So here is the story !

Chapter 2 : Conflict of Mind

It had been a week after the guard treated her well. From that day, they will occasionally smiled, greeted her with warm tone, and sometimes there will be a little chit-chat with them. Not outwardly she admitted it, but she began to enjoyed and feel comfortable with her current situation. Even though she was imprisoned, the guards always treat her like a normal human being, not a tyrannical or fascist woman in their eyes, they even remove her handcuff so she can walk around the chamber. Slightly confused by the suddent treatment she got, Kuvira only reply with short and flat responses. She doesn't know what is going on and she surely that White Lotus always some kind of harsh and restricted organization, not this kindness, nice, and warm treatment she get from a century-old secret society.

Now that she thought about, It all started after her emotional breakdown last week when her mask was dropped and she cried for hours. That thought make her cheeks red blushed in embarassment. I'm not a babycry. She's not a babycry for spirit's sake, she was and still is a strongheaded earthbender and one of the best from her generation. She was the Great Uniter and leader of modernized Earth Empire. She was appointed as Zaofu's guard captain and personally trained by the Beifongs themselves. Realization came like a thunder as she contemplated her last sentences. Oh right, I don't belong to them anymore. And that somber look crept back to her face.

It was morning, not that Kuvira can saw it, but with a narrowed light come down to her chamber from a thin window on the wall, she can tell it was early morning. The alarm sounded and the door opened, revealed a single guards brought her breakfast. She sighed with relief having breakfast this morning arrived in time as usual.

"Good morning, Kuvira. In good mood it seems," said the guard with bento box in his arms walked closer to Kuvira with each words.

"Thank you for your hospitality," said Kuvira flatly, though she was happy in the inside. She currently was standing facing the small window where the sun passed through it into the chamber, her back facing to the guard, eyes closed, with her hands on her back. She opened her eyes and now was facing the guard. The guard gave the bento and Kuvira accepted it gently. The guard bowed slightly and without another word, she left the chamber, leaving Kuvira alone with her breakfast. She opened her breakfast and saw different food from yesterday. The menu itself always changed everytime, different time, different menu, and each day it always changed.

Grand Lotus Daizan sat on his chair in his office in the prison Kuvira's being detained as he recalled the event in the last week. The day after Trell's group left the Prison, Tenzin with Lin and Suyin Beifong visited the prison and watched Kuvira in her chamber from the observation room, silently. After that Tenzin told him to charge of Kuvira while she was in prison. Beifong sisters told him if she tried anything suspicious, take her down immediately, kill her if necessary. The Grand Lotus slightly disliked with the sisters act toward Kuvira. He himself as well all guards in the prison had understood Kuvira's position and felt a sympathy for her, as he simply nodded and told everything will be fine under his watch. Inwardly he with the guards will make Kuvira at least felt comfortable and peaceful during her time in prison, not she will be long in there though.

Next day, Trell contacted him about Kuvira's fate. Her fate with the Alliance. He still remembered it clearly in him head as it was yesterday.

(Little flashback, 6 days ago)

Daizan walked back and forth in his office as he confused by Trell's plan regarding Kuvira's fate. While he has been appointed by world leaders to supervised Kuvira's detention, the Alliance by the order of the Grand Master himself asked him and other White Lotus guards to supervised Kuvira physical, psychological, and mental condition so she still in good shape as Trell's plan commenced.

Those tasks been done through the guards attitude to her and the food that was brought to her. even though there were some guards still resented Kuvira because of her action, but those resentment had reduced dratically and most of them had come to the term where Kuvira was also one of the victim during her own reunification campaign. Kuvira lifehood had been known by the members and they felt pity on her. Now the Alliance with full supports of their members had determined to guide and aid Kuvira in her journey for redemption. But even though they have the determination needed for it, Daizan still in confusion of how it will fit with Alliance work.

As his though came to an end and his confusion answered, a voice of comlink was heard and his face snapped toward the device on the table. He turned it on and the hologram displayed Ka Trell and his Arkanian padawan, Nilo.

"Good morning Daizan, how are you today? Is everything alright? Kuvira don't escape, did she?" asked Trell as he smile slightly to the Grand Lotus knowing what disturbed his mind.

