Author Notes :

Prologue is over and this is chapter 1 and now we moved into the story. The whole story will tell Kuvira's journey to redeemed herself for her mistakes. There will also several Avatar and co.'s appearance and performance showed in the story, so the story will be tell from two point of views, Avatar's and Kuvira's (alongside the Alliance). But mostly of course this story will tell it from Kuvira's point of view. The events in this chapter and possibly the next several chapters will occured at the same time with the Turf Wars's plot. haven't decided yet if Korra and Asami will be girlfriends, but of course those two will be very close (almost like a lover, but not a lover, you get what I mean).

Kuvira prison chamber is the same design as in Ruins of the Empire, same as where Zaheer located, but Kuvira's prison is separated from Zaheer as Kuvira detained in different facility.

So, here is the story, enjoyed !

Chapter 1 : Realization

It had been a two days since she was imprisoned in one of White Lotus prison. She was defeated, her dream and ambition to reunited her homeland gone. She surrended it all to the Avatar. Now she has nothing left besides her clothes right now. A worn t-shirt with equal worn pants. Detained in the prison, in a vast hall with engraved wall without anyone in her line of sight, the hall filled with silence and loneliness. She can't do anything right now, even with the prison made of stones and her mastery over earthbending, she can't go anywhere, the world already know what she did, what she had done, people will not accepted her as they used to be, especially Earth Kingdom, Zaofu, and Republic City, especially Beifongs. She will always be remembered as the criminal, as the villain, as disgusting though in the heart of people who once she called family. She back to her former condition before Suyin brought her in. A nuisance, a disturbance, a plague that must be erradicated. She has no one now, she was on her own.

She realized it now, after she was saved by Korra during their last fight in the City's spirit forest, when she almost died, when she transfered to the spirit world and had that 'talk' with Korra. She realize how far her path had gone. The re-education camp, forcing people to her will, manipulating people, damaging the spirit vines, harvesting it, and even used it to invaded a free nation, to shot it to hundred of innocent civilian, but mostly to her precious people. All those years of conquest, all those people who died, all those people who suffered, all those people she hurted, all those people she betrayed, all in her own hand. I don't deserved anything anymore. She thought and unconsciously, she felt her eyes watered and flowed down to her cheeks. Regretting everything she had done, she brought her knees to her chest, held it close with her arms, eyes closed tighly, body trembling and shaking, body curled up and fell to the floor beneath with sobs.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please let me redeemed it, please let me atone all my mistakes, please give me another change, please forgive me," she whispered continuously between sobs, and finally her last mask broke as feeling of despair, sadness, shame, regret, pain, fear, remorse, all exploded with every teardrop that came out from her eyes, every scream of despair and desperation turned into a silent cry for hours. Then the cry ended, her eyes became heavier, and she fell asleep on the ground.

Unknown to her, the whole emotional outburst was watched by a group of people from behind a one-way mirror in the observation room facing right to the hall. These people was the Alliance high ranking as well their best and most skilled members, with addition Vice Admiral Eli Vanto and Grand Master Ezra Bridger himself watched it via hologram. Never occured to them that one of the most fearless, strongest, and skilled earthbender broke down to this level, to the level even her enemies would pittied her. The group felt gloomed and somber seeing the once proud earthbender woman in her condition right now. The Great Uniter was also a human after all.

"She regret her faults and her ways during her time trying to reunite the chaotic country. When no one dare to take action, she emerge and take all the obstacles head on with her ambition," said Ka Trell solemnly to the rest of the occupants of the room.

Now, they understand the admiral intention in all this time. To show that every person, no matter who they are, they always have their moment to show their side of weakness and vulnerable. The Great Uniter before them right now not the Great Uniter at all, just a young woman who felt neglected, left behind, abandoned, all because her point of view different from them. The woman before them not a strong earthbender General Iroh described in one of his quotes all those years ago. A woman who just want recognition, acknowledgement and most important love from people who she cherished most. And when she took action with noble cause to reunited the kingdom, she withour realizing it had created a distance crack with her so-called precious one. And that led to her misguided and wrong path in the process itself. That led her to her defeats and near death situation in Invasion of Republic City, and ironically was saved by her own adversary.

