Worf and Counselor Troi happened to pass by each other one day off-duty shortly after Yar's death on their way to other parts of the ship.
"How have you been doing, Worf?" Troi asked.
"I am acceptable," Worf said. Seeing the counselor waiting for a more in-depth answer, he added, "We canceled the martial arts competition. It will be held sometime next year in Lieutenant Yar's honor."
Troi nodded. "That's completely understandable." Troi checked to make sure that the corridor was empty before continuing. "I know that much like the captain, you prefer to suffer in silence when painful things happen. I just wanted you to know that we all feel the loss of Tasha greatly, and that any of us would be willing to lend an ear if you need to talk."
Worf suppressed a smile. The likelihood of him wanting to talk about the pain of losing Yar was low, but Troi always knew how to say the right thing.
"Thank you, Counselor. I appreciate it."
