CONSPIRATORS
ILLYRIO MOPATIS – PENTOS
There are men in the world who despite their beginnings rise to great heights in life. One of those men is Illyrio Mopatis Magister of Pentos. Illyrio started life as an orphan. His parents fell sick at age of six and died. He was taken to an orphanage, but ran away at ten and five. He became a thief, stealing food, gold purses, and jewelry. He would gain work as a servant to a wealthy noble, rob him or her and was very good at it.
At the age of ten and nine, Illyrio meets Varys Tathos who would become his best friend and ally. Varys was also a thief, but he could disguise himself and change his voice. The two began working together and eventually they became couriers delivering messages for nobles in Meereen. They were able to learn secrets and blackmailed nobles. The two friends used their growing wealth and influence to self-educate themselves.
Varys started a spy network selling information while Illyrio took his wealth and invested it in small businesses he turned into large businesses. He would buy out his partners, increasing his wealth. Illyrio would go into business ventures other merchants would not, like cheese, exotic foods, and other things.
Eventually Illyrio rose to be the richest man in the world and magister of Pentos. He married a Princess from Lys, a woman named Doerra Jakyph the granddaughter of Jaenyn Blackfyre. She died giving him a son they named Volyn Mopatis. Illyrio has a plan, but he needs Daenarys Targaryen to make those plans come true. So he sent Strong Belwas to find the Targaryens, after hearing of Viserys' reputation.
Two years had passed since he left and there had been no news from Belwas. But Illyrio is a patient man. Because he grew up hungry most of the time, Illyrio swore that he would never go hungry again. He ate three meals a day, not including snacks. As such he gained a lot of weight and became obese. Illyrio has a curved mustache and pointed beard of gold colored hair.
He is six feet tall and is always dressed in the finest clothes. He usually holds court at his mansion in regards to his duties as Magister. After court he sits for midday meal. "Master!" His Chief Steward yells running.
"What is it Alfore, you know I hate being disturbed while I eat."
"Yes I know, but Belwas has returned."
"Bring him to me immediately." He waves to the servants, "More food for Belwas." Illyrio hates slavery. He bought slaves, but freed them, fed them, and gave them a monthly wage. His house guards were Unsullied soldiers from Astapor. As Belwas enters the dining hall he frowns. "Where is she?"
Belwas eats some chicken, bread, and drinks from his goblet before answering. "I caught up with them in Tolos. I was going to approach them, but then they were confronted by the Fiery Hand."
"What?"
"Yes…" He replies before eating more food, "The Fiery Hand wanted the girl. But they did not get her. This part Magister you will find hard to believe…"
Illyrio listens to a story of blue fire, ice, a man dressed in Targaryen armor and how he vanished in a ball of fire with the Targaryens. "Unbelievable." He replies.
"All true. Even I cannot track someone who vanishes in a ball of fire and gives the Fiery Hand pause."
After his meal Illyrio sends for the High Priest of the temple of light in Pentos. He came because a huge donation of gold is promised. "Thank you for coming Lord Marvo."
"I could hardly refuse. Especially for one hundred thousand gold harpies."
"The donation comes with strings attached…Information. And I must have your word. I need you to swear by R'hllor that you will tell me all you know."
"I swear by R'hllor…What do you wish to know?"
They are sitting in his solar at his iron wood desk. Illyrio has a bowl of fruit in front of him. "I have a vested interest in finding the Targaryen exiles. My man found them. The problem is…the fiery hand appeared wanting to take Princess Daenarys. The Targaryens were rescued by a man, wearing Valyrian armor. My man says he summoned a ring of blue fire."
"Blue Fire!"
Illyrio smiles at his reaction, "You know something…What?"
"As I swore by R'hllor…Blue fire is the sign of the Prince that was Promised. A Targaryen Prince born of fire and ice. Destined to bring the dawn during the long night. There is a prophecy…"
"Yes…yes…why would the Fiery Hand try to take the Princess?"
"There is a civil war among the followers of R'hllor…Those who follow the Lady Kinvara and those who follow the radical Melissandre. Those of us who follow Kinvara…we do not force our faith on anyone, but we believe that R'hllor is the one true god. Melisandre and her followers believe that the world must be cleansed of the false gods and those who follow them…
She and her followers are searching for the Prince and any Targaryen with magic in their blood. They wish to bring back the Dragons. And only a Targaryen can birth petrified Dragon eggs."
"Do they have Dragon Eggs?"
"I do not know. But if they get their hands on a Targaryen with active Dragon blood they can do some unspeakable blood magic."
"Thank you."