"She wants to redeem herself for all those mistakes, I believe we can give her a change and guide her to the right direction. She has changed after her talk with Avatar Korra in the spirit world, realizing what's wrong with her methods. She's only a young woman who misguided and neglected from the start, even after Beifong adopted her to their family. We will guide her and became what she will cherished, we will support her in everyway, she will be our family and help her in her redemption," finished Trell as he looked at other occupants of the room who fell silenced by his point of view regarding someone's error.

"Then you got Jedi support in this, Master. It is our philosophy to help those in need and bring them back to light and show them peace," said Nilo with several Jedi knights at her side.

"You have my permission to help Kuvira to be a better person and help her facing every obstacle in her journey for redemption," said Ezra via hologram, surprising any other occupants, even though Trell know Ezra will eventually agreed to help Kuvira to redeemed herself. Then his eyes trailed to his troops.

Felt being watched by everyone, Vort sighed and watched his fellow Commanders for agreement, and with a simple nod from every one of them, he spoke, "Well, all this time our CO always have a hunch regarding certain matters and it looks like the hunch was always right, and if this is one of your Jedi hunch and intuition," as he said that, he looked at Nilo and the Jedis, who nodded and continued, "we will be with you till the end." Uttered the Marshal Commander alongside the nod of agreement of his commanders & soldiers.

But not all occupants of the rooms happy with the admiral plan. Several White Lotus agents in the room started to shouted incoherently about stupid decision and way of thinking. The Grand Lotus himself quiet in silent for a while, while inwardly he felt rage started to built within him and that led to his outburst.

"What kind of thinking is that! Kuvira is a cold-hearted, merciless, cruel, and unredeemable war criminal that had caused hundred of people died and suffered in the process!" shouted Daizan angrily as well as White Lotus agents nodded in agreement. But his rants not stopped there as he continued, "Not to mentioned she disturbed and make the spirits angry by cutting the vines from Foggy Swamp! Not all people can be redeemed, Admiral!" exclaimed the Grand Lotus.

"she heavily damaged the Republic City by those spirits weapon she created from the vines, killing people in the process and we don't even do anything to stopped it while in fact we are strong enough to stopped her and her group before it escalated!" he reached his peak of anger. The audience can only watched and flinched by every word that came from Daizan's mouth. The only one who seemed unaffected is Ka Trell while he stood there motionless.

"not to mentioned her soldiers and the re-education camp all across the nation. People died in those camp and you simply asked us to agree with your plan? What make you sure she will not try anything to regained power using our resources and turned it against us?!" asked the Grand Lotus in wrath. He began to breathing heavily befor finally took a deep breath and calmed himself out.

"Are you finished, Grand Lotus?" asked Trell calmly as he needed to knocked some sense into the Grand Lotus regarding Kuvira. Now calmer than earlier, he nodded. Trell acknowledged this and then gestured his hand to Kuvira's still crying form.

"You can see it yourself, she is crying, she said it to herself, Grand Lotus. She regretting everything she has done and want to redeem herself. As you said, yes, not all people can be redeemed, but Kuvira was not one of those people as I believe she can! said the admiral, although he emphasizing the last part.

"as I said earlier, she was misguided from the very beginning, now one to told her which is right and which is wrong. Even you know our organization not perfect either. Just like you said, we sat comfortably while the world is struggling in its own. But sometimes, from the darkness of our heart, if we courage enough and realized our mistakes just like Kuvira did, a bright sunshines will followed and set a new start for us and Kuvira." Said Trell before his face turned 180 degree seriousness.

