I feel awful that this didn't get attention for almost a decade.
I am returning to all my works in an effort to finish them.
If there is any interest in this still then I hope you stay with me I also want to thank all of those who reviewed all those years ago! I read them now and they motivate me. Some may have noticed I added a pairing. This will more than likely hint at Irma/Cornelia without any outright reference to them for now unless I change my mind.
By the fourth night of the week Will decided it might be time to confide in the rest of her friends. This time the older man had appeared clearer to her. He resembled a knight of medieval times with various nicks and scars across his worn hands and his chin. Will first tried ignoring him but eventually she caved in impatience and began interrogating him.
Who are you?
A soldier.
Where are you from?
A place you know.
What's your name?
...Aldrick He responded with a quirk of his lips. It made Will angry and glare down viscously at him.
Are you another faction of Phobos?
No.
Simple one word answers that left her grinding her teeth. She considered needing to talk with Elyon but then what about school? Will blew at her bangs and left it alone for now before she thought herself into circles.
Despite appearing to sleep through the night these dreams caused her to feel more and more exhausted. She began to consider that it might be draining her energy in some way or a teleportation of some kind? That she was actually awake within the space instead of being asleep entirely?
Thinking about it by herself made the migraines worse and finally as she got ready that morning she decided to ask the group after all.
"Kinda creepy." Irma said in distaste idly messing with the items of her lunch: an apple, a sandwich, a water bottle and two straws. "Ugh, It's been two years and it's been pretty quiet are you sure we have any kind of issue?" Irma grumbled chewing on her straw slumped over her seat at lunch.
"We need to always be vigilant." Hay Lin imparted lightly neither agreeing to action or inaction.
"We can't just sit around Irma, we have a duty." Taranee said having no qualms in chiding her friend.
Cornelia remained impassive focusing on her food. Since her abrupt end with Caleb and the loss of contact with Elyon her closest friend Cornelia's spirits had been a bit down and Irma constantly combated it by driving the blonde nuts with her antics and teasing. The brown haired girl now eyed her friend picking up another straw she brought with her tearing the top of the paper lifting it to her mouth she blew strongly and the paper shot straight into the side of Cornelia's head. The blonde's eyebrow twitched in irritation and she straightened,
"We've taken the backseat approach before with Phobos and that didn't go particularly well. If you're getting warnings before hand we should investigate." She finished with a flick of her wrist sending the ground under Irma's chair to shift and the water Irma had been drinking spilled on her shirt. Irma tsked at her and moved her hand around to the spot of water on her shirt and into a napkin but she smiled to herself having noticed the brighter shade to Cornelia's eyes.
"Whatever we decide we do it together. Plus, I have a feeling you already have something in mind." Irma said off handedly.
Will considered each of their opinions. Whatever they do she knew it would have to be decided as a group. Each of them have already lost too much in their past struggle. If only it had stayed small incidents of creatures escaping and they could graduate quietly. The agitation rose again starting in the pit of Will's stomach and she bit on her thumb nail willing it back down.
After a moment she breathed and looked at them.
"OK. Let's try to figure this out as much as we can. If not...we just have to be as ready as possible." She told them and they grimly nodded.
