The sun had started to set and Ash, Riley and May were more than ready for arguably the most dangerous night in their lives. Having gone over their scouting plan and a pre night nap to get them through it they were ready to test their skills to the limit. The three heroes were now on top of Lila's building. Concealing the shut door that led to the secret gym from on top they were ready to head out separately.
"You all remember the plan?" Riley wanted to go over things one more time. Both younger people nodded yes knowing what's expected of them tonight. Ash started off by saying the thing he and Riley had agreed on.
"Do your patrol and if you run into one try and lure it towards May and Glaceon."
"And when you come to us I'll freeze him solid and keep it imprisoned in ice."
May being a crucial part of the plan. Glaceon's powers were perfect for trapping since the ice had a density even a power lifter would have trouble breaking with a pickaxe and ice prisons out of nowhere. She normally refrained from trapping criminals in them to stay hidden but with her making more appearances and sightings can be a bit more cold on them.
"You three ready?"
"Ready!"
Hearing the wailing of the alarms all around the city the three all looked up and around for a hint of why the sirens went off. The sirens only playing on the first Monday of the month at noon to see if they were still working. Nowhere close to the first Monday or noon itself it was an emergency that warned everyone in town to seek shelter.
A news helicopter flew over the city and informed people what's been happening.
"People of Veilstone City! Lock all windows and doors and seek shelter immediately! A prison break has occurred and we advise to not go out till further notice! Barricade yourselves in and try to arm yourselves with any blunt and sharp objects you can find! Do not engage the escapees by any means necessary if they manage to breach the perimeter! The authorities are doing everything to keep them in order!"
"A prison break!?" Ash and May yelled.
"Change of plans! Go to the prison! Each one of you take a wing, clean it then move to the next one immediately!" Glaceon telling them their search for the necromancer had to wait. Something more important came up that couldn't be ignored. The necromancer had priority but they just couldn't let this slide. What point is there removing the biggest risk if the city was burning while they were playing hide and seek with the raiser of the dead.
"What if we come against the revived men?" Riley asked the spirit for advice. Another city scale event like this could mean they were involved in this too.
"Your choice. But please don't take them all on at once." Even Glaceon with all her experience was a loss for idea's. Any second they wasted talking a crime was committed or a prison guard threatened and murdered. The prison a few miles outside the most populated area's of Veilstone City the three guessed it would take about 15 minutes to get there. They had to go across a forest area for a few miles which might slow down their progress due to their inexperience with venturing through the trees and other fauna.
At the prison compound the alarms were ringing and screams of grunting and pain were on full display. The prisoners doors gad opened and with the sheer amount of numbers compared to the guards in the place, they quickly overwhelmed the workers physically with their larger numbers.
The prisoners took guards hostage to prevent being shot at. Having human shields against the snipers that should prevent anyone from escaping it was almost impossible to get a clear shot.
"Seal the exits first!" The remaining prison workers were rushing to close off every gate. Some prisoners had already escaped and headed out to stealing transports and right now another wave was looking to get out by commandeering a vehicle by force. The prisoners overpowering the guards on the parking lot by numbers took possession of a prison bus.
The engine starting up the driver slammed on the gas peddle. The bus drove away with squealing tires headed to the gate and the highway that would lead back to Veilstone City.
"We're going to celebrate this with a lot of booze boys! First store we see is getting pillaged!" The men inside cheered at the prospect at getting wasted. Slapping each other on the backs at nearing their freedom a white blueish substance came down from the gate they wanted to drive through closing off the exit.
"WHAT'S THAT!?" Before the driver could touch the brakes the truck he was driving smashed bumper first into the exit. The driver in the front seat got his head saved by the airbags in the vehicle but still was shook from the massive impact. His cohorts in the bus weren't as lucky as bodies flew to the front due to the massive G-force and not wearing their seatbelts.
"The exit has been blocked off. At least they can't go into the city." From the top of the archway above the gate Glaceon created a solid wall of ice. This structure should be enough to hold back any others from escaping.
All of them dressed in an orange jumpsuit with numbers on the back, some stumbled out the wrecked truck visibly shocked from the impact. Recognizing some of the faces as part of the group she and Ash beat down the evening of the mass kidnapping she gladly would throw back into their cells again. May clenched her fists wanting another opportunity to smash their face in for what they did to her mom and friends parents but Glaceon held her back.
"Focus on strengthening your structure. Let the guardians deal with the ones left."
Two dark blue figures landed in the middle of the disoriented group of escapees. The escapees unable to comprehend the blue flashes punched everything in sight. Bodies flew all around into other people making it harder for the criminals to get closer. Lucario and Greninja wasted not a second punching and kicking people dressed in prison uniforms.
"Is that a wolf!?"
"Kill it!"
"STUPID FROG!"
The escapees swing back in retaliation but none could lay a hand on the aura guardians. The two moving in sync and covering each others backs they swept up nearly everyone that came out of the truck.
