Chapter 5 The Egyptian Project
A.N. – So, basically this is all story driven, but we will learn a lot about what has happened after the war. But, with all the information, is the Evil William clone the dark man? P.S. – The italics is the scientist telling the story in the present.
Short Summary – Weeks after the war ended, Egypt began its rebuilding along with the rest of the world. But the problems aren't over. A dark man appears and shows a vast interest in Egypt. Tow questions remain for the Lyoko Spies: who is 'the dark man' and what does he want to accomplish?
Disclaimer – I do not own Code Lyoko. I am just a fan of the show.
"It all started a few weeks after the war…" one of the scientists began.
Egypt's pyramids and cities lay almost in ruins from the war the security program did to take over the world. The only ones who stood in his way was a group of four young adults who fought with a bunch of special powers and special avatar outfits. These four were the only ones capable of defeating the security program and restoring freedom to the world. In Paris, the world watched and waited…and eventually they came out victorious. Even though many perished, the ones that survived were grateful for the Lyoko Warriors, now Lyoko Earth Defenders sacrifices, as well as the worldwide resistance army.
For years, these four fought demonic AIs through a virtual universe and ever claimed the rewards a true hero deserves. For them, it was natural. But for others, they saw at a not getting what a hero deserves. After the war ended, the world celebrated with them, and everyone has one tribute to them for their efforts to stop and free their country from the evil grasp of the security program. But for some, the terror was still ongoing.
"It's hard to believe that one thing can cause this much damage…worldwide" a scientist said.
"At least we don't have to help him anymore. With all the power he used from those supercomputers, and what he did, the world could have been in worse shape" another scientist added.
"All we can do now is rebuild. Figure out where to go from there" a third scientist suggested.
"We were all going to bring Egypt back before we left, but the dark man had different plans for us."
The group of five scientist walked towards the pyramids when they were stopped by a dark cloaked figure. He spoke with a deep voice.
"Ah, there you are. I've been looking for you" the dark man said.
"And who are you I may ask?" the first scientist said.
"The one who will resurrect my master and bring the end of those pathetic Lyoko Earth Defenders."
"Good luck" the second scientist jokes to him.
"You see, I don't need luck. I just need him. He had a plan B and always have. And you four are gonna help me."
"And if we refuse?" the fifth scientist asks.
"Then this."
"The dark man used some kind of power to bring my friend to him. When he was close, he was murdered in front of us."
"Then that will happen. Death is the penalty for disobedience. I hope I make myself clear" the dark man adds.
"He used him to make an example of what would happen. That is why there are four of us instead of five."
"The file did mention that there were five of you" Aelita realizes.
"Yes, but we were cut down. It only got worse from there."
The scientists were all lead to the pyramids with the dark man behind them, with a sword to one of their backs. He made sure that they were all in line and if anyone steeped out, they would be immediately executed. Once inside the pyramids, the dark man explained the purpose of why he needed them.
"My former master may have found a way to escape death, but the research is incomplete. Your job is to finish one part and send any results to me. Anyone who refuses or shows any sign of resistance will be killed" the dark man instructed them.
He snapped his finger, disappeared and locked the tombs to anyone who was suspicious. The scientists received the information and worked on it day and night with little to no rest…until the spies came.
Present Time
"We have been here for months with little food and water. We don't even know light from darkness or what day or what time it is" the lead scientist finished his story.
"We were assigned to find and rescue you" Aelita says to them.
"Your families are worried for you all. Since your death isn't recorded, no one knew you existed" Ulrich added.
"Might as well been that way! Months of our lives were stripped and who knows what the heel we 've done!" the lead scientist dead.
"How about you live what life you have left and let us deal with it! This is our job now!" Aelita screams to him.
"Aelita's right. You don't know how many people we saw get their lives cut short fighting the security program. Be lucky you still living and breathing" Yumi helps Aelita reinforce her point.
"You can still hep us. Where did you keep this research?" Odd asks.
"Down the hall in the main room" the lead scientist points down the hall.
"Okay, we'll deal with it from here," Aelita contacts Chris. "Chris, the scientists are safe. We're moving to investigate the rest of the lab. One perished. There is only four of them now."
The Lyoko Spies moved further into the lab and soon after, Agent Chris and some agents came in and rescued them. They took them out of the pyramid and gave them food and water, as well as medical care before they would be taken back to their families.
The Lyoko Spies came to the main room.
"This is probably the room he was talking about," Aelita said. She went up to a computer. "This looks like a research monitor but also contains research logs."