Irritated by his sarcasm, Daizan replied with a defeated sighed. "No, everything is not alright and no she hadn't escaped...yet", said Daizan, "and don't give me that look, you know what my problem as it is also your problem, now while you are here with Nilo as well, spit it out already!" exclaimed Daizan as older Jedi chuckled and younger female Jedi giggled a bit.

"Yes, so after a discussion with Grand Master Bridger, we agree to let Kuvira joined our Alliance in condition she will conducted in a team of four, not three as usual to make sure Kuvira cannot escape or do anything. For her team members, I have selected the best of the best from each element benders". Trell halted, he showed tree identification cards, two male and one female. After that, he put the cards back and continued,

"then she will wore our outfit & armor eqipped with tracking device hidden in the suits. She will be tought by our instructor and of course her bending ability will increased also. She will also go to psychiatrist for medical assestment and to help her psychological turmoil inside her mind.

"now, because our physical feature is very rare in this planet, so– " said Trell, but before he can continue, the firebender interrupted him,

"I will tell her myself if that what you mean," finished Daizan with a sigh. Now he had to tell her prison that she will got her redemption. This think getting uglier than before.

"Yes, but I assure you, when you brought her in, me and my Jedi will take care of her personally. Give her three days time, if she agree, bring her to Sanctuary at that moment." Trell stated to Daizan. Daizan nodded at deactivated his hologram.

"Right," said Daizan to no one. Then he sat on his chair and continued his paperwork.

(Little flashback ended)

"It's now or never," said Daizan to himself. He got up from his position on the chair and walked outside the door to Kuvira's chamber.

Kuvira sat in her chamber, eyes to the ground and humming a song during her childhood in Zaofu. The song always sang by Suyin whenever Kuvira had a trouble sleep in night and the song always remembered by Kuvira even after she left Zaofu to reunited the Earth Kingdom. Every time she had a problem or dillema in making the decision or plan to unification, she always sang it to calmed and relaxed herself, to cleared her mind, and sometimes the humming will lifted her problem from her shoulder.

Now in her chamber as her detention period moved on, her humming must come to a stop as her ear heard a door alarm rang, signaling the door will open and revealed whoever walked in her chamber.

The figure walked in was Grand Lotus himself, accompanied by two guards in his side. Surprised by Grand Lotus presence, Kuvira cannot formed the leading man's purpose to met her personally in one of the prison he charged of.

"Good Morning, Kuvira. I hope your sleep went well last night," said Daizan warmly, even with a smile.

"Good Morning to you also, Grand Lotus, what did I do now that I owed your visit ?" asked Kuvira politely, still didn't know his intention to came here.

"Oh, straight to bussiness are we ? And my name is Daizan if you want to know," said Daizan waving his hand.

"I'll try to remember that," stated Kuvira flatly.

"Oh you will remember it from now on," the Grand Lotus replied with a knowing grin. Kuvira didn't like where this conversation went on. Something unexpected obviously will happened, and for her wish, Daizan's face changed into one seriousness and his next words was something that the Great Uniter never expected to heard.

"Well if you want go straight to the bussiness, we here to offer you redemption," said Daizan shocking Kuvira as her mouth gaped like fish to the ground by the news.

"W-What did you say ?" asked Kuvira shocked by what the man in front of her said.

"You heard me right, we here to offer you redemption," said Daizan once more more clearly. Kuvira looked into his eyes but cannot saw anything more than truth and honesty. Still shocked, she asked the only think that came into her mind.

"How ?" muttered Kuvira, though Daizan still could heard it.

"To answer that question, I have to explained a little further back, so sit tight and listen to the story. Once upon a time..." and like that, Daizan explained their encountered with AUG, formed the Alliance, improvement and development that occured by the Alliance, the Sanctuary construction, Alliance members & operatives across the globe, the Alliance discussion in the obervation room that brought to this moment. During the whole explanation, Kuvira sat in silence as she try to comprehended every words in it. Spaceship, blaster, Jedi, peacekeepers, multiverses, hyperspace, shinobi? A strange yet fascinating story, but of course as one of most talented and skilled earthbender, she know what to believed and which is not. She know that every single word that the Grand Lotus said was true. Why the Grand Lotus want to say this kind of information to her and not the Avatar. She has several possible answer to it.

