March 19, 2027 - London Ruins, England
Terry McGinnis, the Batman watched as the Parademon patrols flew over the building searching for refugees and rebels. For twelve years now, Terry has been fighting Apokolips forces under the mentorship of Stephanie Brown who was Robin, before her injuries. Now, Terry was waiting for the Justice League's informant to arrive. As he waited his comm set beeped and a picture of Dana Tan popped up on his internal computer screen. Terry clicked answer on his gauntlet and Dana was the first to talk. "Hey Terry, how are you?"
"Fine. You?" Terry answered.
"I've been better." Dana replied and Terry knew something was off.
"What happened?"
"Carrie is dead." Dana answered and Terry kneeled in silence. Another friend and rebel. Carrie Kelley was the Batwoman and she was Taipei sabotaging the dockyards.
"I'm sorry Dana. I knew you two were close." Terry remarked.
"Thanks." Dana said as enemy fighters sped above. "Where are you?"
"London." Terry answered knowing that Dana was about to yell at him.
"Why the hell are you in London? Godfrey quarantined the city after the Hood Revolt!" Dana yelled. "They will kill you if you're spotted! Why the hell are you there anyways?"
"To meet with an informant. Apparently it's big enough for a face to face meet. Now please calm down." Terry replied calmly. It had only been a year since Terry proposed to Dana and revealed the truth to her. Now their relationship was tense. She wanted to marry him, but him being Batman made her question. So their future is undetermined.
"Okay fine. Just be careful." Dana said as Terry heard rubble echo.
"Got to go. The informant is here." Terry remarked.
"Okay bye." Dana said and Terry ended the call. As the informant got closer he heard the patrols fly above. When General Aresia walked into the building, Terry pulled out a Batarang and threw it. Aresia sliced the Batarang in half.
"Quebec Yankee Uniform Blue Sun." Aresia remarked as Terry grabbed a Batarang. He didn't throw it since that was the code the informant uses. This informant gave the rebels valuable intel helping them out greatly.
"You're the informant?" Terry asked doubting the woman.
"Yes." Aresia answered as she put her sword back. She crossed her arms and looked down. "I burned my mother's home, killed billions, thinking that I was hated. But after the Earth fell, I learned the truth. She was a hero. I've been trying to destroy my cousin's empire ever since."
"So what's so important that we need to meet face to face?" Terry asked and Aresia turned to him. She handed him a Boom Tube with preset coordinates.
"Vandal Savage is being held prisoner on Apokolips because he is the only one who can use an original Fatherbox. A device of immense power. What it can do, only Savage knows."
"What's stopping Darkseid from mind controlling Savage and forcing him to use it?"
"Savage's mind is too strong, he hasn't been broken yet." Aresia answered and Terry knew if he could get Savage to help then the rebellion might be able to bring Darkseid down. "Good luck."
"Thank you." Terry said as Aresia left. He tapped in commands on his gauntlet and a Boom Tube opened. He stepped in and arrived at the Bunker.
March 19, 2027 - JL Bunker, Gotham, Michigan
"Aresia can't be trusted." Bulleteer remarked as the Justice League looked at the security schematics for Vandal Savage's prison. But the team was concerned with Aresia's involvement because of the devastation she reaped.
"I knew Aresia when we both served Darkseid. She was loyal to Darkseid but not as extreme as many in his Empire." Barda remarked.
"But this could be our best chance to strike a critical blow to Darkseid." Maya added. "By the day Darkseid's power is growing while millions die by the day. Just this week we lost two members." the Leaguers went silent remembering Red Tornado and Red Arrow, Lian Harper.
"Darkseid's reign has led to chaos. Destroying his empire will lead to brief chaos then order will regain control. This is indeed our chance." Doctor Fate said.
"Savage is an immortal man with one thing in mind. Conquest of everything. If we let him use the Fatherbox in hopes that he will help us, then he might remove Darkseid from power only to put himself on the throne." Zauriel added with concern.
"I say we go for it. We don't have much to lose." Faith remarked. "Darkseid is strip mining the Earth of every valuable resource we have. If we don't act fast, the Earth is done for."
"Agreed." Blue Beetle replied.
"Then let's vote." Terry said. "All in favor of this mission raise your hand." Doctor Fate, Blue Beetle, Faith, and Maya raised their hands. "All oppose?" Terry asked. Bulleteer, Barda, and Zauriel raised their hands. "Four to three. This could be our last mission. Once we plan out the details, go home and be with your loved ones. We may never see them again."
March 19, 2027 - Dana Tan Apartment, Gotham, Michigan
Dana was doing some writing when she heard a knock on her door. She got off of her bed and walked to the door. When she opened the door, Terry greeted her. "What is it Terry?"
"I just wanted to talk. Can I come in?" Terry asked and Dana stepped aside to let him in.
"Why are you here?" Dana asked and Terry sat in a chair.
"The League is planning a massive assault on Apokolips. I just wanted to talk to you." Terry answered and Dana kneeled next to him surprised that the League was planning such action.
