This story is in correlation with my other two Teen Wolf stories, Awake and Alive and No One Else! The three intertwine with each other quite often but in different points of view, so I would recommend reading those as well so everything makes sense. I hope you enjoy!
While most of the students left school after the bell rang, Delilah had sat down next to a tree out front. Her laptop was open and she was laser focused on the saved files in front of her. Ever since she had discovered the new part of her identity, she wanted to learn everything there was to know about it.
There wasn't too much information she could find online since who normally searches up mythological creatures on their spare time? Probably Stiles, but he was on another planet. But based on all of the information Deaton had given her the day before, Delilah thought the caladrius was a pretty fascinating creature. After she explained to Isaac what she was, he even thought it was cool.
The most Delilah could find on her laptop about the caladrius were just pictures of a big white bird. But it was absolutely beautiful, especially its wings. Delilah wondered if she would grow wings too.
Now that would be an interesting sight- a werewolf with wings. She'd probably look like a demon from hell.
"Hey."
Delilah looked up and saw Scott walking towards her. She hadn't really spoken to him since that day in chemistry class when they tested Lydia. There was no hostility between them, but just more awkwardness then anything.
Smiling politely, she just simply said, "Hi, Scott."
"Where's the rest of your pack?" he asked, "It seems like you guys are always joined at the hip, especially you and Isaac."
"Derek said he needed Isaac's help with something so he pulled him out of class earlier. What about you? I never see you alone much either."
"Stiles and Natalie said they needed the 'night off'." Delilah raised her eyebrow. "Yeah, I'm not sure what that meant either."
"And no Allison?"
This made Scott's smile fall a tad. "Things are getting a little more complicated with that."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Delilah apologized sincerely.
But the teen wolf shrugged. "It's expected to happen. You're lucky you and Isaac are going through this together. Even though you're not fully werewolf."
"Deaton told you?"
That shouldn't have come as a surprise to the brunette. Scott did work for the veterinarian after all. He was bound to tell him everything he knew.
Nodding, he sat down next to her. "He gave me a little rundown." He saw the picture on the laptop. "Is that it?"
"In all its glory," Delilah answered, "Just a couple weeks ago, I never even knew this kind of stuff existed. I was just a normal girl living in a troubled house. And now I'm half dog and half bird."
"Or an angel," Scott reminded her.
"Or an angel," Delilah echoed. She let out a sigh. "I don't know if I can handle all this power. How do you do it?"
"It's not easy. When I first got the bite, I was scared. I didn't want it. But I did end up having quite a bit of help along the way. And you do too. Especially in Deaton. He's pretty resourceful."
"That's true."
"Anabelle also told me about what happened with your mother and stepfather. I understand why you made the decision you did. I'm sorry."
Delilah shook her head. "Don't apologize. It's for the best. Things could only go up from here. Right?"
"Sure," Scott smiled, although he couldn't really be so sure himself, "Let's hope."
It grew silent between them until they spotted Jackson walking to his car. He got in and drove off to who knows where. Delilah was recently informed that he had been the kanima all along. So now every move Jackson made put everyone on edge.
Turning his head to Delilah, Scott asked, "You don't have any plans for the rest of the day, do you?"
"Let me guess-" the brunette said, "you need a ride?"
"Maybe."
The hybrid closed her laptop and smiled. "Let's go."
Both of them hopped in Delilah's Volkswagen and she followed Jackson's car. It was already dark out by the time Jackson finally stopped at an abandoned warehouse in the sketchy part of town. They waited until he got out of his car and was out of sight before getting out of Delilah's car. They kept their distance as far from him as possible so he wouldn't see them. Then they reached a huge flight of stairs and Delilah thanked god that she stopped letting Erica dress her up so she got to wear her much more comfortable flats.
They reached the top of the stairs and hid behind a wall. A long line was formed by a bunch of people they went to school with. It led to a window that was shielded by bars. On the other side of the window was a young woman that was selling tickets with two larger men standing behind her.
"This must be for that rave everyone keeps talking about," Scott whispered.
"Yeah, when they say 'underground show' they weren't kidding," Delilah said back, "Do you see Jackson?"
"Yeah, he's just right in the middle," Scott answered, pointing to the boy in question whose face was blank. He must have been in pre-kanima mode. It was so unsettling and he wasn't even fully shifted yet.
