AN: Hey guys, normally after a preview idea, I go back to working on normal stories but I've decided to just show you guys my new Kiva idea! Mainly because it seems some of you are excited to this idea on paper, including me. The main inspiration I got from this was all the recent stuff in season 3 of DanMachi. Hope you enjoy. Now…Showtime!

Kamen Rider Kiva: Is It Wrong to Be What I am?
Years ago, a hooded young woman was running through the halls of an underground cavern within the labyrinth known as the Dungeon. She was being chased by a black and dark blue monster whose head resembled a horse.
The woman soon tripped during her run, revealing her long white hair and heterochromatic eyes with her right being grey and left being green. She quickly got on her feet and continued running. It was only a matter of time before the teen ended up meeting a dead end.
"Don't make this any harder than it has to be…" The Horse Fangire warned as the woman just looked defiant.
"I want nothing to do with them anymore! I refuse to return!"
"Forgive me, My Lady…but I am taking you back to your fa-."
SLASH!
The Horse Fangire grunted as he felt a slash on his back, turning around to see a small seemingly-mechanical black and red bat with yellow eyes.
"Y-You! If you're here, then is your partner-!?"
"My partner will never be him! And I most certainly will not let you harm her!" The bat said as he flew at the Horse Fangire, slashing him multiple times with his wings until he was on his knees.
The bat then rammed himself into the monster's face, knocking him out. The woman smiled as she looked at her savior. This was Kivat the Second.
"Kivat! You came for me!" She recognized in relief as Kivat II flew and landed on her shoulder.
"I made my choice clear to your brother. From this moment on, I shall be by your side. Of course, if you'll have me, Meteria." Kivat II explained as Meteria smiled and petted the small bat, making the former chuckle in delight.
She soon stopped when she saw the Horse Fangire starting to recover.
"We should move." Meteria said as she started running.
(Present)
A young man who had short hair as white as Meteria's, but red eyes ran into that same corner. He was wearing a hip-length brown coat with a small patch on the right side covered by a small metal breastplate. Below his waist was dark pants and brown shin-high boots. This young man was Bell Cranel.
He looked panicked as a Minotaur was hot on his heels. With no way out of this, Bell had no choice to draw out his dagger before a yellow seemingly-mechanical bat with red eyes appeared. This was Kivat the Third.
"GABU!"
Kivat bit down the Minotaur's shoulder, making the monster shout in pain.
"Bell, go!" A muffled Kivat said as Bell roared as he charged at the monster, stabbing it in the chest multiple times with his dagger.
Unfortunately, the Minotaur proved to be the stronger one here as the dagger was more like an irritating prick than a deadly weapon. He grabbed Bell with his free hand and tossed him into the wall before tossing Kivat next.
The bat was splattered against Bell's chest before dropping down onto his lap with comical swirls in his eyes.
"Did we get him?" A dazed Kivat asked as the Minotaur removed the dagger from his chest and easily crushed it in his hand.
"Uh, I'm gonna guess no…" Bell said grimly as the Minotaur looked pissed at them.
(Play Break the Chain by Tourbillion)
As the scene breaks, it shifts to Kiva walking down a hallway towards his chair/throne in Castle Doran where the Bloody Rose violin awaits him. He picked it up as the music intensifies before looking back as he felt a presence.
The scene changes to Bell awakening before being replaced with Kiva getting a Rider Kick ready.
[Baku baku Beatin' heart! Kattobashite Kick it up! Baki Baki Burnin' Heart! Kimi koso One and Only (Wake up! Wake up!)] Kamen Rider Kiva revs up his unique Fangire invention Machine Kivaa, driving through Orario in the night. Next scene was with Kiva waiting with Bloody Rose on Castel Doran's throne as Hestia and his retainers approach him.
[Kimi ga sekai ni sonzai shitery imi wo shiritakunai? Baku baku Beatin' heart! Baki Baki Burnin' Heart!] Bell approached his violin with a mirror nearby, showing a younger version of his father, Marlowe, doing the same. In the present, Bell works on making a new violin while in the past, Marlowe is playing his. In the present Hostess of Fertility, Bell, Kivat, and his friends are currently enjoying their food while in the past version, Meteria, Kivat II, and Marlowe just arrived.
[Sokop ni kakuretetemo! Nani mo hajimannai!] A shirtless Bell was being wrapped in chains as scenes between the Past and Present started playing before him. One included Bell and Kivat readying their transformation, and one from the past showed a hooded Meteria getting Marlowe away as Kivat II flew into a nearby Fangire.
[Tozasereteta DOA wo ono ashi de kowase!] Kiva sees a glass mural formed in front of him while Bell broke free of his chains.
[Me ni miery fuan wo kazoete tomaranaide! Unmei no Rule yabutteku!] Bell allowed Kivat to bit his hand, causing his belt to appear. He hooked Kivat onto the perch, causing him to be coated in quicksilver before it changed shapes and broke apart, revealing Kiva in his stead. Meteria and Kivat II repeated this process, turning into Past Kiva.
Both Marlowe and Bell had content expressions on their faces as they took hold of Bloody Rose together.
[Me ni mienai tsunagari shinite ugoki dasou!] On Castle Doran's throne, Kiva was surrounded by his friends and retainers which included Jiro, Ramon, Rikki, Hestia, Lili, and Welf.
[You go to change! Breakin' the Chain! Tobashiteke ashita e! Don't be afraid! The world is your stage!] Kiva punches that glass mural before he reverted back to Bell with a defiant look on his face.
[Go!]
Kivat readied his partner's leg as the latter performed his signature pose on top of Castle Down before leaping off.
[Baku baku Beatin' heart! Kimi koso One and Only!] Kiva descends in a flying kick position towards the camera, creating the title upon impact.
(Present)
Bell and Kivat were doing their best to recover as the former stood up with the latter perched on his shoulder.
"Oi Bell, I remember what you promised to yourself, but…we may have no choice." Kivat said as Bell just nodded, not seeing any other options on the table.
"Kivat!"
"Alright! Kivatte Iku-!"
SLASH!
The Minotaur roared in pain as it turned around and saw his attacker; a young woman with long blonde hair and yellow eyes in armor with a sword in hand. The monster lunged at her, only to be met with a slash across the stomach. It screamed in pain as it tried to follow up with a punch, only to be met with another slash.
