May had a family thing to take care of after Ash and Dawn took over her shift. Her mothers birthday was coming up and she wanted to get her a gift. Who knows what type of threat came around cause evil never sleeps and she did not want her mom to go without a gift even if she was being piled up by people who want to kill her. Having decided on some flowers she could use Glaceon's help in picking the right one.
She walked through the flower store to see what was on offer so she at least could place an order to deliver it on her mothers birthday. Looking around the colors of the flowers were a contrast against most of the steel and concrete of the city. The sweet scents came into her nose. The refreshing smell of flowers and plants were much more pleasant over the gas fumes of cars in the streets.
"Why can't Veilstone City smell like this?" Going to the roses section all sorts were on display from the classic red to a lovely blue. She bended down and smelled them.
"Pick the blue and white ones."
"You just want those since those are our colors." Not being fooled by her spirit she looked around further. Her eyes fell on a bunch of yellow flowers. Her mothers favorite color is yellow and it seemed the brunette liked them as well.
"Great choice." May heard from across her shoulder as she turned round.
"If you're looking for flowers with the season coming up I suggest these. They still have to fully bloom."
A boy with green hair and green eyes wearing a black shirt and blue jeans also wore gardening gloves on his hands. A nametag belonging to the store he worked at May saw his name is Drew. He carried himself with confidence but not bordering on arrogance.
Breathing for some reason started to get tougher and her heartbeat increased similar to how she exerted herself as Glaceon. May composed herself over the strange feeling that came over her.
"They're actually for my moms birthday. I know which ones she loves but maybe you can suggest some others?" A professionals opinion wouldn't hurt plus she liked hearing him and see his lips move to speak.
"I'm Drew."
"I saw your nametag. I'm May. Nice to meet you." May's blue eyes continued to look over him. Drew smirked seeing her checking him out and played along with her.
"Why are you staring?"
"I thought we were doing a staring contest. Maybe if I beat you I get a discount." May shot back. She didn't get what this boy is doing to her but at least she wasn't going down without a fight and let mr Confident over there fluster her so easily.
"You can watch as long as you want. But since I just started working here I don't think my boss would like that."
"So what do you like Drew?" May felt compelled to talk to him. Sure he was doing his job but surely he could spare few minutes. He wouldn't be advising her on flowers if he didn't right?
"Flowers or I wouldn't be working here. Also visiting cafe's and judge their products. I'm a bit of a food critic."
"I like food too." May slapped herself for saying something so stupid. Of course she liked food as she needed it to function. The boy raised an eyebrow.
"You're weird."
"No. I'm May."
"As in the springtime of May where flowers begin to bloom?"
"Oh he's smooth!" Glaceon tried to stay out of her hosts relationship and love life but had to comment on Drew. She tried to figure out if he actually showed an interest in her host or if he was just that good a salesman. May told her to shut up for once.
"The fifth month actually which is when my parents got married. It's one of their favorite times of the year." She smiled as she told him why they chose that name for her.
"My name in a different language means wise. I should know cause I'm saying you're smart to shop here." Drew flicked the bang that was in front of his forehead. It showed his confidence in his looks as May recomposed herself somewhat. Using her discipline as Glaceon in no matter what adversity she faced she decided to take him up on his suggestion and get the flowers. Drew nodded.
"Should I wrap them up for you so you can take them?"
"Actually I want a new batch delivered in a few days. My mom's birthday is coming up and I want to be early."
"Then let me write down your order."
The two teens finished up. May paid for her order as Drew wrote it down on how she wanted the bouquet to be and be delivered on Caroline's birthday.
"Thank you. Bye Drew."
"Bye May. Feel free to come back here if you want something else."
May satisfied with her purchase headed out. Walking over the streets she couldn't help but think about the green haired boy. Weaving through the crowd of pedestrians she paid little attention to her surroundings.
"Maybe he wants to go to prom with me?"
Not yet having a date for the event May was looking forward to it. None of the boys in school tickled her fancy and the florist that helped her out seemed like a great candidate. Maybe she can take Drew with her and show him off to her friends and enemies like Ursula.
"Earth to May! Hello!"
"Huh? What?"
"I see." The spirit seeing it more than enough times in her lifetime already know what her host is feeling. The distracted girl senses not optimal it was an easy conclusion.
"You like him don't you?" Glaceon sounded amused. May waved it off.
"He's just a boy. People should always be nice to each other and he wanted to help me. It be rude to tell him to go away. And it's not like I like him."
"RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! And I'm not over a couple thousand years old."
"I'm not crushing on him ok!?"
"The way you deny it says otherwise."
"Shut it!"
Glaceon chuckled. Her host flustered over the boy so much she actually forgot to check what he did during the transaction of money.
"Check your change."
"My change?"
"You were eyeing him so much you didn't see slip him in something else."
May took out her wallet. She received two notes of five back as she had ten left in change. It would've been easier for the male to give her a ten note but as she felt the bills they were harder than usual. Splitting the two fives she saw a small card of the flower shop in between it. Pulling it out she studied it as she turned and read the back.