Marvo stands up to leave, "Before I go Magister. I feel I must warn you. I do not know what your plans are…But I would not trifle with the Prince that was Promised. He wields great power."
"Alfore!" The Steward rushes into the solar. "Is the gold ready?"
"Yes Magister."
"Have it delivered to the temple of light." Later Illyrio has some clothes packed and his private ship prepared for a trip to Westeros. He needs to speak with his friend Varys in Person. But first he will visit his son.
AEGON
Aegon believes that he is the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Princess Elia Targaryen nee' Martell and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. All his life he had been preparing to avenge his family and take the throne. He is surrounded by Braavosi swordsman, Dothraki warrior, a Westerosi Knight. He also has teachers, a Maester to educate him, and a Septon to teach him the faith of the seven.
Aegon is sixteen name days old, with his white hair, purple eyes, and light ebony skin. He is in the courtyard training against a man armed with a Warhammer. He trained with a sword against all types of weapons. He trained to be worthy of the sword Darksister. "My Prince Magister Illyrio is here." The chief steward says.
Aegon lives on Mopatis Island in a mansion on the island. He sheaths his training sword, bows to his Braavosi sword master and heads to the solar to meet his benefactor. "Magister. A pleasure as always. Do you bring word on my aunt?"
"I do…both good and bad news, I'm afraid. My man Belwas found her, but she and Prince Viserys were taken. I am heading to Westeros to get more information."
He sighs, "Do you know who took her?"
"As I said my Prince I need more information."
"I will not wait anymore Magister…I will hatch the eggs. Then perhaps she will come to me."
"Will you at least wait until I return?"
"No I will do it tonight." His decision causes Illyrio to stay and witness the hatching of the eggs. They make their preparations and at High Moon three Dragon eggs are placed in a wooden and stone nest. Using leeches Aegon had stored up his blood for the ritual. He pours the blood over the eggs, wood, and stones. Then he takes the torch and starts speaking in old Valyrian. After he says the words that needed to be said, he places the torch and the wood bursts into flames.
For hours the fire burns, then as the sun rises, the eggs hatch and the fire dies. The Dragons are red, blue, and pale yellow. He cuts his hand and allows the red Dragon to lick his blood, to form the bond.
MELISSANDRE
Melissadnre came from humble beginnings. She was born into slavery, but her life turned around for the better after she ran away. Her Master's guards chased her, but she was saved by a priest of R'hllor. The Priest mentored and trained her, taught her blood magic. She drank Night Shade and became a powerful fire mage. She rose through the ranks and became a Priestess.
Because of her mentor's teachings, Melissandre became a radical of the light of R'hllor. Many in the order came to her way of thinking, but not enough to challenge the High Priestess Kinvara. But soon things would change, especially when her acolytes returned with Daenarys Tarharyen.
Melissandre and her followers rule the temple in New Ghis. The entire city had been converted to R'hllor. She and her followers also rule in Mantarys and Qohor. Anyone who does not convert is burned alive. But as powerful as she and her followers are, they are over shadowed by Kinvara and her followers. Melissandre is in her private study reading, when there is knock. "Enter." She commands. When Jael opens the door and walks in, she smiles.
"Jael…You've returned."
"I have glorious news my lady. The Prince has shown himself."
She retains her composure at the news, "Are you sure?"
"I am my lady. He wielded blue fire. Sallyn tried to breach the flames and was turned to ice. The Prince took the Princess and her brother. They vanished in a ball of flames."
"Soon Kivara and those who follow her will know of this. We must move quickly. Capturing the Prince is our number one concern."
"We have a Priest in the west."
"A priest who has not contacted us in some time. We must move west."
"There is something else my lady."
"What?"
"I came here by ship. We sailed through the broken continent of Old Valyria to cut our time at sea short. We spotted a merchant ship leaving the area. Out of curiosity we made for the old city ruins. The city has been rebuilt."
"The Prince is more powerful than we imagined. I will go myself and stop there on the way west." After three days of preparation, she set sail for Old Valyria with five members of the Fiery Hand and five acolytes.
KINVARA – VOLANTIS
Kinvara is young, beautiful, charismatic and a good leader. She had foreseen Melissandre's grab for power and was instrumental in stopping Melissandre and her followers. Even as an acolyte Kinvara had dedicated herself to finding and helping the Prince. She had foreseen the fall of a mountain, the death of a mocking bird, and lions pretending to be Stags saved, by a masked man.
But she could not see the face behind the mask. And if she couldn't see behind the mask neither could Melissandre and her followers. Kinvara is in the street helping serve food to the poor and needy. Her bodyguards are nearby ready to give their lives for hers. She hands a bowl of stew to a boy and looks up to spot Marvo the High Priest of the temple in Pentos.