"for the re-education and the Empire's remannt, we will deal with them later. And if she try to escape, runaway, or anything that endangered people, nations, or the Alliance, I will take her down myself." Finished Ka Trell determined to save Kuvira from herself and help her to started a new chapter in her life.

Seeing no point to argued anymore and a bit convinced by admiral's speech, Daizan sighed and looked at the admiral's speech. "Very well, if you believe we can help her, then so be it. But she must proved herself to the Alliance. She will be watched 24/7 and conducted into a team of four."

The admiral looked at Daizan and nodded, "seemed fair enough, but I choose the team and during her time in prison, treat her well as a human and a woman, not some mental patient." Said Trell as Daizan nodded in agreement as well as the White Lotus agents and then gestured to the door.

"Now, let's go before the outsider aware or suspicious of your presence here, we don't want to create a confusing matter right?" Said Daizan gesturing the group to left the room, and eventually the prison.

Hearing a repeated 'beep' sound from the alarm lamp on the wall, she stirred to woke up slowly and try to sat up because it seemed that she has laid down during her sleep. After sat up, she opened her eyes and felt more relaxed. Maybe my best sleep in the last three years. A minute of silence occured before she started to recalled what had happened last night. The smile dropped and changed into somber one remembering her current situation now, she had no one and all people she ever known hated her right now.

Her eyes started to watered once more and had few tears fell to the ground. But before it escalated, a sound of alarm voiced to her ear, she blinked a couple times and her face snapped to the source of the sound. The source itself was an alarm on top a door that separated her cell hall with other room in the prison. The door opened and revealed one of the White Lotus guard with a box of bento in his arm. He wore a White Lotus uniform, his eyes was red, slightly dark skin, and as any other Lotus members, he wore a White Lotus helmet on his head. was he smiling ?

"Good morning, Kuvira, I brought you a breakfast. You need all the strength to through this, you know ?" said the guard with a warm tone which make Kuvira a bit cautious with the behavior while deep inside her heart, she felt a little relaxed by the guard's attitude toward her.

Feeling her body language which a bit tensed, he hold one of his arm in surrender gesture, "It's okay, I will not hurt you, and neither the other guards. We will only to make sure you don't trying something funny." Said the guard once again as he saw Kuvira body more relaxed than before.

Now, it's Kuvira's turn to asked the question, "Why are you nice to me ? You should have treat me like other prisoners, not to mentioned I attacked Republic City and forced the citizen of Earth Kingdom to submission," said Kuvira as she frowned looking at the ground.

Gotten no answer from the guard, Kuvira looked up and saw a small but genuine smile coming from the guard as he crouched and put the bento on the floor in front of her. A little hesitated, but eventually she opened the bento and saw various foods inside it an it seemed in completed combination of rice, meat, vegetables and even fruits with drink alongside it.

He got up and bow, "please enjoy the meal," and then left without another word. Kuvira watched the guard's back as he left the hall and closed the door, leaving Kuvira alone once again in his room. In confusion of the current event, she just stared at the door then at her bento and ate it quietly, unconsciously even to her, she had a little smile on her face. Maybe this is a good start.

Unknown to her, back to the observation room, the guard from before opened it and saw Grand Lotus Daizan watched the entire scene. "How is she?" asked Daizan.

"She's not the tyrannical woman anymore, sir, she genuinely and truly want changed for the better," reported the dark skinned guard who also a psychiatrist in Alliance Medical Corps.

"That's good to hear, but her path will be harder than before, enemies old and new she will be faced will shape her destiny from now on, and we will be with her in her every steps. Let's just hope Ka Trell is right about her." said Daizan to particular no one. A minute passed in silence before the guard asked.

"Is there anything else, sir ?" asked the guard.

"Thank you, agent, that's all, you may dismissed," said the Grand Lotus as the agent bowed and left the leader alone in the observation room as he watched Kuvira just finished her bento and put the empty box a little far from her position now. Daizan saw this and with a smile emanated on his face, he left the room.