Bell and Kivat saw the Minotaur about to lay back in their position due to its injuries, so the two got out of the way while their female savior finished off the monster, causing it to explode into darkness.
"Are you okay?" The female asked, causing Bell to get a good look at her. He felt his heart pump as he saw a beautiful woman despite the bloody scene the two were in. The white-haired young man could barely form an answer as he was just lost in her beauty.
Normally, he would've just ran away due to his sheer nervousness for this young woman's beauty but he remembered his mother's teachings that a woman can better remember a man with a proper greeting.
"Ahem!" Kivat quietly coughed to Bell as he hid behind his partner's leg, trying to snap him out of his trance. Most people usually take Kivat's appearance as some sort of rare exotic pet provided that he didn't talk and if he were seen in the Dungeon, then he would've most likely been mistaken as some sort of Monster.
"O-Oh, yeah! I'm fine! T-Thank you so much, Miss…?"
"Aiz Wallenstein." Aiz introduced as she sheathed her sword. "And you?"
"I-I, uh-Oh, right! My name is Bell Cranel!" Bell introduced himself as Kivat facepalmed with his wing. This was just too painful to watch for him. "Again, thanks for much for the assist!"
"It is my pleasure. I should get going. Good luck in the Dungeon, Bell." Aiz said as she left the scene with while Bell just sighed in delight.
Kivat flew back to Bell's shoulder and looked at his face to see that he was still caught in the lovestruck trance.
"Better close your mouth there, partner. You're gonna catch a fly in your mouth." Kivat said as Bell snapped out of it. "You've never been much of a people person, but that interaction was a bit sad, if I'm being honest."
"S-Sorry…" Bell said as he started making his way out of the Dungeon, still giddy and excited from having met the young lady.
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to." Kivat said, crossing his arms and wings together. "You should be more considerate of your pride as a man!"
"My pride as a man?" Bell was confused as he managed to step out of the Dungeon entrance, ending back up in the lively city of Orario during the day.
Kivat then cleared his throat as he then performed an impression.
"'Bell, an Adventurer needs to pick up his girls in a Dungeon. You save a weak female Adventurer from a hideous monster, she's grateful, and the two of you get to know each other. That's the best part of being an Adventurer!'" Kivat finished in an old man-styled voice, getting Bell to chuckle.
"Ironic that the exact opposite was to occur then." Bell remarked.
"And that doesn't bother you?" Kivat asked.
"You do remember that this is Grandpa's advice that we're talking about, right?"
"Touché. Besides, you've done a lot of saving already. Only fair that you get a taste of your own medicine."
"That's not really a fair comparison." Bell said as they started entering the more populated areas, getting closer to the Guild building.
"Now's my cue to take a break, don't want to attract any unwanted attention." Kivat said as he then hid in Bell's bag.
Within only a matter of moments, Bell finally arrived in the Guild building and took a step in as a brown-cloaked figure was watching him from nearby.
"That bat…"
(A bit later)
"You went down to the Fifth Floor!?" A brown-haired green-eyed girl with brown hair and elfish ears exclaimed as Bell explained her his whole story of what happened to him today. "It's dangerous enough to go into the lower levels alone instead of being with a Party."
"S-Sorry, Eina."
Eina then looked at the bad with her arms crossed and a scolding look on her face.
"Kivat, I know you're in there." The half-elf was one of the few people that knew about Kivat being more than just a "pet". "You're supposed to be looking out for Bell."
Kivat then peeked out of the bag slightly so only his big red eyes and the top of his head were visible.
"Now come on then, we both know Bell can be impulsive in what he does." Kivat defended himself as the girl then placed her attention back at Bell.
"You should consider yourself incredibly lucky, Bell. There's not a lot of rookie Level 1 Adventurers that can survive for a Minotaur attack, let alone scratch it."
"Don't need to remind me." Bell said as he took out what remains of his broken dagger. He's going to have to spend whatever little he earned today to buy a replacement. Though he can borrow a replacement from one of his retainers, but Bell can worry about that later. "So, about the girl I asked you about…?"
"Oh, Aiz Wallenstein. I have to admit, it's quite a crush you have." Eina remarked with a sly smile.
"He was a stuttering mess. You should've seen him." Kivat chuckled. "'I-I, oh, right! M-M-My name is B-Bell-!'"
Bell then promptly shut the yellow bat up by closing and locking the bag.
"Hey!" Kivat complained as he tried breaking out.
"Not the important part." Bell waved off as if nothing happened while his winged friend struggled to get free. "So what do you know about her?"
"Hm, Aiz Wallenstein…a Level 5 Adventurer from the Loki Familia. One of the strongest swordsmen in all of Orario, the Gods have even gifted her the title of 'Sword Princess'."
"I'm not talking about things that people already know, I mean the more…uh…" Bell struggled to find a better word for it.
"Information a stalker would know?" Kivat finished, only to be hit with a couch pillow by his partner. "Oof!"
"I wouldn't put it like that, but yeah. I mean like small details like…what's her favorite food? Or if…?"
"If she's with someone?"
"Y-Yeah, exactly!"
"Hmm…well, I can't really tell you much outside of just the normal gossip. But realistically, it's going to be hard for someone like you."
"Oh…" Bell looked downtrodden as he got up, placed on his backpack, and took out his magic Stones pouch. Eina followed him with a consoling expression on her face.
"Look Bell, I'm not saying that's not impossible, it's just going to be hard. She is a key member of the Loki Familia and you are the sole member of the Hestia Familia." Eina reminded as Bell went to the Magic Stones exchange.
He deposited his findings and only god a small handful of change.
"Here you go; 1400 Valis." The guy behind the counter announced as Bell nodded, taking the coins into his money pouch. It wasn't enough, but it'll have to do for now.
"Thank you very much." Bell said as he looked at Eina.
"Listen Bell, girls like guys who are strong and are able to protect them. So, if you continue to work hard and get stronger, I'm sure she'll like you back in return one day." Eina consoled. While she can't guarantee success, hope was still something worth having.
Bell's smile grew a bit wider as he nodded at her advice.
"Thanks, Eina. I'll see you tomorrow." He said as he left the building.
(In the past)
Meteria and Kivat II just emerged from the Dungeon entrance, now arriving in the city of Orario at night.
"Think we're safe now?" Meteria asked the black and red bat as she was catching her breath.
"Yeah, the mobs of the lesser Monsters should buy us some time." Kivat II as he landed his feet on the ground to catch his breath. "So what are your plans now?"
