Dewott's Mysterious Evolution!

"Where's Cyndaquil...?"

"Quil, Cyndaquil!" Cyndaquil danced about in the blue light, seemingly oblivious to the danger of the situation.

"Oh no, Cyndaquil!" Zach quickly dove forward to grab Cyndaquil before it was too late only to wind up getting caught in the blast along with the fire mouse as the energy beam fired from the Unown! When it dispersed all that was left behind were Lucario and Cinderace's Pokeballs along with the balls that contained Obstagoon and Dragonite!

"Zach!" Dawn shrieked out as tears began flowing through her eyes.

"Carrr!" Lucario raced forward before anxiously looking about for his trainer's aura.

"Ace..." Cinderace dropped to her knees and began to cry.

"I-I can't believe..." Ash started.

"He's gone..." Marnie frowned.

"Pika..." Pikachu's ears flattened.

"Morpek..." Morpeko gazed at the ground with a saddened expression.

"That kid saved me, I can't believe it..." Leroy breathed out.

"After we tried killing him too..." Cletus was shocked that anyone could be selfless enough to do such an act especially after what they did and constantly tried to do to Zach and his friends.

"Yeah... we should get out of here before his girlfriend or that goth girl try ta kill us..." Leroy muttered.

"Agreed..."

Though before the two were able to take a single step, a bright purple light flashed through the ruins as several strange looking Pokemon appeared before them all!

"Voltorb."

"Braav!" The eagle Pokemon screeched out.

"Qwil!"

"Arca!" The strange looking Arcanine howled out while an unusual looking Lilligant twirled about beside him.

"Carrr?" Lucario tilted his head, his eyes glowed blue as he read their aura. Their aura was similar to the ancient aura that Zach's Cyndaquil possessed only different in ways he couldn't possibly describe as he hadn't sensed anything like it before!

"A-Ace!" Cinderace shivered as Arcanine leered at her.

"Whoa, I've never seen these Pokemon before..." Ash breathed out while taking a quick leap backwards from shock.

"Actually we did see that one," Marnie commented as she pointed towards the wooden Voltorb. "Well we didn't necessarily 'see' it but it was on the wall paintings that Cynthia found!"

"Yes and no, it's just wall art... the writing appears to have crumbled off with age." Cynthia remarked as she shot another look around the room before fixating her gaze upon the art. "There are quite the unusual Pokemon here, this one looks just like a Voltorb but more... wooden?" She tilted her head.

"Hey that's a white Zorua!" Marnie was quick to comment.

"It looks amazing..." Zach trailed off as he gazed at the Zorua.

Ash's gaze turned towards what looked like a Scyther with rocky armor. He tilted his head before retrieving his Rotom Phone to check Scyther's data as he never heard of another evolution for Scyther.

"I wonder if my Scyther can turn into that..."

"And that's definitely a Qwilfish," Dawn commented as she glanced towards Qwilfish. Her rival Ursula obtained one during her Johto campaign so she was familiar with the species. "And Arcanine?"

"And that's Lilligant..? And Braviary?! But why do they look different? I saw a Qwilfish here before and it looked nothing like this!" Ash exclaimed.

"I don't think we have time to ask them, they look unusually ticked off for wild Pokemon!" Marnie shouted while pointing towards Arcanine, the canine was creeping towards Cinderace and Lucario with his fangs bared in a furious expression!

"Hey bro this is exactly what Lenny was talking about!" Leroy exclaimed.

"Come again?" Cletus looked towards his brother. "He said he wanted us to catch an Unown, didn't he?"

"Nah, that was a coincidence besides we already tried and they're long gone! That Voltorb right there looks like easy pickings, shouldn't be much trouble to simply grab it and run am I right?"

"Um..." Cletus opened his mouth before closing it as he realized that his brother wouldn't listen if he reminded him that Voltorb could self-destruct!

Ash was about to pick a Pokemon to tangle with when he realized what the two Team Rocket agents were up to. "Oh no you don't, Dewott I choose you!" He wasn't sure what type Voltorb was but seeing how the Pokemon didn't appear to be hostile like the rest, he didn't want to just blindly attack it. Who knows what would happen if Voltorb self-destructed, the ruins could fall right on top of them! "Use Aqua Jet!"