She excuses herself and walks up to him. "Marvo…This is a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?"
"Is it wise my lady for you to be out in public like this."
She smiles as they walk back towards the temple, "If it is R'hllor's will that I die at an assassin's blade or arrow, so be it. But my time is a long ways away. Now tell me, why have you left your post in Pentos?"
"The Magister of Pentos made a huge donation of one hundred thousand gold harpies."
"Has he turned to R'hllor's light?"
"No he wanted information. And I swore to R'hllor that I would tell him all I know."
"What did he want to know?"
They sit down on a bench in the hallway to the main hall. "He sent his man to find the Targaryen exiles. His man says that the Fiery Hand was there, sent by Melissandre. They wanted her, both Targaryens were saved by the Prince. He used blue flames."
She sighs, "We must protect him…The Priest Thoros has turned from Melissandre's radical teachings. I will send more of our people to make contact with him. In the meantime, I think it time I visited the Wall."
"How will we protect him, if we know not who he is?"
"I will find my answers in the west."
JON CONNINGTON
Jon Connington was born the only son of Armond Connington of Griffen's Roost. Jon grew up in King's Landing alongside Prince Rhaegar. The two became good friends and eventually Jon was made Hand of the King. During the rebellion Jo led the Targaryen forces against Robert's forces in the Step Stone Islands.
Jon would have won that battle if he had attacked with his army instead of facing Robert in single combat. As they fought Eddard Stark arrived with reinforcements savingqt he day. Because of his defeat Aerys banished Jon on pain of death. He fled to Braavos and started drinking heavily. Then a man of the Golden Company convinced Jon to join them.
Jon served the Golden Company for fifteen years. Later Jon meets the Masked Dragon and after learning his identity, he leaves the Golden Company to serve the Masked Dragon as Lord Protector of New Valyria. Jon performs his daily oblations and then breaks his fast with his pregnant wife, Victoria and the Targaryen Prince and Princess.
"Good Morning wife." He says kissing her, "Good Morning your graces."
"Jon when it's just us call me Viserys."
"Very well my Prince…Viserys." He looks at Daenarys, "And how does the Princess with to be addressed."
She smiles, "Her supreme majesty Princess of House Targaryen will do fine."
They all laugh, "That's a mouth full…Your Grace…I'll have to write that down."
"What are the plans for today?"
"After I break my fast…I have to inspect the city's defenses. Then check on the construction of the fleet…I have a meeting with Lord Cavess Arn of the Stepstones. I need the two of you with me at that meeting. It will take place an hour after noon."
Before leaving Jon kisses his wife and heads to the wall to inspect the city defenses. There is a standing army of forty thousand troops, ready to fight. Another ten thousand training under Torrhen Snow Lord Commander of the Company of the Rose. The Company of the Rose is made up of men who descended from Northerners who refused to bend the knee to Aegon the Conqueror.
After checking the defenses, Jon inspects the troops that are training. As he is inspecting the fleet, Jon is joined by Viserys and Daenarys. "How many ships do we have so far?" Viserys asks.
"Two hundred and sixty. The Dragon Lords of old knew how to build ships faster than anyone in the world. We are using their techniques." Later they meet with Lord Arn.
MELISSANDRE
Magic knows magic and Melissadre could not believe the magic in New Valyria. The Prince had manipulated the magic in the place and restored the city. He also healed the stone men living on the scattered islands. The city is a structural marvel, outlined in gold. The towers are a thousand feet tall. The wall around the city is one hundred feet tall.
There are Dragon towers around the palace. Magnificent fountains, public bath houses, green houses for growing food and flowers. There are statues of Dragons, Dragon riders, and lords. There are statues representing the founders of the ancient Dragon Lord Houses. There are also new statues of Targaryens like Aegon the I, The Councilator, and Rhaegar.
"This city will become the new seat of power in the east." Jael says.
"Send one of your men back to New Ghis. We need to establish a presence here."
After a day of exploring they return to the ship and set sail for Westeros.
JON CONNINGTON
Jon is in his solar with the city spymaster and a guard captain, "The two Priests of R'hllor have left for Westeros. Before they left a man returned to the docks and bought passage aboard a merchent ship."
"Spread the word to all the soldiers. o Priests of R'hllor allowed within the city."
"Yes my lord."
Jaehaerys visits again and spends many hours with Dany and Viserys. Before he leaves Jae has a meeting with Jon. When next he visits, Jae will take Viz and Dany to see Aemon.