"What do you think? Plan to set up a good enough life for us." Meteria said as she picked up Kivat II and placed him on her shoulder.
"How so?"
Meteria took out a large bag and opened a little for the bat to take a look, he saw a huge amount of gold coins and gems.
"Good thing I remember where mother always hid her spare key to the treasury." Meteria remarked with a smile. She then placed her hood back on and continued moving on. "Kivat, if I may ask; why chose me over my brother?"
"I guess…it's because of our time together since your birth." Kivat II explained as he remembered fond memories of himself playing with Meteria since she was a child. "While it was arranged for me to be your brother's partner/retainer, when you told me about your plans to leave…"
"You were that worried for me?" Meteria asked.
"I am fully aware the penalty you would face for even attempting something such as this." Kivat II then shook his head out of any other thoughts related to the matter. "Anyways, enough of that. We need rest. It's been a long day."
Meteria nodded in agreement as her stomach grumbled. She looked around for any places to eat around this time, until she heard lively violin music. It caught her attention as she saw a tavern with its lights on called the Hostess of Fertility.
"Interesting name." Kivat II remarked as the white-haired girl looked at her childhood friend of a bat.
"It's probably best that you don't talk while we're inside. Need people to believe that you're just a pet of mine." Meteria thought of. The last thing they need is attention, which included a talking black and red bat from the Dungeon.
"Very well, but don't expect me to play fetch." Kivat II grumbled as he still had his dignity to uphold.
Meteria only sighed at his response as she walked in. She saw a variety of different people in different adventuring sets gossiping, eating, drinking, and just having the time of their lives.
Meteria looked around and saw an empty table. She approached it and took a seat while a waitress approached her.
"Welcome! I'm not familiar with your face. Are you new around here?" The waitress asked
"Something like that. Just give me whatever you would recommend me for a first-time dinner." Meteria said with a convincing friendly smile. Normal food doesn't usually do it to her, but it'll be enough to provide the most basic nutrients to her.
"You got it!" The waitress smiled as she wrote everything down before finally noticing Kivat II. "Sorry ma'm, but I don't think we allow pets in the building."
"Don't worry about it. He's well-trained and I'll take full responsibility for him. Isn't that right, boy~?" Meteria smiled, slightly teasing him.
Kivat II only grunted in response as he could tell that Meteria was having some fun with this.
"Alright…" The waitress seemed convinced as she was about to leave before they noticed the liveliest group cheering with a young man with dark hair and red eyes in the center of it all; playing the violin.
"Who are they?" Meteria asked.
"They're the Zeus Familia. One of the strongest Familias in all of the city. The musician is Marlowe Cranel; he's one of the lower-leveled Adventurers of the team but he also has the most musical talent. We let him play few nights a week regardless of whether or not the rest of his Familia is with him." The waitress explained. "Anyways, I'll go get your food ready with a mug of ale on the side too!"
"Thanks!" Meteria smiled as the worker left the area as she watched Marlowe performed for his Familia. "What do you think?" She whispered to Kivat II.
"Not bad, but I consider myself a bat of refined taste." The bat replied in a quiet voice. "If he can play a more elegant tune, then maybe he's worth your audience."
Meteria was a sucker for music as she had always enjoyed the entertainment back home. One of the very few things she misses.
Marlowe finished playing and everyone clapped for him, including Meteria. The older man at the table noticed Meteria, causing the latter to look away as she hoped she didn't catch attention. As Marlowe sat down, the older man smiled as he walked over to him and whispered something.
Meteria noticed and was curious as to what this was all about before her food and drink was served.
"Here you go! Let me know if there's anything else you need." She smiled before leaving.
Meteria and Kivat II stared at the food given to them, which was consisted of a roasted mutton leg, vegetables, and a separate bowl of mashed potatoes. Meteria started eating the mutton, trying her hardest to savor the food. Kivat II helped her through, genuinely enjoying the meat unlike his friend.
As Meteria chugged down on her ale, she noticed Marlowe approaching her.
"Uh, can I help you?" Meteria asked as Kivat II noticed the young man as well.
"Uh, yeah, hi." Marlowe started as he looked back at his table where the older man gestured him to continue along with other members of the table. "Um, my name is Marlowe Cranel and you are…?"
"Meteria and this is my pet bat; Kivat." Meteria introduced, getting a grunt out of said "pet".
"So, I never seen you around here before. Are you new to Orario?" Marlowe asked, trying to get a conversation going.
"Something like that. I'm just passing by." Meteria explained as she took a sip from her drink. Her original plan was to spend a couple days in Orario to make sure there were no loose ends before leaving the city and starting a new life for herself.
"Oh, so you really don't know a lot about Orario, huh?" Marlowe asked as he slowly looked back at his table, seeing his Familia Leader Zeus and fellow Adventurers gesture him to continue.
When Zeus noticed Meteria gazing at Marlowe, he thought it would be time that this young boy became a man.
"I can't say I have, no." Meteria answered honestly, trying to figure out where Marlowe was going with while Kivat II just wanted bite into him for annoying them.
"W-Well, m-maybe I can show you around for a bit? Or maybe show you more of my music?"
"What other kinds of music can you perform?" Meteria asked, slightly curious due to her love for the arts.
"W-Well, I've been dabbling a bit in the classical arts and…" As Marlowe was continuing to list every genre of music he's been playing before Meteria noticed three men enter the tavern. What catches her attention was the dark uniform that Meteria and Kivat II recognized from anywhere.
"Time to go." Kivat II whispered, getting his friend to nod in agreement.
"Uh listen Marlowe, it was nice meeting you and all, but I really have to leave! If I can give you some advice; a woman can better remember a man with a proper greeting." Meteria took some of her gold coins out and laid them on the table. She saw her chance to bolt out the tavern as the men were asking around about her.
Unfortunately, one of those men noticed her already, having seen her heterochromatic eyes through her hood and Kivat II on her shoulder. He immediately followed, worrying Marlowe as he saw all of that.
'What was that about? Is she in trouble?' Peer pressure or not, Marlowe quickly followed those two out the door as he was genuinely worried for her safety.
(In the present)
Bell and Kivat have arrived in the rundown church that was supposed to be their Familia headquarters. Most Familia leaders would have a big mansion or building to house their adventurers, but Goddess Hestia didn't really have much income going for her so this was the best she can make for her sole member.