"Dew!" A watery veil surrounded Dewott as he rocketed across the ruins but before he could make contact with the Rocket duo, another time distortion rift appeared with a large purple Sneasel lookalike emerging. The tall weasel leered at the approaching Dewott and was quick to lash out, his claws glowed a venomous shade of purple as he struck at his opponent and landed a critical blow to his head!

"Dewott..." Dewott dropped to his knees as the tall Sneasel leered downwards with a mocking smirk.

"Sneasler..."

"Sneasler? So that's your name!" Ash was quick to catch on. It was most likely some evolution of Sneasel that he hadn't heard of. "Dewott return, you were gre-"

"Dew!" Dewott shook his head as he stood back to his feet while looking up towards the strange Pokemon with a determined expression. "Wott!"

"Alright then, let's try Aerial Ace!"

"Wott!" Dewott swiftly maneuvered across the field, swerving out of the way as Sneasler attempted another Poison Jab before landing a blow as the otter slashed at Sneasler's chest! Sneasler's eyes went wide as he howled out in pain, the Pokemon dropped to a knee and began breathing heavily causing Ash, Dewott and Pikachu to give each other a quick look.

"You think it's part Fighting?"

"Pika..." Pikachu shrugged.

"Well I'm sure that Professor Oak and Kukui can find out, let's catch it!" Ash enlarged a Pokeball before hurling it at the downed weasel. The ball opened up and engulfed Sneasler's body in a beam of bright red light as he was absorbed into the Pokeball, the ball shook once before bursting open as Sneasler stood ready to fight! The weasel raced forward and unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks from up close, knocking Dewott to the ground as a pained groan escaped the otter's lips.

"Dewott!"

"Pika pi!" The two cried out in concern for their partner before gasping out as a torrent of blue water formed around the otter as he rose back to his feet. Dewott locked eyes with Sneasler and gave off a challenging look as he awaited his next command.

"Torrent?!" Ash was quick to smirk upon recognizing the ability. "Alright Dewott, let's finish this with Water Pulse!"

"Dew!" A powerful blast of water erupted from Dewott's mouth and blasted across the ruin, knocking Sneasler right off his feet! Sneasler grunted out before landing on his backside as swirls formed within his eyes.

"Sneasler..."

"Pika pi!" Pikachu cheered for his Unovan buddy.

"Alright Dewott! Now for the-" Ash went silent though his arm continued to move as a bright blue light suddenly engulfed Dewott's body. The ball was released from his grip, pelting the downed weasel Pokemon before it opened up to absorb him while Dewott began changing form. He started becoming quadrupedal as he lowered himself onto all four and his light blue skin soon turned into the familiar dark blue hue that Samurott bore however that was where the similarities stopped, white fur grew from his chin but it was more crazed and unkempt compared to most Samurott while the usual cream colored plating's across his body were colored dark red and black! Apart from being another color, his horn was also unusual as rather than being perfectly straight and narrow it was all twisted and had spikes coming out of it like a thorn!

"Samurott!" The time distortion rift next to him and Sneasler soon closed up, bringing the atmosphere around them back to normal as Ash and Pikachu stood in shock. Unable to process the world around them or Sneasler's Pokeball being transported away.

"Unknown species acquired." Ash's Rotom Phone spoke though neither he nor Pikachu heard as they were staring at Samurott with awestruck expressions as their friends battled around them.

"Samu?" Samurott tilted his head as he wondered if something was wrong with them. Apart from learning new moves he felt perfectly fine!

"Y-You look amazing!"

"Pika pi!"

"Rott!" Samurott smiled at his two closest friends as he was thankful for the opportunity to make them proud! A Pokeball shook upon Ash's belt as a certain grass snake was feeling rather jealous that her partners had left her behind!

"Arca!" Arcanine snarled out as rocks appeared above Cinderace and Lucario, pelting the two of them as they covered their heads. The two Pokemon leered at the strange looking beast before giving each other a quick nod as they performed their Pyro Ball and Aura Sphere combo, sending a large ball of fiery aura flying directly towards Arcanine! The canine yelped out as he was pushed back before snarling out as he lunged forward to sink his fangs into Cinderace's neck causing the rabbit to let out a pained shriek as he managed to draw blood! Marnie was corned by Qwilfish and Braviary at that moment but she still managed to get a quick glimpse.

