He was holding her so tight she felt his heart racing underneath the finest tunic and jacket. Her head was spinning with the fast melody of violin which sounded in Ballroom.
All she saw was his dark eyes. Nothing more.
She knew everybody were looking at them. They were looking at their bodies pressed against each other and pressed more and more with every accelerating note.
They were spinning in circle around a hall. Her red dresses was floating behind her. She was holding skirt with one hand and with other hand held his shoulder.
His hands was on her waist holding her close.
Their feet intertwined in difficult steps of this dance. It was typical royalty dance.
He was looking at her with cold stone face, same as she.
And then suddenly everything stops.
His hand were gone from her waist. All he left was cold silk of her dress.
They bowed to each other and left.
One from another.
She was miserable. All she wanted was that dance would last forever. She shouldn´t felt that way. He was engaged to another.
She followed him around the castle with her eyes. She was watching him when he was training swordplay.
She just wanted to be his.
She knew he could be hers, but… he couldn´t.
"He is engaged," she repeated this every evening, when she was in her bed. Alone.
She can´t have him, that´s shame. But she could have any man she wanted to.
Unfortunatelly.
"This dance should be ours," she heard him whisper in her ears. She shivered.
"I am not one of your heart, don´t I?"
His hoarse laugh made his way all through her body to her spine.
"You are one of two."
She rolled her eyes.
"So go catch the second one. If I am not the only one."
She wanted to leave from him, but he catched her and started to dance with her without a word.
To the sound of violin, to that song like last time.
But tonight his face was not stone cold. His eyes touched every inch of her face, but her eyes.
She was once again lost in his dark eyes.
Oh, how much she wanted to drown in them.
And her purple dress was floating behind her again.
She watched him how he accompanied his fiancée through the gardens.
She was pretty with dark long wavy hair and sky- blue eyes, full lips and small nose.
She was lady.
How can she compare to her?
She was small, although her hair was long too, but sand color and straight. Her eyes was grey- blue, her lips were small.
She wore a dresses, but she hadn´t that lady look, like her.
In her nineteenth years she looked like fifteen years old. She was sure.
"You look beautiful," he smiled at her. She smiled back, because his fiancée was by his side.
She walked away as soon as possible.
She couldn´t bear how was he looking at her.
Like she was his, not his fiancée.
She couldn´t do this to her. No matted how much she hated her for taking him away.
She was wearing dark green dress with corset that made her waist even smaller and thinner.
She was talking to another members of royalty, when she heard their song.
She closed her eyes.
She imagined how she was dancing with him to this song everytime.
She felt how he grabbed her arm and took her to the center of hall. Everybody waited for their dance.
She smiled at him.
"I was afraid you forgot about me."
"Forgot about you? I will never miss the chance to dance with you on this song."
She smiled and watched how his eyes were touching her smiling lips.
She couldn´t help and looked at his too.
He was smiling lightly.
She was standing in front of his doors with her heart on silver plate.
She was willing to risk great pain just to tell him.
She was one hundred percent sure about her feelings.
She wanted to tell him.
Until the doors opened and his fiancée bumped to her only in her nightgown with giggles. When she recognized the youngest Queen, she bowed and then left.
She knew what they were doing.
But she hoped.
Hoped so badly, that he would feel the same like her.
She was looking at him, laying in his bed, through open door with mouth open.
Then she left.
She wasn´t feel like dancing. She felt disgusted.
They didn´t talk from that moment.
She prayed to disappear.
So she did.
Everybody was dancing in Ballroom hall and she was standing alone at balcony.
Far enough to be invisible for whoever that pass her, but close enough to hear music.
She hoped she really become invisible in her navy- blue dresses with black lace decorations.
She was tore to pieces, but when she heard that stupid damn song, she broke.
She leaned forward and put her head in her hands.
She listened to every tone of song, trying not to imagine how they were dancing.
"Here you are," she heard him behind.
"Go inside and let me be," she hissed at him over shoulder.
"No. Everybody waits to our dance."
"Go grab you fiancée, I´m not in the mood."
He came closer.