It didn't bother the two as they aren't demanding people. Having a place to eat, sleep, and train a bit was enough.
"We're home!" Bell announced as he and Kivat entered through the door. Just then a sudden blur tackled Bell in a tight hug.
"Welcome home, Bell!" A small girl with blue eyes, black hair tied in twintails, dressed in a white tattered dress with a blue ribbon, and white flip-flops. This was Bell's Familia leader; Hestia.
"Good to be home…" Kivat sarcastically responded as he noticed something on the table nearby and flew over to it.
"You two are home early!" Hestia remarked, focusing her attention entirely on Bell.
"Well, we ran into a bit of a rough patch in the Dungeon. Almost died-." Upon hearing the word "died", Hestia immediately checked every inch of Bell's body to ensure that there were no wounds on him.
"Huh!? Where!? You don't feel anything!?" Hestia checked frantically as Bell sighed.
"I'm fine, Lady Hestia, really."
When Hestia checked Bell's backside, she noticed Kivat on the table doing something which immediately caught her attention.
"Kivat…what are you doing?" Hestia asked, sounding almost menacing.
"Wraht?" Kivat asked, his mouth sounding stuffed. He turned and the two can see a fried potato stuffed halfway in his mouth, much to Hestia's dismay.
"Kivat! Spit that out!" Hestia said as she ran at him, causing the bat to fly up to a height where she couldn't reach him as he finished his potato.
"Finders keepers!" Kivat fought as Bell noticed the plate of fried potatoes.
"When did you get this many, Lady Hestia?" Bell asked.
"Oh well, remember that I started to work part-time at a food cart? This is my reward for bringing in so many customers!" Hestia said, completely focused on Bell now as Kivat flew down and landed on the table. "How about we all have a tiny dinner party? I won't let you have any sleep tonight!"
Bell smiled at Hestia's efforts. Since he became the only member of her Familia, she's been working hard to keep them afloat. It was pretty admirable. The three soon take part in dinner as they all ate happily on the couch.
"Unfortunately, I still can't find anybody else who wants to join my Familia." Hestia complained as she chewed on her potato.
"Well, all the blessings are the same. Just a shame that you don't have much outside of that." Kivat pointed out, causing Hestia to sigh in defeat as she couldn't defend herself from that statement.
"Still…I don't mind it just being us for now." Hestia commented. It was no secret (at least to Kivat) that Hestia is quite smitten with Bell, given that he was the only Adventurer to give her a chance. In return, Bell introduced his partner to her and the exact "nature" of their relationship, which she took really well all things considered. "I do feel a bit guilty about you two doing the heavy-lifting for the team while I'm behind."
"It's nothing to worry about. You are handling things well here with your part-time job, even getting dinner."
"But that's about all I can do…" Hestia complained as she finished her dinner. The white-haired young man noticed her getting down so he silently got up and grabbed something to help cheer her up. "I wish I was able to use my Arkanum, my divine power. But using it would mean breaking the rules we deities agreed to. I'm so sorry that you had to be stuck in a Familia with a useless goddess like me-."
Before she can finish her sentence, Bell started playing the violin in front of her. It was one of the few things that Bell brought with him on his way to Orario. The violin he was using was the same one his father used when he started playing. For Bell, one of his dreams was to make and perfect his own version of the violin like his father did.
Skill-wise, Bell never considered himself to be on par with his father, who he heard so much about, but he was not an amateur. He would play this music when Hestia would ever get upset or if the mood needs to lighten up. Soon he finished with his song, getting Hestia and Kivat to clap as Bell bowed in appreciation.
"Now Lady Hestia, you need to stop worrying about this kind of stuff. We're just getting started here! I know we can push through together at the rate we're working in." Bell cheered up, causing Hestia to smile widely.
She nodded in agreement.
"Thanks, Bell! I'm really lucky to have someone like you." Hestia remarked as she stood up. "Alright, let's update your Status and make that future a dream come true!"
Later, a shirtless Bell was lying stomach down on the bed as Hestia was on top of him. She activated the Falna tattoo on his back, reading all of Bell's stats with Kivat flying around her and getting a peek himself.
"So, does it bother you that my partner here has become quite smitten with Miss Aiz Wallenstein?" Kivat quietly asked Hestia.
"EEHHHH!?" A blushing Hestia let out, causing a slightly confused Bell to turn his head.
"Is something up?"
"No! No! No!" Hestia said as she grabbed Bell's head and turned it the other way. "Don't be ridiculous, bat! I'm sure Aiz Wallenwhatsit already has a guy or two wrapped around her fingers, given her popularity." She whispered to Kivat before noticing a detail that caught her and Kivat's attention.
"Do you guys really have to talk about this kind of stuff here?" He asked, surprising the others. "I have ears, you know?"
Hestia and Kivat only sighed as the former took a piece of a paper, placed it on Bell's back, and used her magic to record everything she and Kivat saw down. She got off of Bell before giving him the sheet of paper.
Bell looked at his new stats and seems a bit disappointed that not much change with the exception of the minor boost in Agility, thanks to his run-in with the Minotaur earlier ago today. He soon noticed something faded in the Skills section.
"Hey guys, what's up with the Skills section?"
"Oh that's-." Kivat started as Hestia then shut him up with a whack from the pillow.
"My finger slipped. It's been empty as it always was." Hestia admitted.
"I see…" Bell said as he was a bit disappointed, hoping he got something.
"By the way, no appearances yet?"
"Huh? Oh…" Bell knew exactly what she was saying. "Kivat and I spotted a few on the upper levels, but we took care of them before any of them can reach the city."
"And any in the city itself?"
"Not for a while, no." Bell replied as he then looked at a display case nearby. Inside it held his father's magnum opus; the violin known as the Bloody Rose. Its appearance and rumored performance screamed perfection as Bell can only imagine what it was like when it was used by his father. One of his dreams was to create and play an instrument just as beautiful. "Anyways, I'm going to work on my violin project."
Hestia nodded as Bell approached his workbench and started to work. Kivat flew and landed on Hestia's shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell him of his Skill; Liaris Freese?" Kivat asked as Bell was too devoted to his work to notice the conversation.
"The skill accelerates growth. As long as his feelings remain strong, it'll remain in effect."
"Well at least Bell finally has a Skill, so why didn't you tell-?" Kivat then pieced it together. The word "feelings" brought up and given Bell's feelings for a certain blonde…it all made sense. Bell got this skill because of Aiz. "Oh my gods, you're jealous!"
