I don't know why it took me forever to finish this, but I finally did it! So I hope you all enjoy this chapter!

That was the worst sleep Anabelle ever had in her life. The most she got was only three hours. Not even the rain could put her mind at rest. All she could think about was Derek and everything that happened between them. Anabelle didn't know whether to feel angry, sad, or confused. Honestly, it was a combination of all three.

How could he keep a secret like that from her? Something as huge as them supposedly being tied together for eternity? That's not something you hide from your best friend. Just when Anabelle thought she could trust him too. And it made her wonder how genuine everything Derek had done for her was. Was it all because he actually wanted to take care of her? Or because he was supposed to? Either way, it was all disappointing. Because Anabelle had really let herself get too attached and him make her feel something for him.

What a fool she was.

Not wanting to be a girl in a chick flick who mopes in her old bed all day because of some stupid boy, Anabelle decided it was finally time to get up. So she rolled out of bed and set her bag on top of it. The first thing she had pulled out was the Henley Derek had given her the night Victoria almost killed her and Scott. The night Derek apparently found out they were mates. Of course. The universe really did have a sick way of making sure she remembered the alpha. Anabelle brought the article of clothing to her nose. Even though she was the last one to wear it, she could still get a hint of that pine needle scent. What the hell? She threw it on over her head and pulled on a pair of shorts before heading out to the kitchen.

Already in there were Caleb and Parker. The eldest brother was brewing up a pot of coffee and the younger was sitting at the kitchen island. When they both saw Anabelle, they grew uncomfortably silent, making her roll her eyes.

"I know you guys were talking me so you can drop the awkward silence," Anabelle said, taking a seat next to Parker.

"Sorry, baby sis," Caleb apologized. He poured coffee into a mug. "Creamer? Sugar?"

"A shot of whiskey?" Parker offered, already unscrewing the cap of the bottle.

Caleb deadpanned. "Dude. It's seven in the morning."

"It's five o'clock somewhere, bro." Parker started pouring whiskey into his own coffee.

Shrugging her shoulders, Anabelle said, "Fuck it." She held her mug up and let her brother pour more than a shot in it.

"Yeah, I'm definitely the responsible one in this family," Caleb sighed, shaking his head.

As they sipped on their coffees, the sound of little feet running echoed through the hallway. Anabelle turned around to see a blonde little girl with bright brown eyes gasp excitedly. Immediately she darted to the she-wolf, who was already standing up.

"Auntie Ana!"

"Hey, Lilly!" Anabelle beamed as she picked up her niece. She let out a dramatic groan as she sat down with the five year old on her lap. "Stop growing up already! You get bigger every time I see you."

Lilly giggled. "I missed you, Auntie Ana. Are you staying for good this time?"

"Looks like it," Anabelle sighed. She quickly replaced her frown with a smile. "I'll tell you what- if you have a good day at school today, I'll pick you up and take you to go get some ice cream. How does that sound?"

"Yay!" After giving her aunt a hug, Lilly jumped down and ran to Leanne who was walking into the the kitchen.

"I'll never understand how you have so much energy this early in the morning," Caleb's wife mumbled. She smiled and hugged her sister-in-law. "Welcome home, Anabelle."

"Thank you," Anabelle said.

"Alright, I'm gonna go drop Lilly off at school," Leanne said as she grabbed a morning snack for her daughter. "And Renée's upstairs with Toby. Everyone be on their best behavior."

Gawking, Parker asked, "Why are you looking at me when you say that?" Leanne eyeballed the bottle of whiskey. Parker gulped nervously. "Oh, yeah."

Leanne rolled her eyes. "I'll be back later." She kissed Caleb goodbye before taking Lilly's hand.

"Bye, Daddy!" the little girl said sweetly as she blew her dad a kiss. Then she waved at her aunt and uncle. "Bye, Auntie Ana! Bye, Uncle Parker!"

As soon as they left the house, Parker shuddered. "God, ten years later and Leanne still scares me."

"Hey, you might wanna be careful there, man," Anabelle warned playfully, "That's the alpha's wife you're talking about there."