Scott nodded his head toward the line and led Delilah to the end of it. About five people in front of them was Matt Daehler. Delilah didn't really know too much about the guy, but she did hear about the scandal that occurred just a few months ago where he was caught taking pictures of girls changing in the locker room. That was enough for the brunette to decide that she didn't like him. Plus she always saw him hanging around while she was at guard rehearsals so she was sure there were photos of her on his camera too. What a creep.
"Matt," Scott called to him stepping out of line, "Matt."
Said boy turned around. "What?"
"How much are tickets?" Scott asked.
"75."
Geez. Yeah, there was no way in hell Delilah was going to be able to go to this. Bummer.
"Can I borrow some money?" Scott asked.
"Yeah, how much?" Matt asked.
"75."
Even Delilah could've predicted that that wouldn't work. The look on Matt's face clearly said 'fuck, no' and he turned back around. Embarrassed, Scott rejoined Delilah back in line. He gave her a pleading look and she immediately rolled her eyes.
"Scott, I work at a dance studio," she told him, "I'm not exactly rolling around in cash."
"Sorry," he said, "I thought I'd give it a shot."
"Next!" the ticket lady called out. Jackson was next in line. He slowly walked up to the window. "How many?"
When Jackson didn't say anything, the lady looked up. He still was silent but just held up one finger. The teen wolf and the hybrid could see that the woman was looking suspicious of the weird attitude. But she just sighed and held out her hand. Jackson handed her a bunch of dollar bills in exchange for one ticket. He plucked the ticket out of her hand, but he didn't leave right away. He just kept staring her down.
She had enough of this. "Let's go," she told her men, "Let's get out of here. Let's go."
One of the men pressed a button and the elevator they were standing in went up, disappearing from the view. The students in line groaned in disappointment when they realized they weren't getting a ticket to the rave.
However, that was the least of Scott and Delilah's worries. Jackson was going to kill someone at the rave. By the way his interaction with the ticket lady went down, they had a feeling who the next victim was going to be.
Delilah had originally planned on going home after dropping off Scott at work so she could hang out with Isaac alone finally, but the teen wolf had other plans. Apparently Deaton wanted Scott to bring her into the animal clinic with him and said he wanted to give her something. It sounded a bit too mysterious to Delilah but she trusted the veterinarian. He was the only one who could help her adapt to her caladrius side after all.
The teenagers walked into the clinic to see Deaton at his operating table with a cage on it. When Delilah took a closer look inside, she saw a beautiful Persian cat who had just given birth to a litter of kittens.
"Oh my god," she cooed, "They're so adorable!"
"She had just given birth an hour ago," Deaton said as he opened the cage and reached in. He pulled out a kitten that was about the size of Delilah's palm, which was not very big. "This one here is the runt of the litter. He might be a stillborn. I tried to check his heartbeat but it's very slow and faint."
Now the hybrid understood why she was asked to come along. "May I?"
"Of course." Deaton placed the immobile tiny thing in her hands gently. "Since he's newborn, his eyes aren't open yet so you won't be able to judge based on sight if he'll survive or not. We'll have to go strictly off of your healing capabilities."
The kitten's body was so tiny that Delilah had to use only her finger to touch over his heart. She just hoped that would be enough to save the little guy.
Scott was in awe when he saw her violet eyes for the first time. He was so used to the normal yellow, blue, and red eyes everyone else had that Delilah's almost made his jaw drop. Especially when he saw the purple veins and glow. Once the glow around the kitten died down, Delilah's heart almost stopped when he didn't move. She raised him to her ear. No heartbeat.
Oh, no. God, please don't let this be first casualty in the caladrius's hands. Not this precious little baby.
God must have answered her prayers because the kitten let out the tiniest little meow and his body started wiggling. Delilah just about had a heart attack.
"Holy shit," she breathed out, "Excuse my language, but this is definitely not for the lighthearted."
"It will get easier the more you do it," Deaton chuckled. He already had a bottle of water for the girl on standby, which she highly appreciated as she started to feel her energy draining. "I also have something for you." He pulled something out of his pocket and held it out for Delilah to take.
"An amethyst crystal?" she questioned, setting down the kitten back in the cage with his mother.
"It will help remove the stress on your soul and revive your energy after using your healing powers," Deaton explained, "And since you are also an empath, this can help you connect to another person's soul, even the ones that don't attract you right away."
"So I look into this after I heal someone and it should work?" Delilah asked.