"Shut up! Just don't tell Bell!"
"Ha! Ha! Fine!" Kivat said, much to Hestia's relief. "Only to keep teasing you!"
Kivat laughed again at Hestia's expense as the goddess then tried whacking him again with a pillow, only for the bat to dodge while Bell smiled and shook his head at their antics.
(With the hooded figure)
The hooded figure, equipped with a black mask, wandered into an empty warehouse and saw others dressed like him.
"I…I believe I found her offspring." The hooded man said, getting the attention of everyone.
"Should we alert His Majesty?" Another masked figure asked.
"Nonsense, we've spent years building this all up. If this child is truly the son, then there's no reason why can't dispose of him ourselves." Another added, sounding very confident. "If not, he'll at least serve as a meal for us."
There were talks amongst the group until one of them turned their hands into a monstrous claw and slammed it on the table, getting everyone's attention.
"Thank you for the attention." The man said, turning his arm back to normal. "If this boy is truly her successor and truly too much for us, then we'll alert the Kingdom. For now, let us give him a proper test."
The proposal got everyone's attention.
"What do you propose?"
"Nothing too complex. Just a simple fight to bring out what this boy has in store…"
As this man was detailing everything, another hooded figure was watching the warehouse from the roof of a neighboring building. A white mechanical bat, like Kivat, flew and landed on his shoulder. He had red droopy eyes and fangs on the bottom of his mouth.
"So this is the fabled Fangire Kingdom settlement we've heard so much from this world, doron doron? They don't seem so impressive, Arc doron." The Kivat lookalike complained, looking disappointed.
"It matters not. If this settlement is our best lead to the Fangire Kingdom and Kiva himself, the best we can do is watch until our full power returns." Arc said looking at his hand and clenching it into a fist.
When he and Arc-Kivat were revived by Dark Decade, their true power couldn't be restored and ended up as a shell of what they once were. Their only option was to hang back and watch while coming up with plans on how to restore themselves. They can still fight, separate or together, just not at the level they desired.
"Just don't make me wait too long, doron doron." Arc-Kivat continued whining. "I miss having the power to destroy many with little effort."
"You and me both, old friend…" Arc said as he and his partner left the area through a Gray Mirror.
(The next day with Bell)
After brushing his teeth, getting his equipment, and eating his breakfast, Bell and Kivat headed out.
"Another day, another Valis…" Kivat groaned as he peeked his head out of Bell's bag. "Think we'll run into one of 'them' in the Dungeon? Been a while since we've fought together."
"I'm not complaining. Those we found are usually scouts or renegades." Bell said as he looked deep in thought. "Though I would know ahead of time if any are attacking."
"I know…I just don't like being cooped up for too long. You know how impatient I can be at times! I want to be the star too!" Kivat complained as he went back in the bag, causing Bell to chuckle.
"We'll have our time again, Kivat. I promise." Bell promised as he felt a strange presence around. Not something he was used to, but it felt…off.
"Um, excuse me?" A young woman's voice asked.
Bell looked in the direction of it and saw a young woman with gray hair and eyes in a Hostess of Fertility uniform.
"Oh sorry, didn't see you there? What's up?" Bell asked as the woman pulled out a small Magic Stone.
"I think you dropped this." The woman explained as Bell examined it.
"A Magic Stone? Thought I turned them all in yesterday." Bell said as Kivat peeked out of the bag a little to look at the young lady. "Thanks." Bell smiled, grateful for the assistance but Kivat felt something else.
There was an aura around her and Kivat couldn't put his wing on it, but his gut tells him that something is wrong.
"You're an Adventurer, right? Heading to the Dungeon?" The woman asked as Bell nodded.
"Yeah, something like that." Bell explained.
"Maybe you should consider stopping by here when you're done for the day?" She asked with a pretty smile on her face. "You're gonna be really worn out after fighting the whole day and the Hostess of Fertility is one of the most popular taverns in the city for a reason. Take a load off~!"
"I, uh…" Bell seemed to really think about it before he nervously nodded. "I-I, uh, can't promise anything, but suppose it wouldn't hurt."
"Yay! Thank you, um…?"
"Bell Cranel."
"Syr Flova. Hope to see you tonight!" Syr looked really excited as she rushed into the Hostess and started setting up.
Kivat then peeked his head out again to look at Bell.
"Clink."
"Clink?" Bell seemed confused as he continued making his way to the Dungeon.
"That's the sound of the collar and leash she's putting on you. Played to her tune and now you're gonna waste whatever earnings we made today in that tavern. At least tell me you'll get us something good!" Kivat said before sighing. "Your mother was right, you're really gullible."
"And your father's advice can be brutal." Bell fought back as Kivat laughed at that.
"No argument there!" Kivat then went back into the bag.
(In the Dungeon)
Bell was currently cutting his way through the monsters, while Kivat has been flying around, distracting and slashing any Dungeon Monster that's been trying to get the jump on Bell.
When the area's been cleared, the white-haired young man sat down and took deep breaths as Kivat sat on his shoulder, looking just as exhausted.
"Always feel like we've been here for a while." Kivat muttered before looking at Bell expectantly. "Say Bell, can we please practice together?"
"Huh?"
"Come on, we haven't fought together in a while now. We need to make sure that we aren't getting rusty. Practice does make perfect, after all." Kivat said determinedly.
Bell thought about it and while he did promise himself and Kivat that they would only fight under specific circumstances, the bat did have a point in wanting to remain in shape. Plus…
"Please, Bell!" A certain female voice said in his head, causing Bell to smile widely. He looked around and saw that there were no other Adventurers or Supporters nearby
The two then heard more Dungeon Monsters on their way up as Bell looked at his friend/partner.
"Alright Kivat, just this one time…"
"Yes! Kivatte Ikuze!" Kivat cheered as the two charged headfirst into the oncoming horde…with Arc and Arc-Kivat watching from around the corner.
(Later at the old church)
Bell was currently having his Stats checked on by Hestia on the bed, while Kivat was happily eating some snacks. Hestia seemed a bit annoyed as she recorded everything down before she got off of Bell and gave him the paper. His red eyes widened in delight as he took a look at his new stats.
"Wow, would you look at all this! It's like looking at two different people!" Bell said as he looked at the papers. "I've scored over 160 Ability Points! Kivat and I only got hit once and my Vitality went up by 30! Same goes for my Strength and Dexterity! None of this has happened before!"