Said alpha leaned on his elbows. "And speaking of…"

When both of her brothers looked at Anabelle mid-sip of her coffee, she groaned into her mug. Seven in the morning and the hounding was already about to start. Lovely.

"Do we really have to talk about this right now?" she asked, "It hasn't even been 24 hours yet since it happened."

"So what exactly did happen last night?" Caleb asked.

God damn it, they weren't going to let it go.

That was when Anabelle started to tell them how yesterday had played out. Starting off with Derek going to see Jennifer. Then heading into when Deucalion, Kali, and Ennis paid them a visit at the loft. Then Anabelle's fight with Derek about him kicking Isaac out and him visiting Jennifer at the school which lead into them having the most steamy and passionate sex ever. Only she didn't use those exact words and she made sure to leave out the very explicit details for Caleb and Parker's sake. And also because she didn't want to remember how incredible that moment between her and her… Derek was before everything went to complete shit.

By the time Anabelle had gotten to the part about her finding the article about mating, her brothers' eyes were so wide it was like they were watching the juiciest reality TV show. Especially when she told them that she slapped Derek in the face when they were fighting again.

"Damn," Parker whistled, "You guys would make for some great television."

"And then he proceeds to tell me that he loves me as I walk out the door," Anabelle scoffed, "Can you believe that?"

"Well, what did you say?" Caleb asked.

"That I didn't love him back." Her brothers became silent again, giving each other weird looks. "What?"

Caleb rubbed the stubble on his chin. "You don't know what happens when you reject your mate, do you?"

"Caleb, I literally don't know anything about any of this," Anabelle said, "I just found out this was even a thing about eight hours ago. Like, why did none of you say anything to me about this? I mean, I can't believe I didn't know since you guys already have your mates."

"Uh…" Parker grimaced, "Renée and Leanne aren't our mates."

Now Anabelle was confused. "What do you mean?"

"You see," Caleb said, "Not all werewolves are destined to have mates. It's actually a gene that very few carry and it's not always passed down to every child. Mom was the one who had the gene and Dad was her mate."

"But since Dad didn't have it, Caleb and I don't have it either," Parker continued.

"And you know how we always said 'like mother like daughter' whenever we all talked about you and Mom?" Caleb asked. Anabelle nodded. "Well, that's what started that. You were the one who carried the gene. And since none of the Hales had it either…"

"What you're saying is that Derek and I are mates because of me," Anabelle stated.

"Pretty much."

Awesome. If Derek ever found that out he would never let Anabelle live that down. That is if she ever saw him again which wasn't what the goal was here.

"But why him?" Anabelle asked, "Why did I choose him?"

"Well, you were drawn to him because he made you feel a spark," Caleb explained further, "When a werewolf chooses their mate, they choose someone who they can picture spending the rest of their life with. Someone they don't want to spend a moment without. And for you... it just so happens to be Derek. You knew who you wanted since the day you were born."

This just keeps getting better and better.

Her brothers could see Anabelle getting into her head about this. "Does this all really upset you?" Parker asked, "I honestly thought this would be a good thing."

"How?" Anabelle questioned, "Not only do we not get a choice in who we want to be with regardless of what happened when I was a baby, but also everyone knew about this and didn't tell me a damn thing about it. How am I supposed to be happy about that?"

"Come on, Anabelle," Caleb said, "You can't tell me that after all these years you haven't developed any sort of feelings for Derek. And he said that he loves you."

"Like he actually means that," the she-wolf scoffed.

"You really think he would say it if he didn't?"

It was Anabelle's turn to be quiet. "He only said it because he had to. Not because he wanted to."

Parker sighed. "Anabelle, we've seen you two with each other for most of your lives. That guy has always loved you. He may not have realized it, but you could just see that every time you two were together, he was just so happy. He looked at you like you held the entire world in your hands."

"I remember when Laura first called us after we all left Beacon Hills," Caleb spoke up, "She said Derek cried over you for months."

"Besides, when have you ever known that kid to tell anyone that he loves them? Him saying that to you should really tell you something."