"Yes. And after you use it, you must charge it every time by sitting it in direct sunlight since that's what dissolves the illness you remove."
"Wow." The brunette inspected the amethyst, gleaming in the room's lighting. "It's like you're a wizard or something." She raised an eyebrow. "You're not a wizard, are you?"
"No, I'm just a veterinarian, I promise," Deaton laughed.
"Believe me, I thought the exact same thing when I first found out how much he knew," Scott chuckled along.
A knock rapped on the door so Scott went to go answer it. "Hey, is it okay if I take a look at the Roman Mythology book?" Delilah asked.
With a kind smile, Deaton handed her the book and went after Scott. Delilah hopped on the counter and crossed her legs so she keep the book steady. Even when she wasn't at school, Delilah was still studying. Such an overachiever as Isaac would say.
There wasn't much else that was in the book on the caladrius that Deaton hadn't already went over with her. But Delilah really wanted the information engraved in her memory. The one part that was definitely sticking with her was that if she looked away from the person that she was trying to heal then that meant they would die. That alone made her feel anxious. Delilah understood that it was going to be unavoidable when the time came, but that didn't mean the pill was an easy one to swallow. Having someone's life or death in her hands was a lot of responsibility that she needed to prepare herself for.
Delilah could feel her energy running low so she took another sip of her water. She set the bottle down and she eyed the amethyst next to it. Now was probably the time to put its magic to the test. So Delilah picked up the crystal and stared deeply into it. Her eyes turned violet as she put all of her focus into the amethyst's powers. The longer she stared, the bigger the light hues shone around it. She could feel the energy returning to her body. At least she knew it worked. Deaton really was a resourceful man.
"Delilah?"
Reality kicked in when said girl heard her name. She looked up at Isaac, Scott, Derek, and Anabelle who were all entering the office and staring back at her.
"Oh." Delilah lowered her amethyst. "Hi, guys."
"Hey," Isaac said, walking up to her, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, you know," Delilah said as she picked up her book, "Studying."
"See, you ended up having your date night after all," Anabelle smirked, patting Isaac's shoulder.
The beta frowned at the remark but it quickly turned into a smile when Delilah kissed his cheek. He pecked her lips before helping her off the counter.
All of the werewolves and the hybrid watched as Deaton set a flight of small glass jars on the operating table after returning the cat and her babies to the back. The jars contained powders and liquids, things Delilah couldn't identify. She still didn't believe that Deaton wasn't a wizard after seeing this stuff. Isaac went to grab one of the jars but Derek quickly caught his wrist.
"Watch what you touch," he scolded.
Isaac lowered himself so he was at eye level with the jars. "So, what are you?" he asked Deaton skeptically, "Some kind of witch?"
"No, I'm a veterinarian," Deaton answered. Delilah giggled when saw Isaac get a little embarrassed. He heard her so he poked her side, making her laugh more. "Unfortunately," the vet continued, "I don't see anything here that's going to be an effective defense against a paralytic toxin."
"We're open to suggestions," Derek said.
"What about an effective offense?" Isaac asked.
"We already tried. I nearly took its head off. And Argent emptied an entire clip into it. The thing just gets back up."
"It's almost as if it can't be killed," Anabelle added.
"Has it shown any weaknesses?" Deaton asked.
"Well, one- it can't swim," Derek answered.
"Does that go for Jackson as well?"
Delilah shook her head, "He's actually the captain of the school's swim team."
"Essentially you're trying to catch two people," Deaton told the group. He walked over to one of his drawers and pulled something out. He held up what resembled a charm or a coin. It featured a symbol of a figure sitting in a controlling pose. "A puppet- and a puppeteer." He set the charm down. "One killed the husband, but the other had to take care of the wife. Do we know why?"
"I don't think Jackson could do it," Scott spoke up, "His mother died pregnant too, and was maybe murdered. I think he couldn't let the same thing happen to someone else."
"How do you know it's not part of the rules?" Isaac asked, "The kanima kills murderers. If Jackson kills the wife, then the baby dies too."
"Does that mean your father was a murderer too?" Scott asked the blond.
He shrugged. "Wouldn't surprise me if he was."
The hybrid rubbed Isaac's back when she heard this. If that really were the case, that solidified that the man really was a villain. But Delilah knew that was still hard for her love to come to terms with. Isaac relaxed under his girlfriend's touch and kissed the top of her head.