"They're out for blood!" She warned the others.

"Carrr..." Lucario snarled at the sight of his second best friend getting mauled, he wasn't about to lose her too! His eyes glowed bright blue as a similar blue outline formed around Arcanine, the canine yelped out from shock and dropped Cinderace to the floor while frantically waving his paws about as he moved through the air! A small black crystal flew from his mane and soared across the ruins before lodging itself in Ash's hair, unnoticed for the time being. Lucario let out a snarl as he threw Arcanine at the Lilligant that Dawn's Typhlosion was battling causing both Hisuian Pokemon to drop to their knees in defeat from the force although it was mostly the heat that drew from Arcanine's body in the case of Lilligant.

Dawn let out a gasp as she turned to face Lucario. "You just used Psychic!" She knew all of Lucario's moves as she accompanied her boyfriend and helped out in every training session so Lucario suddenly learning a new move was certainly a surprise. "B-But how?!"

Lucario glanced towards a nearby time distortion rift that was closing up before tensing up as he felt a familiar aura on the other side, one he knew all too well! "Carr..." "He's alive..."

"Ace?!" Cinderace jerked her attention towards her partner as he motioned towards the closing rift.

"Hm? You think that weird rift has something to do with it?" Dawn questioned. She couldn't understand Lucario but saw him pointing at the closing rift leading her to guess.

"Carr?" Lucario shook his head before pausing with a thoughtful expression as he thought maybe that did have something to do with it!

Dawn retrieved two empty Pokeballs from her bag and was rather quick at hurling them at the strange looking Pokemon. She may not have bested Arcanine herself but her boyfriend's Pokemon did and they were essentially hers now, she knew that he'd want her to look after them. The pair never discussed it for obvious reasons but they did share an immense love for one another and his Pokemon were all she had left of him! The two Pokeballs chimed out before transporting themselves away to Professor Rowan's laboratory.

"Alright Morpeko, hit them with Stomping Tantrum!"

"Morpek!" Morpeko slammed her feet against the ground causing large chunks of the ground to splinter up and fly towards Braviary and Qwilfish! Marnie knew that Qwilfish were normally weak to Ground but it was still quite a shock when the unusual looking Qwilfish promptly dropped to the ground in defeat, even more of a shock when the strange Braviary attempted to swallow the downed Pokemon!

"Oh no you don't!" Marnie was quick to throw a ball at Qwilfish, saving the Hisuian Pokemon's life as his body was safely absorbed into the Pokeball! The ball shook twice upon hitting the floor before chiming out to signal the capture a success shortly before the ball transported itself away to her brother for safe keeping! "Whew!" Marnie let out a gasp of relief before pointing towards Braviary. "Aura Wheel!"

"Morpek!" Morpeko raced in place as a blue energy ball formed around her before the rodent rocketed off the ground and slammed against Braviary shortly before delivering a powerful shock to the eagle Pokemon!

"Brav!" The eagle's eyes widened as it let out a pained caw. Braviary shook itself off before soaring towards Morpeko, his wings were engulfed in a colorful aura as he slashed at Morpeko! Marnie flinched as she expected it to do something considering she didn't recognize the attack, it was likely something unique to the strange Braviary. However much to her and Braviary's surprise, Morpeko stood in place without a scratch to be seen!

"Brav?!" The eagle let out a surprised screech while Marnie couldn't help but smirk.

"You're a Psychic type, ain't ya? Well your luck's run out cause Morpeko's a Dark type!" Marnie usually wasn't interested in catching non-Dark types but seeing how she was in need of a Flying type of her own, she sure wasn't going to shoot down an opportunity at catching one! Even after evolving, Murkrow would be too small to carry her and far as she knew there weren't any other Dark types capable of flight. Having a Flying type of her own would ensure that she wouldn't get left behind if Ash rushed off again like he had on Dragonite Island! Besides being able to sneak off to see her brother the next time they were in Galar would be nice! "Morpeko, kick his butt and I'll give ya all you can eat later!"