It was still a hard thing for Anabelle to believe. While it was true that Derek did not seem like the loving type considering what had happened with Paige and Kate, the she-wolf remembered how upset he looked when she walked out that door. He was about to cry over her. Like, legitimately cry. Anabelle didn't know if he ever did when she left. It was weird to picture him crying over anything.

But her brothers did have a point though. Not once in Anabelle's life had she ever heard Derek use the word 'love' when it came to anyone other than family. The way he said it to her sounded like it was the easiest thing for him to say. Could it be true?

Was Derek Hale, her best friend throughout her life, really in love with Anabelle?

She shook her head. "It still doesn't change the fact that he kept this from me. He was my best friend and he lied to me."

"Sure, he might not have been able to tell you," Caleb said, "but that's nothing. Not everyone gets the same opportunity that you two have. Even those who are destined to have a mate can go their whole lives without meeting them. You both are incredibly fortunate to not only know your mates, but to have your mate be your best friend."

Anabelle didn't know what to say anymore. She just grabbed the bottle of whiskey, poured some into her cup, and drank away.

Shit.

As fast as he could after talking to Allison at her place, he rode his motorbike to Derek and Anabelle's loft. He had just had a run-in with Deucalion and he needed to warn everyone immediately. When he slid the door open he saw Derek, Peter, Boyd, and Cora were standing around the table.

No Anabelle though. Weird.

"I know where they are," Scott announced.

Everyone turned around to look at him. "Same building as the Argents, we know." Derek confirmed. His eyes were looking distressed and his face was even more brooding than usual.

"Cora and I followed the twins after you told Derek what they did to Delilah," Boyd said.

"Then they want you to know," Scott realized.

"Or, more likely, they don't care," Peter said.

Scott noticed the blueprint laid out on top of the table. "What is this?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Peter asked, "The schemers are scheming, coming up with a coup de main, better known as a pre-emptive strike."

"You're going after them."

"Tomorrow," Derek replied, "And you're gonna help us."

"What does Anabelle have to say about all of this," Scott asked, "By the way, where is she?"

No one said anything. Everyone seemed to to be staring at Derek. And the alpha seemed to slump a little bit as he averted their gaze. He was still heartbroken over the last argument he had with Anabelle. Almost a week had went by since she left. It might not have been a long time, but for Derek, it felt like an eternity without his mate. He missed her so fucking much.

Saying that he loved Anabelle out loud made him realize how true it really was. Derek was in love with Anabelle. She was his reason for everything he did. And now that she wasn't here… it felt like his heart had been ripped out of his chest and stomped on. He didn't know how he was going to be able to go on without her. Could he even go on without her? Derek didn't feel like it. In fact, he was pretty sure that he was dying. He might as well die if he didn't have Anabelle.

He then realized that everyone was still staring at him, waiting for him to answer Scott. He cleared his throat to hide that fact that he was getting choked up over thinking about her.

"She's gone," Derek finally said, "She went back to San Diego with her brothers."

"What, why?" Scott asked, "Why would she leave-"

"Does it matter, Scott?" Derek snapped, "She left. That's it." It got quiet again. Okay, he really needed to compose himself in front of these teenagers. It was time to get back on track. "Let's just focus on the plan."

Which basically consisted of going in for a sneak attack. Not that it should surprise Scott at this point that all of Derek's plans involve killing the enemy.

"They're one floor above them in the penthouse," Derek said, "right above Allison."

"So kill them first, that's the plan?" Scott asked.

"They won't even see it coming," Boyd told him.

"Why is the default plan always murder?" Scott questioned, "Just once, can someone try to come up with something that doesn't involve killing everyone?"

Peter rolled his eyes. "You never get tired of being so blandly moral, do you?" He looked at his nephew. "Not that I disagree with him."

"I do," Cora sneered, "Why do we need this kid?"

"This kid helped save your life," Derek reminded his little sister. He turned to Scott. "And you know we can't just sit back and wait for them to make the first move."

"And aren't you forgetting that they've already killed one of us?" Cora pointed out, "Those twins killed Isaac and Delilah's son. A baby. That doesn't deserve to go unpunished."

