottle, if you already don't have one"
"Is that meant to be an insult?"
"Yes, unfortunately. Anyway, lastly is uh, some dynamite."
"Wait, what, why?!"
"Cuz... you have to do something with it."
I sighed as I took the few stacks of dynamite. As we approached the hole. Omni explained that its going to be a long journey down.
"Follow my lead," He said before jumping down the hole. With some anxiety, I jumped down along with him.
While falling, I tried my best to avoid and ledges that would break my legs in an instant, but Omni convinced me that it would be fine.
"But what would break my fall?"
"I'll catch you."
"Really? After all you've done?"
"Honestly, yeah."
With that information, I felt relieved. Seeing what was in the deep caverns actually was a pleasant surprise. But it was also getting hotter. But it also reminded me of the legends I listened. About Terrarians descent into what was called the Underworld: a place under the deepest of caverns. It held oceans of fresh lava with crippled buildings made of obsidian, with mages with fire magic immune to literal fire. Often times, ore could be found atop of the Underworld, however, sacrifices were a nessecity to progress. To make... more sacrifices... wow, that didn't make sense. Anyway, Omni slowed his fall and set his hands behind me which I didn't feel quite right about. Then somehow, we were on a platform that looked really badly built.
I wiped the sweat of my head, but it wouldn't stop.
"How can you withstand this outrageous heat with such clothing?" I panted.
"Well, it's a hard concept to grasp but basically omnipotence."
He gave me an ice cube which surprisingly didn't melt and my hand feels at room temperature.
"Since there is no Guide, but I am technically your Guide, but I can't die..."
"Just get straight to the point."
He hands over a doll that I have commonly seen around my village except it was... fleshy.
"When you are ready, throw it into the lava." Omni said behind me."If you need me, I'll be here."
My fingers wrapped around the warm fleshy doll. The ice cube was gone, but the heat was not coming. My hand was trembling. Should I do it? Something bad is about to happen. I just know it... whatever, forget it.
I threw the doll into the ocean of lava below me and I heard the dreaded 'plop' of lava; the sound of it burning and consumed in the hot magma. Then, in behind me, a roar so loud, yet so damp. At this point, my entire self was trembling. I don't want to see what kind of monstrosity is right behind me. But I turned anyway.
Never before have I been so terrified, as I turned around to see a massive wall with grotesque mouths in random spots and bloodshot eyes in also random areas. Fumbling around my inventory, I found the stack of cards again. Attempting to pull a card and throw it at the Wall of Flesh, a few beenades fell out in the process. Then I threw... nothing. No projectile flying in the air to instantly kill anything. I stared in disbelief before picking up the beenades I dropped and started to run. As I ran, I realised the bridge built in front as poorly made, as i stepped onto the now ash bridge. Looking up was a bad idea, almost stepping into a lava puddle that somehow got there. The Wall of Flesh seemed to stretch vertically, I could not even see the top or the end of the Wall. The Wall then started to loo odd, some of its smaller mouths are missing, before one of them, on a flesh string attached to the Wall chased me. Startle, I stepped back, losing my momentum and speed. Luckily, the bridge turned to ice(that somehow didnt melt), causing me to slide and thus letting me keep my speed. With the Terraspark Boots Omni gave me, I skated through the ice, increasing my speed and throwing more bee barrages into the fleshy wall. Then some mouths detached. Unable to predict their moves, I tried to go faster. Unexpectedly, the Wall of Flesh accelerated, and so did laser shots from its eyes. Luckily, the bridge then had a wall that could block most of the boss' projectiles. I hid behind the walls to catch my breath. Accidentally dropping a live dynamite stick, I ran further and were more walls. Looking back, the dynamite exploded, dealing massive damage. I tried to repeat what I did, however, there was something solid in front of me. I tried to push it, before turning around and finding out that it was one of the obsidian buildings. I tried to mine through it, but the Wall rapidly approaching caused me to panick. With the mouth close to me, I was certain this was my doom. Then, I felt something wrapped around my neck, and pushed and crashed me through the obsidian building. However, no bridge was left, letting my last spark of hope disappear.
At this point, I was exhausted. Falling into one of the many oceans of lava, thoughts raced across my mind, but only one prevailed and accepted my fate. Death. The things I would lose would be quickly replaced by Omni, I would come back just the same, and, well, start this fight again.
Omni then appeared in front of me, with some dirt to soften my fall. From the stack of cards that failed me eariler, he pulled out multiple and threw all of them at the . I merely stared in awe as materialises his scythe and swung once as a gust of wind brought me to me up. Not even a single trace of the Wall of Flesh was left.
Tired, I collapsed on to the nearby ash hill. Omni walked up towards me. Same as ever, he dropped the treasure bag. Then, teleported back home.
"I'm not letting die here," He said with a smile as he left my room.
seems like there was some sort of error in the 4th chapter. Overlook it, please...
