CHAPTER-3

Another month passed away, Maul was feeding the child. It was growing stronger with the Force day by day. After feeding he made the child burp and placed it in the cradle leaving the droid with the rest duties. He then left to meet his master who was at the door. He opened the door and let him in. Sidious would come once in each month. He came in and Maul closed the door behind him. The two Sith sat in the hall. The master started the conversation.

"So is the child asleep?"

"Yes."

"Hmm, I have managed to hold my position as the senator of Naboo till now."

"I saw the news."

"Hmm, soon I shall be closer to the queen in regards to decisions regarding the system and everything."

"Hmm."

"There is nothing else for now."

"What about him?"

"What about whom?"

"Plagieus."

"Ah, THAT still has to be dealt with."

"How long?"

"What?"

"How long will it take?"

"Patience Maul, patience. We need to strike at the right time."

"Yes Master. I apologize."

"It is all right."

Sidious leaned back at his chair. The life of a politician was never easy. Especially if you were innocent then life could be horrible. Lucky for him, he had the dark side. As the child grew, the fog he was creating to block the Jedi's visions became stronger. The dark side was growing stronger. Soon the Jedi would die and Sidious would be there to see it. He used the dark side to keep increasing his life. Nobody knew his secrets other than Maul. This was why he had to be eliminated. He was a good assassin but he knew a lot. The knowledge Maul had regarding him was dangerous. Not even his own master, Plagieus knew that much about him.

Another month passed away, the child was now three months old. Maul was looking over it as it slept. He kept a vigil watch. Suddenly the child turned over. Maul was excited. The droid too beeped with excitement. Maul then gave it a warning look as it seemed as though the child would almost get up. The child continued to sleep. The two let out a sigh of relief. The droid then looked after the child while he left to meditate. He sat in the open balcony admiring the nature of the planet. Naboo was a beautiful system. The natural environment was way more pleasant than the environment which would be found on Dathomir. The mere memory of the planet made Maul have his self-conflicting thoughts. This time it was more confusing. He felt the light side in the centre of his force signature. Though it made up a small part, it was disturbing. Why would this blob show up now? Why didn't it show up long ago when his mother had decided to give him to Sidious? At least he would have a better life. Why didn't the Jedi find him? He then turned towards the room where the child was. Why was its destiny stuck with the Sith? The more he thought on it, the darker the child's future would be. If the child was to be born and to die as a Sith then why did Maul see a bright light in the middle of her future. The force showed him her future by auras. He could only sense and see the light and the dark side. Maybe it was the work of his Master. But he knew the Force would never lie to its children. So it must be true.

Another month passed away. The child was now rolling in the bed. It would often roll over and try to crawl. Maul and the droid made sure to record all of this. They kept it in the droid's databank. He would often stay up with the child for four to five hours a day. He would look after it. As it grew, it grew stronger with the force. Maul could often feel the force pulsating through it. Plagieus was not yet dead. Maul often enquired his Master regarding the plan, but he would only answer it with "Patience Maul, patience." Patience, Maul was raised not to sit with patience. Patience was a useful and deadly weapon. It was mainly the weapon of the Jedi. He loved how the first Jedi purge occurred; it was swift and deadly. He would love to do that. He would love to just barge inside the temple and kill every single Jedi with his own hands. He would love to rip the hearts of each and every Jedi with his own hands. But then he had to patient. With only patience did the Sith defeat the Jedi in the first place. With only patience did his master and his master before him observe the Jedi and study them. With only that study did they come up with the plan to burn the Jedi and take control of the Republic. Soon the Sith would use their own weapon and destroy the entire Jedi order. Sure this would be a good tale to regale to the future Sith students.

Another month passed away. The child began to crawl around now. Imagine a five month infant to tire a Sith assassin. Maul would often get infuriated and would end up tying the child to the droid. The droid would start squealing and protesting. Listening to its pathetic squeals the child would start crying. Maul would then have to go further and comfort it. He would carry it around and showing it the palace. It would comfort the child. The droid would then ready its tub for bath. Of all the works giving the child a bath was the biggest and the most difficult task. Though the droid showed him how to do it, Maul struggled. Mainly because he was afraid something would happen to the child. Giving it a bath now was hectic. The child once placed in the tub would start splashing water all around. It would never sit still. Whenever Maul would try scrubbing it with soap, the child would often throw the soap. It was way more difficult than any exercise he had ever done. Putting it to sleep was an even more hectic work. It would never sleep until he placed it on his chest and read it a story. Sometimes even after doing that it would never sleep. It would be awake and would start crawling all around. Maul would often use the force and make it stay in one room. It was a hyper active child. After all the work he would go to clean himself. He then would go to the hall and clear out the mess; toys thrown here and there, things thrown here and there. It was indeed a mess. After clearing out the mess, he would meditate; letting the dark side flow through him. He then would go and rest.

Back on Tatooine, Shmi did all she could to save her son. The old lady who was a mother figure to her and all of them there had died. She was upset on her death. She often stayed awake pondering how her second child would be. She doubted whether it was alive or not. She was happy that her son was alive and with its mother.