"You can't beat a pack of alphas," Scott told them.

"That's why we're going after Deucalion," Cora said, "just him."

"Cut off the head of a snake and the body dies," Boyd said.

"Only this isn't a snake, it's a hydra," Peter told them, "And like Scott says, they're all alphas."

"Deucalion's still the leader," Derek said to his uncle.

Peter looked at his nephew. "Let's hope so. Because you know what happened when Hercules cut off one of the heads of the hydra?"

"Two more grew back in its place," Scott answered.

Smirking, Peter said, "Look who's been doing their summer reading."

After their little meeting ended, Scott was getting ready to leave the loft. He took a good look at Derek who went to go sit at the edge of his bed. That seemed to be his go-to position since Anabelle left. Scott took note of how disheveled he looked- hair slightly tossed, almost greying skin, no light in his eyes whatsoever. The last time Scott saw him like this was when Kate had shot Derek in the arm and it was slowly killing him.

Wanting to get some answers, Scott went to over to Cora, who seemed displeased that he was still there.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" he asked her. She rolled her eyes but she followed him outside of the loft. "What's going on? Why did Anabelle leave?"

Cora sighed. "She found out that she and Derek were mates. She got mad at him and she just took off."

"That's why he looks so depressed," Scott realized.

"When a werewolf rejects their mate, they both fall into a deep depression," Cora told him, "It could actually kill them both."

"Is there anything you could do to fix it?" Scott asked.

"Me?" Cora pointed to herself in disbelief. "Why do I have to be the one to fix it?"

"Because they're both too stubborn to talk to each other. And you know them both better than everyone else here. We need Anabelle back. Not only to help us with the alpha pack. But to reunite her with Derek. Those two can't live without each other. So could you please do something? For your brother and for someone that's like a sister to you?"

Damn this kid for being sensible. Cora groaned. "I'll go grab Derek's keys."

Babies were so stinkin' cute. At least the babies in the Fierro family always seemed to be. If anyone from Beacon Hills saw Anabelle right now, she would probably lose all of her street cred. But when she looked down at the chubby baby boy laying in his crib, all she wanted to do was just eat him up. She couldn't help herself as she reached in and tickle his belly, making him laugh.

"He loves you already," Renée smiled as she stood next to her sister-in-law.

"You and Parker did really good," Anabelle praised, "Who knew something so precious could come from my idiot of a brother?"

Renée laughed. "Do you want to hold him?"

"Uh…" Anabelle looked down at her nephew. "Okay."

She became nervous as Renée picked up Toby and cradled him in her own arms for a few moments. Then she had Anabelle hold her arms up in a certain way before she placed Toby in them. The last time the she-wolf even held a baby was when Cora was born. Seventeen years ago. But as she held Toby, it seemed to be the easiest thing in the world. And when he smiled up at her, Anabelle couldn't help but return the gesture right back at him. Momentarily forgetting about how not happy she really was.

"You'd be a really good mother, Anabelle."

That definitely struck something in her.

Turning towards Renée, Anabelle tried to play it off with a joke. "Why? Because I don't make babies cry?"

"Oh, stop," Renée said, rolling her eyes, "You've always been good with kids. And they always seem to gravitate towards you too."

"I guess so…"

"And with you and Derek's genes-"

"Nuh uh, nope," Anabelle shook her head, "We're not discussing this."

"Come on," Renée said, "Like you haven't thought about it? Not even before you knew?"

Anabelle back down at Toby, reminiscing on the vision of her and Derek with the little girl and her being pregnant. "Well, maybe once."

"Hey, Anabelle!" they heard Parker call from downstairs, "You have a visitor!"

Who the hell could be visiting her? Here of all places? After handing Toby back over to his mother, Anabelle went over to the living room. Her head tilted in both shock and confusion when she saw who was sitting in between her brothers on the couch.

"Cora? What are you doing here?"

Said girl stood up. "You need to come back to Beacon Hills. We're going up against Deucalion tomorrow and we need you to stand and fight with us."