"Research logs? For what?" Yumi asks.
"Not for research, for classified information to keep the dark man from discovering what he was doing."
"Open the first one" Ulrich instructed her.
Aelita opened the first entry.
"Today is a very grim day for me and my colleagues. Before we knew it, we were approached by what we believe to be a dark man asking us, no forcing us to work on some project for him. One of us refused and he was made an example of. We were forced into the pyramid you are in now. We don't know what the outcome of our research will be, but we feel nothing good will come of it. After what happened with the security program, we fell like the worst men in the world. We provided that monster with power, resources and anything else he wanted along with many others. And because of that, the world suffered. Now we are being forced to do it again by another monster. To anyone who finds us if we may die, watch all logs and stop whoever is behind this! Please! For our sake, for the sake of everyone!"
The video ended.
"Something tells me we are dealing with someone who knows the security program pretty well" Aelita concludes.
"There is a high possibly that this dark man may be the Evil William the security program created" Ulrich chimes in.
"But we destroyed the security program. Wouldn't he be destroyed also?"
"We don't know if the security program used Project Carthage to make him. Remember, the program that we used was only supposed to attack Project Carthage. If Evil William survived, then this mission is for the world" Yumi said.
Aelita put a finger to her chin. "You haven't seen the last of me yet? The security program knew all along."
"What are you talking about princess?" Odd asks.
"After we defeated the security program, he said we didn't see the last of him yet. He must have given Evil William something that could be a key to resurrection. And whether or not he has it or someone else has, the security program could be resurrected."
"Without Project Carthage?" Ulrich asked.
"Who knows? We need whatever info is here and need to find where our mystery dark man is hiding."
"Wait. Remember what Melissa told us. The security program was researching resurrection before the final battle with us" Odd says.
"Whoever is doing this is gonna resurrect him!" Yumi exclaims.
"We got no time to lose! We have to find the person behind this and stop them!" Aelita exclaims as well.
"Open the most recent log" Ulrich told her.
"We are nearly done with what the dark man wants from us. He promises us freedom once he gets what he wants. We all know that is a bunch of bullcrap. The fucking Nazis promised this to Jewish and anyone else they held in those fucking concentration camps during the Holocaust and World War II. Work will set you free?! It's all a fucking lie! All this is gonna do is bring our death. And probably the deaths of millions as well. If we die, hopefully whoever find these logs, we hope the world isn't already suffering a nuclear holocaust or any mass extinction."
The video ends.
"If we fail, humanity will cease to exist" Aelita says.
"If we fail, we might as well surrender. We were lucky to survive the world. If the security program comes back, he will target us first before he goes after the world" Yumi concludes.
"Failure ain't an option then" Ulrich says.
"Well, let's see what they were working on," Aelita hacks into the computer. "It looks like they were researching the removal of Project Carthage. And also, a number, 0?"
"Coordinates?" Ulrich asks.
"To what though?" Yumi responds.
"Probably that lab that Chris couldn't find. We'll have to find the rest of the labs in order to recover the rest of the coordinates" Aelita says.
"What about when the security program rises, Project Carthage…" Ulrich starts.
"Will be purged out of his system structure. Basically, he won't be linked to anything."
"But Chris made him from Carthage?" Yumi says, confused.
"Doesn't mean he can't survive without it. Xana survived for a while without supercomputers around the world. If Carthage goes, the security program will have no restrictions."
"Making him more powerful than before" Odd says, realizing the horror behind the situation.
"Not this time, the data is gone. Let's go. We got three more labs to investigate and a lot more scientists to rescue."
The Lyoko Spies exited the pyramid with Chris waiting for them.
"Congratulations on your first success, but no medals yet. There are still many missing scientists to rescue," Agent Chris informed them. "Where to next?"
"The Alps in the Himalayas" Aelita told him.
"Good luck. We'll get these scientists home and we'll contact you on the progress."
The Lyoko Spies changed their appearance with the gadget that was provided to them. They set out to the Alps to find out anything more about this dark man and the possible return of the security program.
In a secret lab, someone knew of their mission. Someone who wants revenge.
"The closer you get to finding everything you need, the closer you are finding me, and the closer you get to your extinction from existence along with your race" a dark figure said.
A.N. – I think we all know who this dark man is. If not, around the 14th chapter is when our villain will be revealed. But for the second season, I have special character coming in. He is not an OC, but I can't say much without giving away who he is. PM me with story ideas if you have any! Don't forget to review with questions or comments! I will respond!
