Chapter 9 Secrets of the Lab
A.N. – So this is gonna be an action-packed chapter. Fights, explosions, and everything else in between. Let's begin!
Short Summary – The Lyoko Spies begin their assault in the Siberian lab and soon find out that the lab is highly protected. In order to succeed, the Lyoko Spies have to destroy all the monsters, rescue the scientists, and find out what this lab's purpose was all before Agent Chris arrives.
Disclaimer – I do not own Code Lyoko. I am just a fan of the show.
The Lyoko Spies immediately got outside and expected a welcoming committee. But to their surprise, the lab seemed empty.
"Quiet" Ulrich says.
"A little too quiet" Yumi adds.
Suddenly a laser flew past Aelita's head. 3 krabs came from the front, left, and right. The Lyoko spies readied their weapons. The krabs surrounded them and didn't fire. The Lyoko Spies all stood defensively as they waited for them to make the first move.
"What are they waiting for?" Aelita asks.
"Probably for us to strike first" Odd suggests.
"Or they're waiting for someone else to come and lock us up" Ulrich adds.
A scientist walks underneath a krab and talks to them.
"Poor attempt in an escape effort" the scientist says.
"We're here to help you. Think about who your helping" Ulrich tells him.
"I am," He pulls out a taser and motions to the krab. "Be ready."
He quickly spins around and disables the krab. Ulrich quickly gets in front of the scientist to protect him as the other 2 krabs fire at him. Odd slides under a krab and fires a quick laser arrow. Aelita runs under the last krab and fires a quick energy orb disabling the two.
"Your safe now" Ulrich tells the scientist.
"Sorry for everything. Those monsters have been watching us and recording our every moment. Any sign of resistance and-"
"You die. We've seen this situation already. Listen, we're on a timer here. Where are your friends?" Aelita asks.
"In the main lab. Only problem is, there are more monsters in the corridors."
"We'll take care of them. Let's go!" Yumi says.
The four of them take off.
As the Lyoko Spies run down the corridors they soon ran into more lasers from behind. All of them were knocked down and slid across the floors. They heard buzzing and looked to see 4 hornets approaching.
"Is this a monster factory?" Odd asks.
"Not a chance. Our enemy is really concerned about us. So, he's trying to stop us from stopping him" Aelita says. "Energy field!" She fires as the hornets' swarm down and she misses.
"Laser arrow!" Odd says but also misses. The hornets enter the vents. "Why did they enter the vents?"
"Because they can attack us without us knowing where they are coming from" Yumi points out as a laser was fired from behind and hits her in the leg.
Ulrich jumps up and spins a full 360 destroying one of the hornets. "No one shoots my wife and gets away with it!" He helps up Yumi.
"Thanks."
"Hey, you lovebirds, they're coming back!" Odd calls out to them. The hornets turn around and continue to fire.
Yumi throws one of her fans, destroying one of the hornets. "That one was for me!"
The other two fire at them and Aelita ducks. Odd jumps up and grabs onto the body of the hornet. The hornet was being dragged down. Odd moved his hand in front of the target and fired. "Laser arrow!" The hornet exploded and Odd fell down into a roll. The final hornet came around and fired at him. "Shield!" The laser impact was enough to send Odd sliding back to the others. Aelita got in front of him.
"Energy field!" Aelita says as she fires and destroys the final hornet.
"Thanks princess" Odd says to her.
"No problem."
Aelita helps Odd up and they continue down the corridors.
"How long till Agent Chris arrives?" Yumi asks Aelita.
"Don't know, but the quicker we get this done, the better."
Ulrich was in the lead, and they ran into intersecting corridors and Ulrich's were trapped in ice. "Hey! Talk about cold feet" Ulrich jokes. He looks down the hallway and sees three incoming bloks.
"Bloks, wonderful" Odd says.
One spins around and fires fire rings. Aelita quickly makes an ice wall to defend Ulrich. Ulrich draws a saber and starts to slice at the ice. The bloks continue to fire at the wall and the wall explodes at the same time Ulrich gets rid of the ice. Ulrich goes flying and lands on his back. His saber lands behind him. A blok walks up to him and Ulrich quickly grabs his second saber and stabs the eye.
"Impact!" Ulrich says as the blok explodes sending Ulrich back even further. He loses his second saber. The two bloks continue towards Ulrich.
"Hey, you two. Leave my husband alone!" Yumi shouts as she drops and Aelita and Odd fire their weapons, and they both explode. Yumi helps up Ulrich. "You okay?"
"A little sore, but nothing too serious" Ulrich responds.
The four continue down the corridors to where the main lab is and into more danger.
Agent Chris and his team were en route to the Lyoko Spies location but were immediately caught up in a storm.
"What's happening?" Agent Chris asked.
"We're in the middle of a snowstorm, but this is all artificial sir" the pilot responded.
"What do you mean?"
"Our navigation is down. All tracking systems are down. It's like we just vanished."
"Shit. All units reverse course now! I repeat, reverse now!" There was no response. "Hello? Hello?! Is anyone there?"
"Looks like our communications are down too."
"Whoever this asshole is, he is making sure we are having a hell of a time trying to stop him. Try to maintain course."
The Lyoko spies continued course and found a strange room. "What's this?" Ulrich asks.
Aelita walks up to a terminal. She enters a few commands. "Looks like a terminal that controls weather conditions" she says, looking at the screen.
"Artificial weather. That's a nasty trick" Yumi points out.
"Not only that, but this weather can also take the form of the real deal, replicating the feel, temperature, or any other weather conditions caused by the weather type."