"Look, Cora," Anabelle sighed, "I promised myself that I wasn't dealing with all of this madness anymore. All I wanna do is just lay low and forget-"

"Derek misses you."

Oh, damn. So she's just gonna jump right into it. Okay then.

"He really, really misses you," Cora emphasized, "Ever since you left, all he does is sulk around all day. Which, I guess is nothing really new. But he's been staring at this one photo of you from when you were in high school. It's kind of pathetic, actually."

"The one I gave him after Paige died?" Anabelle questioned. She looked back at her brothers.

"That's your sign, Anabelle," Caleb said.

"I still think he'd be better off without me," Anabelle countered.

"For fucks sake, can you both just stop being so stubborn already?" Cora groaned, losing her patience. The she-wolf raised her eyebrows at Cora's language. "You guys belong together. He loves you. You love him. It's that simple."

"But I-"

Caleb grabbed her by the shoulders. "Anabelle. Stop fighting it. You two won't be able to last without each other much longer. Have you looked at yourself over the past week? You're practically deteriorating."

He spun his sister around so she could look in the mirror that was hanging in front of the coat closet door. Mark his words, Anabelle truly did look ghastly. She almost looked dead with the dark circles under her eyes and paling skin. Kind of like how she was feeling on the inside. And she knew it was all because of him. No matter how long she could try to pretend to hate him… Anabelle couldn't kid herself anymore.

"Derek needs you, baby sis," Parker said softly, "And you need him."

Ah, fuck. She was actually doing this. One thing still didn't add up though.

"How did you even get here?" Anabelle asked. Cora held up a set of keys, beaming with pride. "You stole Derek's car?"

"Borrowed," Cora corrected, "not stole."

"Do you even your license?"

"No." Cora turned to Caleb and Parker. "That reminds me, you guys need to replace your mailbox."

Groaning, Caleb pinched the bridge of his nose while Parker just patted him on the back.

Was this plan stupid? Probably. He knew what the risk was in literally throwing himself to the wolves. Alpha wolves, to add on to that. But this needed to end tonight. Accepting their offer to become one of them was not option and for sure as hell neither was killing one of his own pack members. So the only option? Kill Deucalion, despite Scott's moral values. All of Derek's moral values went out the window when he found out what those twins did to Isaac and Delilah. No matter how hard he came off towards everyone around him that wasn't her, even Derek knew that killing an unborn child was too far. Cora was right, that didn't deserve to go unpunished. With those two teenagers in the back of his mind, Derek was ready to fight.

A part of him wondered what Anabelle would have thought if she knew what Derek's plan was. Would she have stood by his side and fought? Or would she have called him an idiot and tell him that killing wasn't the answer? Most likely a combination of both. Anabelle was always indecisive like that. God, Derek really wished she was here.

Over the past week, along with her photo, Derek had been staring at his phone, going back and forth on whether to call her or not. Often he would chicken out and choose the latter. Not like Anabelle would have answered his call anyway. If she did, she would probably tell him to fuck off and then hang up right after. Derek couldn't handle anymore rejection from her so that's why he never called. But that didn't make him miss her or love her even less.

But he couldn't think about that tonight. Killing Deucalion was the number one goal. Derek just had to push his heartache down and focus on taking the alpha leader down.

He drove throughout the town with Cora in his passenger seat and Boyd in the back. Derek could feel their anxious and excitement, just itching for a fight. While he was just as antsy as them, he had to remain levelheaded as he followed Scott and Isaac on the former's motorbike, making sure to stay a few cars behind them. Scott didn't tell Derek that he was going to talk to Deucalion on his own, but the alpha knew him better than that. There was no surprise that the teen wolf was going to try to reason with him. How Scott hadn't learned at this point that you couldn't reason with a cold-hearted predator was just naïve and stupid.

Derek followed the two boys all the way to some abandoned mall. Another abandoned building. How mysterious and not at all predictable. As Scott and Isaac drove the bike inside the building, Derek parked outside. He, Cora, and Boyd got out of the car. The betas were about to march right inside but Derek held his hand up.