"Hold on," Deaton said, "The book says they're bonded, right?" Derek and Anabelle nodded. "What if the fear of water isn't coming from Jackson, but from the person controlling him?" He picked out a jar that contained black powder. "What if something that affects the kanima also affects its master?" He dumped the powder around the charm.
"Meaning what?" Delilah asked.
"Meaning we can catch them," Scott realized, "Both of them."
"Delilah Lambert?"
Said girl looked up from her book to the school's guidance counselor, Ms. Morrell. It was part of her bargain with the police to start talking with a counselor after all of her trauma. Delilah was more than willing to do it, but she was still nervous. She had never gone to any sort of therapy before. Before then, she was always worried that she would be taken out of her home. Now that wasn't so much of a fear anymore since the police was letting her stay with Isaac and Anabelle. And maybe it would be best to actually talk to someone instead of keeping everything bottled up like she was used to doing.
Closing her book, Delilah stood up and followed Ms. Morrell into her office. The hybrid sat down as Ms. Morrell searched for her file. The guidance counselor didn't necessarily look mean. But there was something about this whole situation that made Delilah squirm in her seat a bit.
"Ah, Roman Mythology," Ms. Morrell commented when she saw Delilah's book, "I see you're into folklore."
"It's just a hobby I picked up recently," Delilah told her sheepishly.
"I see." Ms. Morrell sat down and opened up her file. "I had spoken to the sheriff about your case. I wanted to offer you my condolences for your mother and stepfather. I know that the death of someone who was abusive is a bit of a tricky situation. But what are your feelings towards your stepfather's death?"
"I mean, it is a lot of mixed emotions," Delilah admitted, "Of course I don't wish death on anyone."
"But?"
Chuckling humorlessly, Delilah shook her head. "Lawrence was a bad man. That's all I had ever known him to be for literally half my life. The things he had done to me is unforgivable. Like, what kind of sick bastard takes advantage of their own stepdaughter? I apologize for my language."
"Don't worry about it," Ms. Morrell assured her, "So the reports were true about him sexually assaulting you." The brunette nodded. "I can't even imagine what it must be like to carry that burden on you."
"Sometimes I get night terrors… but they feel so real. There are times where I feel like I can't even get undressed without feeling like something's crawling all over me. I can't even be intimate with my boyfriend without seeing his face."
"And your mother didn't believe you."
"She actually slapped me when I told her. That was when I really needed her and she still had chosen him over me."
"But she did shoot him for you. Does that make up for things and earn your forgiveness?"
"No." Delilah sunk in her chair a little. "Maybe… it's so complicated. I know she's my mother and I do love her… but she finally did something way after the damage had already been done. It's not that easy." She could feel her eyes starting to pool with tears and she wanted to scream. "God, I'm so sick of crying."
Ms. Morrell placed a box of tissues in front of her. "No one can blame you for feeling. It's a lot of demons that you have to face alone."
"I'm just thankful that I'm not alone anymore," Delilah told her as she dabbed the tears away.
"That's right, you do have Isaac Lahey. How has he been through all of this?"
Absolutely amazing. There were so many reasons that Delilah thought he would leave but he just came back with many more to stay. Isaac didn't blame her for being so traumatized that she couldn't have sex with him like she wanted to. Instead, he would always embrace her even closer and tell her that he would do anything to make her feel safe. Not many guys their age would ever be that understanding. Hell, they definitely wouldn't take a bullet for her either.
Even while Isaac was overcoming his own battles from his troubled life, he was still willing to put her needs over his. And Delilah couldn't thank him enough.
Instead of boring Ms. Morrell with all of the sappiness, Delilah just smiled softly and said, "He's been a real angel."
After her session with the guidance counselor had ended, Delilah went to her locker to grab her book for first period. The tension in her body disappeared when a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist. Tilting her head up, she smiled as she was met with her favorite pair of ocean blue eyes.
"Hi," Isaac smiled down at her.
"Hi," Delilah echoed.
"I have something for you." Isaac let go of his love as reached into his pocket and pulled out two tickets for the rave.
"You actually got the tickets?" Delilah said in disbelief as she took one out of his hand, "I thought they weren't selling anymore. How did you get them?"
A couple of guys from the lacrosse team walked by. They saw the beta who shot them a cunning grin. Frightened, the guys pushed each other forward and ran off.
Delilah cocked her head at the odd interaction. "Do I dare ask?"