"Why are you all going to Apokolips? It's suicide." Dana remarked.
"There is a chance to turn the tide of the war in our favor." Terry said.
"Is it worth the risk?"
"Yes, but before I go, I need to know if you will marry me?" Terry asked and Dana looked down at the ground. She still need time to understand why he lied to her for eleven years about being Batman. But she deeply knows and loves Terry. She stood up and Terry stood up. She kissed him as an answer.
March 20, 2027 - Savage Tower, Apokolips
Terry exited the Boom Tube to see a luxury room filled with stolen Earth art, fine gems, shelves of books, and other items from the Earth. As the League walked through the room, Vandal Savage was drinking a glass of lemonade. The immortal man turned his head to the League. "I was wondering how long until you came to my rescue?"
"Our informant says that you're the key to some kind of power source?" Terry asked as Savage stood up.
"Ah yes, the original Fatherbox." Savage replied as he sat his glass down. "It is more than a power source." Savage added as he walked through the hall with the League in tow. When they reached a door, two Parademon guards raised their rifles.
"Freeze humans!" a Parademon ordered and Doctor Fate fired magical blasts at the two enemy soldiers. They fell down bound by magic rope. Savage opened the door revealing an elevator.
"Darkseid pushed his invasion of Earth immediately after I first activated it with the help of Klarion in 80. Darkseid personally invaded by following year." Savage added as the elevator went down. "From that time, I learned of the power contained in the Fatherbox. The power of travel in the time stream."
"Impossible." Bulleteer remarked.
"It is not. Small changes won't have a large effect on the timeline, but major changes such as stopping Darkseid will have a larger effect." Savage said as the elevator doors opened to a large room with lights shining on the Fatherbox.
"So you want us to go in that thing?" Maya remarked sharply.
"All except Fate, Barda, and Zauriel. No one who lived in the past end destination can go." Savage said.
"Which is why you haven't went back in time." Blue Beetle replied.
"Yes. But when you travel to the past, your age will be frozen until you arrive back to this date." Savage said as he walked to the Fatherbox. "You will have your memories of this timeline and the new one you create once Apokolips is destroyed."
"Destroyed?" Zauriel remarked.
"That is the only way to win against Darkseid and his minions. With their deaths." Savage said as he placed his right hand on the Fatherbox. Components of the large box began to move. "Cover me while I get the box ready."
"You got less than ten minutes." Aresia said behind them. As the League prepared for a fight, Terry ran in front of them.
"She's the informant!" Terry yelled. Terry felt Faith in his mind.
"He's correct. General Aresia is on our side." Faith remarked.
"The point is that we have enough time for the Fatherbox." Savage said.
"Unless I calculated Aresia's betrayal." a dark figure in a floating chair remarked as he appeared from behind the Fatherbox. The League prepared for the worst Darkseid has to offer. When the figure floated into the light, Terry's jaw drop to see it was the Batman.
"Remember who you are Bruce." Barda said in vain as several Boom Tubes opened around them.
"Congratulations Metron. You are sadly correct. It seems I have a traitor in my own blood." Darkseid added as he marched in.
"We weren't real family cousin." Aresia replied as she pulled out her sword and lasso.
"Kill them." Darkseid ordered and Parademons flew out of the Boom Tubes. Fate, Blue Beetle, and Zauriel flew into the air blast, slicing, and distracting the Parademons while Terry, Faith, Maya, Bulleteer, Aresia, and Barda fought on the ground holding a defense ring around Savage.
"Almost there." Savage reported.
"Send in the Doomsday." Darkseid ordered.
"Shit. Stop Doomsday now!" Savage yelled as a monster marched from a Boom Tube.
"Rip them apart." Darkseid ordered and the monster charged. Barda ran towards it and the creature smashed her down splattering blood and bones across the room. Maya drew her bow and fired an firery arrow. A explosion engulfed the creature, but it kept coming. Fate created a shield in front of him but the monster smashed it and rip Fate in two. Bulleteer charged the beast while Faith tried to invade it's mind. Terry watched in horror as Doomsday crushed Bulleteer's skull before throwing the body into Zauriel's wing giving a Parademon a lethal shot.
"Get in!" Savage yelled and Terry ran into a bright pathway in the Fatherbox.
October 4, 1980 - Markovia
Terry fell into a field of large plants. As he stood back, Terry expected the tall plants. They had large pods sticking out of them. He grabbed one and ripped it off as Faith landed a few feet away. She stood up as the Bat Computer analyize the strange pod. It came back as Maize. A crop that went extinct in 1994. They were in the past. Maya fell into the field soon after. They made it. They have a chance.
"So what's the plan?" Maya asked as she brushed dirt off of her.
"Batcomputer where are we?" Terry asked as the computer connected into the Wayne Satalite system.
"We're the only ones." Faith remarked and Terry frowned knowing this was their one chance to save everyone.
"We're in Markovia and Bruce Wayne now knows that someone is in his system. So expect the original Bat or JL members." Terry said with a small smirk.