"I'm already looking forward to seeing May. And I don't mean the month."
Realized Drew left the message for her she got a stupid grin. He sure had his way with ladies and his words and she took an interest in him. He clearly did as well as she saw a phone number on the back that belonged to him meaning he wanted to stay in touch as well.
"Might give him a call later. I don't want to sound desperate."
"He likes you too. The rose on it unfortunately is something not fun right now."
The business card being signed off with a stamp of a red rose reminded them of Roserade. The vigilante with less restraint on killing criminals like her and her allies it saddened May a bit. With almost all of her free time being Glaceon lately she wondered if she could make time in her schedule for the florist. Sensing her doubt Glaceon jumped in.
"It's your choice but remember you have a duty. Don't wait too long though if you really like him. Guys like him doesn't stay on the market for long."
The spirit supportive of her host she did want May to have a happy live. Her mother falling in love with a cop it was when they met on an undercover operation. Norman had been send out to infiltrate a group that dealt in illegal firearms but went digging a bit to deep for his own good. Caroline and the spirit froze the guns shipments destroying the weapons in the process. The new guy being blamed the group wanted to kill him but he was saved by Caroline.
The officer grateful for her saving his life promised not to tell his colleague about the heroine. Still the officer became obsessed with finding out her identity. Taking to speed dating he went over and over in an attempt to find her. Eventually by a stroke of luck Norman met Caroline and it was love at first sight. That was before the woman told him her biggest secret and Norman proposed on the spot before they were happily married.
With Brock and Kenny in the medical center the hospital kept them for a night on observation. Ash and Dawn going to the desk to ask for their room number the lady looked into their records and said they were going to be discharged in the afternoon when their parents would pick them up. Dawn relieved she struck them just perfect went to go change into Umbreon out of the hospital.
Ash going through the halls a section was shut off. Armed guards stood in the way preventing any passage. It being clear where Scrafty was admitted Ash realized nobody had a clue what happened here on the roof last night.
Ash arriving in their room Brock and Kenny were dressed in blue hospital gowns as they were laying on their beds with the TV on showcasing sports highlights.
"Hi guys. How are you feeling?" Ash started off the talk as Brock turned down the sound of the TV.
"Better. The doctors said I hadn't hit my head too hard." Brock told the duo.
"Same too. I don't know if you already heard but we're going to be discharged later." Kenny said. Ash smiled.
"Good news for once."
"Where's Dawn?" Kenny asking since Dawn promised to come around to visit him. Disappointed she broke that promise Ash explained it.
"Lila wanted Dawn to come by before seeing you. She got a few designs she wants Dawn to make cause she needs to learn how to sew a dress." Dawn's excuse planted for being on the roof Ash needed to get out as well so he can join her in patrol.
"So how did that fight between the two of you ended?" Brock asked wanting to hear the conclusion. The fact Ash got thrown into a fence and came out of it with less injuries then him and Kenny didn't fit the story. Out of all of them he should be in the hospital.
"One of them showed up and before they knew it all of them were on the ground! You guys should've seen it! It went from BAM, WHAM, POW!" Ash shot down any chance he beat them by themselves while hiding his identity. With movements he acted like a child impressed with the power on display on front of him.
"Which one was it?" Brock wanting to know.
"The frog, Grey-ninja?" Ash mispronouncing the name on purpose thus far to lead his classmates off.
"Again. That's the one with ice powers, the one in black and now you've seen another one." Kenny summarizing the luck Ash has all the time got a little mad.
"You have guardian angels I swear." Brock shook his head. Ash being flung into the cage and then getting up from it the way he did and continued fighting the punk leader without fear as he became even more curious about what Ash can really do in a fight.
"If we need a team name we got one." The whole pretending to be more than human and the group the aura users fell under it would make a great combination with their hideout called Heaven.
"Then we can finally finish that talk huh?" Brock just wanting to get it over with already and end the situation between them all so they can just get on with their lives.
"How about you guys recover first? Go and have fun at your party while I'm going to carry boxes around." The lie of helping one of his mother's friends move covering for him they can agree on it.
"First day after school then. And don't bring Dawn this time."
Ash's nostrils started to tickle. The scent in the room changed. An incredibly strong and sweet odor circled through the room now. Completely contrasting the hospital smell from before it was pleasant but worrying.
"You guys smell that? Urgh…" His head began to hurt. He felt himself relax and slack but fought it off by pumping more aura into his system. His power protecting him from whatever is going on he looked to Kenny and Brock.
"Guys?" They had goofy grins on their faces. Their eyes losing any color in their pupils they began to glow a gold color as they muttered words.
"So…good…Gorgeous…woman…"
"What is this stuff?"
Worrying what was going on Ash ran out the room not wanted to be affected too. He didn't know how much protection his aura would give him and he wasn't staying to find out. He saw the male doctors in the same state as Brock and Kenny. The guards to Scrafty's room as well acting strange Ash began running faster for fresh air. The nurses clear of mind gave an evacuation alarm for everyone to get out of the building.
"What's going on Dawn? Where are you?"
See you around
