Chapter 4 The First Laboratory
A.N. – The discovery of the first laboratory, but nothing too big. This and the next chapter will lay the foundation of the four labs as the Lyoko Spies try to discover the source of these disappearances.
Short Summary – The Lyoko Spies head in Cairo, Egypt in order to discover the first lab. Agent Chris is en route to their current location, but the Lyoko Spies need more time to discover what the once former desert replica supercomputer holds.

The Lyoko Spies all arrived at the airport to begin their first trek to the first of four laboratory take downs. The tracking bracelet for their ankles that Agent Chris gave them were unnoticeable by advanced airport security. Agent Chris made sure they would have no trouble traveling to any location in the world. They all boarded the plane and were thinking of what to do once they arrived in Egypt.
The flight was _ hours long and they arrived in the _. They went to claim their baggage before they would move to where they were staying, They needed to rest before they moved to the pyramids, where the lab was.
Flashback
"I discovered abnormal frequencies in Cairo so I'm guessing the supercomputer is in the pyramids" Jeremy said.
End Flashback
They awoke the next day, did their normal routines, and then discussed the course of action to take.
"So, what's our plan?" Yumi asked.
"My guess, get to the pyramids. Best chances are there because of the Egyptian supercomputer" Aelita said.
"Remind me, what did the security program do to us?" Odd asked.
"The alternate versions of ourselves."
Flashback
"You heard of the multiple dimensions beyond ours?" the security program asked. They all nodded in unison. "Well, I can use my powers to open a dimensional rift and now!" A dimensional rift opened from the power of the supercomputer. Something started to come through. Soon after the warriors appeared before them.
"You brought us here?" Yumi asked.
"The trait that separates these from you is that these are evil and serve me."
End Flashback
"Right, bad memories."
"Aren't we all suffering from something bad that happened to us because of the war" Ulrich stated.
"Doesn't matter, we have to stop another one from happening" Yumi said.
"But didn't the lab have no electronics or any kind of laboratory equipment?" Odd stated.
"But that doesn't explain how the security program was able to open that dimensional rift to bring our alternate selves to this dimension" Aelita said.
"There's something more going on at those pyramids" Yumi said.
"I'm letting Agent Chris know."
Aelita called Agent Chris to inform him they need one extra day to investigate what the pyramids hold. He allowed them 24 hours to find anything, but once it expires, he and his agents are moving. She gave the crew the okay sign and headed out into the Egyptian desert.
The group were traveling on camels they were able to rent with Agent Chris' help. They began their trek in the desert heat and sand towards the pyramids.
"Was it this hot when we were in Egypt?" Ulrich asked.
"No, winter was in the Northern Hemisphere at the time, so the Northern line of tropics was cooler" Aelita answered.
They saw the pyramids in front of them and knew their destination was close and within reach. Once they were in front of the pyramids, they looked for the entrance on the third pyramid, where the supercomputer was located last time.
"Uh princess, we may have problems trying to get into the pyramids. Look" Odd said.
"Pyramids closed until further notice. -City of Cairo. Looks like whoever is behind this doesn't want us or any other eyes seeing something they shouldn't" Aelita said.
"This pyramid became a national landmark after the war. This pyramid was where the supercomputer was located" Ulrich stated.
"Then this is where we have to go, but someone is stopping us from entering."
"They're not stopping me." Ulrich changed into his Lyoko avatar using the gadget Agent Chris gave them. He pulled out his sabers and found the entrance to pyramid. "Nobody is standing in our way."
The other three changed and entered the pyramid.
The Lyoko Spies traversed the ever-dark interior of the pyramid. They eventually came to the room where the supercomputer once was.
"Empty" Yumi said.
"Impossible though. Why was this pyramid closed down if nothing is happening here?" Odd questioned.
Aelita was looking at the ground and saw cables. "These must be from the supercomputer."
"They look to high tech to be anything else" Ulrich stated.
"Right, which means there must be something behind this wall." Aelita used her energy field and created a hole in the wall of the pyramid. Behind it was a passage with wires that lead deeper into the pyramid. "Come on." Aelita used an energy field and moved through the new passage.
They eventually came to a new room they never saw in the war. A new high-tech facility that was untouched after the destruction of the desert replica supercomputer. The facility had a power supply using the Nile River movement in Egypt.
"So, this is what the security program used to power the supercomputer" Aelita said.
"But there are no scientists here" Yumi said, referring to the mission.
"Let's investigate this before we move."
The Lyoko Spies investigated the power room. They were looking for anything that would give them a lead on where to go in the pyramid. They started to open files and most of them were research oriented. They all mentioned resurrection in a way.
"There seems to be nothing here. This is just a power room" Odd said.
"I found this research file though," Yumi said from her terminal. "Listen to this. Research Log #230. I sent over all our work of the day to the head. He said that we were close to completing our quarter of the work he needed from us. I know we are all being used, but I need to see the light of day along with my family and everyone else who is trapped down here. It's been nearly a year since I was last on the surface. He promised we would be released upon completion. I think we are just victims. I think we are all gonna die within these walls."
"Sounds like our villain is hidden somewhere on Earth. Question is where?" Ulrich said.
"Only way is to fight our way down and rescue the scientists" Aelita said pointing.
She started to walk when Yumi pulled her back. "Hold on there vengeful Aelita. I know you have some unresolved issues with the security program and William, but we are not gonna go in there in a blind rage. Our mission is to recover and rescue the scientists, not kill everybody that tries to stop us."
"Yumi, something big is going down here and probably out of the other three locations and there all being wired to the central lab. We have to find where its located."
"Use that big brain of yours and think. We're spies now, not warriors. We think logical and attack if needed."
"Fine, let's investigate further."
They continued down another passage in the power room that lead to the main research room. Aelita had some issues she needed to clear up. But, even if she got to even the score with the security program and William, her mind would still be plagued with visions. The Lyoko Spies eventually entered onto a balcony that overlooked the laboratory.
"There's our laboratory" Odd said.
"And our missing scientists" Ulrich added pointing to them.
They activated the tracking bracelets and Agent Chris received the signal.
"Cairo, Egypt. Ancient pyramids. Alright" Agent Chris said from back in the spy agency headquarters.
The Lyoko Spies were still ducked down and looking upon what the scientists were doing. They all worked on the terminals and also look exhausted. They were about ready to collapse and fall into a sleep they would never wake up from.
"Those terminals must hold the key to what the was sent, maybe even coordinates" Aelita said.
"But how do we get what we need without alerting the scientists" Ulrich mentioned.
"If they are working against their will, going down there should be no problem" Yumi said.
"Let's find a way down then" Aelita said.
The Lyoko Spies left the balcony room and took another route from the same passage that led downward into the terminal room. They entered and the scientists all looked terrified.
"No, we are here to help," Yumi said putting her arms up with the others. "We're spies and we're here to rescue you."
"Thank you. We have been trapped here for who knows how long" one of the scientists said.
"What happened?" Aelita asked.
"He came."
"Who?"
"The dark man."