"Chill out!" Glaceon jumped down from the gateway and slammed her feet down on the ground and encasing everyone wearing the orange outfit around the aura guardians.
"So…oooo…col…." Another complained about being frozen from shoulder to toe. They all tried to break free from their encasing but the ice just wouldn't budge. The men who were guarding that wing all cowered separately. Even if the three help was appreciated they were still unsure what to make of it. The three heard all of them murmur saying something on the lines of are they the ones the news mentioned recently and were involved with the main events
"What are you people?!" A prison guard tending to a colleague covered in blood and all pointed a baton at them.
"We're here to help." Ash underneath his new mask said. Moving backwards to give them the space they needed he raised his hands showing he didn't wanted to hurt them.
"Uhm…" The guards were still doubting it. Even it was clear to the prison personnel they were responsible for avoiding worse the three were still an unknown.
"Please help us. We can't waste a second." Glaceon asked another as compassionate as she could hoping the reputation she recently build up worked in her favor.
"What do you want to know?" Another man more agreeable to help them and also scared that he will end up the same as the escapees took a chance. Maybe with their aid they could limit the number of men unleashed in the city who did manage to slip out.
"How many entrees and exits are there in this place?" Glaceon asked. If she knew all the open points she can seal them off with her ice like she did here.
"Which way are they?" The wolf asked as the guard pointed in two directions knowing the prison layout like the back of his hand.
"That way."
"You two spread out! Block those exits!" Lucario told the other two as the radio of one of the guards switched on.
"Two prison transports have escaped! We have an open gate we're unable to close! Require back up at the East wing immediately! Also inside prisoners managed to get their hands on weapons and ammo in the main mess hall!" The message repeating again for people who haven't heard it the first time the panic was visibly noticeable.
"You're faster than both of us. Get those transports and get back here as soon as you took them down." May said to Ash. Her and Riley should be enough to deal with things around here.
"On it!" The frog jumped up without hesitation trusting his partners with a speed the prison guards were stunned by. The news reported characters like them being around but seeing them in person breaking the laws of nature was something else entirely. With the frog leaving the prison area to chase the trucks the wolf turned back to the guards.
"What happened?"
"Somebody activated the fire alarm. The doors opened as a safety procedure so the prisoners can get out of their cells and not get burned alive. Normally there's a protocol to make sure the guards are safe but the doors opened without warning." Riley making sure he'd investigate it after neutralizing the prisoners. Maybe the dead puppets had something to do with it since a lot of the people he recognized. Maybe the search wasn't off just yet.
"Can you do us a favor? Tell your coworkers not to shoot at us." Lucario left after it going to secure the final wing.
A firefight broke out at the supply area. Normally where food and items were brought in the place was now a scene for a firefight. Escapees managed to overwhelm and disarm some of the guards taking their weapons and keycards. Having gained access to the armory some of them stayed while others went back and forth bringing all sorts of goodies to use.
Large pillars of ice shot out of the floor. Everyone wearing orange had their hands and weapons stuck in the pillar unable to move. Pulling the trigger bullets did leave the guns barrel but were stopped by the dense material the pillars were made off.
"The hell!?" The criminals trying to fire through it the weapons no longer worked.
"I'll tell to freeze but you already did that." The icy heroine joked as she landed in the middle of them. Having taken care off her wing already she figured it's better to see if Riley's section was already blocked off. Turning around she saw the people peeking over at her appearance.
"Don't worry! With how cold it is it should freeze the gunpowder in the bullets! They're not firing anymore!"
She said as the weapon transferred the cold into the magazines in the guns. When she got into a skirmish involving weaponry this was her favorite way to disable the firearms in her own unique way. Either the materials the weapon was made off would break from the low temperatures and crack or the bullets be nothing more but blanks.
"I need to get into the main mess hall! What's the quickest way in and yes any route will do!"
"The fastest way to get there is through that window. It lands you in a cell that looks over the mess hall if you step out."
A guard pointing to a window the girl said nothing. While people were slowly coming out of their hiding pointing their weapons at the frozen criminals the ice heroine stomped on the ground as a large ice block shot out and launched the girl upwards on the side of the prison wall.
May had taken a grasp of one of the bars and windows on the prison wall. Hanging off the bars she created a foothold on the wall out of the window. Touching the steel bars and window they shifted color. The bars turning a whitish blue she broke off the bars by pulling the ice part out. Smashing her fist in the window part the ice broke leaving an entry for her. With her small body she jumped inside with her feet landing in a cell. The door still open she had to work from here while Riley would make his way through the other side.
The guards stunned at the display had their jaws open in amazement. Easily tearing off the bars and slipping inside seeing the ice structure she used to jump up it spelled a word for them to read.
"Glaceon. What's on earth is a Glaceon?"
To which another responded that he can care less as long as he wasn't the target of her icy chill proving he choose the correct side of the law.
Not much to say but it being late. At least I know how the next few chalters are going to go.
See you around.