"Which means the snow and ice outside is real and fake" Ulrich says.
"How do we stop it?" Odd asks.
"The weather is controlled by this terminal, but the program that operates is encrypted and locked. It would take a few days to decrypt the full thing."
"And we don't have that time" Yumi adds.
"Can't we just trash this machine?" Ulrich asks.
"Maybe, but who knows if that will make things worse." Suddenly a few lasers flew past Aelita and almost destroyed the machine. It started sparking and then eventually shut down. "I guess that works too."
The weather outside the lab cleared up in an instant.
"Huh? Fake weather. Nice trick, but my spies are smarter" Agent Chris said.
"Sir, there is no laboratory. It's just a wasteland" the pilot said.
"That weather had to be controlled by a nearby terminal. Scan the ground. The lab may be underneath the ice and snow."
Four creepers came crawling into the room and growling as they did.
"Well, now we know what blew up the machine" Ulrich says.
The creepers all stopped blocking a corridor that led to the main lab. They started to fire at the warriors. They all ran and avoided the lasers.
"Energy field!" Aelita said firing as she ran. She was able to hit one. It exploded and moved the others, clearing the entrance. "Let's go!"
They ran towards the corridor and the creepers fired at them. Ulrich was able to deflect a laser back to one and it fell limp. The other two fired and the Lyoko Spies entered the corridor. The creepers soon reappeared behind them. Odd and Yumi turned around.
"Go! Me and Odd will take care of them!" Yumi said to Ulrich and Aelita as they nodded and ran down the corridor.
The creepers fired at the two and Yumi blocked lasers with her fan before throwing one. She was able to hit one and it fell limp. Yumi then got in front of Odd and blocked the lasers. Odd then went to Yumi's other side and fired a quick arrow.
"Laser arrow!" Odd exclaimed as he fired and hit the target eye, disabling the creeper threat.
"Let's go. We got a mission to complete" Yumi said as she and Odd went to reunite with Ulrich and Aelita. They found them at the end of the corridor.
"That was quick" Aelita said.
"Yeah, let's go!" Odd said as they entered the main lab and what they saw shocked them.
The scientist this time were not working against their will. They were being controlled by the Scyphozoa. And not just one, but three of them were controlling the remaining scientist.
"I though the penalty was death?" Ulrich said.
"Maybe, but this was probably more effective" Aelita responded.
"Let's free them" Yumi said.
Yumi threw her fans, Ulrich slashed the tentacles, and Odd fired a few laser arrows. The three scientists all fell unconscious on the floor. The Lyoko Spies all went up to them and checked on them.
"They're still breathing. Just in a state of shock for being possessed," Aelita stated. She then went up to a terminal. "Looks like this lab's main purpose was to turn something virtual into physical."
"Kind of like a rematerialization program" Ulrich said.
"But how does that relate to the security program. Wasn't he physical?" Yumi asked.
"No, he crossed over from the network into the real world. He never lost his virtual structure" Aelita responded.
"So, this lab will remove the virtual structure meaning-" Ulrich starts.
"It will make a superhuman. Remember the possessions. Body of human, but with the mind and strength of the what the security program had, it will be unstoppable."
"If Evil William is behind this, he is doing everything to make sure we can't destroy his master so easily this time" Odd says.
"Yeah, but do we really have to resort to murder? He'll be physical" Yumi asks.
"Think about Yumi. We'll probably be the ones getting murdered. Anytime, when Xana, Anti-Xana, or the security program possessed someone, we barely held our own against them because all their abilities were enhanced and also gained special powers. One superhuman with everything, who knows if we will even be able to stop him."
Suddenly, the scientists started to wake up and they all groaned and held their heads.
"Where are we?" One of them asks.
"You're in a Siberian lab. Problem is where?" Aelita asks.
"It's underground."
"What?"
"Underground. Someone knocked us out, next thing we know we are here. A voice came over the intercom and said that the lab we were in was buried under the ice and snow."
"That's why we couldn't find it."
"Yeah, next thing we know, a bunch of giant jellyfish creatures show up, we black-out, next thing we know we see you."
The main scientist walked in. "Oh, thank God you're all ok!" He exclaims.
"Tell me something, did you know these guys were under the control of the Scyphozoa?"
"No, I just oversaw all the data that was being sent. Those red creatures you defeated guarded me like a hawk. Even if I went to the bathroom!"
Suddenly, the roof exploded, and a rope dropped. Agent Chris and a few agents all slid down. Everyone looked up and saw a few choppers.
"Here's our friend."
"Go! Go! Go!" An agent said as they started to sweep the corridors from any remaining threats.
"Good job spies. Tell me, how did you disable the artificial weather?" Agent Chris asked them.
"Nothing. One of the creepers we fought tried to kill me and hit the machine controlling the weather instead."
"Good job either way. We're almost done here. Wrap this up and then head to Amazon for your final task."
"Should we tell him?" Yumi asks Aelita.
"Yes. We think there is something bigger going on here. We got one part of a set of coordinates and once we complete the second part, we will have a location" Aelita responded.
"I can't let you do this too long. Soon, people will get suspicious. Get the Amazon done quickly and find out who is really behind this" Agent Chris told them.
They all nodded and Aelita walked up to a terminal. She accessed it and got the same result as the first lab.
"Find anything?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah, a number: 0" Aelita says.
"That's just part of the final coordinate we need" Yumi adds.
"That means the final part is at the Amazon lab."
The main villain was disappointed at the poor performance at the Siberian lab. "Pathetic, like always. Guess I have to take drastic measures. I can't let them find me!"