Hestia only glared at Kivat who was finishing up on his snacks, silently telling him to keep quiet to which the latter complied.
"So Lady Hestia, how did this happen?" Bell asked, wondering what the cause of his sudden skill increase.
"You got me!" Hestia angrily got off the bed before going to the closet and getting out one of her nice coats. She placed it on as she stopped at the door, not even looking back. "I'm going to small party with my co-workers! I won't be back until late so you better enjoy a good dinner by yourself and Kivat!"
She then abruptly left, much to Bell and Kivat's surprise.
"Lady Hestia?" Bell looked at Kivat, who just flew over to his side. "What was all that about?"
"You got me." Kivat lied. "So anyway, we got a good haul today including an item drop that was worth a lot. You might be able to buy those violin parts you need along with dinner!"
"Hmmm…It has been a very good day." Bell was usually very conservative about his money, but just like what happened in the Dungeon today, he can make an exception. "Alright, I suppose this can be a good time to check out that tavern that Syr works at."
(At night)
Bell, having just bought the violin parts he needed, was in front of the Hostess with Kivat resting on his shoulder. They haven't looked inside yet but judging from the noise, it sounded like a lively place with dancing, music, and laughter filling the area.
"Ready?" Kivat asked, getting a nod from the white-haired teen as he made his way inside. Bell looked around and Syr saw him.
"Oh, Bell!" Syr approached him with a wide smile on her face. "You're here! You actually came!"
"And so, I did." Bell smiled back at the waitress then focused on Kivat.
"Who's this cutie!" Syr asked as Kivat blushed a little at being called "cute".
"This is my pet, Kivat. Say hi."
Kivat only let out a cheerful grunt, knowing that he can't speak normally for obvious reasons.
"You don't mind if I'm bring him in there with me, right? Usually, wherever I go, he goes." Bell said as Syr thought about it.
"I don't see any issue with him as long as he behaves." Syr smiled as she continued petting him, making Kivat give out muffled chuckles.
"It won't be a problem. He'll behave, right Kivat?"
Kivat just grunted once more, which Bell took as a yes. The gray-haired waitress guided them to a stool at the bar table.
"Have a seat here and my boss can take care of you from here." Syr explained as Bell took the seat and Kivat landed on the table in front of Bell. "Just let me know if you need anything else."
Bell nodded as Syr left. Within a short amount of time, Bell ordered the tavern's signature pasta, two cups of lemonade, and a bowl of chicken soup for Kivat. Their orders were soon served by a tall woman with long brown hair tied in a ponytail and brown eyes.
Bell and Kivat were awestruck by the size of their food.
"So you're Syr's friend, huh? Name's Mama Mia and I have to say you look pretty cute for an Adventurer." Mia complimented as Bell resisted blushing.
"Please don't tease me." Bell said as he looked at Kivat, who was already halfway done with his soup. "You don't mind pets here, right? I know Syr said it's okay, but I just want to make sure."
"The little guy?" Mia smiled as Kivat was currently drinking his glass of lemonade. "I know the type. I doubt he can cause much of a ruckus. Feel free."
"My type?" Kivat wondered as he emptied his glass. "I'm one of a kind! There's no label for someone like me! Right, Bell?"
"…"
"Bell?" Kivat looked at his friend who seemed to be counting to himself and seemed stress. "Oi, Bell. There a problem?"
"Huh?" Bell snapped out of his counting, looking at the yellow bat. "Sorry about that, I was just counting how much money we've spent. I know you said we did well today and can spoil ourselves a bit but…I really want to help the Familia-."
BAM!
Bell stopped himself as a plate with a large fried fish was presented to the two.
"One today's special coming up!" Mia announced.
"I didn't order that!" The teen protested.
"Don't hold back! You're still young! Build up what you can!" Mia replied as she attended to the other customers.
Bell looked at the menu to see how much today's special and what he saw caused him to turn as white as his hair.
"850 Valis!"
Syr then approached Bell with same enthusiastic smile.
"So how are things going for you here?"
"I'm a little overwhelmed…" Bell said, trying to put up a smile.
"Well, I'm having a lot of fun and going to be having a huge payday tonight!" Syr said as Bell and Kiva started to work on the fish. "Isn't it great how many different kinds of people come here?" She asked, looking at all the patrons of the Hostess having fun feasting, drinking, gambling, etc. "When there's so many people, there's so many things to discover…I can't help but feel exited. You could say that my hobby is meeting new people. It makes my heart pound."
"I'm…so happy for you." Bell muttered in a blank tone as he looked at the palm of his free hand as he looked around at everyone else. After a few moments, he shook his head and tried to snap himself out of his thoughts before…
"Nya! The reservations have arrived! Get the table ready!" A waitress announced as a large party hosted by a woman with red hair tied in a ponytail and seemingly closed eyes. The large party seemed to consist of a pair of Amazon twins, a young man with blonde short hair, a dwarf in armor, a male werewolf, a green-haired elven mage, an auburn-haired elven mage, and last but not least…Aiz Wallenstein.
"That woman is quite a looker!"
"Idiot, that's the Loki Familia; the giant-slaying Familia!"
"T-Then that makes her the Sword Princess!"
Bell was stunned by her sudden appearance that he didn't notice Syr's waving hand in front of his face or Kivat poking him with his own fork.
"Bell?"
As their feast was served to them, Loki raised a mug in their honor.
"Alright everyone, this here's to another good day's work in Dungeon!" Loki cheered as she and everyone else of her Familia toasted to that.
"So that's the Loki Familia, huh?" Bell asked, trying to get more info out of Syr.
Syr nodded.
"They're regular customers here with Loki, their goddess, really enjoying the place." Syr replied as they noticed said goddess trying to grope Aiz, only for the blonde teen to bonk her on the head.
"That hurts, Aiz!" Loki complained.
"You brought that on yourself." Aiz calmly answered as Bell eyed her, not even noticing that Kivat has now moved onto eating his pasta.
"Hey Aiz, let's tell them all about that thing." The werewolf, Bete, said as he looked extremely drunk.
"The thing?"
"Yeah, you know. We ran into a bunch of Minotaurs on our way out, but some escaped. You took the last one out on the Fifth Floor, having to say some wimpy-ass kid, right? Obviously, some sort of kid who just started adventuring. I'll give him some props for trying to take thing head-on, but the way he was doing it…just asking for death. Then our princess had to save him. How lame is that, right?" Bete laughed as Bell just looked down at himself, hearing every word as clear as day. "If I was him, I wouldn't be able to show my face anywhere after such an embarrassing save!"