"Nah," Isaac told her, "It's best if you just leave that one a mystery."
"I figured," Delilah laughed, "I wish we could actually enjoy the rave. But duty calls, I guess. Thanks a lot, Jackson."
"I know, you little dancing queen," her boyfriend joked, "but maybe we can sneak in one dance before we catch him."
"How romantic."
As Delilah closed her locker, Isaac seemed to be digging through his pocket once again. This time the cockiness shifted into bashfulness, something Delilah hadn't seen since their early dating stages. He pulled out a little black box.
"I got you something else too." He handed her the box.
"What is it?" Delilah's breathed hitched when she opened it and saw what was inside. "Oh, wow…"
Inside was a necklace. There were was a small charm hanging from a chain that looked like angel wings. In the middle of the wings was a small amethyst gem. It was breathtaking.
Pulling the necklace out of the box, Delilah couldn't stop staring at it. "Isaac…"
"Anabelle helped me pick it out," he told her, "While I'm still unclear about what will happen now that your a caladrius, I do know they are meant to have wings. So I wanted to make sure you get your wings."
The biggest smile stretched across Delilah's face so wide that her cheeks were hurting. She turned her back towards Isaac and swept her hair over her shoulder. "Help me put it on?"
Nodding, Isaac wrapped the necklace around Delilah's neck and fastened it. She held the charm in the palm of her hand, admiring the gem that matched her new crystal.
"Do you like it?" her love asked.
"I love it," Delilah answered.
She took his hand and pulled him closer to her. Her back was pressed against the locker as he lowered his head down to kiss her. His hands caressed her baby soft face as she gently grabbed his blond curls.
The first bell rang, interrupting their sweet moment. At least it wasn't Erica this time. As much as Isaac wanted to continue to kiss Delilah, he had to pull away. But he held out his hand towards her.
"Come on. I'll walk you to class."
His girlfriend placed her smaller hand in his and not once did they let go as they walked together.
It was rave time. Or to be exact, kanima-hunting time.
The silver bug pulled up in front of the now crowded warehouse. Students from the high school were getting hyped up as they made their way into the building. Erica was practically bouncing from excitement in the backseat of her best friend's car. She drummed her hands on the back of Delilah and Isaac's seats.
"Not exactly what I had in mind for my first high school party," she chirped, "but I'll take it."
Isaac snorted. He then looked at his girlfriend, who had her hands still tightly gripping the steering wheel. She was staring at the building with an undetectable expression. For once though, she didn't look nervous, which Isaac saw as a good thing.
"You ready, baby?" he asked her.
When Delilah looked at him, she smiled with newfound determination. "Let's dance."
Tonight the hybrid took it upon herself to dress differently than she normally did. She didn't go the provocative route that Erica experimented on her, but Delilah definitely didn't play it safe. She decided to take the blazer that she had worn for her dance solo and pair it with a black lacy bustier, distressed jean shorts, and she even gave the ankle boots another try. Her brown hair was in blown out waves and her eyes smoky but decided to leave her lips natural.
It was like looking at a new person in Isaac's eyes. It wasn't a bad thing, however. In fact, it seemed to be that Delilah was now figuring out who she was. Finding out she was half werewolf and half caladrius had to have played a role in that. She was learning to be more confident, and Isaac loved to see that.
The three of them strutted into the building and pushed through the flaps hanging down the entrance. Bass booming, glow sticks waving around, teenagers jumping around- it was definitely popping on the dance floor. Delilah, Isaac, and Erica smirked at each other before pushing their way past the crowd as they searched for Jackson.
"You see him anywhere?" Erica asked them.
"No," Isaac shouted over the music, "He can't be too far off though. It's not exactly a huge building."
Delilah's eyes roamed over the crowd and stopped when she spotted someone familiar leaning against a beam off to the side.
"Hey, I found Scott," she said, "Maybe he's seen Jackson."
"You two go ask him and I'll keep looking out here," Erica told them before dispersing into the crowd.
The couple maneuvered their way towards Scott, hand in hand. His back was turned towards them and his mind seemed to be elsewhere. So when Isaac placed a hand on his shoulder, Scott whipped around.
"Take it easy, it's just us," Isaac said, raising his hands is in defense.
"Sorry," Scott said but was still distracted.
"Hey, we were wondering if you've found Jackson yet," Delilah wondered.
"No, not yet. But there's been a slight change in the plan. The Argents are coming. They know Jackson's the kanima."
