"How are you doing, Captain?" Troi asked Picard in his ready room a week after the incident with the parasites at Starfleet headquarters.
The captain sighed. "I wish I could say I was doing better, but honestly the entire incident last week has had me – spooked. Not to mention all the reports and interviews from Starfleet Command that Commander Riker and I have had to endure."
"That's understandable," the counselor said.
"Just to think that the parasites had fooled so many people..." He trailed off, shaking his head. "We got lucky, Counselor."
"Or perhaps Starfleet got lucky, that you recognized that the Admiral had been compromised and were able to take such swift action."
Picard smiled a little at that. "Thank you for the compliment," he said. "It's just interesting that I've managed to trust everyone so quickly. Without Dr. Crusher and Commander Riker intervening when they did, I certainly would have been compromised myself."
"The senior staff does seem to make a good team, don't they?" Troi asked rhetorically.
"Yes," Picard nodded, "they do."