"Not yet," he instructed, "Wait for my signal." Then he went inside.

Debris littered the cold floor of the mall. It was so dark even with the last of the day's sunlight shining through the windows. Just like how it was in that bank. Deucalion really was a fan of setting a mood. Derek followed the alpha leader's scent throughout the building until suddenly he got a huge whiff of something even more familiar. A scent that he had been longing for ever since it disappeared a week ago.

Vanilla.

But that was impossible. Derek wouldn't have been able to smell her unless…

A whine echoed throughout the empty building, making the alpha whip his head to the side. Paws of white and black emerged from the dark shadows until the full body of the white wolf made itself known. Derek couldn't believe his eyes. She was here. Anabelle was actually here. And her sparkling blue eyes were gazed up at him as she walked towards him.

All of the breath in Derek's body was gone as he stared down at his mate. He was almost speechless. When Anabelle stopped in front of him, he shakily knelt down so he was at eye level with her, even though Derek was still taller.

He sighed. "Anabelle, I-"

"I know," the white wolf's thoughts interrupted. She nodded her head slightly. "Me too."

There was a hint of hesitance coming from Derek when he went to lift up his hand, still not really sure where he stood with her. While Anabelle was unsure as well, she didn't stop herself from nudging his hand with her snout so he could stroke her white fur. This might have been the first time Anabelle had ever let him touch her in this form. And Derek didn't know if she would ever let him do it again so he just took as much time as he could savoring the softness of her fur underneath his fingertips. Anabelle seemed to be enjoying this as well as she shut her eyes and practically nuzzled his hand. They needed as much comfort from each other as possible before they go off to battle with Deucalion.

Speaking of which, they heard Boyd and Cora walk up to them, making the mates separate. So much for those two waiting for Derek's signal. But he didn't have time to get annoyed about it. There was a job to be done. Derek stood up straight, shifted, and walked further into the building with his betas behind him and Anabelle right by his side.

"You didn't come alone," they heard Deucalion say.

"Yeah," Scott replied, "This is Isaac."

"I'm not talking about Isaac."

Scott and Isaac turned their heads and their eyes grew wide when they saw Derek with the white wolf, Boyd, and Cora step up. The mates had their own eyes focused on the alpha standing on the broken down escalator.

"You knew I would do this?" Scott said to them, "Derek, Anabelle, don't. You can't do this so no one gets hurt. If someone else dies-"

"Him," Derek snarled, pointing at the alpha, "Just him."

"Just me?" Deucalion scoffed, "Now, how's a blind man find his way into a place like this all on his own?"

Right on cue, Kali used her claws on her fingers and toes to slide down a pillar. She hopped down when she reached the bottom and growled at her enemies. Anabelle growled right back. Then Ennis walked up the lower escalator so he could join the rest of the pack as well, also fully shifted. Last but not least, the twins, Aiden and Ethan, made their presence known from the floor above them with their shirts off.

Everyone was staring at each other, wondering who was going to make the first move. To no one's surprise, it was Derek. He let out a roar and went straight for Deucalion but Kali leapt in front of him and knocked him to the ground. Anabelle had come up behind her and bit her ankle, making Kali roar as well. She kicked the white wolf, scratching her face. The twins had flipped off the second floor and by the the time they had landed, they had morphed into the mega alpha.

By now, a pair from Derek's side went up against an alpha. It was Derek and Anabelle against Kali, Boyd and Cora against Ennis, and Scott and Isaac against the mega alpha. They were all putting up a good fight. Bodies and blood were flying everywhere, everyone was roaring… it was all happening so fast. Too fast. It wasn't taking the alpha pack long to gain the upper hand.

Anabelle's eyes roamed around to see all of these kids getting hurt, which was always her biggest fear. Stupidly, she let her emotions distract her and she didn't notice Kali come up to her. The alpha dug her claws into Anabelle's stomach, making her whimper. Kali threw her at the escalator, just right at Deucalion's feet. Anabelle tried to get up, but the alpha leader pressed his walking stick against her neck to keep her still. Derek tried to go for her but Kali kicked him back.