Isaac and Delilah looked at each other. This wasn't good. "So now what happens?" Delilah asked.
"You two are going to have to stall Jackson," Scott told them. He pulled out a small bottle and a needle. "This is ketamine. Deaton and I use this at the office. It will slow Jackson down once he he's injected with it until we can figure out what to do next. But you're going to have to inject him."
"Why us?" Isaac asked.
"Because I got to make sure that Argent doesn't completely ruin the plan. Okay, look, you better do it intravenously which means in the vein." Scott passed the needle and the bottle to Delilah. "When you find him, you pull back on this plunger right here." He held Delilah's hand as he helped her trace each part of the needle. "In the neck probably is going to be the easiest. So you find a vein, you jam it in there, and pull back on the trigger. Be careful."
"Oh, I doubt it'll even slightly hurt him," Isaac chuckled.
"No, I mean you." The couple looked up at Scott, who was staring back at them. Specifically Delilah, which Isaac didn't miss. "I don't want you two getting hurt." Then he left to go deal with the Argents.
Making sure that no one was paying attention to them, Delilah unscrewed the cap off the ketamine bottle. She stuck the needle in and drew back the plunger so she could fill it. Since it was a small bottle she figured it was best to use all of the ketamine.
The whole time Delilah's hands were trembling. She just remembered seeing her mother and Lawrence injecting themselves with drugs. It was etched into her brain and it was too much for her. How was she going to do this? Especially when her hands were shaking so goddamn bad.
"Baby?" Delilah looked up at her boyfriend. "Are you okay?"
She nodded her head. "Yeah. I'm fine." She put the needle and bottle in her pocket.
Isaac started to see his love's confidence slightly drop. But then he began to smile when he thought of something. "Come on." He cocked his head towards the dance floor.
"Right now?" Delilah asked when she realized what Isaac was implying, "But shouldn't we be focusing on finding Jackson?"
"We still have plenty of time," Isaac assured her, "One song wouldn't hurt. Besides, I promised my dancing queen at least one dance tonight."
He held out his hand for her to take. Delilah gazed deep into his eyes, sincere and desperate to make her happy. She could never say no to him. So she placed her hand in Isaac's and let him pull her out to the dance floor.
A new and even more upbeat song had started. Just like always, the music became one with Delilah and she began to bob her hips and sway along to the beat. Even Isaac seemed to be getting into it. His body jumped along natural to the song, motivated by the beautiful girl dancing in front of him. Isaac decided she was too far away from him so he wrapped his arm around Delilah's and brought her closer. Their bodies pressed together tightly as they moved in perfect harmony. Shivers ran down the hybrid's spine as Isaac lowered his lips to her ear and sang along to the only lyrics this song had.
I know this pretty rave girl
Always think about her
And when she says hi to me
Butterflies go right through me
And when I see her dancin'
Wanna take a chance in
Getting a little closer
And maybe get to know her
Delilah began to pepper kisses along her boyfriend's jawline until she got to his earlobe and she lightly bit it. Isaac groaned at this, cursing that they weren't alone right now. But that still wasn't going to stop him from crooking his finger under Delilah's chin and kissing her. Her hands fisted his shirt as the kiss was becoming deeper and hungry. Their bodies were still dancing along to the music and when Delilah felt his increasingly hard member poking her center, she could feel herself getting turned on fast.
The next song started to play. Still in his arms, Delilah spun herself around and rolled her body against Isaac's. His hand slid down just a tad so it was resting on her hipbone. He pushed it so her butt would rub up against him. Delilah raised her hand so she could grab Isaac's hair and bring him back down so she could kiss him again.
From across the dance floor, Erica saw her friends dancing. Then she finally found Jackson sauntering towards the woman who was operating the rave. Slyly smiling, Erica made her way towards him and grabbed him by the arm. She tried to be as seductive as possible so she could entice Jackson and pull him towards Delilah and Isaac.
Once they reached the couple, Erica pulled them closer so they were now dancing together in a train. It was incredibly steamy as the teenagers started grinding and kissing each other. Isaac continued to make out with Delilah and Jackson kissed Erica's neck as the two best friends rolled their hips against each other. This was so not like any dance party Delilah had ever been to, but she didn't mind one bit.
But then she remembered the assignment Scott gave her when Isaac slipped his hand into her back pocket and pulled out the needle. He passed it to Delilah so she could stick into Jackson's neck.