Kivat stopped eating as he looked at his friend's face, feeling bad about what happened.
"Come on Bell, don't let him get to you. You're better than this." Kivat consoled, but his words fell on deaf ears as Bell's hands clenched.
"Enough of that, Bete. You're drunk." The green-haired elf scolded. "It was our fault that the Minotaurs escaped from the Seventh Floor to the Fifth. We're only lucky that no one was killed. You should be ashamed."
"What's wrong with calling trash what it is? If people can't be strong enough to stand up for themselves than they have no right to stand with us, especially with someone like Aiz!" Bete argued as he looked at said girl. "Tell me Aiz, who would you rather go out with? Me or that winpy kid should that kind of choice comes?"
Not wanting to hear an answer, Bell grabbed a pouch of coins and placed on near his food.
"This should cover for the meal. Thank you." Bell calmly said as he grabbed his violin parts and rushed out with Kivat following him.
"Bell!" Syr called as Bell ran past Aiz. The blonde recognized him and rushed after him.
"Huh, Aiz?" Bete called as Loki just laughed.
"Guy must have some guts doing a dine-and-dash at Mama Mia's!" Loki drank as she continued drinking her ale.
As Bell ran out the door, the hooded black masked man appeared in front of him and quickly knocked him to the side and grabbed him by the collar.
He examined Bell with a growl coming from his mask.
"That face, your hair…yes, you are her spawn. But that smell, it's so intoxicating. Makes me want to puke." The masked man angrily remarked as he held Bell against the wall. As Bell came to, he heard the sounds of a violin playing which caused him to widen his eyes.
"You are…" Bell realized as Aiz saw this scene and tried to interfere.
"What are you doing?" Aiz asked the masked man.
"Back off! This isn't any of your business." He protested.
"I said let him go." Aiz tried to grab him by the shoulder as the man growled again. Bell took this opportunity to whack the masked man with his bag of violin parts. Despite the parts being destroyed from that, it was enough to make the man drop Bell. He ran away before the masked man can do anything else, causing the latter to scream in irritation.
"You damn bitch!" The man said as he looked at Aiz. "You can make this up to me. Lucky for you…I'm hungry!"
The man soon transformed into the Horse Fangire before punching Aiz in the abdomen, the force knocking her out and throwing her a few feet away from the Hostess. Before the Horse Fangire can do anything, Kivat appeared and slashed him with his wings.
"Don't you have any manners for women!?" Kivat asked as he then flew away before the Horse Fangire sees Bell calmly approach him.
"Kivat!" Bell called as the bat let out a huge smile.
"Right!" He flew around Bell in excitement. "Been a while since we did this against one of them! Kivatte Ikuze!"
Bell caught Kivat in his hand as the latter opened his mouth and the former allowed him to bite his free hand.
"GABU!"
Glass-stained tattoos appeared around Bell's body as a hypnotic kind of sound started playing while chains formed around Bell's waist. It then turned into a blood red belt with a perch on the buckle and three whistles on each side.
Bell held Kivat out in front of him.
"Henshin!"
Bell placed Kivat on the perch upside down. Kivat gave off multiple sound waves as Bell's body became covered in quicksilver. The quicksilver morphed Bell's body into a different shape before breaking apart, revealing an armored figure in Bell's place.
His torso consisted of a blood red metal body that mimicked muscles. Around it was silver metal that looked similar to a vest that connected shoulder guards that were constricted by chains. Under the top part of the armor was an all-black body suit that went down to the person's feet. Around the wrists and ankles were more of the silver metal, but this time they looked like bracelets. On the figure's knees were metal knee guards. Both hands were the same blood red in color as the chest, though they looked to be partially clawed compared to regular hands. The figure's right leg was heavily armored with silver metal up to the knee, and was confined by chains like its shoulders. Around the figure's waist was some odd belt, with what look like different colored whistles on the sides. The buckle looked like a bat. The helmet of the figure consisted of a silver mouth guard that resemble fangs and at the top was red metal making an odd shape with a small green gem in the middle of it. The visors for the eyes were two large yellow eye pieces that shaped like bat wings. This was Kamen Rider Kiva.
Kiva then charged as he performed a flying side kick, hitting the Horse Fangire in the head. The monster flew away from Aiz as a result and Kiva chased after him. The monster landed on the ground and got up to see Kiva charging for him. The Ride leaped high in the air with a punch ready, but the Horse Fangire rolled out of the way causing Kiva to punch the road instead which left a huge dent.
"I won't be bested by some sort of…abomination!" The Horse Fangire declared as he summoned a sword of blue stained glass. He then charged at Kiva, who was easily dodging every attempt to hit him. Meanwhile Aiz started to come to as she opened her eyes and noticed the fight not too far from her. She recognized the monster that knocked her out, but not Kiva.
"Who is that?" She wondered as she got up and tried to move in closer to get a better view of the fight.
Kiva then laid one punch onto the monster's face, making him stumble back. Kiva then let out a series of punches while dodging the Horse Fangire's attempts to retaliate. The bat-themed Rider was laying punches with a lot of weight and fury behind them.
'How disgusting!' Kiva thought as he dodged the next attack but grabbed the Horse Fangire's arm before twisting up until…
SNAP!
"AAARRRGGHH!" The Horse Fangire screamed in pain as his broken arm dropped the sword.
'I can't forgive myself!' Kiva then elbowed the Horse Fangire in the face before clawing at his chest, causing sparks to fly as the monster stumbled back. 'Thinking I can even stand by her side without even proving it, just like…'
In Kiva's mind, he briefly saw the image of a younger Bell and Kivat in the middle of a field talking to a woman with long white hair and a black and red bat on her shoulder. She seemingly smiled at the two before picking up her bags and leaving them alone.
The Horse Fnagire saw this distraction as his opening so he summoned his sword back and proceeded to slash Kiva multiple times, snapping him out of his thoughts. Kiva just groaned in pain as the Horse Fangire tried to deliver the killing blow by stabbing him, but…
"Niche try!" A muffled Kivat said as the sword was part-way into his mouth.
'I've got to move faster, do whatgever it takes…!' Kiva thought as he regained his strength and delivered his strongest punch to the Horse Fangire's face. The impact was so strong that it actually caused his face to crack.