The alpha pack had the others either pinned down to the floor or holding them still. Derek's pack was looking bad, especially Boyd, who was coughing up blood as he laid on the floor.

"Kill him," Deucalion ordered Derek, "The others can go."

Derek looked down at his beta and Boyd stared back at him with pleading eyes. When Anabelle let out a whine, Deucalion poked her with the end of his walking stick and pushed her down the escalator. She shook her head when Derek went to help her up, telling him not to worry about her. Focus on his betas instead.

"You're beaten," Deucalion continued, descending down the steps, "Do it, Derek. Take the first step."

"Are we serious with this kid?" Kali asked in ridicule, "Look at him. He's an alpha? To what? A couple of useless teenagers?"

"Some have more promise than others," her leader told her.

"Let him rise to the occasion then." Kali sneered at Derek. "What'll it be, Derek? Pack or family?" She pressed her foot even harder on Cora's throat, making her gasp.

The white wolf could see her mate being lost in his own head as he looked back and forth between his sister and his beta. It was a tough decision, one Derek knew he was going to have to make. He looked back at Anabelle, still lying on the ground. From the very beginning, he had always trusted her opinion. Right now was no different.

"Keep fighting," she communicated, "Do not let them win. Keep. Fighting."

At that moment, something whizzed by, making Derek duck to the ground. An arrow hit the mega alpha which caused it to transform back into the twins and let go of Scott and Isaac. They all looked up to still Allison standing on the second floor with a crossbow and arrow in her hands. She shot another arrow at Kali and then Ennis. Blinding light exploded when the arrows hit the ground.

"Your eyes!" Deucalion shouted, "Cover your eyes!"

When Allison stopped shooting and the alpha pack was too startled, Derek, Anabelle, Scott, Isaac, Boyd, and Cora all stood back up. There was still plenty of fight left in Scott and he was not backing down anytime soon. Not until the alpha pack was taken down. He and Ennis growled and charged at each other. The alpha hit Scott and the teen wolf slid back. Before Ennis could go after him again, Anabelle jumped on his and dug her claws into his back. She bit down on his neck and he roared before throwing her off of him.

The two started to attack each other, rolling around on the ground and scratching at each other. Ennis kept swiping at Anabelle and one particular hit had her flying back. She landed dangerously close to a large hole in the middle of the building. All of the injuries on her body were making her weak and she was struggling to stand. When she did finally get up, Ennis gripped onto her neck and lifted her up, holding her above the hole.

Derek and Anabelle made eye contact with each other as Ennis had her dangling in his beefy hand. Blood stained her normally beautiful white coat of fur. Fear laced her eyes as well as his. If Derek didn't act now, Ennis was going to kill her. And Derek was not about to let the woman he loved die. So he did what he swore he would do since the day Anabelle was born- protect her.

Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Derek ran towards Anabelle and Ennis. He could hear Scott shouting from the other side of the room, but all that was on Derek's mind was her. Ennis let go of the white wolf when the other alpha pounced on him and the two men fell off the ledge. Anabelle almost fell with them but Scott was able to catch her in time. She writhed in the teen wolf's arms as she watched her mate fall to his doom.

"DEREK!"

Crash!

Anabelle couldn't tear her eyes away from Derek's body as it hit the escalator below them. His normal green eyes were still open, almost like they were staring back at her. The whole building went quiet as they tried to register in their heads what had just happened. Scott had let go of Anabelle, in shock himself. He looked at the white wolf. But her eyes were still on Derek. And her body was trembling like she was freezing.

Scott reached for her. "Anabelle…" But then she ran off. "Anabelle, wait!"

She just ignored him. She ignored everyone that tried to call after her. All she needed to do was get the fuck out of there. Did she know where she was going? No. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered anymore. Because Derek was dead.

Her mate was dead.

This just makes me so excited for the next chapter! It's the most important one in the story so far so you don't wanna miss it! I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! PLEASE leave a review and let me know what you think! Also be sure to read and review the other two stories in the saga, Awake and Alive and Scars. I'll be sure to update soon! Xoxo, Maddie