The kanima seemed to catch on. He dug his claws into Isaac and Erica, making them wince.
"She belongs to me," Jackson growled deeply before retracting his claws.
Isaac and Erica fell onto the ground. Delilah was still standing though. She flashed her violet eyes at Jackson as he tilted his head. She raised the needle but he backhanded her face and she fell next to Isaac as Jackson tried to reach his next victim. Delilah reached for the needle but on of the patrons kicked it out of her way. She began to panic as Jackson was getting closer to the woman. But she couldn't falter as she stood up and searched for the needle.
Luckily her boyfriend was able to grab the needle and slide it over to her. "Delilah!"
Said girl caught it and hurried behind Jackson. She jabbed the needle into his neck and pulled back the plunger. Jackson began to fall but Delilah was able to catch him before he could fall. Isaac and Erica had gotten up and helped her drag the unconscious kanima off the dance floor and out of the warehouse.
They found a smaller building next to the warehouse and carried Jackson in. Erica shut the door as Delilah found a chair for Isaac to sit him on. The door then bursted open and Erica was about to swipe until they saw it was Stiles and Natalie.
"Uh, no, no, no!" he exclaimed, "Just us, it's just us."
"Yeah, chill the fuck out," Natalie said as she shut the door. She and Stiles looked over at Jackson.
"He okay?" he asked.
"Well, let's find out." Isaac said as he stepped to the unconscious boy. He extended his claws.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Natalie warned.
"Watch me." Isaac he went to scratch Jackson but the boy caught his hand and squeezed it hard. The beta groaned when his bones broke. "God-"
"Isaac!" Delilah grabbed her boyfriend's bicep and pulled him out of Jackson's grasp. "You okay?"
"Peachy," Isaac winced.
The redhead snorted. "Told you."
Isaac just flipped her off with the hand that wasn't broken. Delilah took his hand and looked at it with her purple eyes.
"Okay, no one does anything like that again, okay?" Stiles announced.
"Oh, I thought the ketamine was supposed to put him out," Isaac groaned as Delilah began to heal his hand.
"Yeah, we'll apparently this is all we're gonna get. So let's just hope that whoever's controlling him decided to show up tonight."
Natalie then saw Jackson open his eyes and stare at the group. She swallowed down a nervous gulp. "Uh, guys?"
"I'm here," Jackson growled out, almost echoing throughout the room, "I'm right here with you."
Stiles and Natalie cautiously walked up to him.
"Jackson, is that you?" Stiles asked.
"Us," Jackson answered deeply, "We're all here."
The odd couple exchanged glances. "Are you the one killing people?"
"We are the ones killing murderers."
"So all the people you've killed so far-"
"Deserved it."
"See, we've got a little rule book that says you only go after murderers," Natalie said.
"Anything can break if enough pressure is applied," Jackson growled.
"So all of the people you killed are in fact murderers?"
"All. Each. Every one."
"Well, who did they murder?" Stiles asked.
"Me."
That seemed to shake up the entire room in confusion.
"What does that mean when you say 'me'?" Natalie asked.
"They murdered me."
The betas and the hybrid took a step back, Isaac pushing Delilah behind him. All of them watched in horror as Jackson's eyes turned yellow and slitted. His face started to shake like he was the one having a seizure.
"They murdered me."
Jackson then began to shift even more. Scales formed along his arm down to his razor sharp claws. "Okay, alright. More ketamine," Stiles demanded hurriedly, "The man needs more ketamine. Come on."
"Baby?" Isaac turned to his girlfriend since she was the one in charge of giving Jackson the ketamine.
Delilah's eyes grew wide when she held up the empty bottle. "Yeah, about that…"
The rest of the room snapped their heads at her. "You used the whole bottle?" Stiles said in annoyance, grabbing the bottle from her.
"Hey, back off her," Isaac said as he shoved him.
"Okay, you know what- Natalie, hold me back because I'm about to kick this guy's ass right now."
"Bring it, Stilinski."
"Isaac-"
"Can everyone just shut the fuck up for two seconds!" Natalie yelled turned her back away from Jackson as she rubbed her temples, "God. Okay, what we need to do is figure out what we're supposed to do with him-" Erica patted Natalie's shoulder. "What?"
While Natalie had been busy scolding at everyone, Jackson had stood up from his chair. Everyone backed up against the wall as he roared at them. Then his head started to whip around like a lasso.