"Yes, you are."
He grabbed her shoulders and turn her to him.
No matter how hard she tried, he won over her and let him lead her.
They danced at balcony, completely alone.
But tonight she was not looking at him.
She turned her head away.
After the last tone he bowed to her and begged her to come inside.
She refused.
"And look at me closely, remember me, because I promise you, I will leave from you life," she told him then.
"What are you talking about?"
"You´ll never see me again until I completely forgot about you."
She left.
The last thing she wanted after all this was see him.
She left to the Seven Isles.
She told others that they need her ruler for a month, maybe two.
She will come to their wedding.
Maybe, if she will make it.
The people of Seven Isles welcomed their Queen warmly, they gave her all the best they had.
At first, she was scared, she would never forget about him and his dark eyes, about his hair, about their dances, when they become one person.
But as time flies by, she start realizing, she maybe don´t need him.
She really hoped that she don't need him.
What she didn´t expected was him.
One day he appeared in front of the doors. Completely messy, with dark circles beneath his eyes.
"What, for the Aslan´s mane, are you doing here?" she frowned to him.
"It was very warm greeting after almost two months, don´t you think dear sister?"
She rolled her eyes and walked past him.
"It would be more warm, if you let me know you will greet us with your shiny presence, dear brother."
He laughed.
"As I know you, you would run away again."
She looked at him sharply.
"Again?"
"Well, indeed," he shrugged and came closer to her. She stepped away from him.
"I would run away from what?" she crossed her arms.
"From your emotions."
She started to laugh.
"My emotions? Don´t you say," she laughed from the bottom of her heart. He was confused.
After a while she stop and came to him.
"I was standing at your door that night, when your dear fiancée run out from you giggling. I had my emotions on my tongue that night when I saw you two. You are the one, who run from your emotions," she lift her eyebrow. Then she lean closer, their noses almost touching.
"Oh, sorry. You don´t run from them, you hide them behind dances, Edmund," she whispered and turned from him.
"Now if you don´t have a job at Isles, be welcomed on ship to Narnia that raises the anchor at noon. Your fiancée is waiting," she walked away from him.
"She is not my fiancée anymore!" he shouted.
She stopped.
"She cheated on me," he cried. "That´s why I came."
"Great," she murmured. "Now I am replacement for her."
"You are not happy I came to you?" he run after her and grabbed her arm. The he turned her to him.
"Why should I be happy? I loved you, Edmund! I wanted to love you!" she yelled at him.
"But..."
"I promised to you, you will never see me until I forgot about you! And here I am! I don´t need you anymore!"
Edmund frowned.
"You are lying, Lucy."
She breathed sharply.
"Yes, I am lying. That´s why you need to go home."
She tried to break away from him, but he grip hers shoulders.
Edmund looked deeply in her eyes.
"I love you, Lucy. I always was. And I always will," he confessed. She shook her head.
"Then why you were with her?!" she screamed.
"Because I needed to forget about you!"
Lucy frowned and looked away.
"We can´t be together."
"Yes, we can," whispered. He stroked her hair with one hand. His gaze touch every inch of her face. As then, long time ago. She was even more beautiful.
She relaxed and even smiled at him.
"Come dance with me," he smiled warmly.
"This is not right," she tilted her head to the side. "We are siblings."
"Not in this world, trust me."
She looked at him with questioning gaze.
"Who said that?"
"Our Highest King."
Lucy´s mouth fell open. Edmund just nodded.
She sighed.
"So? Do you want to dance with me?" he tried one more time.
She started laugh.
"There is no music."
He pulled her to the doors of her chamber at governor castle.
"We can make very own symphony, if you want," he winked at her.
They danced again to the sound of violin in the Ballroom hall.
Her dress had big and heavy skirts, her shoulders was bare and her long straight hair loose. With one hand she was holding the skirt, other hand was on his shoulder.
He was holding her waist and his dark eyes was adoring her.
There was no space between their bodies and they were spinning around the hall.
To their song.
And her white dress was floating behind her.
Again.
She was smiling, when the song ends and he leaned to kiss her.
