"You seem pleased that Lieutenant Logan was reprimanded by the captain," Data commented as he and Geordi sat in Geordi's quarters, chatting while trying to decide the subject of their next painting. "Why?"

"Well, Data, it seemed to me that he was just using the crisis as an opportunity to prove himself as opposed to trusting me with the situation. So yeah, it kinda made me angry that he seemed to want to defy me at every turn."

"Perhaps Logan truly thought that he had a better solution."

"I don't know, and I don't really want to find out, honestly. But as for getting chewed out by the captain..." Geordi trailed off. "Are you familiar with karma, Data?"

"I am familiar with the definition, yes." The android paused. "I am assuming you are referring to it colloquially?"

"Yeah. 'What goes around, comes around,' as my mother used to say."

Data looked puzzled. "What is coming and going, exactly?"

Geordi laughed. "Nothing in a literal sense. I guess it is just satisfying that there were consequences for the way that Logan treated me, even if it was after the moment it happened."

"I believe I understand. It is a figurative cause-and-effect."

"Something like that."