"Morpek!" Morpeko's fur turned a violent shade of purple as her eyes shot a bright red color. The rodent raced in place before rocketing off as she slammed her blue energy wheel against Braviary once more, striking him upside the head! Braviary groaned as he dropped to the ground in defeat, swirls forming in his eyes as Marnie let out an ecstatic shout.

"Alright!" She reached for another empty ball and threw it towards the downed eagle before jumping up as an explosion sounded off from behind them!

"Ahhhh!" Leroy and Cletus had grabbed hold of Voltorb as they were currently out of Pokeballs, forcing them to resort to other methods of carrying it out. Voltorb was calm and relaxed at once, not seeming to realize the danger he was in but upon the two rednecks accidentally tripping, the Hisuian Pokemon was quick to self-destruct out of rage as they unintentionally slammed him against the rocky ground! The explosion sent the two blasting through the roof and towards the sky above, the fainted Voltorb still in their arms as they flew off to parts unknown!

"They got away!" Ash uttered a frustrated growl as he watched them flew away with the strange Voltorb.

"Hey, it's okay. We've got the rest!" Marnie spoke in a soothing tone as she placed her hand atop his shoulder. "So they got away, who cares? The important thing here is that we got out of this without losing anyone else!"

Dawn gazed down at her feet as tears started falling from her eyes again. Lucario gave her a saddened expression as he wished there was some way to tell her that Zach was still alive, unfortunately none of them could understand them the way his best friend could.

"Psst!" Lucario jerked his head as he noticed a nearby hole in the wall, most likely a result of Voltorb's Self-Destruct! The jackal's eyes glowed bright blue as he read the aura, whoever in there had an aura that was even older than these strange Pokemon that assaulted them. Lucario slowly walked into the next room where he came face to face with an older woman with features quite similar to Cynthia. The woman gave Lucario a smile before silently pointing towards a nearby wall painting.

"Carr?" Lucario tilted his head as he looked her over before shrugging as he made his way over to the painting, his eyes were quick to widen upon seeing it before he opened his mouth to call out to the others. "Carrrr!"

"Huh? Lucario?" Marnie called out. "What is it?"

"It sounds like he wants us to come find him." Ash exclaimed before the three trainers, Pikachu, Morpeko, Samurott and Cinderace entered the room. "What is it Lucario?"

Lucario glanced towards where he'd last seen the older woman before freezing up as she was gone! The jackal sweated before pointing towards the wall art and Dawn was quick to gasp out before a smile formed upon her cheeks. "Zach and Cyndaquil, they're alive!" She wiped the tears from her eyes as they took in the painting's story that told of a strange boy and his Cyndaquil that fell from the sky and helped save Jubilife Village and the ancient region of Hisui from the frenzied Nobles before putting an end to the threat once and for all atop Mt. Coronet! The final drawing showcased Azel, Uxie, and Mesprit watching on as he stood alongside his Pokemon atop the mountain; An unusually large Garchomp towered above them while a Luxray stood by it's side, Cyndaquil had apparently undergone the same situation that Ash's Dewott had as his blue body turned a bright purple color while colorful ghastly purple flames erupted from his neck! What appeared to be a Decidueye stood alongside Typhlosion although it looked more like an ancient samurai than an archer, next to him stood what was clearly a Goodra with a large snail shell atop it's back and a white Zoroark that stood close to his trainer in a protective manner. The trainer held what Ash recognized as the Red Chain in his hands causing him to look about before glancing up where he noticed Palkia drawn atop the wall!

"He's in the past!" Dawn exclaimed before turning to the others with an anxious expression. "We have to get him, he can't face Palkia on his own! Palkia will destroy him!"

"But how? We can't repeat the accident that sent him there, the Unown all buggered off!" Marnie commented while gesturing around the ruins.

"...Celebi, we've got to catch a Celebi!" Ash was quick to exclaim.

"Alright we got a method but we don't know when he is, we can't just go hopping about the timeline as that could cause severe problems!" Marnie calmly spoke. She was worried for Zach too but unlike Dawn she knew if they dropped in right as he battled Palkia then they could lend him their aid! They didn't have to rush and get him straight away, he made it there perfectly fine from the looks of things!