"Um… okay, out, everyone out," Stiles ordered.
"Go, go, go, go," Isaac said as he grabbed Delilah.
All five of them rushed outside and slammed the door shut behind them. Isaac held Delilah tightly as Stiles spread his arms out in front of Natalie and Erica.
"Okay, find something to move in front of the door," Stiles said.
Bursting through the wall next to them was the kanima. They watched as he took off into the night.
Natalie was fuming. "Yeah, we probably should've SEEN THAT COMING!"
The five of them ran back inside the rave. They all dispersed as they searched for the kanima. Delilah pushed past the dancing crowd towards the front where the DJ was so she could get a better view of the area. Her eyes scanned around until she saw blood splattered on plastic curtains.
Slowly, Delilah walked towards the curtains, hands shaking like always. She drew back the curtains and immediately closed them when she saw the woman who was running the rave lying on the ground with her throat ripped out. A gasp escaped past Delilah's lips and she covered her mouth. Nausea was beginning to take over as the gory sight branded itself in her memory. Her eyes were now glued to the curtains, even when she heard Isaac call for her.
"Delilah!" He ran up to her. "I can't find him anywhere." Isaac took in his girlfriend's frozen stature. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"We're too late," Delilah squeaked out as she pointed to the curtains.
Isaac followed the direction she was pointing and his eyes widened as he pulled her back. The music then turned off as the lights turned on and the DJ announced that the party was over. Everyone started leaving.
"Let's go," Isaac said, grabbing Delilah's hand.
They found Erica among the departing crowd and they ran outside. Just as they saw Stiles and Natalie standing with Derek, they stopped. For some reason, they couldn't seem to actually get to them. It was like something was blocking them off. The three of them looked down at the ground and saw some type of powder or ash laid out in front of them. Delilah looked side-to-side and discovered that it was surrounding the entire warehouse. And they weren't able to cross it.
However Stiles and Natalie laughed in amazement.
"Oh my god," Stiles exclaimed happily, "It's working. Oh, this is-" he pumped his fists up, "I did something."
"That's what I'm talking about, baby!" Natalie laughed. She and Stiles smacked their hands together three times before bumping chests, which they immediately regretted afterwards. Natalie groaned as she rubbed her chest. "Bad idea."
Derek rolled his eyes. Suddenly, a howl broke out from the distance. "Scott?"
"What?" Natalie asked, the teenagers all getting concerned.
But then they heard something else. Scott's howl was followed by a softer one.
"Anabelle. Break it."
"Why?" Natalie cried out, "Do you know how long it took us to make this? Hell no!"
"Anabelle and Scott are dying!"
"Okay, what?" Stiles asked, "How do you know that?"
"Oh my god, you guys, I just know!" Derek yelled at them, panicking to get to his childhood best friend, "Break it!"
Stiles threw his arms up, but he bent down and broke a line in the mountain ash trail anyway. Derek pushed past the two and ran to go find Anabelle and Scott.
None of them had said anything as they waited for their alpha. Delilah began to feel lightheaded from using her energy to heal Isaac's hand. Earlier that day she had taken the necklace Isaac had given her and attached the amethyst crystal Deaton gave her through the chain so she was able to have it on her. She rubbed the crystal until the dizziness subsided.
"How are you doing that?" Stiles asked in bewilderment. Delilah didn't even realize she was being watched.
"I'm half caladrius," she simply answered.
But that just seemed to confuse the twitchy boy and his girlfriend even more. "Well, that's a new one."
Delilah couldn't explain much more because Derek had finally come with Scott in his hold and Anabelle over his shoulder. All of the teenagers grew worried for the two wolves they've grown to admire and care for, not knowing if they would survive. Derek nodded his head to reassure them that they will be fine. Although none of them missed how he kept looking down at them like he was actually just as scared as they were. Especially when he looked at Anabelle.
But there was no time to waste. Derek needed to get them help fast. While Delilah wanted to offer her healing powers, she remembered Deaton's orders on not healing more than one person a day until she becomes more confident in them. So instead, she tossed her keys to Derek.
"Take my car," she told him, "We'll walk. Just go."
Taken aback by the gesture, Derek slowly nodded his head to thank the hybrid. He set the dying wolves in the car and drove off as fast as he could.
Everyone was exhausted and feeling defeated from the night, so they said their goodbyes and parted ways. There was no telling what would happen next.