Then the Grand Lotus told her about her outburst, which she blushed in embarassment as she now knew that she being watched by every high rangking member of the Alliance. She was told that if she joined the Alliance, she indirectly will helped a lot of people, not only the Earth Kingdom citizen, but the entire world.

"Yes you forcing your methods to society, your intention is good, but in the process, you hurt them, killed them, and even you disconnecting yourself with your precious one." Said Daizan as he sat down with his prisoner. He looked at her with warm and gentle face, then proceeded.

"But, your emotional outburst last week showed us how much you have changed after the battle of Republic City," said Daizan as she looked at him with confusion expression. Daizan smiled a little and continued, "you feel shame, you feel pain, you feel hurt," every words made Kuvira slumped her shoulder downwardly. "and most of all, you regret your own action and decision during your unification." Said Daizan as he putted his hand on her shoulder as Kuvira wide-eyed by the man's word. It seems not all people saw her as total cold-heartless bitch.

"You're not only a strong earthbender, you're not only a captain of Zaofu Guard, you're not only a Great Uniter. You also a young woman who need people to cherished you, not only to follow you. You need people who wants to be by your side, as your friends and comrades. You need people you can relied onto." Said Daizan.

"we want you help you in your redemption, so you must not suffered from your own mistakes. Even though both of us know those mistakes will difficult to forgive and the hardship for redemption, we will be with you along the way, and at the end of it, you will find peace." Finished Daizan with a comfortable tone. He stand up from his crouching position and looked down to his prisoner. But before he spoke, Kuvira did it first.

"What make you believe I will joined you ?" asked Kuvira narrowed her eyes.

"As I said earlier, we will be with you and help you along the way. You are at your fragile moment but your mind is still clear as the sun. How many times you think about what I said, you know deep inside you, you want this. And let's don't forget about Korra, her friends, and especially Beifongs. Do you think if you stay in prison as long as they want, they will really forgive you for what you did ?" asked Daizan. Kuvira remained silent.

"Joining with us will not instantly make people forgive you. Even our members still have their resent to you. But we come to common understanding that not only your victims need help," Kuvira flinched at the last part, "but yourself as well, we want and we will help you all we can." Finished Daizan determined.

"You have three days to think about it and decided it. Remember, opportunity doesn't came twice. Choose your option wisely." Ended Daizan as he turned his back against Kuvira and started walked out the door, but before he can leave, Kuvira asked her last question of the day,

"Did Avatar know?" Daizan stopped in his track and not a moment later, walked again leaving Kuvira alone. Then she laid her back to the floor and face the ceiling, closed her eyes and sighed, she surely has a lot to think about.

She woke up by the sound of singing birds, it had been three days since her conversation with Grand Lotus Daizan and her mind had been in turmoil ever since. Today was the decision day and as the Grand Lotus said, it will be her new chapter of life.

She knew the Grand Lotus telling the truth about it and really wanted to redeemed herself. She could see the advantage of joining the White Lotus, not only that she will able to redeemed her mistakes, but she can prevented another thing from happened again. She knows the capability of White Lotus and with the new additional development and improvement inside the White Lotus itself, she no doubting that they will able to helped her. Determination in Daizan's eyes was her solid proof to trust and believe in them. How Daizan described it with detail seemed like he knew how people can really change. Daizan himself was the proof of it. Not only she will able to redeemed herself, but this opportunity will allowed her to improved and proved herself for a better change.

But on the other hand, she thought about what will happened if she accepted the offer. Daizan never confirmed her suspicious about Avatar and her friends involvement in this whole fiasco. If they know, it is a good thing, but what if they didn't ? will she confronted them again in the future ? will she created more cracks and deeper rift between her and Beifongs, especially Su. One of her worry was where this will brought her. An uncharted territory with very little information can change a lot of thing in a mere second.

But, her name not will Kuvira if she doesn't take opportunity, and that opportunity is in front of her eyes right now. She had faced a lot of problems, from dealing with bandits and thugs to convinced a state to bowed to her authority. And this one not so different from it. Only few addition of aliens, spaceships, space monks, robots, and...Well it seems a lot of new things. She decided that this chances is one that not to be missed, this decision will changed her life forever, this decision will be her new self and now she had people who want to helped her all the way.

Yes, Kuvira has made her decision.