"Well... we actually know these guys." Dawn gestured towards the lake trio. "If they truly were there then they'd know the date and time." There may be multiple Latios, Latias, Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, etc out there but there was only one lake trio!

"We'd need to speak to all three of them though," Ash frowned. "Which means we'll have to call up Brock and ask for his help!"

The old woman peered around the corner and smirked before quietly taking her leave.

"About time," The blue Mew's tail impatiently twitched as the woman exited the ruins. "Did you do what you were supposed to do, Mistress Cogita?"

"Of course, I know the risks if the cycle is broken. I did everything that I'm supposed to do to help him."

"Good," Mew smiled before darting his eyes towards the stairs. "Now we've best be off, they're heading off to find Celebi right now!"

"All according to plan, eh?" Cogita smirked.

"Bingo." Mew giggled out before levitating the pair safely away right as Lucario reached the top of the stairs. The jackal paused as he sensed the same aura from before along with the aura belonging to that Galarian Weezing they saved! He narrowed his eyes and cast a glance towards where the pair disappeared to.

"Ahh, this is the life!" Lenny cracked open a nice cold can of lemonade as he sat in his hot tub atop his newly repurchased yacht!

"Oh brother!" Two familiar voices sang out causing him to crush the can in his hand as steam blew from his ears.

"Not again..."

"Hey bro, we found that unknown Pokemon that you were looking for!" Leroy held out the wooden Voltorb towards Lenny causing the more successful Rocket agent to let out a yelp before leaping from his hot tub!

"What are ya idiots doing?! Ya could have killed me!"

"Sorry bro, we just want to get home and see our ma again! It feels like it's been an eternity since we last saw her!" Cletus frowned.

"Yeah, we stuck out our necks for this Voltorb! We even iced somebody to do it!"

"You two actually killed somebody...?" Lenny raised an eyebrow. "Color me impressed."

The two redneck's eyes lit up as he bought it! "Yeah, it was that bigshot hero! The one from Galar!"

"The one with the large shield wolf mane!"

"...You mean Zach? I've met him, that's hardly a feat to boast about." Lenny dismissed with a wave of his hand. "Now if you killed that other one, that would have been something!"

"But we did good with Voltorb, right bro?" Cletus flashed his brother a nervous smile as Leroy continued holding out the wooden Voltorb. Lenny leaned forward to fully inspect Voltorb, giving it a quick tap with a finger before giving it a lick.

"Hm... I'm not sure how you two got that wood to cover Voltorb like that but you'll have ta work harder than that to pull a scam on me!" Lenny grabbed Voltorb and hurled him off the side of the yacht, rather than sink Voltorb simply floated along the current but went unnoticed as Lenny turned back to his brothers. "If you dare try and pull that stunt again, I'll make sure you're reunited with our father! You understand me?!"

"Y-Yes bro!" Leroy and Cletus shivered from fright as he leered at them.

"Good, now get out of my sight and don't you dare come back until you actually have something of worth!"

"But bro-" Leroy immediately shut up as Lenny released his Hydreigon.

"Get!"

"Okay, okay!" The two dove off the yacht and began hastily swimming back to shore. Lenny glared after them before sitting back into his pool, he closed his eyes as he began relaxing once more before letting out a startled yelp as the yacht suddenly exploded courtesy of Voltorb, sending the man flying through the sky as yet another yacht sank to the bottom of the ocean. Voltorb drifted for miles before approaching the beachy shore of Undella Town where Elesa and Skyla were currently sunning and casually hanging out with each other as best friends do. The two were deep in conversation before Skyla's keen eyes picked out Voltorb.

"That Pokemon needs help, Swanna!" Swanna took off from beside her trainer and swooped through the air, the beautiful swan grasped Voltorb before carrying him back to shore! "...Well that's an unusual looking Pokemon." Skyla commented as she pulled out her Rotom Phone. "I'm not getting any readings on it."

"Voltorb..." Elesa noticed the Pokemon's saddened expression and offered him a friendly smile.

"Hey Voltorb, how about coming back to Nimbasa City to live with me? I'm sure that you'll feel right at home in my Gym!"

"Voltorb!" Voltorb beamed up at Elesa as he felt loved for the first time in his life!

Next time, the frenzy action continues with Noble Lilligant!
