Captain's Log: Stardate Unknown
As the closest Federation starship in the area, we are returning to Solais V to pick up Riva from his peace mission on the planet to negotiate another conflict elsewhere. A member of one of the factions named Pikna is coming with him to serve as his interpreter. It appears that his mission on Solais V has been a success.
"It is good to see you again, Rika," Troi said warmly, at a table in Ten-Forward.
"And you as well," Rika said, through his interpreter. "Before we begin conversing in earnest, I wished to thank you for giving me the courage to go back to Solais V and resolve the conflict. I don't know that I could have done it without you."
"Oh, there's no need to thank me," Troi said. "That was all you, Riva. I merely helped you believe in yourself."
Riva nodded thoughtfully. "Well, I am grateful all the same. Also," he added, "it might surprise you to know that I do not know how to read and write. My family line does not do these things. I am hoping to learn so that we may correspond together in the future."
The counselor smiled. "I will be looking forward to it."