The Horse Fangire screamed in pain as Kiva delivered a flurry of punches.
'Faster! Faster! Faster!'
Kiva then ended his combo with a kick to the abdomen, causing the monster to fly a couple of feet before landing on the ground.
Seeing that the Horse Fangire was downed and weakened, Kiva took out a Fuestle with a red head on it before placing it in Kivat's mouth, which the latter blew.
"WAKE UP!"
Kivat got off the belt and flew around his partner readied himself while the moon turned to a crescent moon, much to Aiz's surprise. Kiva then lifted his right leg out while Kivat flew around until the chains around his boot shattered, revealing two red bat wings and a red layer underneath with three glowing green gems.
Kiva jumped up high in the sky, performing a backflip before aiming his right leg at the monster in a flying sidekick position. He landed his kick, right onto the Horse Fnagire's chest who then landed on the floor. The force of the attack also caused a large imprint of the Kivat insignia to appear.
The Horse Fangire groaned in pain until he became motionless, his body turning into stained glass before breaking apart, leaving behind his life energy orb and mask.
Meanwhile next to the Dungeon, the floor right behind the entrance opened up and a roar can be heard. A large purple dragon with a castle for a body flew out of the compartment. This was Castle Doran.
The monster flew to his master's location and landed, startling Aiz.
"A Dragon?" Aiz was surprised as no one has seen a big matured dragon in years, let alone fought one and now this armored stranger is seemingly controlling this one. Who was he?
Castle Doran looked at the energy orb as Kivat flew off the belt and landed on Kiva's shoulder.
"Come on now, don't play with your food." Kivat said as Castle Doran finally caught the energy orb with his mouth, chewed, and swallowed. Castle Doran let out a satisfied groan as he flew away before others can notice his appearance. Dragons weren't exactly welcomed in Orario, at least not as big as Castle Doran was. The armored warrior soon noticed the mask on the ground and picked it up and clench it when he noticed the symbol of a chess Pawn on the forehead of it.
Kiva was about to walk away as he saw nothing else to do when…
"Wait!"
Kiva turned and saw Aiz, his eyes to widen and his face to blush a bit. He was so grateful that he was wearing a helmet.
"Who are you?" Aiz asked as Kiva said nothing except one word…
"Cloak." Kiva muttered, using the only Spell he knows to seemingly vanish. Aiz looked around seemingly confused as it was now clear that Kiva was gone. She had not seen so much strength and power in such a person, let alone a monster that can appear here. A part of her wondered if this person was stronger than her and could be what she was looking for.
Aiz looked down at the insignia of Kiva and jotted it down to memory before leaving, not wanting to worry her Familia any further. Unknown to her, Kiva was watching her from the rooftops before proceeding to return home.
(In the past)
Meteria continued running down an alleyway a bit further away from the Hostess as she saw a one of the uniformed men met her at the end of it.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Meteria was about to run back in the other direction with the remaining two blocked her off.
"That's enough." One of them said as Meteria and Kivat II were looking at their options, but there doesn't seem to be any options for running.
"Now, let's head back. Your family are no doubt worried sick about you."
"I'm not heading back, you damn Pawns…" Meteria stated clearly.
"We can do this the easy way or-."
"Hey-!" Marlowe called, getting everyone's attention. "I don't know where you guys are from, but that's not how you treat a lady."
He couldn't care less about attempting to flirt with Meteria, but it was obvious that she needed help.
"Leave us! This has nothing to do with you!" One of the Pawns warned as Marlowe eyed Meteria before punching two of the Pawns and gesturing the girl to run with him.
"Come on!"
Meteria nodded as she ran away through the opening Marlowe gave her. Marlowe tried to buy her time by continuing the small brawl before one of the Pawns transformed into the Horse Fangire and grabbed him by the neck.
"I gave you a chance to run!" The Horse Fangire said as he threw Marlowe to the side. The Adventurer got up to see the other two Pawns transform into stained-glass monsters resembling an octopus and moth. "You two find the girl. I'll deal with this nuisance."
"W-What are you!?" Marlowe said, drawing out his sword and seemed tense as he was now dealing with a talking monster.
Not too far away, Meteria peeked out of the corner and saw both the Octopus and Moth Fangires getting closer to her while Marlowe was losing his swordfight to the Horse Fangire.
"Dammit Kivat, they're getting closer and one of them can kill that guy." Meteria said.
"Well, what do you plan to do? We can't just keep dodging them forever."
"Maybe…Maybe I gotta make it clear that I don't intend to head back outside of words." Meteria said as glass-stained marking appear on her but Kivat II stopped her.
"If you really want to send a message, may I make a proposal?" Kivat II asked as he relayed his plans to Meteria, making his friend smile.
"You sure about this?"
"I made it clear that I'll do everything in my power to help and I plan to do just that."
Meteria's smile widened at that answer.
"Alright, let's do it." Meteria said as she got out of cover, getting everyone's attention. "Kivat!"
"Very well. Be grateful. It's extinction time!" Kivat II said as he flew into Meteria's hand.
"GABUI!" Kivat II then bit her free hand, causing a different type of glass-stained markings to appear before chains were wrapped around her waist. The chains materialized into a black version of Kiva's belt with six whistles like before.
"Henshin!" Meteria said as she held Kivat II out and placed him in the belt.
A green-tinted version of the quicksilver coated her body, molded into another figure before breaking apart, revealing said figure in its entirety. Outside of the obvious female figure, her armor was a darker red while the silver parts were a darker tone. The biggest difference was the helmet. The red helmet of the figure consisted of a silver mouth guard that resemble fangs and at the top was black metal that resembled more of a bat. Lastly, as opposed to yellow, the visor was now green. This was Kamen Rider Past Kiva.
Marlowe and everyone else were extremely surprised at Meteria's transformation.
"You dare use that power against us!?" The Horse Fangire exclaimed. "Can you even use it effectively?"
"Let's find out." Past Kiva said as she charged at the group.
AN: And that's it. For all of you wondering why it's Past Kiva instead of Dark Kiva, it's because at this point of time, Kivat II is still young and has only scratched the surface of his full potential.
On a personal note, I apologize for not getting this out sooner than I wanted to but better sooner than later, right? Anyways, please review or send PMs for questions, comments, or concerns. Don't be afraid to review this chapter, send questions, or look at my other fics.
